Massive thanks. I dropped my bike recently and plan on removing the right side fairing to take to a body shop for them to (hopefully) sort the scratches out. This vid really boosts the confidence in tackling my task.

just so everyone knows, you don't need to remove the gauge cluster/windshield and all that to remove the side fairings though you may need to unscrew all of the screws that hold in the black wing fairing pieces so that you can pull them up enough to allow you to remove the side fairings. you also do not need to unplug the turn indicators before removing the side fairings, you can get them off and unplug them after, the wires are plenty long enough
I had made a comment in regards to that a little while back. But the manual has you go through the whole process. Figured I'd lump it all in. Also it being my first bike, I tried to follow the service manual to the letter initially. Now i cut all kinds of corners though lol.

How do you find the sound of the kawasaki? It's a great bike but just feel let down by the sound after riding sv,s.
where you take the tachometer cluster and there's those plastic things that you pop it off of ,not the snap ins,. how do you get it to go back on and feed them back through?!
+Riding With MG if you are referring to those rubber grommet looking things, I pull them up through the plastic with pliers. Not sure if that's the best method but it has always worked for me. Hope that helps!
They suck those things. I tried keeping the bolt on and pulling on it with pliers to get it through and was still a mission. I ended up breaking the plastic piece of the fairing that the rubber stopper goes through.
Thanks for some tips. I am about to tear my front end off my 2012 Ninja 650r for an HID projector project and wondered where a few spots I may be missing were. My question though has nothing to do with the removal or the frame sliders. Go back to around the 14 minute mark. There you will see where you mounted your ballast and said you should have mounted them up and in because that is where you mounted your other bike ballasts. As I was noticing though, isn't the spot I think you pointed out an air inlet? I don't know if I want to mount the ballasts in that area. I may chose to go on the outer fairing but inside with the molex connectors easily accessible for disconnect.
Thomas Hoff On one side you can place the ballast below the air intake on the frame. On the other(left side) there is already something in place. I actually recently had to replace my left side ballast for a warranty issue and ended up placing it above the headlight assembly. Fits well and have had no issues.
Out4aRip Thanks. On the front screen brackets on my 2012 I had to remove them because I was lazy in having to work a smaller length socket in. Also, I found two screws on mine by the two bolts you show. They were attached through the front frame assembly into the cluster. Clears removal my oven only does 260 on its lowest so I did five minutes in the oven and one clear separated then ran the assembly in the oven again for a couple minutes and the other clear came off. Had to work it a little because they used a sealant putty. I thought it would be glue and as most have been saying. The putty is easier to work with and I can replace it with a plumber putty. Now I just am waiting for my projectors to arrive. While I do that I will search for an install. Thanks again.
Thomas Hoff I was initially going to go with those halo projectors but ended up cheaping out and just going with the bulbs+ballasts. Let me know how it turns out and post some pics if you can. Did you add a switch for the halo or did you just do a standard install?

can you make a video on removing front tire and changing the wheel? I got into an accident and ran into someones rear driver quaterpanel and the wheel got cut up. its not safe to ride... i was still learning how to ride when it happened. now im buying parts from everywhere and i wanna learn how to fix it. Please!
owned2hell Glad you're not injured at least! I have yet to change a tire myself. there is a place not to far off that charges 30$ per tire so i just rolled up left him my bike and rolled out when he was done lol. I would have it done by an authorized mechanic as you may have other issues that may not be apparent to you. owned2hell I've checked out a few videos on fixing dents in a tank. one method involves using a bar bent a specific way to reach in through the cap and push out the dents from the inside. The other vids involved either welding on or glueing on puller pins and then using vice grips to pull the dents out. Neither looks like fun lol. You should upload some pics or a vid of the damage. Good luck though Hope you get back out on the road soon!
Hi, do you have any ideas where to mount auxiliary light for this bike? Frame slider is too low for me. I'm thinking of mounting a flood light right below the headlight but i dont know where to mount the brackets. Btw, your videos really help me out in maintaining my bike. Thumbs up!
Thank you sir. And to be honest, i'm not sure where you could mount them. Forks would be too bouncy. Probably need to custom build a bracket and drill through the plastic under the headlights to mount on metal and route wires. Let me know though what you end up doing. I'd be curious to see the results.

Hey Alex, You can just reuse the ones you removed. I only bought extra because I have a tendency to drop/lose/break them(after I drop and step on them). I always recommend keeping some on the side.
I basically sacrificed my ability to flash the high beam when i did it. I would recommend going with LED lights instead. I always ran with both high and low on at the same time during the day either way. But yeah, long story short, I don't recommend HIDs on the bike.
Nice video mate, thanks a lot. Are those quick rivet packs ninja 650 specific or just Kawasaki? I need to get some of the 6mm and 8mm ones and 2 big ones are missing from the bottom of the fairing...Are they 8mm or 10mm?
I believe that they are 8MM based on this: www.partzilla.com/catalog/kawasaki/motorcycle/2014/ninja-650-abs-ex650fef/cowling-lowers-fds-fff. Bolt makes universal rivet packs. they aren't perfect fitment wise if i recall. But better than nothing if in a pinch.

What do i search for when looking for the fairing screws? Not the pins or bolts but the actual screws. I was already missing one apparently

I need to replace my R/H mirror, do I need to buy replacement quick rivets for the front or can I reuse the ones you pop with an Allen key?

I'm not sure to be honest. The frame may have different mounting points and i've never worked on that gen 650.
