      My biggest issue is anxiety. If I'm feeling anxious and can't sleep I go for a (speed) walk and typically that works.

      Hypothyroidism runs in my family. I’m noticing fatigue, edginess, weight gain, and hair loss, all of which point to possible hypothyroidism. I’m getting tested soon to see if my hunch is correct and hopefully fix it.

    Great video girlie! One more thing that might have people feeling fatigued is sinus infections smh. I can always tell when I'm about to get one because a few weeks before it happens I get so fatigued that I'm fighting to stay awake during the day. No matter how early I go to bed I'm still extremely exhausted. I'm going through it now. I'm looking forward to the next video...

    My teenage daughter was recently diagnosed with narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is so different than what I thought it was. It has a variety of symptoms and is often undiagnosed. I highly recommend doing some research on it and talk to a sleep specialist if you try these ideas from Alyssia and they just don't work. My daughter would not have been diagnosed if she didn't also develop a delayed sleep phase syndrome I was concerned about. Narcolepsy can also be misdiagnosed as depression.

    • @christinab.2864
      @christinab.2864 5 років тому +1

      There’s a documentary about narcolepsy it’s from the uk and it’s really sad. It’s so dangerous they will fall asleep not even know it. One of them is a child so maybe not so dangerous but there are two other adults lucky one of the adults can sense the tiredness combing up so she sets good thing but the man it just hits him he’ll be standing so he falls so he could walking up and down the stairs or in the shower and falls wrose yet lucky not in this video but can imagine asleep like this while driving. You can watch it on UA-cam.

    I found out last year that I was tired all the time because I was severely iron-deficient anemic, which was being caused by Celiac. I had other symptoms of the issue as well, but fatigue from food intolerance is no joke! I've been GF for a year now and I cannot believe how much my life has improved, and because the pain and exhaustion is finally gone I don't really even miss wheat products.
    (also @ 2:26 I lol'd)

    I’m tired 24/7 and I have multiple health issues (hypothyroid, anemia, celiac, hypoglycemia, depression) that contribute although I am sure I would also benefit from diet changes. It’s such a tricky thing cuz a lot of the time I use sugar and caffeine to function when it’s probably making it worse long term.

    I don't think sleep apnea was mentioned in the medical conditions that can affect sleep at the end of the video but that is an important one that could be causing fatigue. Also something worth talking to your doctor about. Lots of great points in the video.

    My dietician as well as my oncologist told me many people are fatigued because they are dehydrated. In my case my fatigue and tiredness is due to cancer but even increasing my water intake did help me feel less tired. Also, vitamin d deficiency is very common and a reason for constant tiredness.

    I have a very active job with lots of speedwalking and heavy lifting and by the time I get home I can barely keep my eyes open! But before I can sleep I have to eat dinner and do any chores like folding laundry or cleaning.
    By the time I'm done with everything and spent a bit of time with my fiance it's super late and I'm lucky if I have 7 hours til my alarm goes off. And I ALWAYS wake up several times throughout the night :c

    Three things that made me feel less tired: Waking up 2 hours before I have to leave the house for work. Eat a good breakfast (Oats with agave, banana, nut butter, and cinnamon has been my go-to), and taking vitamin D3 (I live in Canada so don't get much sun for half the year), and iron supplements (I have always had low iron stores, even before going vegan... my iron has never been better than it is now), as well as B12. That all working together has been really helping. I have time to wake up, and I have the vitamins I need for my blood etc... and I even feel tired at the right time and go to bed at the right time now NATURALLY.

    So sleep time can be made up only if it's recently!
    So several years back when I still watched him Dr. Oz said you can't makeup for sleep time lost. I knew he wasn't right because sometimes I would count the number of hours I slept and it would turn out my nap naturally made up for those hours (more or less).

    My sleep quality suffers when I try to go to sleep too early and I'll wake in an hour or two. When I follow my night owl tendencies I will sleep until I met my basal sleep need of nine hours. I'm pretty sure I have hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's since I've had symptoms of it like a goiter on my neck. My sister is diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and Grave's Disease.

Start feeling tired at 1:30 pm two 8oz chocolate milk just to make it to the afternoon nap at 3:30 to 5pm and still tired at 7pm until bedtime 9pm. My good hour if I’m lucky 8am-1:30pm.

      But now days it’s been five years back than I can and will fell asleep before my head hits the pillow but not anymore. My childhood before I started school (I broke my arm at 7 so I had to be homeschooled) I thought that I outgrew that problem I guess not. I can’t get to sleep without some sleep aide or a med that has side effects of sleeping more and with than some days it’s still not cutting it. Thanks to respidone awful med. Boredom at night is hell. Maybe so this video can get me to sleep like before.

    Sleeping too much can also lead to fatigue. It's not recommended to sleep for more than 8 hours.

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  5 років тому +1

      That's true, but we all have a different sleep cycle so the exact amount of hours will vary per person. Still, in this day and age, more people are at risk for too little sleep than too much, but it's good to be aware.

    What do I do if I struggle with getting enough sleep? I find it so difficult especially with school. I often stay up late doing work and can’t get enough sleep. I probably average around 4 hours a night and this has been a problem I’ve had for about 5 years

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  5 років тому +1

      I used to struggle with this too. I used to try to convince myself I could live off of 4-5 hours a night and did for years. Last year I decided to prioritize sleep and just set an intention to aim for 8 hours. I didn't always hit it, but I tried. I decided I wouldn't exercise if I couldn't get my sleep in first, and just made a really conscious effort to put it first. It changed my life! I know it's a tough transition because it feels like there's no time, but the truth is the time is never going to come. We just have to decide it's more important. For me, I found I was getting more done and feeling more creative once I finally got some sleep. Of course, there's only so much you can do in school. My advice to my younger college-self: don't stress so much-especially about what won't matter later anyway!

      Byron Chandler, try lightly steaming, instead. You'll not lose the nutrients & the taste is amazing! Take a bite before you even add Sea Salt or Pink Himalayan Crystal Salt (table salt is toxic & interferes with the absorption of the iodine we desperately need). No more swelling without table salt, either.
      I've switched from dairy to coconut oil, Pure, Unrefined, Cold Pressed, 100% Organic (Carrington's 54oz less than $20), instead of butter, mayo & creamer!
      My energy is up & I have lost 12 lbs in 6 months. Not much, to many, but it was effortless & I was only 30 lbs overweight.
      The taste alone, is worth these switches & the health benefits are grand!
