This feature is in DR 19 (non bet) which isn't out yet.
Covered that in the title. 19 is out in BETA and downloadable right now.
Now if only we could have the timeline stay fixed and the playhead just go offscreen. My first wave of edits is just trimming down outtakes and cutting dead air, and I could do that without pausing if it stopped moving me around. It would also help when I'm working on clips a few seconds long, or making fraction-of-second edits (which is frequent.) it always jumps me as I'm releasing the mouse and drags the clip onto another one. I could move SO MUCH FASTER.
You should be working in the Cut Page for that.
You also might want to think about picking up their speed editor or editing keyboards.

Yeah, I can understand why you might feel that way. Keep in mind, they give away a TON with that free version. Adobe premiere pro isn’t giving away anything like that. They do have to make some money and I hope when you see features in the paid version that it will help make the decision of whether to stay with the free version of upgrade to the studio

You can’t. It’s a feature just released in v.19
how to install plugins in davinci resolve
VST plugins?
You don’t install them into Resolve, you install them into your system and Resolve (along with any other software) recognizes them kind of like the way fonts work.

I've got an issue that I've been struggling with for a while; during timeline playback, there's multiple instances where it'll lag for a moment but *especially* in between two video clips/dramatic changes in the scenery of the video. I've tried utilizing the render cache, changing the timeline resolution, all that jazz, but nothing seems to work!
Most likely you’re running Resolve on a system that is near or below the recommended (not minimum) requirements.
That’s usually not a software issue but a system issue.
One other thing you can try on those specific trouble spots is “Render in place”-> ua-cam.com/users/shortsMgh-coat3PU?si=pouOZokuF9RAdKHi

Playhead stays center, no follow at all.
Must download version 19 directly from the Blackmagic Design website for this new feature

Not so far. It’s been pretty stable.
