Evidence suggests magnesium may promote a healthy heart. Find out why!

2:15 Potential effects of low magnesium
    2:57 Magnesium sources
4:06 Best and worst magnesium supplements
6:05 Check out my video on calcium!
In this video, we’re going to talk about the real reason we need magnesium.
These are some of the most commonly known benefits of magnesium:
    1. Leg cramps
    2. Relaxation & calmness
    3. Sleep
    4. Inflammation
    5. Blood sugar
    6. Electrolyte
    7. Bone health
    8. Energy (ATP)
However, the real reason magnesium is essential is that it promotes a healthy heart and arteries.
The FDA allows the following health claim:
“Consuming diets with adequate magnesium may reduce the risk of high blood pressure. However, the FDA has concluded that the evidence is inconsistent and inconclusive.”
Magnesium has a significant effect on the cardiovascular system. However, it’s also important that you consume a healthy diet. Taking magnesium won’t make much of a difference if you’re eating an unhealthy, carb-loaded diet.
Magnesium deficiency can have some potentially dangerous side effects, including:
    • Apathy
    • Depression
    • Convulsions
    • Cramps
    • Weakness
66% of the population does not meet the minimum requirement for magnesium. Magnesium levels have dropped significantly over the last 50 years.
The best sources of magnesium are vegetables. The average person only consumes 1.5 cups of vegetables each day-but you need 7 to 10 cups of vegetables daily for optimal health.
    Other sources of magnesium include:
    • Grains (avoid!)
    • Green vegetables
    • Nuts and seeds
    • Seafood
    • Meats
    • Berries
Avoid these forms of magnesium supplements:
    • Oxide
    • Hydroxide
    • Carbonate
    • Sulfate
Stick with these forms of magnesium:
    • Citrate (may act as a laxative)
    • Threonate
    • Bisglycinate
    • Orotate
    • Taurate
    • Malate

Definitely try natural medicine for better results, otherwise side effects of the heart meds will lead to taking more meds, all the while never improving. This is what happened to my dad who eventually died at 85 from heart disease after decades of cardiologists appointments and a lowered quality of life. A lot of the info is wrong because MDs can only tell you what has been approved by the FDA. Also test for MTHFR methylation gene mutation, which can cause elevated homocysteine levels.

As a nurse, if someone’s potassium is low, I always check their magnesium. Potassium will not stick without it, so typically I have to infuse magnesium prior to infusing potassium. These two electrolytes are so important when looking at the cardiovascular system. Beyond this, i use it once a week or so to get the best 😴

@@lunchmoneyog , you are correct that blood serum test for Mg is not reliable test simply because of the fact that only 1% of the Mg circulates in the blood stream for the purpose of heart needs. The rest of the Mg, 99% is in the tissues, organs, muscles, ect. The most reliable so far test is saliva Magnesium test. It's out of pocket. I am still surprised when I see diagnosis such as Restless leg syndrome, Af, or few more when in reality those symptoms are due to insufficient levels of Mg and that's not the level checked with blood serum. Of course heart that works in unfavorable conditions for a long time will develop structural changes that will no longer be reversible with just taking appropriate dose of Mg. Prevention would be best I believe which in the case of the discussion is taking adequate dose of Mg daily. Hope that may help. Good luck

Epsom salt is definitely a great soil additive when growing leafy plants. I think you could grow many plants with only manure, some peat moss and sand, with molasses, egg shells and Epsom salts as your only fertilizer.

    • @violetviolet888
      @violetviolet888 Рік тому +2

PhilLesh69: You never want only one fertilizer. That's like saying blueberries are a superfood so all you eat in your life are blueberries. Then there are hundreds of other essential nutrients you don't get. If you want magnesium.
Epsom salt can be taken by mouth as a magnesium supplement or as a laxative. Most brands recommend taking 2-6 teaspoons (10-30 grams) per day, dissolved in water, as a maximum for adults. Approximately 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 grams) is generally enough for children.

Magnesium comes from the ground, much of the food we are getting has been grown in warehouses (vertical farming). They put nutrients to make the plants grow, like phosphorous but not all the minerals we used to get from soil. Even plants grown in the ground are in deficient soil because practices in industrial farming don't feed the soil. Magnesium threonate reduced trigeminy heartbeats for me at night therefore reducing my anxiety from them.

About to get on a challenging work schedule (by choice, have gotten great opportunities!) And I was worrying about my energy levels (farm work + with horses). Got back on this "kachava" drink of mine which helps a lot, BUT this video reminded me of how I once ate massive fruit salads in the morning and for dinner, during a time where I worked 60hr weeks for a few months.
After hearing what you said about the greens, I have to contribute my success at that time to them! Amazing how sharp I was. I could rise at 4am, work all day, be in bed by 10pm....and be wide awake the next morning READY to go. Even did a 21 day work marathon in that time.
Gonna stock up on the greens again. I actually don't mind them for breakfast 😋

Honestly magnesium oxide is awesome. I was losing electrolytes due to chronically losing fluids for 7 months. The problem people have with magnesium oxide is it supposedly is not water soluble enough. Well frankly, that sounds like a perfect reason for me to take it, since fluids are only going one way (out of my body as fast as possible). Plus it has more elemental magnesium than the other ones. It got rid of my muscle twitches. Magnesium citrate never did.

I have tried many. Forget oxide. Always read the ingredients. Many brands will use this to cut their better quality magnesium. It's a cheap filler + laxative. My favorite has become Magnesium Bisglycinate. It works great for me, 200mg day and 200mg before bed. Glycine has the added benefit of being able to cross the blood-brain barrier and is itself an inhibitor of the NMDA receptor. Magnesium Bisglycinate also minimizes laxative effects and decreases the risk of dehydration and abdominal discomfort, compared to forms of supplemental magnesium like magnesium carbonate, chloride, gluconate, and oxide. 👍
