Good video, love hearing about all these books. 10k, awesome! UA-cam rewards people for doing a weekly upload if you are ever able to manage that. Good luck!
I have been wondering when you were going to post a new video. I have really been enjoying them since finding your channel. I started reading Paul Tremblay this year and I am really liking his stuff. I havn't seen you discuss him before. A Head Full of Ghosts is my favorite so far.
Thanks Malon! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen Head Full of Ghosts sitting on the shelf at the bookstore but I never grab it. I will next time now.
Hell yeah, Thomas Olde Heuvelt is amazing. I'm Dutch and I recently finished his 3rd book Orakel, it's just awesome. This winter he is coming out with a 4th book called November. Love going through your backlog of video's! Great to see someone as enthusiastic as you are about horror :)
Of these books, I've only read The Last House on Needless Street. I figured out what was going on right at the beginning because it's a subject close to me, but the book is really great. One of the best I've read in a while.
You're the only UA-camr to have mentioned Thomas Olde Heuvelt and I'm surprised. I read Hex and Echo; love horror from Dutch, Swedish, Scandinavian, Finnish, Norwegian authors, I've never really been disappointed. It's great horror, heavy atmosphere, mixes horror genres such as pagan rituals with violent death. Everything always ties together in the craziest ways but so awesome.
100% agree with you on Needless Street - I've been recommending to anyone who'll listen. Also just finished Kill Creek by Scott Thomas and was totally blown away by that.
I’d like to recommend James A. Moore, and in particular, his book, This Is Halloween. It’s one of my favorite anthologies and I get the feeling you’d enjoy the tone of the landscape he creates within the stories, the creep factor, and the unique way the stories are interconnected. It would be very good to read in the Fall as we near All Hallows’ Eve because a couple of the stories are about trick-or-treating, but really it can be savored at any time of year. 🎃 Your reviews are top notch and the first time I’ve heard a suggestion to read a series in reverse order! That’s a great concept. 👍🏻
Last House On Needless Street was one of my favourite reads last year. I have I Am The Tiger, but have only read the first book so far. Lindqvist is one of my favourite authors.
@@jimmymango yes, I enjoy your recommendations! I am also a Constant Reader, and liked all the references in Gwendy's Final Task! Looking forward to Fairy Tale, sounds very interesting!
Great recommendations! I've only read The Last House on Needless Street from this review. I read it last September and even now I find myself remembering the plot twists every now and then. You know it was a good book when you think about it even months later! :) I'll be sure to check out the rest of these novels!
I did enjoy Needless Street but not as much as I thought I would. loved Hex (oddly enough, way more than I thought I would) and really looking forward to reading Echo! such good recommendations, thank you 😊
Yes!!! The Last House on Needless Street. I loved this book experience - I didnt read the printed book - I listened to the audiobook. And Oh my God…this book was amazing. At the end of the audiobook the author explains the research that went into writing it. Please avoid any info/discussions before reading this. Highly highly recommend this, especially the audiobook because it provides you with different voices for each character. I LOVED THIS BOOK 😀
I was waiting for SO LONG for the Lindqvist book. I would remember the series every six months for a news update about the translation. A few months it FINALLY just randomly popped up as in English and available for purchase. I was so excited.
How you described about the book not living up to the hype, unfortunately that was what the stand was for me. Can’t explain it but it was hard for me to finish but I did finish it tonight. With the gwendy trilogy do u suggest putting that into your extended dark tower journey and if so where in there should i put it? I’m on the eyes of the dr ago right now.
I agree with your Laymons TVS review. I enjoyed but lots of nit much happening. Island was good but Dark Mountain and midnights lair are my favourites. 👍🏻
Can I recommend Adam Neville for your reading? As a hard core horror fan, no author has ever shaken me like him. He is a word wizard, taking mundane circumstances and twisting your brain. Netflix made 2 movies from his books, they were good but nowhere as haunting as the books.
Jimmy, your recommendations are always and I mean ALWAYS on point. I was wondering about SK multiuniverse episodes. Are you planning on continuing those? I really enjoyed them!!
I used to be an avid fiction reader. I’m 30 now, and I’m just now reigniting my love for fiction, specifically horror (halfway through SK’s “The Stand” now). Thank you SO much for making these videos! You’ve got yourself another faithful watcher! Keep ‘em coming man!
New to the channel, love your recommendations! Have you read "Of Foster Homes and Flies" by Chad Lutzke? it's a favorite recent read for me in the horror department
@@jimmymango I hope you like it, it was my first book by the author and I then proceeded to read every single thing he has published thus far because I loved it so much. :)
If you want a good sci-fi horror, check out The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling For Laymon, Darkness Tell Us I thought was one of his best but I only read 5-6 from Laymon so take that as you wish.
Totally agree that the Ward book has the ultimate misdirect. Well said! I'm very interested in the Lindqvist book - so will have to read the first two. A great start to the reading year so far :) Hmmm reading a series backward - I wonder how many series that can be applied to.
Should I read the Button Box trilogy before the tower series? I already have a list of books I should read before TDT. I’m wondering if I NEED to read Gwendy first
I started to understand what the book was about (The house on needless street) before I got to the end, the author leaves clues throughout the text as to what's going on. I enjoyed the book. Very unique.
Needless Street is fantastic, I just finished her most recent book Sundial today, also amazing. She is really good at combining weird and supernatural ideas with very real horrors that people face everyday. Her next book comes out in October and I was absolutely devour it.
@@jimmymango I love how fast Laymon books are. There is never a slow moment. It's hard to find a good time to put his books down, lol. And yeah, Savage, wild west meets Victorian England Jack the Ripper, how can you go wrong? Also, if you are into Laymon have you ever read Brian Keene?
Yeah I agree. I find most of his books I finish in a couple days max. I haven’t read Keene but if you’re comparing him to Laymon I probably should check him out.
I just finished Last House on Needless Street last night and wow I loved it. I loved how much of a puzzle it was to figure out what was really going on. It was emotional, really unsettling, and most of all I loved that not a single word was wasted. Expertly written imo. Also I read it because of this video, so thank you!
I’m pretty sure I have that book on pre-order right now and the release date keeps getting pushed back. At least I think I’m thinking of the same book.
I can't get this vid 2 send 2 my txt so I can l8r write down all boox u suggest, plz send me link I can send 2 my txt so I can write them down so can look 4 them 2 download on my Kindle prime. Thnx 🤗
Gwendy's Final Task was tedious as hell to get through. The first two were nice reads, but this third book was a pain. The plot was good, the characters maybe not so much. The connections to the Dark Tower worked well enough, but (spoiler alert) Gwendy's condition was mentioned every other sentence and just took me out of the story every single time. Just my opinion.
I have the feeling King is linking a lot of his stories into the dark tower universe . He even manages to re-instate earlier novels and piece them into the Dark tower universe somehow.
You deserve more subs and views! But considering how persistence and hard work pays off, it will come eventually!
Good video, love hearing about all these books. 10k, awesome! UA-cam rewards people for doing a weekly upload if you are ever able to manage that. Good luck!

almost to 10k! awesome man. 2022 gonna be big for book-type channels like yours I can feel it

I'm reading (audible) The last house on needless st now because of you and it's amazing so far.
Please someone give this man a sponsorship. Subbed.
TBR getting crazy but THE LAST HOUSE ON NEEDLESS STREET now added on the GET IT NOW part of list ;) THANX for another brilliant one

At the moment I'm reading Olde Heuvelt's Orakel right now in dutch, great atmosphere! Think you will love it!
I can’t wait for that one to get translated into English! According to Heuvelt that should be done a lot quicker than Echo was.
So happy I’ve discovered this channel cause I’ve been wanting to get into reading

That’s funny because I was basically doing the same thing. I would’ve been real disappointed if I couldn’t complete the trilogy.

seeing the living dead book in the back, would love to see youre top zombie books!
I highly, HIGHLY recommend “The Silent Patient.” It kinda has the same vibes as Needless Street, but far better IMO
I suggest to you The Chestnut Man. Really messed up killer, although the ending disappointed me a little (still think it’s amazing though).

In which position would you rank Gwendy's final task in your SK ranking video?
Not too high. I’d say maybe a little better than Gwendys Button Box.
I like your book review video and my books are horror and paranormal .
YES!
I don’t read but I love these videos. What’s wrong with me??

My policy now is if one of these videos even mentions the name S King, I am OUT.
👍
Omg you are so cute and handsome! Sorry no offense. Love your reviews! =^,,^=
I read catriona ward's book and think it is the worst book I have ever read, no more books by this author.
I love Stephen Kings stuff but he’s gotten so political that I really have a hard time reading him anymore.
Same here bub
