There's so much Paul Mcartney, blackbird, mother natures son in this song. The acoustic really powered their debut album, regardless of the Rockman sound. I was in 6th grade when this album came out- and we noticed it. Breath of fresh air.
You have no idea how long I’ve waited for someone to make a video of this song. It’s the best song Boston ever made in my opinion and I’ve tried for countless hours to figure it out. Thank you!!!!!
No question about it, you are a master guitarist, and the leading teacher/instructor on UA-cam. Everything you play is absolutely on the ball, informative and beautifully executed. Top man!
Incredible instruction. Clear, flawless, easy to follow. The best guitar instructor for intermediate guitarists on UA-cam. Thank you for this. I’m transported back to 1976.
you are without a doubt the best guitar instruction on you tube ! great songs like this one from the seventies make me want to play every day again. i remember when i was 18 back in '76 i could only wish i could play like this.... thanks to you maybe learn this great classic....cheers tim
@@davidflint12 hey dave.. i got my first guitar ( a red label yamaha FG-300 ) in '74 when i first started to play...glad to see others still jamming after all these years ....i sure do like all the info on you tube these days..we come a long way in 46 years.... Shutup and play is my favorite...good to hear from you and keep rocking......
Your lessons Are The most accurate, most fun to learn from. Your approach and joy of playing all contribute to making us viewers better guitar players. Such amazing gifts you give to us is such a huge contribution to us players, making the world a much more enjoyable world!
I am a major Boston fan. Listening to this gives me chills to hear solid gold coming out of that sound hole. I am amazed at how simple this is to play. I didn't say easy. LOL
I just watched a few other UA-camrs try and teach this song,. It is quickly obvious how much time and effort you put into your lessons. I love how you nail every song note for note. Thank you!
I just left about the same reply. It's like that with all the songs he teaches. Learn it right & you'll play it right & be happy you did. Plus he doesn't bore you to death. Keeps it fun!
I have been on YT for years, never seen your channel found it today and six hours later still playing. Thanks a great selection of songs to choose from, you have truly re-inspired me. Cheers!
You obviously put as much thought into your video production as you do the actual lesson. Your background & clothing are all black plus thoughtful lighting which all together, places the full focus on your hands & the guitar. Magnificent!
Always great. Your lessons always balance the basics, the advanced guitar parts, and theory without wasting time. Its a real talent. Thanks for all the effort. Oh, and everyone should "Shut up and PAY". I have.
this project is amazing. the musicians work so hard to nail the tone and the notes perfectly. i have seen the bands live that do alot of these songs and many don’t do them as well. such great work and thank you for sharing it.
So glad you got "carried away" lol. The lesson is frickin amazing! And the demo is worth listening to on its own as an instrumental. You are a YT treasure sir.
i have so enjoyed watching your breakdowns and history of every song you so masterfully teach over the past almost ten years. You attention to the details and nuances of every song has helped me become a more accomplished player...from the grace notes to what you 'think you hear on the record', (I call them ghost notes), your videos are truly inspiring in they make me believe that I can learn to play as well as you(Maybe....someday). I hope that all is getting better with your health, and can only wish you the best! Godspeed and thank you!
Great lesson as usual Andy, thx. Going to slide on over to the website to make a donation. Everyone else try to do the same if you can. I don't know about you but I look forward to Saturdays to see what Andy has posted. They are the best lessons on the tube as far as I"m concerned.
Thank you to you and your crew for doing this, I'm in Chicago about to be locked down for the next 2.5 weeks. I'm going through your catalogue and will have plenty to keep me busy.
You are a very good teacher. Very patient, I watched many teachers or so call teachers, and I also have to figure out rest of song on my own. Because some teachers are a little to fast, or miss out some questions, this is just my experience and my opinion, I could be completely wrong. I been playing for about 40 years, I wish I had UA-cam growing up. Because, I would have learned things on the guitar so much earlier in my life. And I would of been much better. But great Job, came across your video on Fire and Rain, James Taylor, great Job. Thank you..❤👍
Thank you sir. Figuring out the solos and harmony lines on electric guitar were relatively easy. What you just demonstrated here was something that I was close in figuring out, but only about 90% correct and harder than it had to be.
Went and watched you play the song on your site, All i can say is : Spectacular Excellence. I wish I had 1 millionth of your talent. I can tell you have put Many,Many, Many hours of work in to get that Great on the Guitar. I admire the discipline you had in learning your instrument.
I love the first Boston album. All the songs are just great, like your teaching capabilities. May I suggest also from the same album: Foreplay / Long Time? Quite long though to do a lesson on...
Most people today don't realize just how huge Boston was back in the 70s, when that first album came out in '76 it really changed Rock and Roll as did there second album '78's Don't Look Back. Gotta remember it was the height of Disco and Boston saved us from that God-awful crap.
I was 16 when it came out..I remember the day I heard "More than a Feeling" for the first time..It was on vinyl from a friend who said come over and hear this!..(back then we had to sit in front of the radio and WAIT for a new song to be played)..I also remember Rush "2112" out at the same time.. There was a ton of great music coming out back then..My god, I miss my youth.
That album was lightening in a bottle. They could never match the brilliance of it on their other albums. I literally just listened to it the other day on vinyl. The way it was meant to be heard.
@Steven Lindsey great lesson I absolutely love Boston right in the Wheelhouse of my teen years funny back then I didn't care for disco and funk so much but when I hear some now I think that's pretty damn cool stuff.
Most people here refer to Boston as they. Tom recorded all the parts of More then a Feeling from what I've read all by himself except the drum parts I think. There was no Boston Band at the time of Tom recording this album.
Thanks Carlos. I put a huge amount of time and effort into making these videos. I like to keep them free for those that can't afford it, but if you can, please support what I do. Cheers, Andy www.shutupandplay.ca/donate.html
man all these great songs are flooding back that was mazing thankyou I'm playing on nylon strings so sounding like a mini spanish boston boy getting by
I dunno why but I always found Boston to be easy to play but hard as crap to figure out so I never learned anything past More Than feeling back when I was young. I gotta say this guy sure makes it a LOT easier!
Hi Andy! good stuff and one of my favorites! No one and I mean no one teaches as well as you do. When you get around to doing a 3 or 4 part teaching of the "promenade the SAGE" Greg Lake, is the day I send you a $200 donation to your channel. NO BS. Cheers from Michigan!
Thanks for the excellent lesson for this classic. Can you clarify: right around 5:10 you say the "first Interval is G5, and E7" - but it looks (and sounds!) like you are actually picking " 'D5' and E7", same with the second interval, sounds like "D4 and E5" - am I misunderstanding this? thanks!
To all of you tuning in to learn how to play this, watch the Lexington Lab Band play this and you'll want to learn it that much more.👍 Been playing for 53 years and they're the best I've seen in awhile. And check out their playlist.

Tom scholz rockman on every other page in guitar magazines 4 sale.

That’s how I feel about all Boston songs. I say_______ is the best Boston song ever. You fill in the blank. Lol
Austin Cummins it's not too bad either. The acoustic part anyhow
“That ending bit” starting at 17:23 was fantastic. I have never heard Hitch A Ride played acoustically, but your playing is wonderful.
I'm in that same boat brother. I'm so thankful this man broke it down for us. It is one of my favorite songs of all times.
Lexington Lab Band plays a good cover of this song on UA-cam.
No question about it, you are a master guitarist, and the leading teacher/instructor on UA-cam. Everything you play is absolutely on the ball, informative and beautifully executed. Top man!
And well explained with great insight.

You could do the entire body of their work and nobody would complain. Thank you very, very much for this.
My all-time favorite song.
You are a gifted teacher my friend!
Thank You.
You'll learn it the right way here

I have been on YT for years, never seen your channel found it today and six hours later still playing. Thanks a great selection of songs to choose from, you have truly re-inspired me. Cheers!
I think you’re getting me out of my acoustic guitar slump I’ve been trying to play out of. Great lessons.
You are simply the best guitar tutor on youtube...God bless you!
BRAVO. NOT over explained, perfect for the intermediate guitarist. Thank you!!
You obviously put as much thought into your video production as you do the actual lesson. Your background & clothing are all black plus thoughtful lighting which all together, places the full focus on your hands & the guitar. Magnificent!
I had the chills through out this whole video....most awesome song,,,always been a favorite of mine
Thank you for showing how to play "Hitch a Ride" the correct way! EXCELLENT!
Always great. Your lessons always balance the basics, the advanced guitar parts, and theory without wasting time. Its a real talent. Thanks for all the effort. Oh, and everyone should "Shut up and PAY". I have.
Easily one of the best guitar teachers on youtube. He will take you from a beginner/moderate player to being an expert.

dimebag Darrell you safe ?
Beautiful song and beautiful teaching...thanks a lot for your time and sharing I really appreciate it
When Andy puts on his black shirt, great things happen!
Didn't even notice that. A nice way to minimize distraction. Great lesson all-around!
It's a strong decision for the optics of it....just hands and guitar. Good production forethought.
Yea for real . Unbelievable guitar pickin and teaching happens .
Always the best, most accurate, instruction. Great during this crazy pandemic when we're all locked down.

In ‘76 one would have to pick the needle up about 100 times to catch all these changes. You’ve made it too easy for everyone. Great job.
What a great tutorial. Once again, some of the best guitar parts in history were deceptively simple.
Quite possibly my favorite Boston song. I will follow your vid to the ’T’. Thanks a million.
Love playing the song.I just capo at 1st fret.Learned a lot of parts I was missing so thank you!

You can't overstate the understated genius of Tom Scholz.
Great lesson! Especially during this time of self-imposed quarantine!
So love the guitar! And really appreciate just getting to the point with your teaching. Great videos about great music.
That’s fantastic, one of Bostons best songs !

Fantastic, as per usual. Thank you for showing us the proper way to play all these great songs.

Cool. I’ve been playing it correctly for years. Thanks for the confirmation.🤩

Other people play the song or try but you teach it correctly!!!
You probably didn't realize the brilliant song you were learning. B side Boston tune back then. Today? Pure genius
Thank you, thank you so much for doing this lesson! I love this song so much and have always wanted to play it properly. You are awesome!
One of my favourite songs.....thanks for doing this !! Cheers ...Great job too.
I needed this. I now have nothing but time to learn it. Good timing!
Beautiful! Great Job! You should have seen the convoluted way I've sorta taught myself the song in Bb. It was a mess. Thank You.
Doing it in standard tuning! You r my hero...
This si one of the greatest songs of all time! As far as you playing this song, are you in a band that plays it? If so is there a video?
My favorite Boston song; thank you, thank you, thank you!
Man you are a awesome guitar picker . So spot on . Love it .
About time I had a go at this one, thx. Your guitar sounds amazing, by the way.

Dude, my guitar teacher was an original member of Styx!
George Really??? Who is it?
@@andrewrichardson3135 It was JC (John Curulewski). Lovely guy. Miss him. He passed away in his late 30's I believe.
George Oh :(
Awesome lesson on an extraordinarily awesome song. Love your enthusiasm.
Thank you for doing this song. I like the way you explain everything 👍🏼
Beautiful tutorial as always!
Could you please do a tutorial of "I'll follow the Sun" by The Beatles? :)
Best lesson on the internet.....thanks
I dunno why but I always found Boston to be easy to play but hard as crap to figure out so I never learned anything past More Than feeling back when I was young. I gotta say this guy sure makes it a LOT easier!
Great guitarrist and teacher ..
