Agreed. I was raised on a steady diet of him, John Renbourn, Bert Jansch, Bruce Cockburn, and Phil Keggy. All amazing. Pierre has something unique though. My father met him about 25 or so years ago when he played in a small room at Ohio State. They took a wrong turn trying to go somewhere within the campus and stumbled upon him playing in front of a small group of about 20 people. From then on he went to see him almost a dozen times and still regards him with a kind of wonder.....
@@judsonbonneville6685 Love stories like that. I live in Dayton, OH and I once heard about a last minute show. It was a packed house, but only about 50 people could fit... Adrian Legg. Amazing, but somehow I'd have loved to have found that show you saw at OSU. I discovered PB from Michael Hedges actually. So glad I fell into this world!
@@simplyhamm 6yrs ago, when I was a young Buckeye, I played this song with my guitar on the oval. Every friday afternoon, Wuwei, with the sunset. A piece of treasure in my memery. Thanks PB!
One Lovely Man I had the Pleasure to meet after one of his gigs years ago. I told him I was unemployed and couldn't afford to buy his signed cd so he gave me one as a gift. A very lovely gesture from a very nice man and superb player
maestro I've always loved that jazz touch in folk melodies, I think there is no more beautiful combination made perfectly by your technical execution of a great connoisseur of musical harmony and all its secrets
Same story, David. But I''ll take it one step further. Saw him back in April front row and was mind-blown that not only was he as good as ever, his playing was even more contrapuntal and fluid than ever before! By the end of the two-hour show, my face hurt from smiling so much!!
Pierre is a god amongst men. Yet he remains humble. His music and his guitar techniques are crazy out of this world. But to him it's just about the music not the flashy techniques that every guitarist does. "Pierre bensusan is the greatest acoustic guitarist alive today" (A true legend)
The best thing ever is PB always never get bored with his own world of playing guitar, and thats made him the world class guitarist and i may say world No 1
I was fortunate enough to have one of my own compositions included in a songbook hosted by Pierre back in 2000 entitled "Pierre Bensusan Presents DADGAD Guitar' (now OOP.) To my ear- Pierre Bensusan is the most musical steel string guitarist on the scene today, hands down. His compositions are rich and emotive, his playing can make you cry one moment and just throw you out of your chair the next. Meeting him the first time- and him recognizing me and my own work- was one of the most humbling experiences of my life.
I can't believe there's a 'thumbs down' for this. What could someone possibly not like about it? A beautiful song, beautifully played. Thank-you so much for sharing...
Listen, I've said this at other videos too about thumbs down... if Jesus came floating down on a golden cloud and healed all the worlds ills, somebody somewhere watching it on UA-cam, would give it a thumbs down. There's no accounting for people like that so it's best not to carry them with you.
Pierre Bensusan is simply brilliant. I will never forget seeing him live in Exeter many years ago. I felt his music so emotional and generous that he was having a conversation with me about love and life. This recording is wonderful.
Bonsoir, I've been listening to you Pierre since i got some VHS tapes off of ebay about 15 years ago along with Kelly Joe Phelps when i was interested in altered tunings, came with a little book with the tab! I fell in love with other guitar music over the years but it is still beautiful to hear you play music through the Lowden.
One of the two extremes of acoustic guitar mastery, personally, the other being Emmanuel. Whilst Tommy offers sweet resounding buzzes of strings that embrace me into his cinematic music, Pierre's is more like shots of morphines. The pleasure is so sublime that it nullifies any other feeling.
Yeah, me too!! It's like listening to a fractalized flower explosion! Especially to those of us who remember the original recording of this beautiful piece compared to the way Pierre dances around it in this video.
Sometimes words as descriptive tool are just not enough!...I really like that 1.version when he was a lot younger just because of youth in general and energy it carries, he performed back than like super hero, any way this is still him.
EPIC! Pierre's dexterity and talent...Oh! Amazing! Great sounding Old Lady with combination of high-end mics make me feel like I have my ear near that Instrument. Great job done there! Keep it up Pierre! Btw... what about playing En route from Scarborough or Le Jardin D'Adonis? :)
amazing none the less. however, i wonder why he change the way he is holding the guitar (and his right hand technique) . seams like the older style was much more flawless for him. why fix something that is perfect.
+Adi Hazan i cannot speak for pierre but flawless is not the aim of art. I myself changed the way i play guitar from "techniquely right way to do it" to something different, because it enabled me to have more personal touch with the instrument and music i played. Perhaps pierre felt the same.
Pierre said a while ago he started playing in the classical position because he enjoyed the way it freed his right arm up, more comfortable for him, which is really important for a touring guitarist who doesn't want to get back and arm problems.
it's more ergonomic, less prone to arthritis, more range of motion. There's a reason it's been the primary choice of classical guitarists for centuries
world treasure ❤
I think of PB as the world's best secret. If you are here, then you are in the club.

This is music.
I believe Pierre is the best finger style guitarist in the world! I can’t think of another that even comes close.
Alive ... yes ... R.I.P Michael
i love the sound from his old lowdenguitar
After many listenings, I still can't decide whether Nice Feeling or Wu Wei is my favorite of Pierre's work.
Great play, most beautyfull song in DADGAD ever played ...bravo Pierre 👍👍😉😉

I've loved his music for decades now. Great to hear he's still so good.

In 250 years this song will still be played

The nobility and contagious optimism of this is absolutely awe inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing and shining your much needed musical light.

Pierre, this song is like an old friend. It is forever. I miss you my friend. Hope to see you again soon.
One of the most beautiful places to be❤: your music🌼
The way pierre plays is like a free flowing river but has control over it wherever it may go

The master of playing music with the soul!
One of the finest acoustic guitar players ever. Was lucky to see him live in Boston while studying at Berklee over 30 years ago.
The tune that made me fall in love with DADGAD ❤️🎶
Everytime i hear this wonderful song .. i have deep joyful vibs : Thank You!!!

Can always hit the like button before even watching! Brilliant Pierre!🎸
That little blues-y part at around 1.53 just makes me smile :)
You are the best guitar player,, in the world
Genius.
great respect shown from Pierre to the guitar!
This is definitely the most beautiful piece that can be played with a single guitar. God bless Pierre!!!
Bravo! For this master piece
Probablement un des meilleurs guitaristes au monde. Un touché incroyable.

Which mics are used here? Quite a lot, wonderful sound!
What about some "less famous" pieces like If Only You Knew or La Java du
