There was a Saving Your Disaster campaign about Clan Angrund a few years back. It was the video that got me into Total Warhammer at all and also introduced me to Legend so seeing a DC of the same scale is wonderfully nostalgic.
This is my campaign legend and it was amaizng to see how you completely salvaged the campaign by conceding cities I would lose anyway. You also showed me just how important it is to manage your warfronts and to keep your enemies on the defensive. 1 key thing I've learned from watching this is how you used my minor army crapstacks to just completely dismantle the northern lizard men. A mistake I realise I've been making is that I rely too heavily on my legendary lord as my only source of attack and I'm wasting these armies by keeping them on garrison duty.
Hello Legend, I'm not sure if you will see this because your videos receive so many comments these days. But I remember once during a livestream some time ago, you said you wish you had more ideas for different video series you could do. You said this in reference to the success of some of your video series such as: disaster battles, rating your doom stack, early campaign guides/reviews , and tier list videos. I thought of something you could do for a new series that I'm certain would garner a large audience. In Warhammer 3 there's more complicated mechanics than ever before, and a lot more planning and mathematical min maxxing can go into things now. I think you'd have great success making videos giving guides on how to get the most out of these mechanics. For example one you could do could be the Chaos Dwarfs and their economy mechanic. People often stress over how to balance raw materials, armaments, etc. You could explain how you like to do it, how you set up the Chaos Dwarf provinces for best effect, how you handle special buildings like marble and iron etc, Or explain how to get the most out of Clan Moulder, like which levels of the growth vat to wait for early game, what to spend mutagen on, how to build the armies, etc. Similar to your previous "early campaign guides" but instead of focusing on specifically who to attack and where to move early on, instead it focuses on how a more general guide of how to manage certain factions with special mechanics throughout the entire campaign in general. With every new DLC Lord getting such intense and varied mechanics I think this would be a great video series for you do that you could easily get over 100 videos out of, especially considering some factions have so many mechanics it might require multiple videos, with Chaos Dwarfs again being a perfect example but also Yuan Bo and others.
Almost 3 hours of a disaster campaign of Dark Elves holding back Lizardmen and Bretonnians. Not what I would call a good situation, but something I feel Legend could somewhat manage. The Great Horned Rat Legend himself really blessed us this day.
Crazy how easy it was to get out of those wars. Just sell a settlement, bam. Its one of those tricks people dont usually think about. Then the glitch about making them break treaties... I'll watch it through, but honestly this campaign was fixed in the first 10 minutes.
I guess its kind of like how Paradox land trades work after wars, but Total War isn't typically meant to work that way... it just happens to a lot of the time.
Yeah to be honest, settlement trading is probably a big reason why we don’t see nearly as many disaster campaigns anymore. Got in trouble, at war with all your neighbors and they all have multiple stacks pushing into your territory? No worries, just trade them some T1 settlements and you can have them all at peace with you, breaking their alliances with each other, and even at war with each other in no time.
Its very similar to disaster battles, which mostly seem to be caused by people not turning off large armies. More units = more chance of victory, right?
Don't know if you'll see this legend, but yes, you get multiple black arks per sacrifice right now. It's bugged. That's why the AI dark elf end turns take so long, cuz they are just shitting out black arks like no tomorrow. Edit: also, I actually very much enjoy these videos, despite the length, I watched the whole thing. Disaster battles are all well and cool, but they do tend to play out relatively similar after a while, and there's only so much you can learn from watching you overcome in-battle odds before it just comes down to having to get better at micro and awareness. I feel there's much more to learn from you in these disaster campaigns about how to do things to prevent ending up in a disaster battle in the first place. I wouldn't mind more of these, even if they are long.

idk if it's the optimal way to do it but i usually do well in my DE campaigns by building only economic buildings and hero recruit slot buildings in settlements, and doing all my army recruitment through black arks.
That is what you are supposed to do. This is why Dark Elves can't globally recruit and why they can't easily increase recruitment capacity in their provinces. It's because recruitment and replenishment is supposed to be handled via Black Ark unless you're deep inland where you can't rely on them. I just got into this game a few days ago, doing some Tyrion runs on very hard battle difficulty. definitely the best war game I’ve ever played by far, so goddamn fun
Yeah settlement trading is stupid broken. It’s probably the reason we don’t get nearly as many WH3 disaster campaigns as we did with WH2. You can just trade settlements and get yourself out of basically any bad situation.
I am amazed at what this guy can do. I really wonder what kind of engineer he would have been. Through the course of my career i have seen people who become masters of their field and start businesses that change the industry.
I always so happy to see that new Saving disaster campaign is dropped and it's 2+ hours. The only downside is that its 50\50 will the race be one you like or not. Unfortunately I dgaf about dark elves. Oh well. Maybe next time.
For eco, figure out how many turns a money building will take until it pays itself up, and remember that at tier 3 you want usually money, growth and garrison. You usually need only one of every type of troop buildings (for global recruitment) and some more for getting more heroes. You should build those money buildings to tier 1 at least, later stages take more time to pay up. Also, don't make long empires, you will get struck from the sides eventually, and try to smash the strong factions nearby you first.
I think I actually prefer these Saving Disaster Campaign videos to Disaster Battles. The strategic information learned is far more helpful in helping me avoid a Disaster Battle situation. And honestly, I just find the strategy side of these videos more engaging.
2:21:13 this moment not being top comment worthy can only be explained by it being so deep in the video people didn't pay attention, that was so good just the lord getting zapped like that by friendly fire
What I can’t stand about TW now is the auto replenishment. Something akin to Empire TW is acceptable. But since Rome 2, it completely negates fighting with garrison forces. Damaging their units is nothing now, they are full strength again when the end phase is over, maybe the heroes aren’t but the armies are. DEI addresses it pretty nicely, reducing the rate they replenish, making using the garrison armies in a for sure defeat not seem as pointless. Retraining was the best. Cycling units on the campaign map, risking them getting caught out on their own and wiped, for retraining and having the gained experience reflected in their retraining as well. It made for more thought in going on the offensive in enemy territory. How far to stretch yourself from your recruitment hubs. Now it’s global recruitment pool that just pop into the army while sitting in your border. Gone are the glory days of TW.
So we get a bonus Rakarth campaign hell yea! Now I just need Thrott Skrolk and Noctilus for my wishlist to be complete. *done with video* Insane video dude I would love to see more of these in the future!

Good cheese you can do on start of every Dark Elves campaign is recruit black arks from saved lord pool and best way to get saved black archs is start Lokhir campang and save that he start with bks that one has special trade and then autoresolve his first battle to reset seed and then repeat how many ties as you want, you can get like 5 black Arks on turn 1 bks Black Arc can recrut Black Ark loong as you have money for that

I hope this video is popular, as I've really enjoyed it.
I just got into this game a few days ago, doing some Tyrion runs on very hard battle difficulty. definitely the best war game I’ve ever played by far, so goddamn fun
The first 15 min is bonkers. I had no idea you could manipulate the AI like that
Yeah settlement trading is stupid broken.
That was a voluminous sack of golden tidbits and tricksy shenanigans!
And honestly, I just find the strategy side of these videos more engaging.
really like seeing disaster battle , thanks legend
2:21:13 this moment not being top comment worthy can only be explained by it being so deep in the video people didn't pay attention, that was so good just the lord getting zapped like that by friendly fire
Think this might be my favourite video I've watched so far ❤
yeeeey, disaster campaigns are back!
I went into the video knowing the recovery of this campaign was temporary, and was still sad when it ended. Just... one... more... TURN!
In 13min this man turned a doomed campaign into a bright future for the Dark Elves
good god
I like the long format, prolly tough to find disasters this long deliberately tho!
*done with video*
Insane video dude I would love to see more of these in the future!
Props for the guy not quitting and keep playing.
What a nice treat, you really are a legend and a saint for fixing this many fuck ups and somehow making it entertaining and a learning lesson.
Great video to pick up some emergency handling techniques.
I like my campaigns how I like my feature films
That has to be one of the worst end turns ever on an SYDC....
Legend on stream: “I wont be doing any saving a disaster campaign i simply dont have the time”
Also legend a few days later: *Posts 2h40min of disaster campaign*
Lotta great advice for new players in this video!
Me: Struggle to get out of starting area with op provinces.
Legend: Takes a clusterfuck of a campaign and conquers Lustria.
I love these videos. Disaster campaigns FTW
Good cheese you can do on start of every Dark Elves campaign is recruit black arks from saved lord pool and best way to get saved black archs is start Lokhir campang and save that he start with bks that one has special trade and then autoresolve his first battle to reset seed and then repeat how many ties as you want, you can get like 5 black Arks on turn 1 bks Black Arc can recrut Black Ark loong as you have money for that
I love your work Legend, but I think of your "War of The Beards" Series was the biggest disaster campaign as it started with Orion with a single army in Dark Elf territory. Mind u that was Total Warhammer 2.
commenting bc i love disaster campaigns + want them to do well
About it being the longest... im still watching 5h one
the 5 hour video came out after this one.
I looooove your disaster campaign fixes!
