My grandmother always made peach, as we are from South Georgia and we have many orchards of peaches. The peach capital is just 50 miles north west of where I'm from. But you can make many flavors as I've made pear, as I have huge pear tree in my yard. I've made black berry because we have wild black berries and it's the huge ones. I prefer any flavor over apple. But I do eat apple too.

My Mom made fried pies in electric skillet when I was in Junior High, at the time we lived in a small house my folks had just bought the property and there was no electric stove or modern utilities. But those were the best pies, at least to us five kids🥰
Tammy, you look so pretty today. I use that butter in all of my whipping cream pound cakes. If I am going to make a pound cake, I want the best. I used to use Land "O Lakes like mother did, but you can sure tell the difference in the cake. I love fried pies. I am going to have to make some. You probably already know this, but if you lay each pie on the spatula, you should be able to lower it into the hot oil without the risk of getting burned by a splash. 😊 These look sooo good!

Always wanted to learn how to make good old fashioned deserts, especially lemon meringue pie one my favorites, thanks to you Ms. Tammy I do, reminds me of my mom's old fashioned deserts hers were apple cobbler, thanks for sharing 😋.
Glad you explained that those were fresh apples, cause I couldn't under the two places I saw the words "dried apples", but the butter being cooked a little over, makes it nuttier, it tastes good, as long as you actually don't burn it. Having the butter like what you threw away and started over with, was just fine, even better.

I’m totally using monk fruit with a teaspoon of coconut sugar 😄. Ask your doctor about a beta blocker for your fast heat rate. It helps big time! Also so happy you’re feeling better Tammy!!!
The best way to not let your dough bust open or anything when using fresh fruit is to cook the fruit let it cool down then put in the refrigerator. It is also easier to portion out on your dough and reheats while frying. I myself always use a deep kettle with enough oil to fry with. This is like deep frying as well. Keeps the oil from getting burnt. This is just my method when you are frying lots of pies.

Those look so delicious Tammy!! I heard that the fruit filling should be at room temp not hot because it'll make the dough open up or split while frying. Thank you for the great tips!! 😊❤
I love fried apple pies. A friend of mine use to make them with apples from her tree & she put white raisins in her apple filling and they were delicious.
It was really refreshing to see you back in the kitchen. Your pies look so good!! Take care, my sister-in-law had the Covid back in April, her husband passed away 7 yrs ago, she wouldn't let her family get close to her, for several weeks. Her breathing was her problem. Her grandson is a Trauma nurse. He told her how to inhale and exhale. She said that really helped.
Tammy, you look fantastic! How much weight have you lost?! Both you and Chris look great! God bless you both and I pray for a complete recovery for you. ( I had COVID-19 last November and every little thing I did made me tired. So I know how you’re feeling, but you will get stronger every day.) I’ll have to try these fried pies. They look delicious! I used the White Lilly self-rising flour to make some fried cauliflower last night and they were delicious! They self-rising flour kept them nice and golden brown, without burning as I fried them. Thanks to you, this northern girl will never go without White Lilly in my kitchen! 😉
browned butter adds wonderful flavor. I wouldn’t have dumped that butter out. When you added the apple then the sugar to the pan with no butter the sugar became grainy, hitting that hot pan with no liquid. Browned butter poured over mashed potatoes.. takes the potatoes over the top. When making homemade fudge, if that sugar hits that hot skillet like your sugar did in the apples it will become grainy. Sugar is a sneaky thing. 🤩
I don’t think the butter is burned. I’ve seen lots if recipes where you put browned butter to make a sauce. Taste it, if it’s not really burned but just browned, then I bet it would be good on some veggies. Just my opinion. 🙂💜
I love fried pies! I remember as a little girl watching my grandmother make these. She would let me help by sealing the edges with the fork tynes. I've made these as an adult and always think of her!
Hey Tammy! You look great! So happy you're up to cooking today. I thought it would be a quickie video but you made it 40 minutes!! Lol. Great job! You da man!! We all love them fried pies. Gonna try it with your biscuit dough recipe! 👍❤
It is so good to see you up and about again Tammy doing what you love and I love watching you do it God bless you and keep you we love you take care of yourself be blessed and keep on cooking cooking we love it. And thank God for your Jewel of a husband
My grandmother made them a million times. I remember picking apples, strawberries, blackberries and climbing in trees to get cherries. Oh how I miss those days. Thx for sharing.
So good to see this recipe. I tested positive for COVID-19 on September 2. I’m out of quarantine but I’m not well yet. I have all symptoms of long COVID. Which is basically lots of pain and fatigue. I felt a little better and made your microwave banana pudding and I could taste it!!! TFS!
Hi there! These pie shapes are called empanadas in Spanish culture. I make them with seasoned ground beef with olive juice added, diced onions, about 10-20 diced olives (and I dislike olives severely), white rice and mozzarella cheese. I make 40 at a time because with just my hubby and I, they're gone in 2 days. And they're so good the next day! Pull them out of the fridge, break them in half and microwave for 20-30 seconds. FYI.....If when crimping them with a fork, you push the fork down then pull it out towards you, instead of pushing it down then pulling it up and off, they won't open. I love these things! You can put eggs, bacon & cheese in them, you can make them with pizza ingredients, they're amazing! And Goya does sell the shells already made in the freezer section. I can't wait to try these! I'm probably going to try them this weekend. Thank you for the recipe! Edit: corrected typo
God bless you with a quick and complete healing! You remind me of times in the kitchen with my favorite aunt, who’s long been in heaven. Thanks so much!
I really don't make pies or meat pies with veggies, but since I got interested in watching your video,I will try to be creative in the kitchen. Do you add cinnamon to your recipes?😊
The fried pies looks so good. I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed week. I use to make peach fried pies and sell them at a craft show they have once a year. But I fell and broke and had to have surgery on it 2 times and I can't do that now. They sold fast and I made some money.
Fried pies are my favorite dessert. Growing up in GA during the 1950's, my parents left me in daycare while the worked. The cook there was a Black woman named Annie and she was my best friend. She used to make huge platters of these pies for all us kids. All that work! I used to hang out as close to Annie as I could to get a taste of WHATEVER she made because it was ALL GOOD! Thanks for bringing back great memories!

New to this channel but love it!
Welcome!
Tammy u should listen to Chris he told us the other day as u kno he's a trained chef for heaven sakes lol 😆
I worry about when people try to force recovery because sometimes they get sick all over again and it takes longer to recover. 😔
browned butter adds wonderful flavor. 🤩
Tammy you look so beautiful today, glad you’re back, although Chris you did a fantastic job!!!❤️❤️
I totally agree
Great godly teamwork 🍃🌻🍃
Amen!!! 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
GOD BLESS YOU BOTH !!!
I don’t think the butter is burned. I’ve seen lots if recipes where you put browned butter to make a sauce. Taste it, if it’s not really burned but just browned, then I bet it would be good on some veggies. Just my opinion. 🙂💜
Browned butter is a delicacy in French cooking! ♥️
Good use for browned butter is on pasta with a good dry salty cheese. It’s amazing.
So glade to see you back in the kitchen Tammy. You taught Chris well Tammy, the was a fairly good substitute in your kitchen😂❤️
God bless you with a quick and complete healing! You remind me of times in the kitchen with my favorite aunt, who’s long been in heaven. Thanks so much!
Thanks for teaching me an easy way to make fruit pies😂I love the crust of the pie when it gets s light brown so delicious 💯 yummy 😋
They sold fast and I made some money.
i spent 7 years in Nashville in my younger days and learned how to become a southern cook. Im a southern girl at heart and am glad i found your site.

Tammy, I had never heard of fried pies before today... they look tough to make but I'm gonna give them a try with canned peaches.
