Thank you for the lesson I wanted this for a long time I will. From TANZANIA EAST AFRICA.
Great video. My Mum always grew wonderful Beetroots but i have been hopelessly unsuccessful up until now. Without Mum here to ask your video has given me fresh hope. Thanks :-)
Hi Elaine, we're glad to help. Gardening has always had a great tradition of passing knowledge on from one generation to another, hopefully we can continue in the same way.
This was a very informative and engaging video. Thank you so much for making it and sharing it. I've tried to grow beetroot in the past but without much success. From watching your video I understand that I didn't thin the plants out enough, didn't keep them watered enough and I fed them about fortnightly with a liquid feed that focused on nitrogen. I'm feeling optimistic that I'll be able to grow a good crop of beetroot now. It's almost sowing time for it in New Zealand (where I live).
Enjoyed this video and will grow some beetroot this year thanks.
It looked good and the crunch sounded amazing yum
Thanks, there's nothing better than fresh vegetables straight from the garden!
Perfect climate for vegetables of all kinds
great video, thanks , i learnt alot ..
Excellent video, thanks again
Finally some folks I can understand First time Beet grower ,I am leaning toward mostly storage keepers I live East coast Raw can’t wait growing times for my zone so confusing
Hi Liz, we don't tend to get caught up with zonal growing times here, we get it in the ground and hope for a good Spring and Summer!!
Great soil you have! And thank you for the video! I know how healthy beetroot is!
Thanks for all your videos. I'm just about to start growing my own... lucky enough to have a big plot with a new polytunnel and greenhouse... but zero experience. I'll have a look at each of your videos before I start off each crop... here goes.
Wow beet root! so far this is the most easy tutorial in growing beets.. but unfortunately seeds here in the Philippines are hard to find. Congrats..
Thanks for the video. Any thoughts on soaking seeds overnight? Have heard it being recommended.
Thank you so much
I like your videos
Can they grow from the top of a previous beet? I mean after eating them, re-planting the top?
I tried plugs recently with no real success - but, looking at your video suggests that a) My cells were too shallow and, b) I didn't wait long enough before transplanting! Very nice video, by the way. Nice and relaxed and easy to absorb. Thank you very much.
Its often a good idea to allow time for the seedlings to develop a strong root , its always tempting to get them into the ground as soon as possible.
I like them 1 1/2" to 2" Dia. So I plant lots....the bigger ones l find are not as nice....I grow several varieties.....
What climax could beets grow in? I live in Alberta and the hottest it ever gets is maybe 30 degree Celsius and its typically hot only from May-August. But the weather can be hot one day then cold the next, what do you recommend to garden with a city that have inconsistent weather?
They are very well behaved chickens.
Hello how do you get seeds from the plant itself?
Hello, our climate here in Sligo is fairly similar to yours, ie: very unpredictable with a short window of hot/warm weather. here is a link to beetroot planting information on our site
I live in coastal British Columbia and we have the same climate except it is more extreme. Like its can get to -20 in the winter where we are and +40 in summer. In the interior its gets much more extreme.
I hav got to try growing these. will check for local planting times. I am in Tulsa,Ok,USA
In Europe beetroot can be planted from mid-Spring right through to late Summer making successive sowings for a lengthy harvest. If you are frost free I imagine the growing season can be even longer in Tulsa.
Wow,that's nice. Got to try this. I hav been told that beet when juiced is great for liver
I see Klaus has Chickens how does he keep them out of the garden... have followed your tips for most plants as live in South Otago New Zealand. So far the best garden I have ever had.
Very cooooool
Can turnips also be started in pots like what you did with the beetroots?
Super sir
Very much informative and useful video. It had been better if you had washed it before eating.
Can you put dates when you plant on your videos please
Die ganz jungen pflanzen schmecken sehr lecker als salat . Sind sehr gesund . Wir bauen rote beete nur wegen der jungen blätter an .
Lg aus Südamerika 🌴🌵😎
Woww
Where do you get your seeds from?
Those very nice seeds are clumped, 2 or 3 seeds in one. Needs thinning most likely. If you are in another grow zone than northern Ireland you are better off finding a seed company that produces seeds in your grow zone where the veggies were grown. Veggies grown in a warmer climate and the seeds will do better when seeds are grown in nearly the same climate. That is why I am saving seeds from my plants that love my soil and climate. So much fun. Very rewarding.
have planted beets - growing for a month, only to find bulbs growing underneath ! What do I do please?
Maybe you should decide. Lillies or beets? If you have the space you can transplant one of them.
Please can u grow them without nursing them
👌
You can add azomite to organically add boron and all trace elements to your soil.
+Daniel Tognazzini Hi Daniel, yes Azomite or any other finely ground volacanic basalt is a excellent soil improver, we have had great success using it with brassicas. Thanks for watching! Andrew
beet juice is excellent.
Yes, it has remarkable health benefits, very good for the heart and circulatory system. T.
2019 anyone??
Waw
Just throw the seeds in the floor and mix it, thats it !! it'll take care of itself !
It will take care of itself, nature has a way of doing that. But when we
cultivate crops we grow vegetables more efficiently, increasing yield
and preventing pests and diseases.
I was told beetroot does not transplant well, well I see you miss proved that idea, Im sure as long as you get the full root they are ok. I grow the long ones as I can pickled beets and love to juice them.
Hi Noel, Yes, we find that beetroot does survive transplanting quite well. Like with most young seedlings it is important not to crush the stem with unneccesary manhandling, always handle them by the leaves. When transplalnting ensure that you have a good sized, well watered root ball and at least two true leaves have formed. Good luck, Tony.
Hi Noel. I would also make the point that beetroot needs to be out of the modular trays quickly, if it gets constricted it won't grow on well which is why people say you can't transplant it. We grow in 84 cell trays and make sure the beet plants are out after 3-4 weeks.
Did you wash it before you ate it? lol
there was a chicken on the left side of the screen at 2:41
+Lightning Hound45 Hi - well spotted - there is a chicken just there as you said. I can see from you own videos you are aspiring film-maker and obviously have an eye for detail. Thanks for watching and leaving comments.
Why don’t you do videos anaymore I miss them
Hi David. Time is the enemy on making videos but we have more planned for this Summer. We have a new one just out on polytunnel irrigation and another on fruit cages next week. I'm starting to shoot a series on ornamental gardening at the end of the month. Sorry for the lack of videos over the last while. Andrew
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
These are good tips for beginners, but I caution you not to hang on every word they are saying. When Klaus says "sow in late April" he's talking about for his grow zone. Your grow zone may differ, and I'd say do some research as to when your last frost date is in your area and plan seeding crops accordingly.
The beetroot leaves are more nutritious than its fruit by the way
Islamic and traditional medicine is found since the time of prophet David and today the scholars of this field are curing cancers, infertility, tumors, HIV, Hepatitis, cysts and all the diseases you can imagine which has no cure in Modern chemical medicine!
so long story short, we use beetroot leaves for these diseases:
arthritis, Alzheimer and to purify the blood and remove the toxins and making red blood cells in the body
washing the head with the boiled beetroot leaves remove the dandruff and cure fatty hair
and other benefits we get from beetroot leaves .
P.S it's not a medicine based on granny remedies, it's a scientific field we are following
I would love to see the scientific evidence, we have a great interest in nutrition.
Iman Faith thanks for the good information, but dont bring religion to farming and medicine, cause the modern techniques of farming and health care shows most of the religious faiths are wrong..
Mmmmmm
After all that, as if he just hacked in in half with all the soil on like a fucking goblin at the end
could have wash u hands and beet
Woww
Excellent videos. I have grown beets for many years using what you call modular trays. I call them plug trays. I have never thinned the plants finding that given enough space between each group of seedlings the beets will create their own space and grow perfectly fine right next to each other.
