When adjusting EG or LFO intensity with the slider, moving the slider right of centre increases positive intensity, and moving the slider left of centre increases the intensity of the inverted signal (same as holding down SHIFT when adjusting the LFO or EG intensity knobs). I got my (red!) Monologue two weeks ago and I've since printed and read the manual, but this set of awesome videos goes lightyears beyond what I would've learnt from just that. It's such a fantastic multi-faceted machine. Very curious about the audio in, which I haven't played with yet. Either way, can't thank you enough for this in-depth look at my new gear!

After watching this video, I tried assigning the slider to various things, which is super cool, but I'm wondering if there is some setting I am missing. The slider on my Monologue seems to randomly switch between "returning to zero" when I let it go back to the middle, and having the parameter remain "modulated" until I push the slider in the other direction to manually adjust the sound towards the other side, making it basically impossible to return the sound to it's original spot. It kind of kills the usefulness of the slider, since I can't do any sort of smooth modulation, vibrator, filter sweeps, etc. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks a lot for your detailed videos! I think you can choose a better camera angle (this is a bit un unconfortable and i think the sequencer lights problem is partially related to this. I think parallel to the knobs edge will be a good option.) Cheers from Argentina!
Oh Lordy Lordy. Marc...have you any idea just how much money your videos have cost me over the last 2 years? well not all that much to be fair... I had to buy all the volcas and now I'm going to have to buy this. I'm glad it's quite cheap, indeed for what you get Korg are practically giving them away!
Question came to mind, to which my brain does not seem to get an straight answer from the users manual. When connected the Monologue from the MIDI out to a slave device, can I control the Monologue's features at the same time with the slave devices features, or does the Monologue transform only to an MIDI controller? Following question is that does the Monologue allow the so called chord play mode, like for example the Arturia Keystep does?
Excellent video reviews! Really helpfull. Haven't watched all yet, but do you also discuss the external audio in somewhere? I'd maybe like to hook up another synth over midi and the route its audio back into the monologue for instance. Only, where does one control the level of the external audio volume in the mixer section for instance (unless on the external device itself)?

Hello again :) Sorry to bother you with that...but I have a few questions : if I wanna sequence external synth with the monologue sequencer, does it transmitt steps that are desactivated on the monologue ? does it transmit glide by sending overlapping note or does it transmit a portamento CC ? If a step in the sequence has an automation of + 3 octave on the note of VC02, does it transmitt the resulting note or the original note ? Sorry to ask all this but I cannot find any answer, I read the midi chart of the monologue but I'm not sure ; it's quitte important for me to know that, thanks a lot if you could answer any of this questions :) cheers from france :)
Just connect your guitar to the audio in jack. Turn down both oscs, play record a key, held down, loop that then play guitar. Adjust drive, play with filter/lfos
I know each synth is just supposed to be it's own thing, and all of us always want some feature or another that an affordable synth like this will not have, but I really wish this had a separate release portion on the envelope. It is the only thing that makes me know I would get frustrated or bored with it because I love being able to use sharp decays and longer releases. I've had other synths with this type of envelope, and I inevitably lose interest in them after a while. For the price though I still might consider getting it. It does have a lot of potential, and I can always use the other synths I have for those particular sounds.

I LOVE THIS SYNTH. I bought it when I knew literally nothing about synths just a few months ago and I’ve learned so much in a short time. Can’t wait to buy my first poly. Anyone have suggestions? I was thinking the argon 8... I’d like a Korg prologue but I think the argon 8 with a big keyboard to control it with is the move for a broke boy like me.

YOU are a LIAR, Dumb Jason! I MENTIONED it. I just didn't DEMONSTRATE it. :D Primarily because those sorts of tuning sound the same no matter what they are applied to. If you want a unique temperament, you know what a unique temperament sounds like.

At 16:55 you crank up the LFO so far the synth lets off a little puff of smoke!

Agree, and you can easily SYNC the Monologue with all of the Volcas ... they work together great.
Maybe left slider reverses the LFO? Try it with saw.

LFO+shape+wheel on LFO rate = fuunnnnnnn without being too crazy

These are so cheap, been thinking of getting two and playing one through the other for a 4 Osc sort of monster lol
