    This is THE BEST video on Fluidmaster parts for a Kohler toilet I have found.
    Very much appreciate you doing this. I would have been lost without it.
    Thanks!

    Kohler has the best gasket and design. Not only does the 3 bolt design keep the tank stable but it’s solid against leaks for many years when installed correctly.

    This video is exactly what I want. I have the same kind of toilet. My next challenge is to find the 3 bolts water gasket. Thank you for sharing your experience.

      Glad it helped! I have the links to the Kohler 3-bolt gasket in my video description, but here it is as well: amzn.to/42iWOEA

    Easy to install, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxjA-hDN2m8_mi0Dg0JD8U6QiArozIAc4I and comfortable. No idea what other people were talking about when they said it was difficult to install or uncomfortable.

    That is very impressive! All original parts in a toilet that old is something you don't see everyday. Replacing just one part would be the logical thing to do in some cases when the others are in good condition though. The flapper and tank bolts are the only things I would have replaced but considering they're 30 years old, it might give someone the peace of mind to have all new parts. Regular gaskets work with these Kohler toilets by the way.

      I'll tell you something interesting about this video, I have multiple toilets in the house with the same setup, so even I go back and re-watch this video to show myself how I did it! Appreciate the kind comments, and thanks for watching!

    I went to three other videos before I found this one. Great step by step instructions. You may not be a plumber but you are one online.

    This was an excellent video tutorial for how to replace the Fluidmaster parts on our 30 year old Kohler Toilet. His explanation of important steps were ABOVE what the printed instructions said! Would have had to call the plumber without this video. Thanks much.... you saved me $$$.

    Great video. My husband and I changed fill and flush valves in 2 toilets using this video. We used Kohler parts but was able to follow along with this video with no problem.

    We just moved into a new house and I have to do this with 2 of the toilets. I have zero experience with plumbing (I work in IT) so I've watched about 5 or 6 different channels on how to do this. Man, this is THE best one I have watched. You talk about steps other guys have just simply omitted. So glad I clicked on yours. You got a new sub from me!

      That great feedback, and super glad it helped! Even I've gone back and watched my own video on this later doing another toilet as I'd forgotten 😁 From one IT guy to another, thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the video. The most difficult part was getting the old rubber gasket out from the bolt holes. Ultimately, I had success unscrewing the bolts. Once the bolts are out you can pull the rubber out of the hole with Robogrips or such. But getting the bolts out was not an easy task.

      I just flip the tank upside down and press on the bottoms of the bolts or gently hit them with a piece of wood. Then I press them through the rest of the way with a screwdriver. I have never had issues doing it that way.

      Kohler LOVES their insanely overpriced "genuine" garbage parts and sometimes I just get rid of the entire toilet.

    Excellent video. . .very explanatory and easy to follow. We changed the guts of our toilet because we cannot get it to flush. Can you tell us what the issue could be that it wont release the water from the toilet bowl?

    Just FYI, if you reach out to Kohler on their website with your toilet model number and issue they will send parts for free! No need to purchase and you get the actual brand model parts :)

    23:36 According to instruction it says rubber washers not used on Kohler toilets.
    Actually Step 5-A install rubber washers. Then B shows rubber washer (omit for kohler toilets)
    Not sure what to do. Guess I’ll try without

    That's called a line wrench. Not needed since you don't need much torque.

    Put toilet bowl together with fluid master kit water constantly goes thru flapper I have to push it in to keep toilet bowl from trickling anyone have any ideas 💡 that may help

    • @TheEclecticHandyman
      @TheEclecticHandyman  Рік тому +2

      3 possible reason I can think of:
      1. The chain connected to the flapper from the handle is too tight and has slight tension which is slightly pulling up on the flapper and causing water to seep through. The chain should have a bit of slack.
      2. The flapper isn't installed correctly and isn't sealing flush.
      3. The flapper or the Fluid master part is defective.
      Most likely #1.

      @JD-vk1bi Рік тому

      Also, maybe wrong size flapper, 3" vs 2".

    This is not the Normal Laboratory. It's hard enough with Universal Parts. Why make more of a hassle to flush?
