I slow simmer my grits for 45 min to an hour. They are so good and soft, buttery and I add a touch of cream before I serve them.

Even the 5min grits, you cook for 30 mins? Cause they do have 5min grit which is called quick grits and then you have the regular grits that do takes a lot longer, like 30mins!!

And cook using propane...I do have a wood cook stove if thing keep going belly up like they look now. And always a wood stove. Oh, husband did find a tiny mixer for me...so upset-it has one speed=all over the walls. 😂 (not really-just fast-too fast, but better than by hand.) done this all since ‘78 🥴

My 2 experiences with grits was once thinking it was gravy on a buffet and the other time I learned to make cheesy grits. Thinking they were gravy wasn't a good experience but them cheesey grits were the bomb! I have to confess I am not from the south but southern cooking has always gotten my attention! Absolutely love it and still learning.
I do remember my mother making fried mush as a child. Need to find a good recipe and technique for them. Thank you so very much for your delightful videos. I learn so much and the shared history of events of you childhood is appreciated. I do have a degree in culinary and you are spot on about cleaning as you go and your techniques are what make you an amazing cook! God bless you and you family.

Tammy, I enjoy watching you so much. Don’t know how you have the energy to flit around your kitchen like you do. At 76 years old my flitting days are about gone. I’m wIth you regarding the electric stove as opposed to the gas one, except for the oven. I have electric oven and gas top. I had always been told that gas ovens did not cook correctly. Also I believe you were using your newest pot for the grits and you were saying the grits were sticking. It may be because you were using the high heat. The thicker better quality pots require a lower heat or food will stick plus not good for your pots. I had never heard of milk and sugar in your grits until seeing you do it. Now I’m hooked. Delicious! Keep on cooking!

You are CORRECT! electric ovens are a dry heat as gas is a WET heat....Baking is best done in a dry heat oven (electric) as how i was taught in baking school. Gas stovetop is better and faster than electric though and easier to control so you have the best of 2 worlds...gas cooktop with an electric oven. I just chose a new GE Profile gas cooktop as suggested by Tammy instead of replacing it with another electric cooktop. Thanks Tammy (Electric double wall ovens here)

Ok, I just watched your chicken wing in the air fryer video right before this. I was craving chicken 10 mins ago and now I want sausage and grits and a dang cinnamon roll. I also learned of 2 gadgets that I now want. An air fryer and that butter spreader. Your channel is awesome but I'm worried I'll be fat and broke if I'm not careful. 🤣😜
We have a brand of sausage here in NC called Bass Farm. I was raised on it and man is it good! Sadly, it's only available in a small region here. We always take our sausage with us when we go on vacation. On the rare occasion that we run out and can't find it we eat Swaggerty's. It is our 2nd favorite.
I'm excited to try your cinnamon rolls they look so good.
As far as you cooking fast I must say that way back when I first found you the first thing I thought was that you have serious skills at putting a whole meal on the table in lightening fast efficiency! Its obvious you've cooked a ton of meals! As impressive as your recipes are I believe they come in second behind your organization and speed. I'm in awe how you always pull it all together and clean as you go. I try to do the same but it always seems to come off at the same time and I end up having to stack the dishes up then it seems to take forever to get it all cleaned up. You have some serious skills and I appreciate y'all sharing them with us. I'm always learning from you! 😘

I had no idea this grit concoction had a name until today. LOL I have been eating this for many years (I'm 65) and just called it breakfast in a bowl. I normally fixed this the morning after a big breakfast and threw it all into a bowl to use up leftovers and cut down on dirty dishes. The only thing I do differently is smother it with cream gravy. I am new to your channel. It is fun to watch your vlogs as it feels as if I am visiting you and it is just spontaneous as if I were sitting at an island watching you. I questioned some things you have done, but slowly figuring out things like, how could you make pancakes and biscuits and cinnamon rolls from just flour and shortening and buttermilk. I watched a vlog where you stated that you always use self rising flour. Ah-ha! Okkkkk. Now I know how you make something that needs to rise out of what I thought was plain flour, shortening and buttermilk. I am a 75 year old culinary student….LOL. I run a small Cafe’ for my church, and cater on a limited basis. But, one never stops learning new things….and I am going to try making your biscuit mix, and making some of the things you do with it….just ‘cause. And, I am glad that I listened to enough of your vlogs to discover that “four” is really “self-rising flour.” Now, I am going to expand my own use of self-rising flour. Thank you!

I love how u cook. I do the same thing. A little bit of this a little bit of that. When my daughters moved out and my middle one moved to NC she would call me all the time from NC and ask me how to make something. And it was so hard to tell her because nothing is really ever the same. So I would write down my recipes as I was making a meal so when she called I would have them. Then I found out about you tube so I would just set my phone up and record how I was making things and how much a little of this and a little of that was. Lol. I wish I would have saved all of those videos it would be neat to watch them now to see how much my recipes have changed since then.

One of my favorite memories of childhood was mom opening cans of biscuits, putting them all together, rolling out into balls, dropping them in melted butter then in cinnamon sugar mixture, then baking them in the oven. So good

There is a recipe for cinnamon rolls from the 1970’s that you use 2packages of yeast and you don’t have to let it rise you make them up put them in the pan and let them rise in the pan really easy and they taste good too

I like watching you cook, you remind me of me. I always feel like a chicken with it's head cut off. I think I will try these grits and biscuits for dinner tomorrow. I like to have breakfast for dinner a couple times a month since I don't make breakfast.

I love how you cook. I've always done that too - run a sink full of hot soapy water and clean as I go. :-) Tonight we're having meatloaf, baked potatoes and corn. Coconut custard pie for dessert.

I too have pieces of the blue cornflower Corning Ware that belonged to my mother. I'm missing the glass lids though. I remember her cooking with these when I was growing up. I've always wondered if I wrote to Corning if they could sell me replacement lids on such an old product?

We just replaced our dishwasher and the #1 priority option was that it had to be quiet because our living room is right next to the open kitchen. We bought a Kitchenaid because it’s one of the most quiet brands and we LOVE it! It has 3 sections and I didn’t realize how great the little top rack would be until I got it and started using it for my smaller utensils, lids, and stuff. We don’t even hear it while watching TV. I’ve never seen dishes get this clean and spot-free. Check out the Kitchenaid dishwashers before you buy one.

Your breakfast looks good. Just wanted you to know the best quiet dishwasher is a GE - I walked into a furniture store and asked the salesman to show me the quietest dishwasher he had. He never hesitated and never said anything but walked me over to the GE model. It is wonderful, you can't even hear it when running. It washed the dishes amazingly. I will never buy anything else again if I have to. Just thought I would help you out. Thanks for all the amazing videos you guys do. It is my favorite channel!

Mmmmmm Swaggerty’s sausage is the best. I live in Pigeon Forge and Swaggerty’s is so near me I can buy from their store. I’m in the process of moving into a new house too.
I can’t stand the dishwasher either. It’s a GE and it came with the house it is soooo noisy and it has the controls on top of the door. My Maytag in the old house is quiet. The washer and dryer they left is noisy too. My front loader LG set is quiet too. Plus they play a little tune when they are done

My husband likes his eggs just barely cooked. They say if they look cooked in the pan, they are overcooked. When his eggs are just on the verge of being cooked, I turn them out on the plate so the undercooked egg is in the center of the heap of scrambled eggs. He raves about them. If I ever browned them, he wouldn't eat them. I have 20 chickens that lay 20 eggs each and every day. I give them away to people who need them. In the last week, we gave away 15 dozen eggs. I love your videos. I've never cooked grits, but my husband likes them, he just never gets them from me!

I'm interested to try milk in grits. Never tried it like that before. You can use some of that sausage grease to flavor your eggs. Especially if you don't want added salt.
