    Your protocol has allowed me to eat food again and not get dizzy. Now I just gotta fix the depression. Thank you for your protocols. My inflammation is practically gone in my arms and legs.. my arms don’t burn anymore.. and I’m slimmer. I can eat peanuts and sunflower seeds again, Only 18 days in. Wow. Please make more videos I’m recommending you to everyone I know

      I'm happy to hear about your progress. I would be more cautious on introducing foods which were previously problematic. I like to wait to about the one month mark, depending on progress, then reintroduce them one at a time. This is a brilliant presentation, Guy. You really are head and shoulders above any other content creator in the category of the microbiome. No one can match your extensive understanding of the problems surrounding dysbiosis. It's incredibly complicated and you reinforce that view, which, somewhat ironically, makes me feel even more hopeless.

    My personal SIBO problem began after a trip to Mexico. It was a rollercoaster for over a year, medication worked for a couple weeks and then back to the bloating and pain. It wasn't until I came to realize I was thiamine deficient, which was likely in the works for years due to a number of issues. Anyone having issues with SIBO and are not finding resolution, look into thiamine deficiency.

    • @om4real

      I have many initial consultations with people taking thiamin. It doesn't appear to be helping them. And if it truly is helping you, my bet is that it will be temporary, as it does not address the root cause.

      @@TheMicrobiomeExpert I believe it might be more complex than disbiosis in the gut. If you are having issues with your parasympathetic system it can affect all sorts of things in the digestive system. By correcting the microbes, it should definitely help, but it likely is a combination of systems at work. I was showing signs of low bile before my trip to Mexico, and I've been diligent with fasting and pre and probiotics. I definitely wasn't bloating when my microbes seemed balanced, and I wasn't experiencing things like dry eyes and skin issues, but the bile issue probably was a symptom of thiamine deficiency (Along with acid reflux, racing heart rate for no reason, leg cramping etc.). Obviously these can be signs of magnesium and folate deficiency, but high dose B vitamins are the only thing that has corrected the Gastroparesis. Adding microbes isn't going to correct issues in the parasympathetic system, and if it's not working correctly you're not going to be digesting nutrients efficiently. Now that thiamine (Along with lots of nutrients that are balanced to ensure there is support for cellular function), has assisted my motility and bile timing, my digestive system can now handle pre and probiotics. No matter what you add to your digestive system it will not correct a thiamine deficiency if you have one, unless you're adding thiamine (which you will often find in the foods that help gastritis, H Pylori and other gut dysregulation). It shouldn't be lost on you that the best foods for your gut are also often very rich in thiamine.

    Dr. Mark Pimentel has clearly shown that the majority of sibo-d is caused by a cascade of events that start with food poisoning and ends with sibo-d . The food poisoning elicits an autoimmune response that causes problems with small intestine motility. The motility issue is what causes the overgrowth. If this is the case you would have to figure out how to eliminate the autoimmune response then or at the same time treat the dysbiosis. He has tests to show if it's an autoimmune problem.

    • @TheMicrobiomeExpert
      @TheMicrobiomeExpert  24 дні тому +1

      Food poisoning can be a trigger. The ensuing antibiotics can be as well. Antibiotics are far far far more often the trigger for dysbiosis than anything else. The autoimmune response comes later with the dysfunctional immune system driven by constant inflammation.

    Let me add my endorsement to your SIBO protocol. I've just returned from hospital for my second hip replacement op, where I was given 3 doses of IV cefazolin to ward off possible infection.
    After my first hip op, I got terrible diarrhoea about 3 days later, to the point of dehydration, and (on the advice of a telehealth doctor) treated that with probiotics and electrolytes (just stuff I had to hand, and yes, Lactobaccillus rhamnosis). Most likely, that was the result of a combination of the antibiotics on top of underlying dysbiosis, because I had had SIBO-D in the past, treated with antimicrobials and probiotics. It all sort of worked, but this time pre-surgery I had definite signs of dysbiosis, and I was quite worried about a recurrence.
    I came across this SIBO protocol about a week prior to this recent surgery, and implemented it bit by bit. I was hesitant to try the prebiotics because I had reacted badly to inulin in the past... but the SIBO-D protocol does not include inulin, which gave me more confidence to try it.
    I started with what I had to hand, added a couple of things I could source from my local health food shop, and ordered the others online.
    I've not managed to get up to the 2 fibre shakes, but I've been taking one first thing in the morning, now with all 5 recommended prebiotics, and continuing. I also had some of the antimicrobials to hand, and started taking them pre-surgery.
    Yesterday, my GI tract started to activate again after the codeine etc, with 3 days of accumulated crap built up - but it all got eliminated in a very orderly fashion, and with very clean, soft stools, and it looks like I've managed to avoid the expected diarrhoea!
    I'm still working towards implementing the full protocol and recommendations. I got 3 different rounds of probiotics before I realised that the recommendation was none... however, the last round was bifido only. They are too expensive to throw out, so I'm taking them all... 🙄
    I also have been making (and eating) Dr Davis' "supergut" yogurts, 3 of them. But I'm finishing off the ones with lactobaccillus spp., and will just continue with the B. coagulans yogurt. I also make kefir, and lacto-fermented veggies, which I will probably continue (since I believe strongly in the ancestral diet principles, and they are delicious too) but hopefully this will be ok. (I am still open to eliminating them completely if that seems to be indicated.)
    Anyway, I am very, very happy with this result. The protocols all make total sense, and I'm also very grateful for the detailed explanations and information behind them.
    Oh, and I am also reconsidering diet. I've always done better on a low-carb diet - but not so much the very low carb version. However, because of bad arthritis and a desire to address inflammation I have lately been playing with full keto, even carnivore. But I agree, there are lots of reasons this might not be a good idea. So now I need to find the sweet spot for me, to look after my microbiome as well as the rest of me!
    Lots more to explore here...

      Look into thiamine deficiency symptoms. It's also worth looking at what causes thiamine deficiency. It's not a miracle cure, as there might be absorption issues which take time to correct. Low bile? Acid reflux? Slow motility? Look at the parasympathetic system for how it might be the source of your issues. Cheers!

    Another excellent video. You've mentioned that certain species of probiotics may help certain people at certain times. You've also mentioned that different pH levels are important and change through our GI system with higher acidity in the stomach, which becomes less acidic the further we travel through the GI tract.
    I'm trying to reconcile the reuteri bacterium which seems mostly beneficial for some people, including myself. Is it possible reuteri could be beneficial because it's acidity becomes less pronounced as it reached the small intestine? Do you think long term use would result in creating a problem?
    Does it change your opinion at all that reuteri was reclassified from lactobacillus to Limosilactobacillus reuteri not long ago? Thanks again for these videos.

    • @TheMicrobiomeExpert
      @TheMicrobiomeExpert  19 днів тому

      The reclassification doesn't change my opinion. There are many variables why it can work for some and not others. And that benefit may be temporary. And honestly, the focus should be on the butyrate-producers. That's where the true value lies. That's what's lacking in most who are ill.

    Hey Guy,
    What do you think about Time Restricted Eating (such as 16:8)? Do you think it is useful for general gut health? I read about this Migrating Motor Complex, and it seems like it would be beneficial for people with SIBO (and any gut issues).
    It says that it takes 4-6 hours after eating to complete 1 cycle (2-4 hours for stomach to empty, then 1.5 to 2 hours for each full cycle to complete thereafter). So I am doubting that most people would even complete a full cycle between their daily meals (if they eat 3 meals with 4 hours between) Maybe if they are small meals so the stomach empties at 2 hours instead of upto 4 hours for bigger meals, they will get 1 full cycle.
    And then during the 12 hour overnight fast you can get 4-6 cycles
    But if you do 16:8 fasting, and you only eat 2 large meals with a gap of 5-6 hours between, you would definitely get 1 full cycle, and possibly 2. And then during the 16 hours fasting you get 5-8 cycles
    What do you think of this concept?
    Thank you for your videos (I just found your channel)

    • @TheMicrobiomeExpert
      @TheMicrobiomeExpert  19 днів тому

      But most people don't have to follow such a cycle. Why don't they have problems. I think sometimes we can get lost in the weeds with too much online information when the answer is in front of us. welcome to the channel.

    • @Whippy-pi1ub
      @Whippy-pi1ub 19 днів тому

      @ Thank you for your opinion. Now that I think about it, it does seem a little unnecessary to try to maximise the amount of MMC cycles, as if you cleaned your house up then there really is no point in cleaning it again right away. I guess that as long as you can go a normal period without eating (10-12 hours), then further tweaking is likely only negligible benefits.

That is your highest chance of success. Or you can try a protocol. But there are nuances to this and some people are more sensitive than others. So the same person who could fail on a protocol could have success working with me directly due to the constant contact.
