Just finding your tutorials for the first time... almost 2 years into learning blender how is that possible - anyways really appreciate how you explain stuff!
The misc sections controls how much a specific particle can move on the different vectors while moving. Turn it down if you want your UFO to move but stay kind of flat/still. Turn everything up if you have fx a fish and you want it to bend and twist a lot as it moves. Does it make sense? Try using an arrow shaped object as the render object. It's hard to see using only spheres and cubes.
It’s fun to give boids collision obstacles, especially when they are following a lead object on a set path. I had not gotten to make them fight or flee. Great video as ever.
Amazing tutorial, thank you so much! Understanding the tool and what you can do with it fills me with inspiration for all kinds of nonsensical, but cool ideas! Cheers a bunch!
Need REACTOR PARTICLES back! that way a killed enemy could be replaced with a dead pose model or use death by collision to replace a walking boid with a climbing one when it hits a wall and back to walking when it hits another object or boid set up to kill and replace it at the top (would be invisible). also enemies could emit weapons fire too! or just regular change outs of animated instances so the won't seem so mechanical.
14:31 Do you think the boid with average speed would be a good setting to make a close up comet breaking the earths atmosphere? I’m new to animation and blender 😅
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Are boids the right tool to use if I wanted to simulate particles avoiding an object they surround? For example a lillypad in a pond that slightly displaces small debris that surrounds it if it moves.
Yes that is possible! If you create the animation with a rig and just select that object to be the particle it should work. This tutorial is a bit old but it's basically what you are wanting to do. ua-cam.com/video/SNKI9sUZiw0/v-deo.html
For some reason, Avoid Collision seems to have no effect on my Boids, although the lookahead function definitely is affecting performance. Is there something I'm missing to make them actually try to avoid stuff?
Sir, can you help me in one thing, can you plz tell me how you have updated blender to 2.93? I have the .91 version and Im sacred that if I update it, my previous blender project files will no longer work 😭 can you plz help me🙏 Btw tutorial is awesome as always :D
When you load the new version of Blender for the 1-st time, don`t forget to choose Load settings of the previous version or so. It will keep all addons, themes and other settings you had in the previous version
@@squishybluecat It took me like 8 years of pure ignorance untill I discovered it accidentally haha. No one mentioned it even in beginner tutorials despite it`s a crucial thing. Glad it helped!
LOL "blender just crashed"...same here 2 times per particle emitter. When I change end frame to 100, it crashed 2 times. Then at 3rd time with both particle emitters, I changed end frame in "other monitor" and didnt crash (magic hardware + software conflict error bug?)
This is the sort of content Blender needs more of: "here's how every option works."
Except for the grammar... "an-u-lar" lol 😜
Exactly
Exactly. He did it so well.
@Kristopher Driver I didn't even realize that lol it's hard to pronounce everything correctly when recording😅
@@BlenderMadeEasy ;p lol no biggie, just pissing about. it's good vid, thanks much
I litrally am so happy that I feel like crying
I wanted to learn it so bad since when I first used it in Ian Huberts Moths
Thanks a lot
This video worthes thousands of likes. thanks, saved my life.
This was the most unfamiliar particle physic type before you show up, but I know it will be my favorite.
Thank you.

Didn't know blender was also a game
the more you know🌟

Great tutorial, I was trying to do a particle simulation in reverse, this is even better.
Never thought of it that way, thats really creative
Amazing tutorial! I always wondered how boids worked.
Indeed this is the tutorial which the most of blender users might wanted to see.
You are simply awesome and perfect
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you so much, you help me a lot!

I am having way less problems with crashing these days in Blender. Still happens 🤣 would give you a hug if I could.
Thanks again, my Brother!!
Thank you. This was very clearly explained.
Super great breakdown! Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
This is amazing! Thanks!
Fascinating boids are a lot more complex than i thought. I’m gonna give them another go. thanks.
(HEIGHT) IS WHEN UR BOIDS LAND ON GROUND BUT HALF OF THAT SOLDIER IS BELOW THE GROUND...
great, nice... very nice job man. CONGRATS

the height setting is for the land boids and their distance above the ground collision object
Wow this is incredible
Awesome tutorial, thanks.
Thanks! I really enjoyed the clip!
Thank you! :) you've been putting out some great stuff recently! Keep it up!
Great walkthrough !
Best tutorial and explanations...❤️❤️
Awesome video, it's Boidtastic :D
im a fan of boids!!!!
Thanks man! This is exactly what I needed to figure out a piece of a puzzle I've been working on.
Amazing, Thank you so much
This was a great tutorial. You could make some pretty awesome battle scenes with this.
Lol the Ico speheres just took off... Like "i'm not winning so i aint fighting🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for making this, also loved the half-life reference
Amazing. You have done it again!
This is so cool.. like they have a brain of their ownn
Awesome well detailed tutorial. Thanks great job.

I wonder why I didn’t know your channel till now
Helpful video-Thanks
bird flight with goal starts at 10:00
really awesome
If you don't set the "Object" of "Follow Leader", they are going to choose one themselves and that's what those values are for.
This is amazing! Thank you for the tutorial!
thanks for your efforts 🔥❤️...i was looking for this since years..🙏
thanks for sharing!
Great tutorial
Pure awesomness!

thank you for this nice tutorial)
Hearing the rules of this system reminds me a lot of Sandkings.
more of this more of this !!!!! this is just few days...lol thanks Mate ! great explaining , good job well done ! greetings and sub !
Thank you so much
Nice work 💜👍👍
Incredible ^^ Thank's a lot
This is great thanks! Is it possible to have animations for the particles too? So if it’s a bunch of bugs they can crawl around?
Yes that is possible! If you create the animation with a rig and just select that object to be the particle it should work.

Me: Seeing this
Also me: Why I thinking of final battle of Ender's game?
And how do i instance animated objects for the boids so that they animate depending on whether they move or not?
Great explanation. I'm interested now to use #boidparticles in my next project. I need to find a reason now. :D Thanks alot.
How can these be coloured as seen in the thumbnail?
Amazing!!!!!!
Amazing thanks :)
I LOVE IT!!
how to kill the particles on an collision body object ? the particle still moving around the shape, they doset kill/die ...hm thanks
Subscribed 🥰
!!! THANK YOU!
It tells me every object I add for relations is an "Invalid Target!" is that a bug? (2.93b)
It looks pretty much like the vortex force field with particles system
hehe time to make some bats flying
So this is how they made that scene from finding nemo 🐠
How to give it color
what do i do if my birds fly sideways?
found a fix?
excellent :o)
