Queen's first hit in America, love it. If you notice in concerts the camera mainly focused on Freddie, this is my opinion, I believe Freddie realize this early on, and would go from one band member to another so they would get in the spotlight too, some people think he was taking the spotlight, but I think because Freddie was so charismatic that the other band members would have been ignored otherwise, so Freddie wasn't being selfish, he was being thoughtful. Thanks Hap.
I totally AGREE... I love how Freddie - as you said - would go around to Brian & the others so that he would draw the audience's attention to them. (And the way Freddie would sometimes get on his knees next to Brian playing, like he's paying Brian homage.)😺
This is the first song I heard from Queen, and it’s the song that made me a fan. The lyrics are so clever about a high class call girl, the melody so intricate and only Freddie could handle those chord changes. And also only Freddie could pull off a bare chest with a fur jacket and satin pants
HAP!! if you could have seen the smile😃 on my face when the notification/ reaction for Killer Queen came across my screen! This is one of my all time favorite Queen songs and videos! So visually and melodically beautiful❤🖤
When you think about what kind of sound Queen LIVE brought to the stage 46 years ago and you can't manage it today to get a good sounding halftime show at the Superbowl on.
Fabulous classic! Queen just makes everything better! They transcend everything, there were no envelopes or barriers! They set the highest standard for live performances, a testament to their pure talent! They also have so many criminally underrated gems! The ballad is about a high class call girl (aka courtesan). It was too bad that it was required for the band to mime/lip sync to a playback track. Even the drum symbols were fake. The experience must have been pure torture for them to have to mime and also a major insult to their artistic talent and professional integrity. What also sucks is they actually never played the entire song through live, it was always part of a medley. They definitely put the glam in glam rock! In their early years, they wore vintage outfits during concerts and they all shared outfits, mixing and matching as needed. Freddie and Roger also ran a vintage clothes stall together and when it came to looking for possible items to sell, Freddie definitely lived by the motto "one man's trash is another man's treasure" if you catch my drift. One Queen book I highly recommend is Queen in 3d 2019 deluxe edition by Brian May with in depth stories and 3d pictures (which comes with special viewer).
I hadn't realised that you hadn't done this one. Freddie had black nails on one hand and Brian had white nails on one hand. 😂 Thanks for the reaction, Hap!
Rock musicians wearing black nail polish has become fairly common nowadays. But Freddie was doing it in early 1970’s. Whether he was the first is debatable, but he was a pioneer just the same. 😏
This song holds a special place in my heart because it was the first Queen song I heard on the radio. They had no money back then, even when this song went to #2 on the UK charts they didn't see the royalties. There is a fan club letter written by Roger just before the album Sheer Heart Attack came out saying he hoped they liked the new single because it is a departure from their usual rock and roll style. He and Brian were definitely sceptical whether it would sell. If you look very carefully Brian is wearing white nail polish on his left hand. This is leftover from Queen II where Freddie had side black and Brian had side white. React to Killer Queen Live At The Rainbow 1974. It hilariously shows John playing the triangle! It is the first song in a medley and is only 1:30 long so maybe react to the medley!
Ahhh thank you Hap- I haven’t seen this in a long while. Our beautiful young Freddie. You caught the great work on the panning. Yes- it’s Freddie’s song! This is I believe the best version. I LOVE you are using the books! WOW!! I love this reaction!
Well, I'm saying it: I've missed your Queen reactions! And your comment on Freddie's oddacity and self-confidence reminded me of his own words (yes, he knew how good he/they were) and I looked for that quote that is so original and perfect description of his way to reach success so here it is: "A lot of people are creative but you can't just sit at home and say "Look, I'm so wonderful, I'm so creative, I'll just wait." No, you've got to go out there and actually Grab it and utilize it and make it work. That is a part of talent. Having talent is one thing but to actually use it and Feed to the masses is another part of talent. A lot of people I know who are very talented but they just haven't made it because, I mean, they haven't got that "extra" thing that is needed. I think, you know, you just could really sell you, you just got to sell your ass, just to go there and Ram it down their throats and say: "Here, I'm Creative I'm Wonderful and here - EAT IT !!!"

@@susanneg2824 Freddie was very handsome with or without the mustache. I guess as grew older he thought the long hair had to go, anyways I thought he was just fine both ways😊
I was born and raised there, saw them 2x in Memphis 1974 & 1980 (and once in New Orleans 1978). Are you from there, too? Did you seen Queen in Memphis, if so, what year?
Great reaction HAP. See I told you havent done this song. Yes you are right QUEEN is the GREATEST LIVE BAND EVER. I am glad you liked the song. Awww enjoyed your comments Hap! 👍🏼✨ Your love for Queen music makes their songs to be more appreciated and loved by the listeners! That's how I feel when I listen to this song with you. Thank you for your great reaction! 💜💜
Awesome! Thanks for your great reaction! I believe this was their first major hit that got them recognition. They had a prior hit with seven seas of rye but this one was bigger.

I want to watch that again while reading the lyrics! I could not understand every word but I am old. It is amazing how our boy can remember certain moves in certain songs. And, all the other incredible details he can remember. But, once again, I am old and can't remember what day it is. If he cut himself, musical notes would flow out. 🎼🎶 He needs to claim his share of profits from the sales of that book! They MUST have gone up with the way he shares it! His use of it after every Queen song is perfect. Bravo (again), my boy. 👏👏👏👏
Hi hap great to see classic Queen , I dont know if you did the killer queen/I'm in love with my car medley live at montreal another great performance and worth checking out , great reaction my friend and stay safe ❤
I was thirteen years old when this song out. My friends and I would do hand gestures as we 'sang 'dressed in our bell bottom jeans, smock tops and platform shoes.
Killer Queen - A classic song, hit No 2 in the charts prior to Bohemian Rhapsody hitting the world.........Don't forget "Body Language" for that bass riff.
Thank you for your reaction! This is a great song !!! Brian's solo is perfect, the band's choral sound is perfect as always, Freddie's vocals are perfect as always. But the main thing is the lyrics. I have never heard such an interesting song. But to understand her charm, you need to listen to her several times.
In all of the concert videos I’ve seen, Freddie interacts a lot with the guys, especially with Brian on guitar solos - look at Live Aid for a good example
Yes Freddie wrote this song and Brian said it was the perfect quintessentially Freddie Queen song,,,he thought it was a clever sophisticated song that Freddie had written...it was their 1st #1 hit in Britain in 74. His voice is so beautiful, even when he was 45 before he died, his voice was still beautiful and had not changed unlike other artists like Paul McCartney whose beautiful voice changed by Live Aid (he was around 45 then)
This is the first look of Queen for me!! You can’t help but stop and stare!! 😳“Betcha by golly wow”. YES ... Freddie got our attention!!! Still does - Queen performs this song live at Montreal then transitions into I’M IN LOVE WITH MY CAR. HaHaHa! I just accidentally typed (I’m In Love With My Cat). 😂😂
Dude. I have to say, honestly. I believe you have the coolest reaction chanel. Your honest, intelligent, interpretations of the things you're watching. Super cool & fun to watch.
Yeah, I thought you did this one 😂😂😂. It was one of their first singles to gain fame, due to being on The Top of the Pops. Of course, everything on The Top of the Pops Show was mimed 😂😂. But this was a clever and upbeat song that resonated with listeners (who all knew it was “mimed” 😂). Great reaction HAP! 🌻
This song was the first number one hit for Queen in the US. I have a request that I haven’t seen you do yet. I know you’ve done Keep Yourself Alive Demo version and on Top of the Pops, but you definitely need to react to Keep Yourself Alive in Montreal 81. It’s a whole different vibe. Rockin hard, John jamming his butt off on the bass, Brian killing it on the guitar and Roger giving one of his best performances on the drums. Roger even said during the documentary with Brian of the Montreal Concert that the song was the hardest hitting and most exhausting and hard on the arms for him to play. Then to top it all off, Freddie giving an amazing vocal and stage performance of pure energy and fun. In my opinion it’s the BEST version of Keep Yourself Alive! Great reactions as always Hap! Keep them coming friend. Stay safe and enjoy ♥️
KILLER QUEEN I ALSO THOUGHT YOU HAD REACTED TO IT. THAT'S OK I WOULD WATCH THEM ALL.! THIS SONG WAS SO EXTREMELY GREAT TO SAY THE LEAST. THERE IS NO WAY THERE WILL BE ANYTHING LIKE THIS AGAIN..FREDDIE HAD HIS VISIONS. AND AS WE KNOW PAYED ATTENTION TO EVERY DETAIL NOT ONLY MUSICALLY BUT WITH HOW HE AND QUEEN SHOULD LOOK FROM HEAD TO TOE. MORE SO IN THE EARLY YEARS ,I THINK. ANOTHER FANTASTIC, INSIGHTFUL REACTION, HAP THANK YOU! 🥰❤🎶 NOW I THINK I WILL BE HEADING TO THE PLAY LIST. AT YOUR SUGGESTION😉
As to whether or not Freddie liked his look during these glam rock days, during an interview in the mid 80's the subject came up and Freddie said that it worked for that time and place but it would look ridiculous now. Then a pause and he said, "Of course it looked ridiculous then too." Pretty funny.
When Killer Queen came out in the U.S. in 1974, around the time I graduated high school (oops...dated myself a bit there), I became an immediate and lifelong Queen fan. Not only was the song in its entirety completely unique, but the iconic sound of Brian May's guitar coupled with Freddie's incredible voice made this band an instant standout among so many great bands of the day. Still one of my all-time fav Queen songs! Thanks for the reaction, Hap!
Classic Queen is great! Even their album cuts still hold up! Queen/I'm In Love With My Car, written and lead vocals by Roger Taylor, from the 1975 album A Night At The Opera.... Queen is very much like the Beatles and Elton John in that the entire album is usually stellar and not just the hits from the album.
Please, make reaction to Let me live, Mother love, These are the days of our lives-, I'm going slightly mad, Sail away sweet sister...and Too much love will kill you (Brian,s version)
It's pretty well accepted that this song is supposedly about a high-priced Call Girl. In the documentary "Freddie Mercury - King of Queen", there's an interview with Eric Hall, Queen's former EMI publicist: He said that someone told him "The song is about YOU, you know!" It's pointed out that Eric always kept Moet et Chandon in a cabinet in his office... and apparently, Eric said that Freddie used to come by to see him/flirted with him shamelessly. :D
I like the way you reacted to this song. The rewind, etc. I guess I'll have to watch more of your reactions to other songs. Also liked you confirming your comments with the book. I'd love to have that book! Great reaction (we already know the song is brilliant 😉) 👍
So glad to know things are well with you and delighted that you've reacted to one of my favorite Queen 's songs. If you haven't reacted to Stone Cold Crazy (from 1974) and Bijou (more gentle sound) would you put those on your list of songs?? Thanks.
Anybody can be a"star" now,as long as you have the right look& project the image looked for, you don't need to sing.well(auto tune) or musicianship now, it's freaking sad what passes as music now.
Fact about the nail polish ☺️ Freddie only painted his left hand with black nail polish and Brian May mirrored this by painting only his right hand with white nail polish... You can notice it in some concerts of this period
Killer Queen is Freddies off their album sheer heart attack 74 Earlier in the year they released Queen 2 their second album Freddies single seven seas got to no 10 and they were on top of the pops again with this one that got to no 2 On Queen 2 the white side is Brians songs and one from Roger Brian wore white nail varnish The black side is all Freddies songs He wore black nail varnish and the look stayed for a while! Like Freddie said in the 80s I looked ridiculous but it worked! Edit I don't think he looked ridiculous!
Brian May and Tim Staffell wrote Doin' Alright when they along with Roger Taylor were in the band Smile. The song was then re-recorded by Queen and was on their first album. Here's a link to the Smile original version of Doin' Alright. ua-cam.com/video/B6bIyVW5pSc/v-deo.html
This reminds me of Roxy Music in the Top of the Pops in 1972 with their song Virginia Plain ua-cam.com/video/BonWfTW7jKc/v-deo.html Their glam style and music hit the show like a rock, similarly to David Bowie back then. Bryan Ferry was such a hottie. And master mind Brian Eno was still in the band. I have ths song on my jogging playlist. Lifts my spirits everytime.

Such a lovely thing to say.
I agree with you.
Right??? I totally agree

Please, make reaction to Let me live, Mother love, These are the days of our lives-, I'm going slightly mad, Sail away sweet sister...and Too much love will kill you (Brian,s version)
Great songs!
First song I ever heard of Queen. David Bowie said you had to get out there (weird) to stand out. 🔥
Hi, I love Queen they are one of the best band there was this song was one of the early ones, love them! Thank you for your reaction!❗💜
Queen 👑! Freddie mercury is a legend bro 😎!!
Killer Queen es un deleite para los oídos ✨
It's pretty well accepted that this song is supposedly about a high-priced Call Girl. In the documentary "Freddie Mercury - King of Queen", there's an interview with Eric Hall, Queen's former EMI publicist: He said that someone told him "The song is about YOU, you know!" It's pointed out that Eric always kept Moet et Chandon in a cabinet in his office... and apparently, Eric said that Freddie used to come by to see him/flirted with him shamelessly. :D
Yeah Freddie told him it was about him
Saying it is,its killing me I cant have you!
@@bluebell3720 🙊🙉🙈💕
It was Roger's mic..anytime
The only way to truly listen to Queen is with a headset..🎧 you should hear what you're missing!! 😎🎧
I found this out through Hap! I will never again listen to Freddie & Queen without them!
I like the way you reacted to this song. The rewind, etc. I guess I'll have to watch more of your reactions to other songs. Also liked you confirming your comments with the book. I'd love to have that book! Great reaction (we already know the song is brilliant 😉) 👍
Freddie only painted his left hand...because he couldn't do the right so perfectly x
Oh you got the book 👍
Freddie did the air guitar thing throughout Queens career, it was part of his schtick.
So glad to know things are well with you and delighted that you've reacted to one of my favorite Queen 's songs. If you haven't reacted to Stone Cold Crazy (from 1974) and Bijou (more gentle sound) would you put those on your list of songs?? Thanks.
Great reaction HAP.
Anybody can be a"star" now,as long as you have the right look& project the image looked for, you don't need to sing.well(auto tune) or musicianship now, it's freaking sad what passes as music now.
More queen please please!!!!!!
Fact about the nail polish ☺️
Freddie only painted his left hand with black nail polish and Brian May mirrored this by painting only his right hand with white nail polish... You can notice it in some concerts of this period
Killer Queen is Freddies off their album sheer heart attack 74
Earlier in the year they released Queen 2 their second album
Freddies single seven seas got to no 10 and they were on top of the pops again with this one that got to no 2
On Queen 2 the white side is Brians songs and one from Roger
Brian wore white nail varnish
The black side is all Freddies songs
He wore black nail varnish and the look stayed for a while!
Like Freddie said in the 80s I looked ridiculous but it worked!
Edit
I don't think he looked ridiculous!
Queen was pissed off because Top of the Pops wanted them to lip sync, so Freddie was acting out more than usual on camera.
Freddie was A BORN PERFORMER...end of story....no.....the BEGINNING...
This reminds me of Roxy Music in the Top of the Pops in 1972 with their song Virginia Plain ua-cam.com/video/BonWfTW7jKc/v-deo.html
Their glam style and music hit the show like a rock, similarly to David Bowie back then. Bryan Ferry was such a hottie. And master mind Brian Eno was still in the band.
I have ths song on my jogging playlist. Lifts my spirits everytime.
😊😊😊😊😊👍👍👍💕💓💗💖
PS I also thought you had reacted to this before.
❤️😀👍❤️✌️🌼
How about some Motown?
The Supremes ..The Temptations
Marvin Gaye
Was at the same time David Bowie was androgynous
Live band>>>>>>Queen zero auto/tunnneee That is all I am sayin.
