Did I just waste my time by buying a new actuator for my cranky 50 year old toilet? I should have done this huh?
@@AltimaNEO only if you should have or shouldn't have
Nicely done.
@@nothankyou5524 well so far the actuators been working really good. I was having so much trouble with the half baked flapper solution the previous owner put together, years ago.
This video 100 times better than the official Korky video. Thank you so much!!!!!!!
You should do more videos. You have a real talent for clear and concise explanations. Thank you.
Agreed. I left the video running just for the confidence of his direction.
This video made the project go smoothly. Well done.
You made it so easy and clear. Step by step. I'm a young lady and needed help. Thank you so very much.
Hey, I'm glad that it helped out!
This is the second one for the basement bat. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOuLt8IL_GxhhaK8DBuKEL-zV0UJVpWZn , works great
Very helpful! Thank you so much! I agree with Scott: "You have a real talent for clear and concise explanations."
Thank You! I am 72 years old and changed out my toilet tank fill valve! Feeling positively strong. 😉 thank you.
Great job! Keep it up!
Bro! This was so...not fancy or distracting.
= to the damn point for its purpose.
= PERFECT. DETAILED. PLAIN SIGHT.
THANK YOU!
Hey thanks for the comment! My channel is all over the place, but I try to get to the point as much as possible..
@@WesleyAllenNC Thank you! Very refreshing, and informative. Where are you based out of?
@@TonyStark-sj3kl Thanks. I’m in Western NC, Near Tennessee
WOW GREAT instructional video. 100 times better than the official Korky instructional video. You covered everything:) Thanks man.
The tip at seven minutes is so helpful, I encourage others to get those extra washers and install as video shows.
Agreed. I’m not sure why the kit doesn’t come with extra rubber washers
@@WesleyAllenNC The other thing that this video shows that didn't come with my kit was two (or three) nuts to secure the cistern to the toilet pan. Your video did show these nuts (although in your case they were simple nuts; I would find wingnuts much easier to tighten). I called Korky's support line and they said that there weren't supposed to be more than three nuts in each pack; they didn't suggest that you needed a nut to tighten the bolt through the cistern, as well as a nut to go underneath the toilet pan. This, along with the lack of a couple of extra washers, just smacks of cheese-paring economy, and doesn't leave me with a good feeling.

Maan, you cannot imagine how awesome you are! Thanks a million to you! I was struggling with a problem.
I had the leakage at the bottom of the tank at one of the bolts.
Thanks for the simple and at the same time genius solution - to reinforce bottom bolts with additional washers and nuts. Boom, the problem was solved.
Before your video I watched a lot of other UA-camrs and none of them proposed this solution.
God bless you buddy!
Glad I could help! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
Excellent presentation with helpful additions - thanks for putting this out there. One thing I found useful as I installed this same kit without any assistance was to have a level handy for the tank install. The supplied Korky tank gasket in my kit was not fitted to the impression of the locknut as yours was and when I installed the tank (suggest having the mounting bolts in before placing the tank) the tank sat quite high above the toilet base and by using the level, I was able to mount it front to back/side to side without guesswork. Your tip about having the flange side up ("this side up" ) on the flange nut as well as the notation on the instructions helped when I hand tightened the water supply and could not figure out why it was still leaking. Your efforts are appreciated and your method of delivering information is easy to understand. A real-world answer to the vids produced by the makers.
Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad that the video helped you out in some way. Oddly enough this has been one of my more successful videos, I guess everybody has a toilet! I plan to put out similar videos as I make repairs and upgrades around the house..
Probably one of the easiest videos to follow for fixing things. Well Done !
Thanks! I’m glad it helped
This tutorial was 🔥. Man you saved me a lot of time and frustration with your step by step approach. Thank you again
Hey thanks, I’m glad that it helped out!
Your video was clear and easy to follow. You took the time to explain each step and did close ups to show what you were talking about. I thank you and appreciate your video. I feel like I will have no issues putting this toilet replacement kit on.
Thanks for the comment! I wish you luck with your install!
Thank you Sir for putting out a very well edited video! The step by step in detail was spot on !! This only took me 1 hour to do ..Thank you and God speed 🙏🙏
Hey thanks! I'm glad to have been able to help out in some way
Using butterfly drill bit is an excellent tip that saved my day. Thank you so much man!
Hey, thanks. And your welcome.. Sometimes you just gotta improvise!
I don’t know the other people what they commenting about this video, but from my side I’m very glad to see this video and I hope this video will help me in future, and I need to thanks to you sir.
Hey thanks! I’m glad that you found it useful!
There are lots of videos on UA-cam about fixing and repairing all sorts of things. But this video was one of the clearest and best I've ever seen, and I''ve just almost finished replacing my Korky. I said "almost", because in a false economy move, they have not included a second set of nuts to secure the ciatern to the pan, and also left out a couple of rubber washers which woud make the job much more waterproof, so I'm going to have to go out to my local hardware store to source some small bits. Grrr...But thanks for a great video.
Fantastically clear and concise . Loved you showing us exactly what extra items to get at the home supply store
Thanks! I’m glad it helped!
Thank you! Very helpful! The suggestion to add the gasket and washers underneath the tank was great!
Hey, man. Got this same kit and planning to fix and upgrade my apartment room's toilet.
Damn thing just keeps running if you don't jiggle the handle and whatnot.
I was somewhat hesitant about how to install it and whatever. So I was very thankful to found this vid. It's going to save me and my big brother a lot of headaches and frustration.😅
Did it work? Sorry for the delay!
Thank you for your video’s it help
me to fixed my washroom fittings
You are awesome teacher,
Fantastic. Looks like you have a natural Flair to communicate. First of all this video wasn't about you, it was all about the installation. You didn't have your dog or cat in there with you which is refreshing. You just moved along quickly and did a great explanation. You didn't go too fast and you didn't go too slow. Just a great job thank you very much
Hey thanks for the comment! I’m glad to hear the video helped out
Great video! Very clear presentation. Good job!!
After the 1st install I had leak a and then we found your video, we took everything apart and added the double rubber washer, we had zero leak . Very help video, thank you.
same happened with me. There was leak and added extra washers in all 3 bolts.
This video is the very best video. If you dont use the extra seal washer nut under the bowl it will leak. That is why i ran across your video. I truly appreciate the time you spend on explaining the steps of install. I dont understand the 26 dislikes. Smh
Thanks! I’m glad it helped you out
The drilling part , golden idea , came in handy when removing the old flusher. Thank you
Yes! And It’s such a large fitting, most of us don’t have specialty tools on hand so drilling it off works like a charm..
I used an oil filter pliers from autozone cost about $8 as I was going to reuse
Thank you very much. I followed step-by-step and got it installed. Great video for doing it right. The extra parts you recomended were also installed.😀
Dude, you can teach anything!!!!!
Hey thanks! Hopefully the video helped out
Just installed two with the same handle upgrade thanks to Wesley!!! Great vid...thank you!!! 👍
EXCELLENT review, perfect pitch voice and I love all the demonstration you provided. I'm not a plumber, but I like to think I'm a do it your selfer, thank you so much...Kudo's 2 U !!
Thanks so much! I hope this video helped out in some way. I’m sure you can pull off this project!
Thank you so much for this video. I am not a handyman, DIY kind of guy. I watched the recommended Korky video, then yours came up right behind it. I watched, I saw, I was successful. Thank you!!
Thank you for making this video. It is very well done and helpful. You saved me a lot of time replacing two of the three parts.
AWESOME EXCELLENT video on explaining this kit, GREAT JOB!!! Thanks so much for sharing.
Your welcome. Thanks for dropping by and leaving a positive comment!
Thanks for the video! I'll be installing this same system in the near future
Thank you sooo much, will be my first time. Very clear instructions!!
Your welcome. Hopefully everything works out good for you!
Great instructor!!
Glad you think so!
Wes - fantastic instructional video with useful tidbits of information to avoid mistakes as well as to do the job right! Long story short - I just finished doing all of this tonite (I am 62 and every stop of the way was drudgery). I had a wet floor (even with towels lol) I have a fan in there overnight and a bucket under the valve / water line. I think I have a drip over that side - so hope to find that in the a.m. I had seen another video where someone suggested adding extra red washers/nuts on outside of tank prior to mounting to bowl. I wish I had done that. Whether I find any leak at all - I am going to go ahead and buy the extra bolts tomorrow and remove the tank --- again -== an add the red washers/nuts. I would rather have a sure thing than 'hope' there is never a leak at those two bolts. I think - if there is a leak - it is from probably putting that little black plastic nut on the bottom of the fill valve thingy - the nut that says THIS SIDE UP. Will find out tomorrow - too worn out to fight that tonight. I am happy with the kit - the included parts, the quality of the plastic - (hate plastic but the way of the world), the instructions are pretty good - but your instructions made it all so much clearer.
I wish I would have watched this one beforehand and took your advice to get the extra tank bolt kit for the extra washer. Couldn’t get mine to stop leaking. Great job man with this video. Well done!! Going to get the extra washer now…
Thanks, I’m glad it helped! Yeah the extra washer is a lifesaver. You might even be able to sort through the hardware isle / drawers and find rubber washers that will work instead of buying the set of tank bolts
@@WesleyAllenNC That is exactly what I ended up doing, purchasing 2 individual washers. They did the trick, now no more leaking! And I went ahead and purchased the handle as you did in your video. Thanks for replying brother, have a blessed weekend!
Thanks mate. You're a champ. I just changed out my system using your video. Much appreciated. Blessings.
Your welcome.. I’m glad it helped out!
How I wish they had used wing nuts on the underside of the bolts. Grrr
Great video. Thanks!
Thank you!
Excellent explanation and demo of fixing and installation. Thanks!
Thanks. I hope it helped!
Great walkthrough! This was very helpful. Thank you
Your welcome! Thanks for the comment
My neighbor taught me how to do this many years ago. He is head of maintenance at the place where he works. Anyway the other thing he showed me to do is put a flat washer on the bolt before the rubber washer inside the tank. Now I know these things are in water all the time, so it just means to change them a little more often. Some of the rubber washer sets are convex on both sides, so the extra flat washer made the seal better way better.
My Korky only came with the set of 3 tank to bowl hardware and my toilet has 3 holes. So I had to go buy another set of 3 just to have enough pieces.
Thank you very much! Very helpful for new hands.
Your welcome!
You saved me. I installed without extra washers below bowl and water went everywhere. Got extra rubber and metal washers and nuts from Mansfield kit and all good. Thanks.
I’m glad that it helped! They should just include the additional washers in the kit..
Thanks for the video
Your welcome, thanks for stopping by!
Thank you Man....great video save me a lot of time.
Hey thanks for the message. Your welcome!
Great video.Just bought one too install later.
Thank you for your illustrations!!!!!
Your welcome!
Best video
Thank you so much for your video , it helped me tremendously.
Hey your welcome. I’m glad it helped out!
Thanks!. I watched a couple of these and by far yours was the best video especially with the great camera angle. Going to redo mine tommorow and add the additional rubber gasket because of all the things the new corky system leaks at the bolt. Also love that you mention size of wrench you needed
Hey thanks! I really appreciate that. I still can’t believe they haven’t just added additional washers to the kit to solve this..
Great video. I wish I watched this before I ran to Lowe's to buy a 16 inch wrench in my struggle to get the mounting nut for the tank off. I could have spent $5 to $10 on the drill bit instead of $30 on the wrench and save 30 minutes of frustration! I'll check you channel first before undertaking similar projects.
Thanks for the comment! At least your were able to do it yourself.. and maybe you can return the wrench??
I used an adjustable oil filter wrench, which I already had.😂
A great video.... waaaaaaaaay better than the factory install video. This is money saved! I wonder what a plumber would charge to do all that?
excellent video with lots of helpful tips.
Hey thanks for dropping a comment. I'm glad the video helped you out.
WOW a great video thank you SIR hats off keep it up!!!!
Hey thanks!
Best installation video! This is what I'll be doing today.
Super helpful!
Thank you for your time and posting. I watched this a couple of times. Then at 5:58, you put in the centerpiece, the hole for my center piece is much larger and the Korky piece fall through, so back to the store.
This was very good and extremely helpful thank you
thanks
nice dude.
I’m almost there. My older home doesn’t have a shut off valve on the supply line. I need to change that ASAP. Great video.
There are a lot of instructions about fill lines - and adjustments on that flapper - I still have to read all that a few more times and follow the instructions - but first - the leak and adding the red washers/nuts to outside of the tank on the tank to bowl bolts. Thank you again, Cheryl in SC
@@WesleyAllenNC ha ha. At my age w all this work, only OEM washers will do!!! A job worth doing....
You make so easy thank you❤️❤️❤️
Happy to help!
Simply the Best you should you should charge a lot of money for this
lol thanks. I’m glad the video helped out!
yea...excellent...thank you..i liked and subscribed...
That’s awesome!
Great video just wish i would have found it earlier lol. I have to redo it and use your neat tips and tricks, thanks man.
Great video, thank you
Your welcome!
Helpful thanks.
excellent job!!
Hey thanks!
Awesome bro! You are a legend for this video!!!
Thanks so much my man. You just helped me so immensely. You were very clear and precise yet simple with your explanations. I was a bit weary of taking on this job but you showed me exactly what I needed to do and I am fully confident I can accomplish it. You rock. Also I must say thanks for the tip on adding the extra washer underneath the tank bolt. Extra security is always a plus.
You got a ÷1 subscribe from me.
Keep it going and stay safe out there.
🙏💛🐶✌
Hey, thanks for the comment! I’m glad it helped and hopefully you’ll be able to pull it off! It’s not the hardest job but all toilets are different and have their own little issues it seems. I put this in 2 bathrooms actually, (and both times they worked!) Thanks for subscribing, my channels all over the place but I try to post a lot of DIY projects and things around the house as things arise..
Very helpful.
Thanks!
Thank you for the very helpful video!
very helpful thank you
Your welcome!
You did not mention setting the height of the fill valve and positioning of the fill and flush valve. I think that is very important as well.
Agreed. You should mark your pre-existing water level and then adjust the fill-valve to fill your tank to the same level. (At least as a starting reference point.)
Thank you for your help. This video was awesome and very helpful.
Thank you, great job
A great video!!!
Thanks! I’m glad that it helped
It's not rocket science, it's toilet science.
Lol, agreed!
Wes, you saved my day! Out of all of the instructional videos I viewed, yours was definitely the best and most concise. My only problem is, I need to hold the handle down to get it to flush. If I hold and release it doesn’t work. Help!?
You may need to adjust the fill valve height so allowing more water in the tank at each flush. Sounds like your flapper is closing back to soon
Thank you my brother this video save my ass
you made that look easy
@@WesleyAllenNCI live in England the thing i noticed that makes our toilets different is we don.t use flappers but a cistern .. and the waste pipe is fitted behinds the toilet instead of bottom of the toilet like yours does... its so much easier to replace a toilet the English way
I very much Appriciate this vedio. I had exactly the same old fixture. Mahalo
Hey super helpful video I literally just did this tonight in my toilet and I was wondering that there was some water kind of dribbling out of some of the components as you state that that’s normal and I was like oh cool that addressed my question is exactly why I watched your video in the first place so thank you
Thanks for the comment. Hopefully everything is still working good for you. I know the instructions mentioned some bubbling was normal. But it shouldn’t keep doing it. Once it’s full everything should be still and quiet
great job. i will subscribe!!
Hey thanks! Feel free to suggest any future topics. I do a fair amount of projects around the house
Thanks!
Hey thanks!! I'm glad the video helped out. Much appreciated
Thank you for the video! I think I'm going to do the exact same thing today. Love the oil rubbed bronze look trying to get most of the fixtures we have to be the same color. #Salute
Hey thanks for the comment. I hope the install went smoothly!
@@WesleyAllenNC It did. Korky complete kit fully installed. Home Depot didn’t have the Korky oil rubbed bronze handle so I got a universal one, but looks great and working well. Great flushing power.
Excellent video! Unfortunately for me, my tank is so old that I am having issues getting the bolts off. 😩
We're you able to get it sorted out?
Great video. I think you would get an "A" grade for how you demonstrated and worked on the video.
Wouldn't it be easier not to take off the toilet and do the job?
Hey thanks! You pretty much have to remove the tank. The kit comes with a new rubber gasket of sorts to replace the older one currently installed on the toilet. You have to remove the tank to access it.
Good video. Im having problems with water not stopping as it fills in back, also leakage in the right side of tank. I seen you have a rubber grommet on the inside of tank and on the outsides
Yeah I wound up buying an extra set of tank bolts from the hardware store just to get the extra set of rubber washer. I think it helps even though the kit doesn’t come with them.. water not stopping, make sure your flapper is fully seated and not leaking water into the bowl, this could be due to a short, or too short of a chain. Otherwise it will be a fill valve adjustment, the korky kit is fully adjustable
The extra rubber washers helped. Its not leaking at the tank bolts now! Yea !!! Im a plumber now!
Thank for the video!
You should pay attention to the supply line anyway. The toilet i replace the internals on today had a rigid supply line that wasn't long enough to reach the Korky system i installed.
Can the fill valve be adjusted once you replaced everything?
