Skeleton spam is super lore friendly. In the books "Vampire Wars", "Vampireslayer" and Nagash trilogy it was all about large armies of skelly bois and zombos.
I did not like the Vampire Wars trilogy, it made Isabella Von Carstein into a full Bathory, but Warhammer already HAD a Bathory in the form if the Tsarina Vampire, hell, even the OG Lahmian sorta fit too. It felt unnecessary and made her and Vlad less distinct from Mannlet and the other guy.

Like: guys, all you had to do was delay the entire enemy army. What part didn't you get? Chaos spawns controllable? dafuq? didn't even think of this yet, but indeed: a spawn pulling back is like burning water: you can write it down, but it aint gonna happen... oh, and OP, maybe he was only being cynical about the armour.
@@bogdanleshenko7149 And yet, the rampage passive exists. Why on earth isn't it slapped on the Chaos Spawn, which is lore-wise the single closest unit to needing such a thing?
"Only the Bastiladon can withstand the heat of the solar engine" is a pretty dumb lore reason because the Skink crew operating in close proximity to the solar crystal should get cooked alive if that was the case.
“So greenskins suck except for the doomdiver” Me: *looks at campaign where entire army got routed by three empire stacks, only for Grimgor to get 500 kills and win the battle* Okay, but have you considered that I’m the one true git.
Actually, having a giant in army is not that bad if you have no alternative, like Malagor starting with one, and it's tier 5 unit in tier 1 army. He could be effective for some time before you get to better units. It's recruiting giants what's a heresy, because you can recruit better units instead.
@@KazeKoichi Which is why I like the expanded roster mod for Beastmen. Sure the "Ghorgon" is just a dual weilding minotaur scaled up to giant height. But it's got like 71 speed. (And the minotaur rolling and shoulder slam animations are terrifying when a 40 foot giant slams down on like a third of an infantry formation at once.)
The bloated corpse is garbage. Takes up one of your valuable unit slots that could hold a Necrofex Colossus, or at least SOMETHING that won't have to be replaced right after. It slows you down if you don't have the ability to raise another, it charges you per use, and if the enemy has any ranged at all, they'll easily take it out 9 times out of ten. Mammoth on the other hand, doesn't require replacement every time, and can charge through the enemy lines to pester the missiles. Apples to oranges, friend.
@@OtterSpace975 every one knows that by the time you you can recruit necrofix , you are not going to have a lot of bloated corpses ,they are EARLY GAME units , plus they are a meme unit which makes them a must have . I'm guessing your a multi-player person as they are absolutely shit in multi , but I have literally never lost a single bloated corpse to the AI without killing a bunch of them with it , not a single one .
you mean people who do play warhammer? Skeletons, even in age of sigmar, are very expensive as they are best played in mass. you idealy want skeleton units in 30 or 40s, and its about 35 bucks for a box of 10 skellies. If your running a skeleton focused army, its gonna cost you. True to most horde armies where you can only get units in boxes of 10. If your gonna run something like goblins or skink-focused beastmen, it would cost less then a skelly focused legions/vampire counts.
@@gabbo7101 It's a wonder why GW has become a shadow. Far too expensive and it's a shame they killed their LOTR game. I played 40k over fantasy. Preferred Dawn of War over that. @@helikos1 It is lol. It's still one of the biggest names and most successful lol. Most people still buy from it because it's better than most places. I can buy a box of figures for about 25-30 and another place will sell for 40
I really like the dragon stack for highelves too. Might not be as versatile as the sisters, but very few ai armies are going to have the amount of ranged units needed to kill a full army of dragons. Your dragon breath attacks are going to wipe out pretty much everything. One dragon breath will pretty much kill or at least take out a giant chunk of any group of units, so that when you do land they are already pretty decimated. Plus each dragon has more than one charge on their breath, so you can just hang out in the air waiting for it to cooldown and use it again. Every fight i had with them was basically this. 1: use all first breath attacks on their ranged units. 2: with ranged units dead or running i wait for cooldown. 3: now i use breath on anything else. 4: rinse and repeat until breath attacks are done. Very few armies are going to be alive still after using all your breath charges. And any that are, will not survive the dragon slamming down from the sky into melee.
I would actually really like to see faction guides from Legend. Like what the cheese is, how to use their agents (specifically their traits), and potentially technologies. I just think his gameplay is so outstanding that I want to imitate it and use it to grow my proficiency in the game. In case Legend reads this: thank you for the content! You produce amazing videos and watching you play has easily elevated my play from barely passable at Very Hard to Legendary.
I'd like to make an argument for the Poison Wind Mortars instead of the Ratling Gunners. Yes, the Ratling guns make most field battles into a one-sided slaughter. They are incredibly strong. However, three poison-wind mortars are almost able to auto-win any siege battle by themselves if you are patient enough. Especially with the support of a warlock engineer.
Hell, I think Jezzails are the most required unit in the skaven doomstack. It is basically Plague Priests, Ratling Guns, Catapults, Mortars, and Jezzails. Well, the catapults can kinda do the mortar's job and vice versa. The Ratling Guns are unnecessary half the time because nothing but shattered remnants make it past the longer-range stuff. But you need something to kill enemy artillery, steam tanks, flying lords, wizards, etc. And the jezzail are the ones to get that done. Best to have all of the different Dakka, but the Jezzails are the least optional in my book. And unlike ratling guns, they can help in a siege (albeit with some luck about map layout, you need ideally a hill overlooking the walls, or a side angle on the battlements or most of their shots are wasted).
Mortars are good, but the sheer damage output of ratling guns makes them way better, not to mention they have a slowing effect on anything caught in their barrage.
@@pocketshit Shadowdart +35% range, Barbstorm gives you mostly ammo and only +5% range, it is still good pick but if you want to outrange HE for example you need shadowdart

It's very interesting how all your advice is an exact parallel of the tabletop game. VC armies are HQ based, Orks are suppose to be cheap, trash numerous units. Dwarf strengths are their arty and leadership. Skaven make use of their inventiveness.
Since Legend doesn't mention it himself, Instant Gaming is what's called a gray market key reseller - they're not an authorized seller of game keys. Rather, they buy them in bulk in regions where they're cheap and resell them in regions of the world where they cost more. Sometimes this works without a hitch, other times you'll find that the game you've been playing suddenly for a while suddenly disappeared from your Steam account, or that the key simply doesn't work (usually it says that it has already been used). Gray market key resellers can save you a lot of money, but it's always a gamble and it's important that people know that.
You are making it sound like if that's common. It isn't really. I've got several keys from sites like g2a and for years got literally 0 problems apart from one I got and didn't work. The seller just gave me a new one in 10 minutes and works untill now perfectly.
If I remember Instant Gaming buys keys in bulk from devs and shops, obviously with discount, slap a bit of a margin on top and sell them. (and yes buying keys elsewhere and activating them in Steam is legitimate and supported thing) Didnt hear any shenanigans about cheap russian keys being sold into different region - thats more of a G2A thing.
@@simonsalgueiro6217 I didn't mean to imply that it's really common, I honestly don't know how common it is. I think some gray market resellers are more reliable than others, and I don't know enough about IG to say either way. I just think people should know that the risk exists, and that if it happens you're out of luck.
One thing I noticed about bloated corpses is that they have a ridiculously high auto resolve value. Not to mention if you play Vampire Coast in a blob liek you do with the counts you can use bloated corpses hiding in nearby forests as a pseudo wind of death and eliminate 3 units with one.
@Jordan Winders Well if you check the stat, their not supposed to be that bad, but they dont perform for a tier 3 unit. No missile resist and low armor piercing value, can't hold the line at all and well High Elve are a ranged focus faction, having really good range unit.
24:00: "The AI is not necessarily going to recruit armies to take out your doomstacks" Tell that to the Empire in my Kholek campaign. I was spamming Draggon Ogre Shaggoths, I actually had seven doomstacks of the things rampaging around the map by this point, and then they started hunting my lords (which can't stay grouped up because horde infighting) down with large groups of full armies consisting of about 75% pikes, halberds, and huntsmen. The few units that WEREN'T anti-large were anti-armor...
I'm pretty sure when you get the top tier units for chaos they dont take the horde attrition. i had my archaon with full stack of chosen and kholek with full stack of shaggoths and was fine. maybe its a technology or on the skill tree idk.
Lizardmen is my most played faction, and I've completed all their campaigns (long) except with Itza. I agree on the Stegadon. It's hard to pick one unit out, but this is the most easily available and versatile unit, and 1-2 of them in a siege (along with a spellcaster) and you can destroy any army almost regardless of what other units you have. (Since it can break gates you can immediately start battle without building equipment). Other units I always include in my main armies: - Bastiladon (Revivification Crystal) x 1 or x 2 (it can't heal itself) for those "never-return-to-recruit" armies. - Bastiladon (Solar Engine) x 1 just because it's so damn powerful against infantry (ranged or not). - Ancient Stegadon (Engine of the Gods). It's not as cruicial, but it absolutely devastates infantry like nothing else. Dread Saurus' are virtually unbeatable, but they take so long to recruit (which I never like) and they're a limited amount, and they're not as versatile. Nothing beats them in a "fire and forget" head charge/battle, though. The rest are units that depend more on what lord you play or what you like / meme / spec. For a campaign with Tiktaq'to a single unit of chameleon skinks (blessed or not) is your most important unit 😂 Edit: Just put in 1 or 2 solar engines 😆 The point with a doomstack like that is to destroy as much as possible of the enemy before they get in close either way is it not. Can't argue that the solar engine isn't better at dealing with infantry (at range at least), no way. Also they couple well with a fire slann or even a couple of salamanders early/mid game. Fire slann > Life slann easily, mid-late game, just put in a revivification bastiladon or just have good casualty replenishment rate, even the largest armies will flee before even a minute of close combat. Also, they're better to have VS ranged armies by far, better to put in at least 2 of them in a full Stegadon stack rather than none at all. Oh yeah and fire is great VS regenerating units or treefolk. And Burning Head is great once close combat starts, gives -8 leadership too. Ancient Salamander can stack the bonus damage (weakness) to -47%.
I love bloated corpses for the start of my vampire coast campaigns, I usually stack 2-3 deck hands together to bait the enemy army into blobbing up and then send in my corpses to blow them to smithereens. I've had corpses do 250-300 kills before, their aoe is HUGE. They fall off badly after the beginning though when the ai has had time to build more range based armies but by then my rampage across the coasts has already been enough to pay for my death stacks of giant boom booms.
"The thing is with the Empire is that your primary enemy is going to be Greenskins, Norsca and Chaos." *laughs in getting steamrolled in Reikland by the Dark Elves while my main army is fighting the Chaos armies in Kislev*

Sometimes I feel like I wanna play Warriors of Chaos because they have very fun to play armies and can destroy easily in early-mid game. But then I remember the horrible campaign and the struggle of trying to kill your enemies before they can reclaim all the settlements you razed before being chased down by 5 Empire stacks and I just think... Maybe I won't play Chaos.
shades make sieges so fucking easy... i like to use both greatsword and dual wield shades for diferent targets but the main strat is: put your lord, heroes and siege atacker on one side of the map and shades on the other. thanks to stalk the eney doesnt see them so they put all of their troops on the side with your lord. rush the undefended walls and start shooting the enemy and charging them. its beautifull

This actually really helps with realising how mediocre some of my tactics are. I do use Sisters of Avelorn but didn't realise they could get so powerful. No wonder I can't get past hard difficulty.
@Legend - I do think that Sepulchral stalkers will come much earlier and will help much more than when Necrosphinxes kick in. Not that I don't agree that Necro shouldn't be the first T5 unit, but Sepulchrals will be so much better.
By the time you get a t5 city you've typically already won. Tomb kings (except old man khatep) have a chill mid-game in a remote map region after they've survived the early game. Their victory conditions are basically free campaign win, compared to grinding out the ordertide. So in the meantime when it matters most stalkers are your main answer against pesky crusading knights.
It's actually 215 range max for Shades Legend :) That's Shadowdart + Gold Redline skill + Technology. You get 205 with Shadowdart + 1 of the skill of tech (15% each)
Funny thing: I just recently watched an old MP video of Legend, where he was going on about how SHIT Hellstorm rocket batteries are... Oh how times have changed XDD
Multiplayer and campaign are two different modes and will thus always have seperate tier lists. What is good in the other might be meh on the other. Also legend hasn't played any MP in ages so that probably happened before the Empire rework. Before it Hellstorm Rocket Batteries were, in fact, shit. The faction as a whole was a big meh actually.

Any 4 of these 5 will do, obviously you'll need different locations if you don't plan on conquering DE or Lizardmen, and you'll also need Teclis' and Alarielle's lands.) Since it is percentage based, it doesn't matter which dragon you go with. If anyone's curious, the army is not completely free, 700 upkeep for two life mages, frugal noble, and dragon willed lord. I might add that by the time I was able to get free dragons, I am making over 100,000 per turn anyways, so it's mostly for the memes. However, it is a fun late game goal for high elves if you get bored with them. I'm considering conquering the rest of the world with only dragons, only after I use all my influence to make people hate Reikland (#2 in my game) and have everyone declare war on the biggest guys until Brettonia, Reikland and Dwarves are gone. Maybe its about time for a new campaign...
@@samblanton9010 They're not actually free. Even if you have 100% upkeep reduction every additional lord will eventually make them cost upkeep starting at like 30 gold, 300 and so on. Only valid on low difficulties.
One thing I would add about the helstorm rocket launcher is that they're really good against cavalry as well ONCE THEY LEVEL UP to gold chevron levels. By then, their spread is a lot tighter and they do a competent job of leading any cavalry charging in a straight line.
I like how the greenskins invented homing missles before any other race even though they're the most underdeveloped and most warlike faction... Madlads...
25:00 True. In the process of having about 15 Sisters of Avelorn armies, after confederating and being the only High Elf faction left and having all the other legendary HF lords (after disbanding everything but SoA and dragons that were in their existing armies). I'm about to end this whole maps' career.
Giant monsters are really OP in this game. You can wipe out several infantry legions in 1 second, but you can't get rid of one single monster quickly unless you focus half of your stack's fire on it. There is no good way to deal with them. I think CA should really try to improve melee infantry's ability to deal with monsters, like reintroduce formation system (the shield wall, the pike wall, ect), at least to stop enemy monsters breaking your line so easily.
Rattling guns are broken. But more to the point to the video I play with a mod that actually offers you cap options. You can choose no caps army caps only faction wide caps and I think there's another setting I don't remember anyway you can customize if you want to limit how many of one kind of high tier unit can be in one stack or you can set it so that you can only have so many of the high tier units based on how many buildings of their recruitment chain you have And it also works for the AI So essentially it's an anti-spamming cheese mod
I generally find Sepulchral Stalkers out preform the Necrosphinx at everything; and since I last played tomb kings their last change was a huge buff apparently. On top of that in campaigh the Necrosphinx building gives 1 Necrosphinx where as the Cavalry building gives 2 Necropolis Knights, Necropolis Knights (Halberds), 2 Nehekhara Horsemen, 2 Skeleton Horsemen, 2 Skeleton Horsemen Archers and 2 Sepulchral Stalkers. You get 1 stalker at T2 and 2 stalkers at T3 so you could even put it in a minor settlement.

@@Xaphnir i would love to see his reaction to that 😂
Actually, having a giant in army is not that bad if you have no alternative, like Malagor starting with one, and it's tier 5 unit in tier 1 army.
It gives a great alternative to the Cygor and an equivalent to a Mammoth or Shaggoth.

@@christopherjones5700 this is literally the best description I've ever seen of the big boom bois , noice.

"The great thing about skeletons is that you don't have to pay them"
Try explaining this to anybody who doesn't play Warhammer 😅
you mean people who do play warhammer? Skeletons, even in age of sigmar, are very expensive as they are best played in mass. you idealy want skeleton units in 30 or 40s, and its about 35 bucks for a box of 10 skellies. If your running a skeleton focused army, its gonna cost you. True to most horde armies where you can only get units in boxes of 10. If your gonna run something like goblins or skink-focused beastmen, it would cost less then a skelly focused legions/vampire counts.
@@gabbo7101 It's a wonder why GW has become a shadow.

"Not that High Elves have a problom with economy," Best understatement of the day. lol 🤣😂😃
6 ratling guns shooting looks sooo much cooler.
Well, Legend did say not to full spam with Skaven, but to mix it up.
@@Aredel And not to mention that any unit the Ratlings touch will have its leadership dropping faster then a bullet ridden dragon.

So a person could just create a Steam Account with a VPN and pretend they live in India to then gift games cheaply to themselves?
So in short, don'r risk it. Use Isthereanydeal instead.
If I remember Instant Gaming buys keys in bulk from devs and shops, obviously with discount, slap a bit of a margin on top and sell them. (and yes buying keys elsewhere and activating them in Steam is legitimate and supported thing)
Didnt hear any shenanigans about cheap russian keys being sold into different region - thats more of a G2A thing.
@@simonsalgueiro6217 I didn't mean to imply that it's really common, I honestly don't know how common it is. I think some gray market resellers are more reliable than others, and I don't know enough about IG to say either way. I just think people should know that the risk exists, and that if it happens you're out of luck.

24:00: "The AI is not necessarily going to recruit armies to take out your doomstacks"
Tell that to the Empire in my Kholek campaign.
Yeah just read now its just marauders that take attrition from horde infighting.

Yeess, the guides are back, thanks a lot for the great content!!
Other units I always include in my main armies:
- Bastiladon (Revivification Crystal) x 1 or x 2 (it can't heal itself) for those "never-return-to-recruit" armies.
For a campaign with Tiktaq'to a single unit of chameleon skinks (blessed or not) is your most important unit 😂
Edit: Just put in 1 or 2 solar engines 😆 The point with a doomstack like that is to destroy as much as possible of the enemy before they get in close either way is it not.
Ancient Salamander can stack the bonus damage (weakness) to -47%.
very useful, thanks!

As a follower of the cheese, I already know these things. But I enjoy the nice cinematics you have created for us.
Carrion, Fell Bats, dire wolves.... Man that's crazy coming from you Legend!
Dire Wolves are surprisingly good at running down routed single-entity units.
Rattling guns are broken.
But more to the point to the video I play with a mod that actually offers you cap options. You can choose no caps army caps only faction wide caps and I think there's another setting I don't remember
anyway you can customize if you want to limit how many of one kind of high tier unit can be in one stack or you can set it so that you can only have so many of the high tier units based on how many buildings of their recruitment chain you have
And it also works for the AI
So essentially it's an anti-spamming cheese mod
