    • @Ducttaper4JC2

      I know some salads are unhealthy on their own. But I will also say that personally... I don't feel bad adding a tablespoon or two of ranch dressing to my salad. (And I'm not talking about the fat free gross-ness!) Because at the end of the day, I wouldn't eat the salad and get all the good nutrients from it otherwise, so salad dressing is one of the things I don't feel guilty "splurging" on if the rest of the salad is healthy ingredients.

    The Raisin Bran comparison really surprised me. I think the more we can stick with foods cooked from scratch the better off we'll be. Although I realize that's not always an option in today's busy world. Maybe it just comes down to balance. Thanks for all the hard work and research that you do for us Alyssia:)

    • @ashleystanley7941
      @ashleystanley7941 5 років тому

      I completely agree! But even if someone doesn't have time to make foods from scratch, they can get less sugar by buying bran flakes and adding raisins or whatever fresh fruit they want. At least then there isn't a bunch of sugar coating the raisins or fruit.

    Great video! I wanted to share another fact that people don’t commonly know. I worked in a bubble tea shop in college, and we offered many of the same drinks in a hot and cold version. The recipes were almost the same, but the cold drinks always had more sweetener added. That’s because our taste buds perceive cold foods as less sweet than room temperature. So, cold drinks and foods are designed to be sweeter in order to be perceived as the same level of sweetness. Another way sugar is hiding in your food!

      Thank you!! I know it's a struggle... the industry wants us to be confused! The best thing we can do is keep learning

    Love it! We did some comparisons and discovered a chips ahoy cookie has less sugar than 1tbsp of ketchup!

    Another great video!! Please do more of these videos!!! Awesome content!! Lately, I've been reading labels every time I go shopping and it's crazy what you find! It almost seems like it should be illegal how much sugar these companies sneak into products! I was looking at some chicken the other day and it had a lot of sugar in it. Like why in the world do you need to add sugar to chicken? 🤦‍♀️ The vitamin water doughnut comparison blew my mind!! 😳I'll take the doughnut please🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

      thank you so much! you are so right! It's really disappointing... we can't expect these companies that are trying to make money to have our best interests in mind. We need to make the decision to be mindful and aware on our own :)
