I'm editing a video with one beet...one! You just showed me up big time. 😂Going to cut mine down to a short and hang my head in shame, lol. Keep up the great work!
Whoopps sorry Mike😄 It's been long overdue, I couldn't put my head together on this video, I'm glad I finally finish it. Thank you!💜
Yes you can I’m doing g it in May with seedlings I grew in April, so far all is well and yes It’s coco coir and perlite
@@blessisrael6455yes, see below post, I tried to tag you but it didn’t work. Good luck
@@Katya-zj7ni Oh, I have Coco Coir bricks to grow seeds, so I just add the perlite and I can grow it in net cups rather then clay pebbles ?
@@blessisrael6455I followed her instructions to the letter and they’re growing well, it’s day 18 and they look like the video. However I’m going to try the turnips she also shows ( with seedlings ) and use the net cups and pebbles as an experiment. Good luck ❤
(Yes the beets are in coco and perlite )
I feel so calm watching this
This is the single greatest root-focused hydroponics video on the internet.
I wish I could like this video 19,000 times xx
Great video, I am impressed by how many people use this Kratky method adaptation with soil filled cups in Styrofoam containers. The Philippines has thousands of gardeners, and do really well with this approach.
Thanks Matt!🌱💜
Really … ? Wow, I didn’t know it’s that popular; if they can do it in the Philippines which, being a country that’s economically impoverished, then we should definitely be able to do it here; G-d Bless….. ; )
Thank u very much
Thats unbelievably great , thank you for sharing instructions i am going to try it
That is the biggest, most beautiful beet I’ve ever seen……. It puts grocery store ones to absolute shame; the leaves are great for a salad and LOVE using beets in fermented vegetables; amazing !!!!
Very nice garden. I'm going to do it in my grow tent. Wish me luck.
just what I was looking for thank you
The boss fight music at 1:40 is what did it for me
You remind me of my late Father. He was doing same technique/way of growing vegetables.
I sure hope your dehydrating those beautiful leaves
Please tell me about the cups. Size and where to buy. Awesome video. Subscribed!!!
wow i didn't think radishes could get that big
Can you show me how do you control ph of the container solutions and how do you top up solutions and control E.C.
Nice job! Thanks for sharing.
Amazing video. Thank you so much
This is a great video. Especially for a newbie wanting to grow root vegetables the krachy way. My only question is I noticed when pouring your nutrients from your 5 gallon pail (yellowish tinge to the nutrients) into your styrofoam container. You used all of your 5 gallons of nutrients. Then you topped up the remaining portion and it appeared to be just water because it did not have the yellow tinge to it like your nutrients do. So what size container is your styrofoam box how many gallons or liters. Judging by the size of your Solo cups that you're using as net cups and the amount of holes in your lid I'm assuming it's approximately about 9 or 10 gallons. Approximately how much extra water did you put in with your original 5 gallon of to top up the system? I'm just afraid if I put in my container which is 10 gal two 5 gallon pails of nutrients that are over full strength like that. I may burn my seedlings. Thank for any comments in advance.
Did you ever figure out? I overlooked it but now that I’m checking it does seem like he replenished the rest of the missing space with plain water.
I came to the same conclusion as you. Although it appears that he's mixing the nutrient solution a little on the weak side. The recommendation for 10 gallons of water would be approximately 32 grams of Master blend tomato formula judging by him using a heaping 15 mm measuring spoon I calculated it out to be approximately 24 g maybe 25 of Master blend. So he's not far off but it is a little on the weaker side. That being said I did try it over the winter here and it did not go well. How to get a grow tent kept the temperature below 70° and had a lot of root rot. The beats never got really large but the leaves did so managed to get lots of greens. Thanks for your reply.
Came over from KeepOnGrowin
What is the timeframe of chabging nutrients solutions once a week twice a week or once a month. Please guide me
love this type of growing videos, pls keep posting more kratky hydroponic method🥰
Thank you!💜
Great video, do you put the cups with seeds in the grow solution before they sprout or wait until they have sprouted? Also I have a clear plastic base, should I cover the base to block the sunlight? Thanks in advance!
Can’t wait to try!!
I❤ this tutorial layout and how it informative and instructions is easy to follow along for a newbie to hydroponics also who doesn't like to weed stray grass but plant and just eat the rewards of food😊 Thank you for sharing
You're welcome! Happy to share🌱🙂
galing naman ng mga info mo dito kaibigan..thanks
I am brand new to hydroponics. I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to. Why is the nutrient solution mix so much stronger for root crops such as beets and onions compared to say, lettuce or tomatoes for example?
My guess is that more Phosphorous and potassium is needed in order for the toots to swell and be large, otherwise you'll just get regular roots.
@@msfullroller Thank you! That answers my question!
Love your videos! When eill you upload the carrots?
Where do you get the styrofoam boxes?
I need to know where to get those growing containers
Be warned and line them well, not totally waterproof as Ifound out. I got mine from online meat and fresh fish orders but they’re on Amazon too
You surprise us every content you uplaod lalabs we learned more about videos keep it up 👍💋
Thank you so much lalabs😘
super nice job! 😃
Very educational and informative
What size net cups are those?
Fantastic video.
Are roots vegetables like beet ,turnip etc grown hydroponically safe for human consumption
Thanks for this great video. I had a question. While using the growing mixture and containers in the sun doesn't it develop algae on the surface of growing media? The growing media being in direct contact with water how to ensure algae doesn't grow.
The containers are a snug fit, besides they are filled with coco noir and perlite so no sunlight should really penetrate through. For extra protection you could probably use aluminum foil to cover the lid and a heat insulation mat around the reservoir
If you used bigger cups could the beets grow bigger?
Wow nice❤
I love your channel.hydro is life. What are using to grow beets in ? Love the depth and size of the styrofoam container. Trying this inside soon.
Thank you! 💜 The growing medium is mix of 50-50 cocopeat & perlite, the netpot are 3" seedling pots from dollar tree or 8oz foam cups will do too.🌱🙂
@@healinghobbiesCan you grow other ground vegetables like this, like garlic, cabbage or carrots… ? Would masterblend work too ? Thanks ! ; )
Yes, I've tried garlic, cauliflower, carrots using Masterblend. I have a video on garlic too. I am yet to try cabbage this fall season.🌱🙂
@@healinghobbies That’s great to know; Btw, I tried everything you did in your video and it failed; but, there was one thing I didn’t do that you did which I believe led to my downfall-
I didn’t have the $ to buy the coco/perlite mix you used and had to do something with my beet seedlings, so I used a peat moss mix potting soil instead with rocks and the soil got soaked and the plants withered;
Right now, I just put the beet plants in a pool noodle leaving the roots exposed to the nutrients in a can, and they’re actually doing great, but I have to do something because they can’t grow beets where they’re at; I’m trying to figure out how and where to get that mixture that will hold up to the nutrients…… thanks !! ; )
Can I use peat moss and perlite?
Being inspired by your videos, right now trying to grow just one Eggplant 🍆, its so hot here in summer the water gets heat so much, don't know i will be successful or not...
Great work. Inspiring. 😊. R u doing anything for pest control. It will be very helpful if u include that information as well in the video, if any. Also info regarding any diseases affecting plants and its remedy.
Thank you! Typically I use neem oil for Aphids and whiteflies to control pest. That would a great content to consider. 🌱🙂
@@healinghobbies ❤️ thank you. I am in to soil Farming. Planning to start soilless based on your video. Really Motivational.😊
Why use cocopeat and perlite? Can’t I just use styrofoam to hold each seedling and nutrient rich water please?
Hi! Do u add water to container after this is set up ? Tks.
Question: what are these containers? It looks like Styrofoam with a bag in it?
hi po..I started lettuce hydroponics pwedi po ito ang gamitin sa red beets?
Yes po red beets siya
Excellent sir I am your new subscribers 😊
great video
Wonderful! So the next step, can beets be grown using Kratky under shop lights? :)
Yes, I did mine all Winter in spare room
They grew into a fantastic size🍺🍺
Hi what ppm and ph u use for beetrot?
This is brilliant! Where do you get these styrofoam containers?
Probably dollar stores or any grocery store, maybe online but most likely more expensive
I have probably 100 buckets but are about 25 gallons maybe and I was wondering if these are just too big to use? And I don’t have lids for them.
I have 55 gallon plastic drums that I've cut in half put wood covers over top of them piece of plywood. And put 12-in net pots into them and screwed the net pot down to to the lid and then you can grow large size plants like tomatoes without having to worry about. And if you're growing the kracky method you will just use a little more nutrient
I don't know where to get the styro foam containers at??
This is a DIY grow box, home depot sells the styrofoam board and I made a video on how to make it too.I hope this helps.🌱🙂
Is this best done in a greenhouse only? If you have it outdoors say when it rains will that interfere in the nutrients?
Prom my perspective and with all due respect, if it’s raining that often where you live, I don’t see the convenience in growing hydroponically. But regardless of that, I think taping a dome of aluminum foil onto the cups could provide sufficient protection to rain 👍🏼
Where can we buy?
What nutrient use sir
What about Micro Nutrient? How they are added. NPK, EPSOM Salt and Calcium Nitrate do not have Micros in them.
Yes they do, master blend kit is a complete formula just follow measurements accordingly
Do you tape the side for re enforcement or keep light out
Yes for reinforcement 🌱🙂
Ways thrmocoal sheet broken heavy weight
So the nutrients are concentrated except the salt? Is that right?
There is no salt. It’s calcium nitrate.
@@SoSheree Epsom salt is the second thing added to the water...
I is that a polystyrene box? Thank you in advance x
Yes it's a DIY grow box made from polystyrene/foamboard.🙂🌱
Thank you for replying! Sorry I didn’t notice. Excellent video ❤❤❤
What type of water container are u growing in
It's a DIY grow box made out of Styrofoam board. Feel free to check some of the videos. I have also made one on how to make it.🌱🙂
may i know what is the space (cm) between each plant cup
The center distance is about 4 inches and the hole distance is about 1.5 inches.🌱🙂
What size pots do normally use ❤
Mostly I use 3" (8oz foam cups & seedling pots)🌱💜
Thanks so much I have some old Rubbermaid storage tables and I'm going to use the drawers for the solution and craft foam for the tops and just to let you know I'm a old Illinois farm girl thought I knew it all but learning something new from you all the time keep up the great work love your channel ❤
Oh thank YOU!💜 I'm glad to know the info(videos) I share helps in some ways and please know that I appreciate and value the info and gardening experiences you share too. It helps! LET'S GROW!🌱🙂
HAPPY GROWING 😊
How do you make the boxes?
This is made out of foamboards from home depot. Here is how to make it ua-cam.com/video/DfDqsObRkV4/v-deo.html🌱😊
@healinghobbies Thank you for sharing your information on the boxes. I'm excited to try it out. 😊
@@healinghobbies foam/polystyrene can leech toxic chemicals although in low amounts. I think lining the inside with plastic would solve it. A cheap way would use large garbage bag. Those are ldpe/hdpe which are the same as usual polybags. Tape em nicely
Sir Is it organic?
No its not organic.🌱😊
Organic standards only pertain to soil grown produce.
Have you grown multiple plants in one container?
Not yet, but that is interesting! I would probably give a try. Thank you!🌱🙂
