- It’s time to hunker down for the winter!
I decided to do some book shopping and expand my TBR before the snow rolls in. I went to a few local used book stores and even bought a couple new releases.
Let’s go through the entire haul and talk about some of the new novels I picked up.
If you have any thoughts as always feel free to leave a comment and get the conversation going.
Long days and pleasant nights.
Hey man just found your channel recently through your king ranking. As a king fan, and just a reader in general especially of the horror genre,I'll definitely stick around. Keep up the great work.
Thanks and welcome! 🍻
@@jimmymango Search for . ' Solving 9-11 By Christopher Bollyn . '
Rest in Peace Peter Straub. Ghost Story is a classic!
James Herbert is good.. I recommend The Fog and The Rats 🐀
I work the 4 am shift at a sam's club and I listen to audio books while working. The Outsider, the stand and Chestnut man were great. I've been listening to Pretty girls lately. Thanks for the great recommendations.👌🏻
I just found your channel but Im so glad I did! I love your passion for reading man. I love Stephen King and that's what got me here. But I could listen to you talk about books all day. Keep doin cool stuff man!
Thank you! 🍻
Hey man I picked up my own book haul yesterday: Endless Night and Alarum by Laymon, The Troop by Nick Cutter, Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill, Last House on Needless Street, Hellfire Club by Peter Straub, Haunted and Ghosts of Sleath by James Herbert! Cannot wait to dive in!
This Perfect Day is so good too. One of Levins' best.
So if you read hellfire, I’d recommend Mr x. It’s very similar & Stephen king just published fairy tale and it’s available at Walmart or target for 2 hour pickup. Have a nice day!! Happy reading!!
I really liked Sundial, lots of twists and turns as with The Last House of Needless Street!
If you loved The Chill, you will love Where They Wait! 🖤🧡🖤
Hey Jimmy! Great video.
Just finished the last dark tower novel… what a ride. Started it because of you man!
Still need a couple days to let that ending sink in though lol
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Peter Straub died yesterday September 6. I just saw it on a news feed and thought how great you just picked up a book of his. You even inspired me to give Ghost Story another run through because it's been a long time for such a great read. How wonderful of a writer he was that his legacy will carry long long after he's gone.
RIP Peter Straub 💀 🖤
(I think he would appreciate the ghoulish and not the sentimental)
Tragic news. He will be missed for sure. He was a great writer.
Good to see you back Jimmy!
Thanks! 🍻
You’re welcome! 🥃
Can’t wait to hear your “Fairy Tale” review !!
It’s coming…
I bought This Perfect Day a while back when it was referenced in Travelers on Netflix. Now I gotta read it.
Hell yeah, more Laymon! I recently bought In The Dark, Funland and the Beast House trilogy. Cant wait to dive into those. Awesome haul! Beautiful hardcover copies, must look great on the shelf :)
Glad you’re back! Looking forward to the coming reviews.
Gone South is really good.
I have This Perfect Day in my TBR as well
6:30 i can already see how that one's going to go
Love the video and the books you picked, great selection!
Just found you're channel bro & love your reviews & recomendations . . . 👍🏻
Hey jimmy,i ve absolutely loved the video, love the channel, great finds,i was going to give you a heads up about reading Haunted before Ghosts of Sleath but i went through the comms and seen that someone s already mentioned it to you. You re doing a great job, keep up the good work bud
Hellfire Club is so underrated. You also need to read Floating Dragon by Straub. Excellent stuff.
Just read In the Dark a couple months back. The story is wild and if you could guess, the wagers get pretty crazy/dark. Highly recommend since you're a Laymon fan!
Great video as usual. I’ve collected a lot of the books you’ve reviewed over the past year, and I’ve read a good deal of them. Chasing The Boogeyman was fantastic. I assume you pre-ordered the new Stephen King book “Fairy Tales”?
Yeah I will be picking up my copy of Fairy Tale tomorrow. Hoping to read it real quick and post a review.
Just finished Gone South myself. It's a treat. McCammon writes compelling, and sometimes ridiculous characters.
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. Hoping to get to that one soon.
fair comment after reading gone south, :)
I read The Hellfire Club when it first came out, I just started college. It's witty and more psychological that horror per se but one of the reasons I love Straub.
Thirteen Stories is an anthology of sorts but the main story connects it all. I typically don't like anthologies but this connects the characters.
Where They Wait was such a good book. In the end when it all comes together to realize what was done kind of broke me. It's the horror of what technology and money can truly accomplish.
And if you liked The Chill, you might like The Ridge by Michael Koryta. It was the first book I read by him and then I just flew right through all his books.
This is really helpful! Thanks!
I haven’t read any of these, but I loved The Chill. Hope Where They Wait is just as good.
Brilliant channel and absolutely love the reviews! They have turned me towards checking out authors like Laymon and McCammon so I thank you Jimmy!
Thanks! I’m glad I could help.
This summer i read finders keepers, pretty good. Oh and I’m graduating this year.
Jimmy notices Stephen King blurb* “Oh yeah, I’m into that”
I've not read any, but I'd love to read that one with the game master! Sounds very cool.
John Darnielle makes music in a band called The Mountain Goats. You should check em out!
R.I.P peter straub
Just read the hellfire club very good book glad to see you back!
Awesome! I’m excited to get to that one. Thanks!
The hellfire club was published in 1996. the duffer brothers, loved Peter Straub and that book in particular so they decided to use that name. just thought I’d share that with you have a nice day!
Thank you! I knew there had to be some sort of connection.
Please post an update on In The Dark. It’s been on my to read list for a while now.
Devil House has been on my TBR for such a long time. The synopsis reminds me so much of the film Sinister (which is a great movie). Hopefully we get a review in the coming months!!!
Keep the amazing vids coming Jimmy!
I loved Sinister so that sounds promising. Will definitely do a review. Thanks!
Hiiii new sub here! I’ve been binge watching your videos as I am a huge Stephen king fan and love reading in general! I have so many screenshots of your recommended books for future visits to the book store lol easily my favorite channel 😬
Thanks and welcome! Hope you find some good stuff.
Mystery by PStraub is book two from the blue rose trilogy
I live not far from Milpitas, CA, so Devil House sounds intriguing.
Sorry if I butchered the pronunciation

gone south is a banger
Love Gone South, I love most of McCammon's stuff, Mystery by Straub as well, read that before hell fire club they are not related but for me its a much more enjoyable read James Herbert I think you'll enjoy as well i haven't read that one but he is very 'Steven king esk' in style ....really love your channel as a big reader/collector it's great to come across a channel like this. Enjoy the new novels looking forward to hearing what you think especially about Gone South .As far as McCammon goes I cant recommend more his epic Swan song, whilst nothing like the rest of his stuff it is an all time favorite of mine, its a massive apocalyptical fantasy I'm sure you would absolutely love
Thanks for the little preview. Can’t wait to dive in. I did read Swan Song and enjoyed it.
Hi man! After more years than I care to admit, my first book, a middle grade novel titled Sixth Grade Secret Service, releases in December. Would you consider reading and possibly reviewing a middle grade mystery? I'd be happy to send you a copy once I get them :)
Hi Jimmy. How do you select new authors to read? By recommendations? Based on the cover or the summary at the back of the books?
Usually I just peruse the Horror section and book stores and just read the premise on the back.
Thirteen Stories is written by Jonathan Sims who is responsible for writing the Horror podcast The Magnus Archives. He's very good at writing creepy horror and I definitely recommend listening to the podcast.
Good to know! Thank you!
Everyone says swan song is like the stand I think you might like it just got into king so haven’t read the stand yet but mikes book review raves about it along with boys life
Nothing like a trip to the used book store! Looks like you may have found some treasures! Glad to see ya back on here and I look forward to some reviews. Read on my friend! On a side not have you dove into Bentely Little at all? I've read a handful of his books lately and enjoyed them.
I still have not checked out Bentley Little but he’s on my radar.
Jimmy, you need to check out Koko by Peter Straub......first book in the Blue Rose Trilogy of which Mystery is the 2nd book.
Thanks! I’ve found the last 2 at used book stores but I’m still trying to track that one down
Can you do Christmas horror and thriller books for this Christmas.
I read Sundial and Devil House earlier this year. Didn't enjoy Devil House, was pretty boring imo. Sundial was ok tho. Haven't read any of the other ones. Great video Jimmy!
Can you please read psycho and do a movie comparison
Spiderman wants more videos from u
I noticed you have Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged on your shelf behind you. Do you agree with her philosophy of objectivism?
It’s interesting…but I’m not totally on board.
@@jimmymango oh ok glad to hear that haha
love the videos. Can you please review Grey Matter by Stephen King?
Solving 9-11 By Christopher Bollyn .
New Subscriber here. GREAT CHANNEL! Curious, have you read THE HAUNTED series by Tony Marturano ?
ᑭᖇOᗰOᔕᗰ 🔥
You need to read Haunted before you read The Ghost of Sleath
Is it a sequel? Or just because you think it’s better?
Not a direct sequel as you can technically go straight to The Ghosts of Sleath, but it’s part of a trilogy called Ash starring the same main character and it does have a fair few references to the first book, which is Haunted. Hope that helps
This is a huge help! Thanks!
