    Korg monologue shares its sleek layout, knob-per-function workflow and OLED oscilloscope with the minilogue and inherits its fast and 1-shot LFOs from the monotribe. monologue features new voicing and sound-sculpting abilities, an updated step sequencer and an all new microtuning feature with custom scales and presets by Aphex Twin. Truly portable, monologue runs on six AA batteries or an optional power adapter.

    Not only was this one of the greatest overviews of the Korg Monologue - balanced with explanations and relevant audio samples (which didn't make me turn down the volume every time the synth was on) - but also possibly the best reference for what microtuning is - contained historical context and specifics on how it is applied in this synthesizer whithout waffling or oversimplifying - thank you John from Kraft Music 😃👍
    As an owner of the Monologue to anyone watching this in the future considering a purchase and wondering if the should, the answer is YES. Sonically and feature wise it delivers way above its price bracket, and the moment you stop looking at the keyboard and start listening to its output, minikeys won't matter if that's what bothers you.

    There is one great feature that really convinced me to buy one, especially for live performance. In the step sequencer, it is possible to turn off motion sequencing per step, while the motion seq data is retained for that step. This means for each note/step, you can switch between two sounds, one without motion seq, one with it.

    If I didn't already have a Monologue on the way, this overview would have convinced me. Nicely done.

      Yeah that was pretty impressive. Unexpected. Even without it this keyboard is a lot of bang for the buck. You get a lot for $300. Love the sequencer options.

    Astonishing review, we can sure have a greater and deeper knowledge on the Monologue this way!
    Thank you for putting up such good work on schematically addressing the possibilities this monosynth can accomplish.
    This machine is growing inside me, I'll probably be getting into the synth world through Monologue.

    oh man, so i have a friend whos been all into synth stuff for a long time, i asked to borrow his monologue as my first experimentation with a synthesizer ever and i gotta say, im in love. definitely going to buy one, but more importantly, this video helped so much. you went into so much detail about every little feature of it that i didnt quite understand yet. i particularly loved the part about the sequencer since there so much to learn that you cant just figure out through experimentation with it.
    i think im gonna watch this video again tomorrow to pick up everything i missed, thanks a ton! saved me a ton of trouble with my first synth!

Before Korg i looked at a few Roland products. Glad i got the Korg instead! The Sequncer sold me on this little power house!

    John, an excellent review of this new offering from Korg; nice logical progression covering major facilities that this unit provides. Also good in highlighting similarities with mono tribe and Minilogue. Bit of a disaster that the machine doesn't come with a power pack but rechargeable batteries are also good, less wires. Cheers

    • @SomeOne-pd6vm
      @SomeOne-pd6vm 2 роки тому

      I know I'm more than a year late, but you can link them with a MIDI cable. I do this with my Minilogue XD and Mother 32, sending MIDI out from the Minilogue XD and into the Mother 32, so the M32 functions as a sort of bass synth below by Minilogue XD (:

    Can you pretty much get the same sounds, variations, etc. using a Korg Microkorg? And how can you get all the keyboard (key) sounds when there are much less keys on this unit, Vs a full size musical keyboard?? Lastly which came out Later...this unit or the Microkorg?

    • @krsTBedfordStudios
      @krsTBedfordStudios 5 років тому

      Not exactly the same sounds no... this is an analogue synth, the MicroKorg is a virtual analogue machine with a similar synth engine to the MS-2000. You would get a more matched sound for the Monologue from a Monotribe, just a lot less of it..!
      The Monologue was released in 2017, where as the Microkorg was 2002..
      This tells you just how amazing and versatile the Microkorg is though to still be in use today after a production run lasting 17 years and still counting...!!

    • @krsTBedfordStudios
      @krsTBedfordStudios 5 років тому +1

      You can still get a full range of notes by changing the octave, number of keys is largely unimportant. Especially on a monophonic synth which couldnt be used for chords etc...
