Abstract Particles
Cycles Eevee
Blender 2.80
For Eevee: You have to put the gradient into the info node and then you have to connect the gradient Fac to an object info node. That's it, you have your random particle colors in eevee! (For 2.9 users)
one of the reasons why i am subscribed. thanks.
thanks dude, been meaning to learn particles, will deffo watch again
Thank you. I have learned a lot from this single tutorial
I LOVE YOU. I've been looking for how to make them properly change color and go transparent for 3 days now. Thank you so much!
Can't wait to try this, thanks
This is the video that made me sub. Good stuff, thanks a lot!
Super cool tutorial just what I was looking for
I love your tutorials
Your channel just saved my life, literally
Excellent! Thanks :)
Really good tutorial, thanks
thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you, I appreciate this so much
Color changing particle fix (eevee) :
Switch particle info node to a geometry node, and connect true normal and parametric to the divide node xx
Thank you so much, I was about to ask
It didn't really have the effect for me
Zachary Aghaizu hmmm peculiar... eevee kinda sucks with particle systems
Position and normal in geometry node also give nice effect :)
Awesome!!!
Dude I was trying to do something like this, timing is perfect! thanks you!
The render was only one colour until I checked the Material Output shader and changed to 'Cycles' instead of 'all' - hope this helps someone
thaaaankkk you
Mito
Thankyou

@@snoop2296 yeah i khow thnx ♥
such an awesome video! way too much fun. thank you.
Thank you! :)
Absolutely love this. Can't believe a single image took only 4 seconds to render, im definitely going to be doing a bunch of animations with particle systems, thanks a lot. +1sub.
Wait, one image took you only 4 seconds to render? For me it took 3 minutes monkaS
@@harv3yquinn531 yes it did, I used quite little samples, just enough to make the depth of field look good and the particle count was 69000 but the amount of particles barely made a difference in render times. I think it took such a short time to render is because light doesn't bounce off of objects which have the emmision shader so the samples count can literally be 1 (I think) but of course that's not including depth of field which requires more, but it still didn't make a big difference. I also used Linux, which makes renders about 20%-40% shorter compared to windows.
Nice work, bro! You've got talent! I was needing someone to post a video like the the other day, you've somehow read my mind, or heard me cursing cause i couldn't figure this shit out myself! lol
Thanks man! I am glad I could help!
Very nice and informative video
This is a really good tutorial thank you
Very cool
Very good tutorial,
you also could add a map range node after the division node to control the range and color ramp better for shorter or longer lasting particles :)
Or combine the two, mapping the ranges makes the values easier to work with in a grad map.
*@Blender Made Easy*
I am not sure if the result is the same but you get with Eevee a pretty similar result when you add some nodes to the ColorRamp:
[Geometry | Position] > [Vector Math Add *| vector slot1] > [Mapping] > [ColorRamp] > [...]
[Particle Info] > [Math Divide] > [Vector Math Add *| vector slot2]
I hope it is understandable ;)
Thanks!, was really helpful!
Nice!! Would love to see more!
Hey everyone. I need help. I made exactly the same nodes but my particles at the end of lifecycle don't want to change to pink? Any idea why?
thanks!!!
Is there some fundamental complexity to enabling Particle Info in Eevee? It’s been so long and it still doesn’t work as of 2.83.1. Very unfortunate.
Is there a way to make particles follow shapes? Like maybe a landscape?
Any inputs on how to animate this? Would love to see it move in slow motion.
this is a great tutorial. can i ask though, when i export as ABC. for other renderers, there's SO many ' parts' is there a way to merge it as one mesh for other renderers?
Nice tutorial! What paramteres should i adjust if i want the particles to move slower? Right now its bursting out. Hope you can give some tips here, thanks! :)
Thank you! You can try turning up the flow amount in the turbulence force field!
I cant seem to get the glare node to work at all in the compositing step. Followed this to the T but none of the compositing seems to be working. Any ideas?
Ok soooooo I am new to Blender because I want to learn these kinds of things.. Anyway, I am doing the same thing as you are and when I press play after having 50k for the numbers it basically has hardly any particles....
You should first do some beginner tutorials before jumping into these intermediate ones.
Nice tutorial!! when i hit render tho, it renders a different time frame in the animation why is that? When u hit render it is like in the viewport.
Great tutorial but, it’s me don’t worry, my particles seem to be rendered quite poorly almost like squares. Is there any way that you know of to fix it?
From 8:10... It's a baby with it's arms up, and I can't unseen it :D
Hi, and thank you for the video. How do I get rid of the emitting sphere?
theres and option in the particle settings tab, goto the render tab, then click the checkmark saying show emmiter, it may still show it in the viewport previeiw, but in the render it should bbe gone
Hello! Could you please tell me Shift f3 doesn't work in Blender 2.83 , what do I do to open it?
To achieve kind of a similar effect in Eevee, try using the position node of the geometry input instead :)
I can't really get this working, can you elaborate on this a bit? I'm just looking for any way to fade out particles smoothly instead of having them just disappear.
ty!
try to change the input node to geometry, an then join position to the divide node
@@UP2KEV U're the best
Thanks :) While using the geometry node, I got some interesting results changing the divide math node to a fraction math node. (Seemingly random disbursement of color among the particles).
but if i want to make this particles going in a way i want like i am doin a ps4 animation which i need theese particles to make a cool boot up
how did you make it ?
I thought blender 2.8 does not support particle info node.
there is no option like shader in or particle info in the newest version..can you help with it
why im only rendered an ico sphere the particles not rendered, i mean is rendered but not fly away. Can someone help me?
Hey! Nice tutorial!
I am trying to use this but having the particles move ALOT slower. Do you know what settings i need to tweak in order to controll particle speed? I feel like i have tried everything.
change the time stretching: old to like whatever less than 100 to make the scene slower
How do you bring that into UE4? Export as what so you can have it rendered and walk around it?
Who needs expensive AE particle addons which are running basically in 2D, when u can do all this stuff for free in Blender in real 3D.
when the part where we have to change the colour to blue there we have to render when I press render the icosphere itself gets black
Cool
I've been doing udemy lessons for blender....and this tutorial feels like cheat day lol.
I need help, my Particle Info node does not provide any values! If I set the Math values manually, it works as intended, but when I connect Age and Lifetime, the value is ALWAYS 0...
Edit: This works in Cycles, but I really want it in Eevee :/
How create animation? Please, help. I get a static image in the render
For some reason when i go to the black grid thing for nodes the new button isn’t there
Hi Please Help me my render is still showing one color and new in blender dont kow how to change material outpur shader to cycles
Works in 2.82 grease pencil branch.
Which cache is it. Final, module or replay?
will i be able to export this as a video or gif
Can we make the particles follow wherever we are going???
how to render that composite image ?
I was not able to get the final render done properly. I don't know but for some reason the particles weren't leaving the sphere. I baked whole animation and did a final render and it worked.
I had roughly the same pb : rendering stopped after the first frame. Impossible to know why but after baking the particles system, I was able to render it correctly.
Eevee does not currently support the particle info node.
Oof... explains my struggle...
@Wo LongAs far as i know we are currently only left with the Option to use Cycles... Thats what i did at least.
Its Not so bad though.
doesn t work at 10/2019 hope it will work with 2.81
@@sansdomicileconnu change the imput node to geometry an then join position with the divide node
@@UP2KEV Just tested this, and you somewhat saved me from my struggle. I just have one problem with this method: The color change. When I tried this with my particle simulation, the particles didn't change color the way I wanted them to. I'm not sure how to explain it, but the colors are half-and-half on each side of the simulation. They don't change color as if it were a gradient. Any tips?
i enabled the cycles render .....but still i am able to see only one color during the render .....i also enabled cycles from the material output ....still the same problem.....please help me out.
thanks but not really none of this works for me as the settings you give do not give me a swirl as the flow of 4 dont do anything they are still coming out straight and the colors on the icosphere are still only white but yours is not the only one I tried all the others and they dont work too . but thanks for trying maybe someday it will happen
When i render the entire animation I end up with these gaps in the timeline that start over the particles being emitted and so I was wondering why it is doing that and how to fix it?
Same here sadly. Could you solve it?
what gpu were you using in this video?
Hello! Your tutorials are extremely helpful. I wanted to ask if there's a way to color the particles based on their position (either distance from origin, or say, distance from z-axis).
This would be beyond helpful in scientific simulations. It'd be even greater if there's a way to color these particles based on some calculated quantity (say, particle's momentum or energy) via the python console
In Cinema 4D it's no problem. ;-)
Hello thank you so much for your tuto !!! I just have one little question : in 7:10 when i use the ColorRamp ... I try everything QAQ but it didn't chang the color ??? The problem of the Particle Info ? Anyone can help .......
Are you using Eevee? The Particle info node does not work in Eevee. Make sure you are using Cycles instead.
i got lost when you moved the particle to a new layer, it just kept it as the same for me and when i went to shift f3 for my modules i couldnt select the particle so im stuck on trying to color the particles, still nice tut
Lost me there too...
@@devinthedirector7711 coool, i re watched it and just thought hmmm, my error
um for some reason the particles dont flow when u render as an animation. Help?
When I try I have changed to cycles as it’s the only way to get colour but everything turns pink ?!? How do I stop this?
@Blender Made Easy
How do you manage to select the particle ico and emitter ico separately? I follow the tutorial as close as possible but no matter what the particles and emitter are always selected together when I click. Meaning I can't click on the emitter without selecting every particle too.
The particles are attached to the emitter so whenever you select the emitter icosphere it will also select the particles. You can hide the particles by going over to the modifier tab and clicking on that screen button. If you are trying to change the material of the particles you need to select the particle ico sphere that we created at 1:20. Does that answer your question?
@@BlenderMadeEasy Yes it does thank you! Your tutorials are the bets I've foun so far as a newbie. Please make more abstract tutorials!
@@BlenderMadeEasy Last question! at 4:37, how do you have the icosphere highlighted without every particle turning orange too? They remain white while the emitter is selected. This is only an issue when I got to add colour in the second window later on, as the emitter turns completely black/blue whichever colour i have selected for the particles.
hallo im from syria i have problem at 6:45 i can not change color for colorRamp if i change it just one work .
anyone one help me
Can you share the .blend ?
Heck ,,cycles supoorting this colour changing
am getting soft from your video, thx alot. how do i make my soft more than 50sec long? I clicked loop recording, pressed the record
I'd love to make this, but reacting to certain tracks, and reacting to how the music changes

Dont see the emissive texture in particles only in emmiter....
Do you need to Render again after you do the compositing? I cant find any info
If you have already rendered on all the frames then yes. But if you are just doing 1 frame you don't have to. Make sure you have the viewer node enabled in the compositor then go to the UV Image Editor. Type in the search bar Viewer and you should see that pop up.
Hecj yrr it dont working now ,,,in 2.82 the colour not changing
I cant get the color ramp to work, it is only using the birth color. I have double and triple check the setup and it is exactly the same as yours. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Never mind I was in Eevee
im surprised you didnt use boids in physics instead, i think it does the same thing, correct me if im wrong
top
thanks, I'm having some issues with the colors. I only can see the first color. I cannot set the two colors. am I doing something wrong ? I already tried to change the Material Output shader for the cycles but is still not working
Same😩
are u in rendered view?
i dont have the shift F3 shortcut, would would i have to do instead?
On the top left corner there is a menu. Click on that and you should see an option for the Shader Editor.
Hi, I'm trying to get the sames result for the Color but it doesn't work for me : I put and connected particle info node, math node, color ramp, Emission and Material Output like you did but Instead of having a color ramp between pink and blue, I just get the blue or the pink... it's like the color ramp influences only the genral color and not different areas.. Do you have an idea of how i could solve this problem ??
( If you think it is a scale problem could you give me the size of your emitter and the size of the particle ?)
Thank you very much for this video, I hope you will answer soon (sorry if my english isn't perfect) :)
Use Cycles instead of Eevee
Thanks ! , I tried it today and it worked !
thnx for the tutorial!
I only got one question: when I duplicate the ico sphere, for some reason I can't find the button ' Add to Sphere' at 1:05; is there another way to get there?
When you add in an object you need to go to that panel right away. If you do anything else it will disappear. So add in the icosphere and before you click on anything you should see that panel.
I have nothing rendering I ticked and unticked the show emitter and nothing ever happened. The colors are working, I have it under render object, I feel my sanity leaving me
how do you make a movie of it ?
Particle info in Eevee is incomplete. I guess they haven't gotten to that node yet. We'll probably see it in a later version of Blender 2.80.
When I render with cycles it's showing up completely black unless i check off the show emitter box for the particle?
My workaround was setting the icosphere to a glass transparent mat
Mine was black as well until I set the Material Output from All to Cycles in the Shader Editor
I had problems rendering the color change. This is because the particle info node is not supported in EEVEE, you need to switch to cycles.
my still didn't take in two colors, it just stayed one :/
@@ThatGuyDownInThe Go to render properties in the menu bar to the right side, and change the option eevee to cycles
@@fabianmartinez4228 thank you :)
umm, so I'm kinda stuck on 6:48. have everything connected but the two colors are not showing in the particles. I don't know if anyone will see this but it would be great if i could get some help.
Double check that your math node is set to divide and also that you are in cycles. You could also check your handles on the color ramp node. If you have 1 handle all the way to one side you might only see 1 color. Try moving them around and see what happens. I hope this helps!
@@BlenderMadeEasy ok I will check all those things and see if they work
I bet you are in eevee render, you must use Cycles Render till they fix this.
@@jonesnjoroge oh I figured it out I applied the node to the center object instead of the particle itself. so it was changing just one group of particles.
Here's a link to a video that showed me how to switch between cycles and EVEE in case you didn't know like me
ua-cam.com/video/zqK4m8a52U8/v-deo.html
Does this work on later versions? I’m on 2.8.1 and it doesn’t seem to work for me, I’ll update it to 2.8.2 to see if has any effect.
Edit: didn’t work
Edit 2: You have to be on cycles
He`s jusing blender 2.82 alpha
is there a way to make the center sphere disappear?
Turn off show emitter in the particle system.
2nd color is not showing.
anybody got any tips for doing the color change in Eevee?
You can use the Object Info node instead of the Particle Info.
