I mean a top speed of 135mph stock is nothing to snooze on and I heard you can “unlock” it if you get the ecu flashed or whatever they call it when they reprogram it so you can access 100% of all the power and specs and with the right exhaust you can get up to the 140s mph or even 150s if you do some upgrades to the engine. That’s why I bought it as my first bike once I’m ready for more there’s so many options I can leave it stock and just keep it as a travel/commuter bike and buy a super sport as a 2nd bike or I can upgrade it and make it my own super sport thats able to keep up with the 600cc bikes
Just got a new fairing kit for my 2012 650 and super excited to get it back on the road. I’ve owned it for about 4 years and almost sold twice and couldn’t let her go. You are absolutely correct. I knew I wasn’t crazy when I thought this bike was all around a blast to ride.
My ninja 650 has been my daily for the last two years. Set up for commuting with saddle and tail bags. It's an excellent all around bike. Very forgiving if you forget to downshift, comfort is good, nimble enough for city streets and more than enough power for the highways ... the abs brakes are a godsend... I would certainly buy another one!
@@jeffrey7160 I heard here in Cali that many people just get thier moto permit and just use that for a long time. The only restrictions you have with a permit was - no passengers, no night riding.
My first bike was a R6, and after owning a couple of 1000's, I still miss my R6 the most. Even my friends that ride missiles for bikes, miss their 600's the most. Even though I live near the unlimited autobahn, going 200+ km/h is fun for a couple of times, but as side from that, I never reach those kind of speeds. You can't do it anywhere else anyway. 600's are more then enough. I know a lot of people that are perfectly fine with their 250's even. My local dealer has the new 650 anniversary edition for sale in the retro black and red, so I'm probably going to pick that up tomorrow.
Finally! I’ve been looking for a video to confirm if this is a sports tourer! I want that super sport look, but with the upright position of a naked. And you’ve confirmed it! Time to get my big boy license and get one! Thanks!

Great video!!! I am thinking of getting a 2024 ninja 650 for highway commuting (75 to 85mph) for at least an hour. So, according to the vid, this 650 can do that, right? I never had a 650cc bike before. Someone please let me know...
I got a 2012 ninja 650 I take it from NY to Pa once a week and pin it at 100mph for a good 30min sometimes…..I had it up to 128mph for 10min straight. It just eats gas fast when having it that high mph for that long but it not only handles it, but handles it well
I commute 2.5 hours once a month but also take mine everywhere. Most I’ve done is 5 hours with 2 gas breaks and comfort is definitely there for commute status. Went on a 3 hour ride with my friend who had a super sport and our first fill up he was complaining about his back and I said uuuuh, my back is fine! I knew I was going to use it as a commuter though. Otherwise I would have gotten a super sport.
I used to own a ninja 300 around 6 years ago...now I'm torn between the 650 and the 500 se , price is almost the same and I already have some experience, going to the 500 feels like going to the same bike I used to have, but since I have a bit more experience despite not being riding for a few years..Would the 650 be a good choice over the 500?
I've got the same generation and color. I love the bike. I've got 36k miles on it, I'm considering buying a ZX-6R for something new and a bit different. Still keeping the 650, though.
Currently own a 22 klr and looking for something smaller lighter and easier to ride to add to the stable. Considering a 500 and 650, any thoughts? Also how is the power and torque compared to the klr? I know they’re totally different bikes but That’s all I have to compare anything to as the klr is my first and only bike

I found one he said the engine is seized but he has the new engine for it. Would it be hard to engine swap it myself. If so how much do you think it would be? Need it as a daily. Any advice?
if u need a bike to be a reliable daily rider I would avoid anything that needs any serious mechanical work. price wise if u did all the work yourself I don't think it would cost more than a few hundred dollars for any tools you don't own to get the job done. but again id just do more shopping and find a good running used bike in your price range
