- If you’re an avid Stephen King reader than this is the video for you. I grabbed 6 King novels and recommend a similar novel from another author.
If your looking for some new reading material check this one out!
Enjoy!🍻
I’m not exaggerating when I say that you’re legitimately my favorite UA-camr. I look forward to your uploads more than anyone else on this platform. Looking forward to more Jimmy!
Thank you Blake! I’m going to try my best to get content up more frequently.
I second that!
I’m in the middle of doing the Dark Tower deep dive you recommend. I’m currently on “Insomnia.” Keep up the King Content!
Hell yeah, glad to see another vid from you.
Thanks Alex!

Enjoy your videos keep em coming
I think I actually loved Swan Song more than The Stand. I’ve read it twice!
Absolutely LOVED Summer of Night!
Great video, thanks for the suggestions! The next to read list is GROWING! Thank you
Another great video, love your recommendations man
Love every video you do. I'm also a big Stephen King fan and collector. I have read some of those comparable books but I am jealous of your Carrion Comfort Hardcover. Love that book and it is on my first edition wish list.
This is a great video. Thanks for all these suggestions ! 🎉
Thank you! Дякую!
I recently read Funland while on vacation and loved it! Thanks again Jimmy for introducing me to the magic of Laymon!!
Great video, excellent recommendations!
I have summer of night on my tbt for June or July. Hearing you compare that book too IT makes me so excited too read it 😊 great vid!
Great Video, will defo try some of these 👍
Always a treat when you drop a new video. I’m halfway through my first read of IT, and loving it so far
Thanks Chris!
Same here actually! First time ever reading IT, I'm on page 630.
Nice work! I'm yet to read IT, the size is more terrifying than the prospect of encountering Pennywise!! Is it as addictive as the papers say?
@@MJ-vo8hq It's an amazing book. You'll be sad when it's over.
I recommend watching the original miniseries first. With so many characters, I like going in to the book already knowing what the characters look like.
Also, you're not left with that disappointed feeling thinking about everything that the movie cut out.
Swan Song was awesome, but one book I have found that has a lot of similarities to The Stand is The Last Tribe byBrad Manuel. Has anyone here read that?
I loooove The Tommyknockers. But it's the first ever King I read, so maybe that's part of my love for it. Wouldn't compare it to The Taking though.
I Always look forward to your videos ! Great books and great recommendations! Thank you !
Thanks Linda!!
Great video. More like this, please.
I recently read Project Hail Mary (loved it!), and I was pleasantly surprised to find that Andy Weir’s storytelling style and character development is similar to SK. 😀
It's so nice to see you again. I love your videos. I'm currently reading "Christine", and I bought "Summer of Night" a few weeks ago. Greetings from Berlin.🙂
I absolutely enjoyed swan song it's way better than the stand
Great video as always! You never miss, you actually got me into reading a bit. I was never a big reader and to be completely honest, I still am not. But your videos have inspired me to begin to read a bit more than I ever have. Completely unrelated question though, where did you get that hoodie? Thing is nice!
I always love your recs so much!
Thanks Anna!
I have read Summer of night...interesting that Dan Simmons is one of SK's favourite authors. Carrion comfort was frightening. The taking by Koontz is also great. I really liked The Outsider...I love SK's newer stuff. I think it is more cerebral. Great video!
I enjoyed Swan Song more than The Stand. Both great in their own way though.
Robert McCammon is a much better writer than King.
Hi Jimmy; great video as always. I haven't read Swan Song yet, though I've purchased it. I have, however, read Justin Cronin's "Passage" trilogy, and LOVED it. Actually, much more than The Stand. Have you read it? Some people seem to find him overly 'literary,' but I found all three novels to be totally captivating.
I just finished Billy Summers last night, it was my first Stephen King book and I am SO glad I read it. I think it might be one of my favorite books I have ever read. Def top 3 for me for sure. Curious if you have read it yet? I plan on reading more SK based on your other ranking video of his books. Thanks!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 cheers from Brazil!
A comparison to Salem's Lot..........I'm reading "They Thirst" by Robert McCammon which is another vampire novel about evil vampires not the sulking, depressed teen vamps of modern day theatre. Set in a seedy, neon-drenched Los Angeles in the 1980s it has all the elements of horror that you will love Jimmy!
So many people have recommended The Summer of Night! I absolutely need to read it (as well as Carrion Comfort or any Dan Simmons for that matter). And when I first read Swan Song in '87 I was sure McCammon was a Stephen King pseudonym. I made a video Five (5) Authors you need to read if you love Stephen King because so many people get stuck on King. Also Tommyknockers is one of my favorite King reads. Great video!
Homie I’d adding to my already extensive TBR list. 😂😂😂 I’m not mad about it
Based on your bookshelf, I have deduced that you are a fan of Stephen King. Good video!
Speaking of the Outsider, are you looking forward to Holly coming out later this year? I know I am! I loved Holly as a character!
These are good recs, and some of them I haven't read, so I'd be curious try them. Like Laymon, I haven't read anything by him yet.
Another good book similar to The Stand would be from his son, Joe Hill -- The Fireman. Some folks liked it, some didn't. Some say that it borrowed too much from The Stand. But I thought it was such a great read, and even with a few obvious nods to The Stand, it's its own book.
Btw, I'm a huge Dan Simmons fan, and both those examples were probably my favorites of his
Greetings from Spain!!
I read IT the week part 1 of the new movies released, then went to watch the movie. Neither disappointed.
Hey man
Great video btw
I would also add that if you’re a huge fan SK, you will love Ronald Malfi’s books.
Some books I would recommend are
Come With Me
Black Mouth(Malfi’s version of IT but with a Magician rather than a clown)
Little Girls
Ghostwritten(A collection of four novellas)
Bone White
December Park(kind of Stand by Me/The Body inspired but even better IMO
The Narrows(if you like vampire-esque stories without vampires but original monsters)
Floating Staircase
Ronald Malfi has been coming up a lot in these comments. I am definitely going to check him out. Thanks for the list!
Great recommendations! I really enjoyed Swan Song, Summer of Night, Carrion Comfort and Chasing the Boogeyman. I've had The Taking for years, but haven't read it yet! The only Laymon I have read is The Cellar, which I didn't like. One I read recently that reminded me a lot of King was A Child Alone with Strangers by Philip Fracassi, and also Ronald Malfi.
I got one by Stephen King The Dark Half. If you enjoyed that one. Try The Nightmare Man by J.H. Market.
IT is my all time favourite. End of. Though I did enjoy Summer of Night & the sequel A Winter Haunting. I’ve not read any of your other King similars, just the Kings though Chasing the Boogeyman has been on my radar for some months now😎👍🏻
What are the book trio with the creepy smiley face in the background?
Love The Stand. It's one of fave of his.
I love The Taking. It's one of my favourite Koontz books, along with Winter Moon.
Great video. I was completely engaged. I totally forgot to write down your recs. I'm gonna have to rewatch this at some point to note them down. They all sound like good reads.
The answer to for initial question is “The Mr. Mercedes Trilogy”
Thanks!
The Outsider probably would've been top-10 SK for me if he hadn't botched the final act so badly. But still it was amazing. And I actually think Tommyknockers is kind of underrated. I know a lot of ppl hate it and I think it's the only SK novel that's actually too long, but it's pretty entertaining.
For a comparison of my own, if you liked The Husband by Dean Koontz, check out "The Chain" by Adrian McKinty. I actually thought it would've been way better if Koontz had written it. Lmao
I appreciate the recommendation. I did enjoy The Husband!
Would've been funny if the whole list was: if you like stephen king you'll love this richard Bachman guy 😂
Also Ghost Story by Peter Straub! Amazing book, I read it twice, and it's very close to King's style
Loved Ghost Story!!
Gotta recommend “December Park” by Ronald Malfi. One of my favorite books and an author I immediately recommend to King fans looking for another like him. He’s not quite as supernatural but his ability to write deep characters and especially kids is very King-esque
Awesome! Sounds great. I will certainly check that out!
Yes! I am reading Black Mouth by Ronald Malfi right now and it has an IT vibe.
Thank you for the recommendation! I was looking for a new book to read on my phone. Libby didn't have December Park but they had others of his so I borrowed Floating Staircase. I look forward to it.
December Park is an absolute screamer of a book!
Last year I read Little Girls by Ronald Malfi and really enjoyed it!
I fell in love with Swan Song and I'm currently reading The Terror by Dan Simmons. Any suggestions to a similar book that?
The Terror was unbelievable! A similar book that King wrote I don’t. But if you enjoy that try The Abominable by Simmons as well. It’s got the same feel for sure.
Currently reading "They thirst" by Robert McCammon!
@MJ-vo8hq I just finished Mine by Robert McCammon and it was a fast paced thrill ride.
@jimmymango thank you very much. I'll add that to my tbr.
I really enjoyed Joyland. It felt like comfort food. Spoiler Alert --> Here's some exposition, here's a bit of a mystery, I wonder if this person did it...Nope! And done.
Did you like sleepwalkers
all booktubers have few watchers and subscribes, that's unfair. 😢😢😢
Can you review my books?
Aren’t Laymon and King the same person?
No
You are probably thinking Richard Bachman
@@jimmymango your right…getting old…lol
Like your video, wonder if you're interested in trying our man's grooming products
I enjoyed the Stand but it's massively overrated.
Hey Jimmy! What is your business email?
Jimmy.mango19@gmail.com
Tommyknockers fun here \o thanks
This is a great video. Thanks for all these suggestions ! 🎉
