Magnesium changed my life. I had debilitating insomnia and anxiety, and would almost always be awake for several days straight with literally 0 minutes of sleep before finally passing out 16+ hours. Desperate, I went to a naturopathic doctor who told me to go on a low histamine diet and supplement with magnesium. Within one month I began sleeping restfully every night, and my anxiety nearly completely disappeared. It’s been several years, and I still take magnesium every day, enjoying these same benefits.

I recently just started taking Magnesium Bisglycinate and it has been wonderful! I sleep so well, better than I used to and my energy levels are always good in the morning.
Dr. Berg, I’ve been taking 500 mg of magnesium glycinate to help with muscle cramps. The bottle says that it supplies 150 mg of magnesium and the dosage is 1 capsule. Since I’ve been having muscle twitching and cramping can I take more than 1 capsule? I’ve heard the recommended daily dose of magnesium for women is 325 mg. Thank you!
I’m currently pregnant and have had high blood pressure readings. Despite everything being normal and healthy, I was prescribed a BP med which I have declined to take until I try holistic options. Of course my doctor offered 0 recommendations so I have taken matters into my own hands, and am shocked by the amount of research telling me I’m lacking Magnesium!! I’m also shocked that it’s not included in the daily parental she’s having me take. I willl start taking this daily and I have faith it’s going to help with my BP. Nothing but good things can come from taking magnesium (in the right doses) in pregnancy! Thank you for this video. Can’t believe the doctors won’t say anything about the is 😅
I'm so glad I saw this video, Doctor. I wanted to take magnesium but knew little about it. You're so informative. You're like the encyclopedia of nutrition. Thank you
I'm so glad you posted this! Ive been taking magnesium glycinate for months because I cant tolerate any of the other forms due to the diarrhea. Its great for easing my insomnia, migraines, and poor mood.
Good video to watch because we don't realize how rich our ancestor's environment was in magnesium for millions of years we drank for magnesium rich streams, meat from animals that grazed on magnesium rich soils, soil was rich in magnesium for any plants etc this is no longer the case. our soils are long depleted and our rivers long polluted, our water sources purified. there is no way around getting enough magnesium. you have to accept some supplementation on this one imo
I honestly can't get enough of this guy, I've been watching one video after the next for the last week, all while taking notes. Thanks for all the helpful information, I genuinely appreciate it.
I agree. Am so grateful I have an autoimmune disease and since I have been using Vit D3 and K2 and feel so much better. May Jehovah continue to keep him well
Wonderful topic!! I take both the citrate and the glycinate. I take 800 mg of each with no ill effects. Been taking citrate version for years and years. Once it was in my system, the nocturnal Charley horses subsided. Oxide is the one most available at all the stores though and I don't touch that one.
Hi Dr. Berg, THANK YOU for this video. I've been suffering from Occipital Neuralgia for two years now. This condition is so painful as I experience migraine headaches. I have been seeing a neurologist who has been administering Botox and nerve blocks to my entire head. It helps but the pain still comes and goes. I saw your video about Magnesium Glycinate, and decided to try it because you indicated the health benefits of taking this supplement. Good info. FYI, other source that we find easily in France, is Argile. It's an extract from the ground, it's used for beauty a lot, but as a therapist, i use it for magnesium too. The Green Argile coming from region of Provence in south France. It's a good source to heal all sort of things: gut inflammation, gastritis, antifungal, antidiarrhea, détox, it's full in electrolyte so I use it for fatigue as well, etc. Etc. The Green one is full with absorbable magnesium, but there are several types: red one good for ion decencies, white one for severe diarrhea, etc. Etc. Thank you. Hannature.
I’m a cancer patient and this is the form of magnesium I’ve been using for awhile now. Cause no gastric problems and keeps my magnesium levels in the appropriate range. They always check magnesium before chemo.👍
Cancer is a metabolic disease. You don’t have to go through the fear of death. If you’ve seen dr Berg videos, go into a ketosis diet, do NOT consume oxidative oils (canola corn vegetable soy peanut, seed oils) try to consume avocado coconut oil but best animal fats: beef tallow, pig lard, duck fat. Avoid sugar, avoid sugar substitutes except stevia monk fruit and erythritol. Supplement with N acetyl cystine (NAC), AlphaLipoic Acid (ALA), and vitamin C (lipolsimal). Look up what they do and why you should take them. They scavenge free radicals, which is how your cancer started to begin with. If you remove glucose from your diet, you will STARVE and KILL the cancer stem cells. They can only operate by metabolizing glucose. If your health insurance covers it, look into Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy. This will strengthen your mitochondria and make your body oxygenate to high levels beyond cancer cells hospitable environment since they thrive in a hypoxic acidic body. Good luck and I hope you consider everything I said. Chemo will NOT kill the cancer stem cells. But a change in your lifestyle can
I bought magnesium glycinate just yesterday after hearing carnivore diet probably deficient in magnesium. Most magnesium citrate had sugar in them, so glad I picked the right one. Definitely saw these benefits immediately. Was able to have a nice bowel movement and slept like a baby the last 2 nights. Thanks again Dr Berg!
People with autism and people who are sensitive to glutamates and other excitotoxins need to be careful with glycine and even magnesium glycinate. Some will have a negative effect with glycine. It agitates them. I learned this from TACA org and from negative comments about glycine on some UA-cams from Chris Masterjohn about glycine Check out your reaction to magnesium glycinate overtime and make sure you are not getting a paradoxical effect. I gav small amounts of glycine as part of a triple magnesium complex to my autistic daughter for a few years. It wasn't until I went to straight mag. glycinate and 2 grams of straight glycine that I saw my daughter very agitated and began the research.
I have spent a small fortune in magnesium products but NOTHING could stop my quivering calves, especially at night. I am two weeks into Dr Bergs magnesium glycinate and my quivering has completely stopped with no unpleasant digestive side effects.

Interesting! It was also a pharmacist who introduced me to Mag for migraine. After years of taking prescription meds for migraine, not one doctor had ever mentioned Mag or any supplements. Pharmacists are truly underrated

@@dellassociates5897he mentioned @ 6:30 that it may cause diarrhea or slight uncomfortable reaction. Start with lower dosage. Magnesium also works with vitamin D and calcium. If you don’t have enough or lower on one of those in your body, you might want to include D and calcium when taking magnesium. If you really low of vitamin D, which a lot of people are, magnesium won’t work and it will make your stomach make those bubbling noises. Hope this helps.
I've been taking magnesium glycinate for a while and it's brilliant. I'm very happy to see this video because it's so informative. Another excellent video Dr Berg.
I will say that I've been taking magnesium glycinate chelated powder for a couple of years now & it has been a complete life safer and changer. Before taking it, I had a terrible case of tachycardia. And I also gave what Dr. Berg was talking about which is very low stomach acid & I can still tolerate it.
I started taking 100mg vegan, non gmo magnesium glycinate on Nov 17, 2023 and noticed an immediate improvement in the quality and duration of my sleep. I had been suffering with sleep deficiency for years ever since perimenopause kicked in. Just 100mg taken around 6:30pm has helped wonders and I’m ready to sleep around 8:30pm. I sometimes dream, so I know I’m getting deeper sleep. I wake up once or twice to go to the bathroom and get right back to sleep, just like before menopause. I also take 5000mg vegan, non gmo D3. Update: I increased my dose to 200 mg magnesium glycinate a couple of weeks ago.
I have also been taking MG recently to help with my sleep. Years of alternating shift patterns haven't done my internal body clock any favours. However, I have IBS & this supplement seems to aggravate it... causing excess & gas & passing mucus which is most unpleasant.
Thanks for continuing god's work in spite of all the mainstream health organisations businesses not really supporting it! I've taken away tons of valuable information from all across your videos!
Magnesium Bisglycinate is attached to 2 glycine molecules. 🧐Attracts less water & has much higher absorption. Glycine also helps reduce pH in small intestine, supporting absorption & preventing Magnesium deficiency. Beneficial for improving Magnesium status, generally well-tolerated & unlikely to cause diarrhea. Involved in energy metabolism, muscle contraction, DNA synthesis, blood glucose regulation & reproduction. One of the most effective bioavailable Magnesium Forms.👍😎👍
I've been taking Magnesium Glycinate 400 mg to 800 mg every single day for the past 5 years for my epilepsy. I use UltraMag because it has b6 and it is a more complex version of the supplement that breaks down slower than other versions. 400 to 600 mg Magnesium Glycinate stops my partial seizures within 30 minutes. I always make sure to have at least 200 mg during the day and always have 400 mg within an hour before bedtime. When I can't supplement I try to get magnesium from food sources, such as pumpkin seed butter, leafy greens and avocados.

I bought Dr. Berg's Magnesium Glycinate bottle and last night I took one before bed. It was amazing. I slept more than 8 hours which is what I really want for so long. I usually wake up after around 6 hours sleep. Love it.
Made the mistake of taking magnesium oxide for a while. Excellent laxative, if that's what you want. That's why milk of "magnesia" worked so well. Isn't easily absorbed either, so why take it- it's cheap. Switched to mag. glycinate and what a difference. No drizzles and relaxes my nervous system. Well worth it.
Hi Dr. Berg and all who read this. I am always troubled when anyone says they can get minerals from plants. It is certainly possible to do so given the right conditions. Plants can make vitamins. Plants CAN NOT make minerals. The mineral content of plants is solely dependent on the soil or other growth medium in which they are grown. Large scale commercial farming over the last century and flood control has depleted most of the soil in the United States. Farmers tend to only fertilize with NPK (Nitrogen, Potassium, and Iron) because this produces big beautiful plants. Unfortunately they are mostly devoid of other beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium, etc. Something to keep in mind.
I truly appreciate this kind of information and do not want to come off as rude… but would like to ask if there are any references that can be added here. I do not mean to imply that you are saying anything untrue I just would like to know where the information was learned. Thank you so much if that is something that can be provided to learn even more! 😊

Doctor Berg you fill a niche so many people appreciate. Wonderful to have this place on youtube with you. Without this space it would be hard to put together all this information on my own when I need it. You are helping me with my young athlete.
Magnesium glycinate offers unique benefits due to its high bioavailability and gentle effects on the digestive system. It is a chelated form of magnesium, meaning it is bound to the amino acid glycine, making it easier for the body to absorb. This form is less likely to cause digestive discomfort or diarrhea, which can be common with other magnesium supplements. Magnesium glycinate helps support muscle relaxation, better sleep, and reduced anxiety. It also plays a role in regulating blood pressure and supporting bone health. The glycine component may provide added benefits for calming the nervous system and improving sleep quality. Great video, Doc as always!
Thank you Dr. Berg for sharing the different types of magnesium and their absorption potential. My knowledge was limited magnesium citrate, the laxative. Have a great day!
Hi Dr.Berg. I'm 51 years old and menopausal, I use Magnesium Glycinate for over a year, and it really helped me. I felt much calmer and I could sleep beter, until I was pre-diabetic diagnosed. So my doctor put me on Metformine and he told me to stop with Magnesium Glycinate, now again I feel irritated and very poor sleep. Should I start again with Magnesium G? I also want to thank you for all the information/explanations that you share with us. Greetings from Belgium
I would find a naturopathic doctor. Metformin is dangerous. A natural based doctor will suggest something safe as well as the magnesium. Good luck, and good health!
Hello Dr Berg, I’m a huge fan of yours and like a lot of people been following you over the years I really appreciate your work. I purchased a bottle of PURE magnesium Glycinate 2 weeks ago after stumbling on this video. Prior to this I have been taking magnesium citrate for months before bed at night and I was sleeping okay, then I decided to switch to Glycinate since lots of comments here really benefit from it. I decided to take the citrate at noon and Glycinate before bed. The first few days I noticed my sleep pattern was getting worse, took me longer to fall to sleep, woke up more often and then 3 days ago I just couldn’t fall sleep at all. I’m feeling so miserable. So I stopped taking the Glycinate for couple days now just to see if it was the culprit. I watched another UA-cam channel and it says that if the person is on catabolic most of or all the time then taking supplement like magnesium would be like dumping more gasoline in to the fire, which makes your body all wired up. But I didn’t have any issues with citrate but somehow as soon as I took the Glycinate the problem started. Do you have any knowledge on situation like mine that you can share? I’m really looking forward to hear from you sir!
Problem sleeping too. I tried the calcium citrate for days and I couldnt sleep. I bought glycinate and took before bed, it didn't give me restful sleep. I feel awake the whole time. I wake up with feeling restless. Guess I need to stop taking magnesium, not for me. I need restful sleep.
Can confirm magnesium works well for retinal migraine, took me almost a year to figure out what was going on and how to fix it. Thank you for the remark about the possible inaccuracy of magnesium blood tests, I didn't know that yet.
I’ve been struggling with sleep for the last couple of years and I have tried everything until I discovered this form of magnesium and it changed my life in a day. I now wake up feeling refreshed and reenergised instead of waking up angry 😡 and with no energy.
Thank you, Dr Berg. I had terrible constipation and leg cramps when taking magnesium citrate and other supplements, I learnt about Gycenate two weeks ago and I see a bit of improvement with constipation
1 tablespoon of psyllium husk in a glass of water or fruit juice , once or twice a day will fix fix constipation. I took a vitamin E capsule for night leg cramps. Cured it immediately.
Magnesium has been a godsend. I’ve been suffering from migraines for over 10 years. I get the ones with the aura initially and then it feels like someone is bashing my head in with a hammer. I took Exedrin as the best remedy for it but it never fully cleared up the pain and subsequent brain fog. Now I take 2 magnesium tablets when I see an aura and I literally have no pain or symptoms. Amazing.

I started taking a magnesium tablet with lysine and glycine and my insomnia was cured overnight. And not even the full serving. Just 50mg did the job. Powerful stuff. Edit: 100mg not 50. Edit #2: magnesium lysinate glycinate tablets, not 3 different supplements, in case people are confused.
@@BlingyBea The brand I took was a magnesium lysinate glycinate chelate (all-in-one tablets). The company is called Doctors Best. It's two tablets per serving at 200mg. I was mistaken in my comment. I’ve been taking mag. Glycinate for last 2 months, no leg cramps, no restless legs, good sleep. More energy, feeling great.
Wonderful!
Hi I'm a diabetic how many MG of mag do I need
That's what I will use
Thank you!
I’ve also noticed a lot more stress relief. It’s like I feel like I should be stressed but I’m not. It’s great
I’m currently pregnant and have had high blood pressure readings.
Thank you
When I take this supplement, I have vivid dreams and getting to sleep is much easier.

Etc. Thank you. Hannature.

I'm so sorry that you are in this situation. I wish the almighty God heal you from this disease.

Glycine also helps reduce pH in small intestine, supporting absorption & preventing Magnesium deficiency.
Thank you Dr. Berg as always!!! And thank you for the information, especially on dosage and time to take in the video. That’s really helpful!
That's an excellent point, thank you for posting this! I had no idea people thought they could get minerals from plants.

What does it mean it it is chelated?

Hi Doc! I have a daughter 20 years old diagnosed after years with hypermobility Ehlers- Danlos syndrome and Postural tachycardia syndrome. I'm looking for another perspective from a Doctor who is a expert in these specialities. If you know of any one I sure would appreciate ! She was on her way to prelaw at Stanford University when her health issues ended up leaving her unable to continue school and facing a life of pain and a uncertain future. As her father I'm going to do whatever I can to help. Shes also my best friend. Anyhow Doc if you know of anyone would surely be appreciative! Zoes dad.
Threonate is pretty expensive
dr can you make a video about restless leg syndrome
Thank you!
We love your content and the health facts that you provide us with Dr. Berg. You’re our doctor from heaven! God bless
I’ve just started taking this supplement a few days ago to help with my muscle spasms. So far I have had a better sleep with no body twitching. Hopefully it will also help with my knee pain. I get knee pain after working out on my bike. I’ve also started to drink the smoothie that Dr Berg gave out in a video. It has helped with bloating and hopefully will help with fatty liver too.
@tartantexan007Czy moglbys podac te mieszanke na zoladek wg. przepisu doktora, bede wdzieczna
Took magnesium bisglycinate lastnight for the first time because my dr recommended it to help with sleep, muscles and anxiety. It did the opposite, i became wide awake, got tension in my head and ears and became very agitated. My anxiety has been high all day. I really hope it wears off by tonight because I really need to sleep.
Magnesium glycinate has been great for me. I don't notice any of the relaxation or sleep benefits that people claim, but it definitely prevents my palpitations and calf cramps. And doesn't wreck my stomach like other forms of magnesium. Highly reccommend.
It has killed my insomnia so I definitely recommend it for insomniacs.
@@LotusesGalaxyOceanI take 200mg and has done nothing for my insomnia 😢
Also good for 'ectopic' heart beats.
How you feeling now
