His fellow hosts shouldn't try and soften his approach, he has been doing this long enough to know just the right amount of disrespect, disappointment and crushing logic to apply. Nah, depending on the medical problem, there could be 2-3 significantly different, but perfectly reasonable recommendations. So in his example of 25 different dentists all giving different advice, it could "only" be 22-23 people who are frauds...

Long before the twentieth dentist I'd have gone to Doctor - even a witch doctor would have given a bit of perspective. ALSO I might have driven past a dentist school or two to make sure they weren't burnt to the ground. 😂
Here's the problem with this caller's statement. You don't have 20 dentists with 2 different theories. You have 1 million scientists with one theory, and maybe 19 with 19 different theories.
This isn't 5% and 5% and 5% and so on for each theory. There is like 99.98% and 0.01% and 0.001% and 0.004% and so forth.
I love how Aron cuts straight to it. So tired of callers bullshit, and i’m glad aron challenges them instead of babying them. Some people need a shaking out of it. Aron doesn’t allow the caller to set the terms as they are use to doing to all their other (captive) audiences

I think Aron can have great moments but he often seems to miss the point the caller is asking about. In this episode alone Seth had to correct Aron a few times on what the caller was asking.

Theists don't get that the certainty of their "faith" is nothing like the "uncertainty" of the scientific model. The "uncertainty" of science is it's greatest strength, not a weakness.
When you believe without evidence, the existence of contrary evidence is a threat.

Here in the US we don't care much about pedestrians. We even have a completely road legal gigantic chunk of unpainted steel in a wedge shape masquerading as a truck that appears to be designed to ensure pedestrians do not survive an impact.

The combination of Aron and Seth is a winner and needs to be repeated. They have different approaches but compliment each other so well, it makes for a very watchable show!

Jeff, I mean this genuinely because every single time you've called in I've perceived you to be both genuine and honest...you're making an equivocation. Faith in the christian sense (Hebrews 11:1) is not the same thing as the colloquial usage of the word faith, which is what you're referring to in this call. One is essentially a placeholder for evidence and the other is a synonym for trust and is almost always based on prior information, precedent, and/or confidence based on lived experience.
To Seth's words at the end, the mere fact that someone gave birth to you doesn't give them ownership over your entire life.
At 141:50, Aron gave a beautiful and articulate answer. Well done, mate!
Amir did what nearly _every_ argument for a god does. Claim standard 1, that things need an explanation, and the explanation needs an explanation, and the explanation for the explanation needs an explanation ... reach back to an imagined magical being for which there is no evidence ... and _now_ that you got there; throw away standard 1 and accept standard 2, that things can’t go on forever and ever, so now we have to stop and rather accept that things can and do happen for no reason with no cause.
He is a really frequent caller, under different names, but the same tired old nonsense.

At about the 28:00 minute mark, I was glad to see Seth push back on Aron Ra that telling Jeff - PA why he believes is not a good approach. Let's leave the arrogance of telling someone what they believe or why they believe it to the theists.

I like many of the Atheist-come-lately young turk hosts and hostesses, but veteran unbelievers Aron and Seth are a team supreme. Expressing their obviously expansive range of actual factual info, they're so amiably relaxed ( until righteously pissed off ) and relatively patient, offering sympathetic support and advice to the perplexed, right up to the moment they are, by rudeness, repetition, or downright denseness, forced to lay down the law ( usually a scientific one ). They are a delightful anti-deist duo. And I do like those moments when these guys crack each other up.
They are entertaining, and I like the content as much as anyone, but I see a lot of the same sort of in-group defense mechanisms in this community as I did in the fundamentalist religion of my family. It is disappointing to see groupthink here even though it is just a reflection of human nature.
Goodness is the opposite of badness. The how that we feel goodness is through good, which is the opposite of badness that we feel when there's bad. That should be your reality Jeff.

Seth’s has the classic ‘velvet’ radio voice. Perfect and soothing for listening. He worked in radio and has both quality and learned skill. If people have never heard that sort of voice they might be surprised but to compare that to a robotic AI voice that can’t get nuance or proper nouns right they need to train their ears better.

If you look at the comments like other times you've called, here's another way to look at why your name example is faith doesn't work:
- I have no knowledge of your name until you tell me
- Once you tell me your name is Jeff, then I do have that knowledge
- Prior to you telling me your name, "I don't know" is the only honest position I can take
Do you see how that so perfectly aligns with the atheist position?
Also, the moment that a person refers to him as "Jeff" and he responds, the claim "Jeff is his name" is demonstrably correct.
Someone's name is also a pretty bad analogy to begin with, unless we agree on "it's the word that's on any official documents with my picture on them". Because _all_ other "names" are purely subjective for that person, whether they react to it, whether they identify with it, whether they lie about it, whether it's a nickname, ... - it's _all_ up to that person, unverifiable for everyone else (I guess there might be some neuro-imaging stuff that would help with verification, but I don't think that'd be within the scope of any of this).

Regarding Aron's point of doing good because you're afraid of what will happen if you don't doesn't make you moral. Mark Twain said something about patriotism that stuck with me, because I think it also applies to religion. "We teach them to take their patriotism at second-hand; to shout with the largest crowd without examining into the right or wrong of the matter". I think it's an aspect all on its own that theists don't just have merely the threat of Hell over them to keep them from determining any real sense of morality, they also never question it. They never look at why something is right or wrong and as a consequence we get this neverending parade of ignorance struggling to understand the same damn thing. It's alien to them.

Glad Seth was there to push back on Aron a bit. On a show about what you believe and why, I don’t find it productive at the start of a call to just proclaim “you don’t have any evidence.” I don’t find that a very honest way to engage with someone.
Yeah, while I completely understand Aron's reaction, even find it rather cathartic, I agree. And Seth wasn't _overindulging_ the caller(s) either (unlike some other "YT atheists").

Perhaps we need a web site with a list of the most common apologetic arguments and their rebuttals, then require those who call to either show how the rebuttals don't work, and/or a new argument.

I really don't understand people who are talkative on Facebook, but when they have the opportunity to call and defend their positions, they hide! If I didn't live almost on the other side of the planet and didn't sleep when the broadcast was live, I would constantly call and to talk to Aron,Seth,Matt,Forrest and all my other favorite hosts on these shows ❤️
I'm not particularly good when it comes to on-the-spot responses, the more "deep" or nuanced a question or topic, the more quiet time I need to think about (and possibly look into) it. Some people are really good with on-the-spot-thinking like that, and all the more power to them, but I'm not, have never been, have _tried_ to practice it, have never done any better. I'm perfectly fine in normal, friendly conversations, but when it comes to confrontations of _any_ kind, even friendly ones, my "performance" just sucks.
When I _do_ have some quiet time to think about it, work on at least halfway decent formulations, can write my thoughts down and even edit them before the other person gets to read them, I do much better.
I'll spot fallacies, nuance, problematic formulations, loaded terms, ... easily when I have a bit of time - but I'd bet a paycheck that a lot of "simple" street preachers, let alone anyone like the usual "YT apologists", could run over me in a direct conversation. Once tha conversation was over and I had time to think about it again, I would see the faults - but not during.
So as much as I like exchanging comments with theists here for example (and would certainly do just that on Facebook as well if I didn't despise that abusive, harmful bulls**t of a "social media" corporation as much I do), I would absolutely _not_ call in to an apologetics show with a format like this.
Chaos seems to mean order that we lack the analytics to map perfectly.
