One of the coolest things about these videos is how much you can learn about synthesis by watching them even if you will never touch the synthesizer being demonstrated.
I really enjoy your videos Marc. Its been said before but it is really a learning experience. Btw I also need to do a video on polyphony advocating "your" definitions.
Thanks Marc for your video series. I created also some videos about the Monologue and it's awesome that you can step modulate pretty everything on this synth. The envelopes looks just standard envelopes but I have created so crazy sounds with the envelope to the Pitch 2 :)
Tremendous content. This synth is deff an instant classic, redefining the current scene, and looking to the future. Definetlly a tremendous design by Tatsuya Takahashi. Amazing sound pallete, great joy to play and design sounds with.
Wow you are another Gem finding like Oscillator Sink..... I have never been so sold on a product. Iam just trying to set up ordering one amidst the current world crisis. I have always been a big EDM fan, starting with the likes of Jean-Micheal Jarre & Paul Hardcastle, through to early American house to 808 state etc. I have owned decks for mixing but never a keyboard or synthesiser, so this will be my first, & let me tell you I have never been this excited about purchasing anything. A tremendously big thanks for all your amazing content.
"oh my god, clicks!!" I love that :D anyway, thanks a lot for your videos, it helps a lot to push things forward with that synth. And the intro track is soooo nice !
Nice phaser-like (pseudo chorus/ensemble) sounds when using an attack envelope to modulate the vco 2 pitch. Gonna patch this up on modular sometime. Interesting!
Could you add a video explaining how the so-called "one shot" mode of the LFO influences the envelope? If I'm not mistaken that's a feature to "sort of" compensate for the lack of Decay in the envelope generator.
Does the EG remember settings for Pitch, Pitch2, Cutoff? It seems if you have EG to Pitch and set it that the setting remains as you move on to tweaking EG to Cutoff. I may be wrong though as that means essentially there are three separate EGs.
Unfortunately, you can only direct the EG to two things (the amp and whatever the switch is set to) at a time (unless you have it on the gate setting, in which case it is only directed to whatever you have the switch set to).
I don't seem to quite understand the point of the 3rd Type of EG when you can also use the INT knob in 1st & 2nd Types of the EG So the difference is that the 3rd Type isn't affected by Attack & Decay?
For that price, YES YOU SURE CAN. :D Seriously, though... if you need ADSR and two dedicated EGs, you only need buy a more expensive synthesizer. But you won't find THIS synthesizer with that functionality. So, you're basically sacrificing the desirable aspects of this synthesizer for standard functionality. But the thing is, with a synth this simple, if you had two ADSRs, you wouldn't be able to use them to do very much beyond what this synth already does. Due to its limited architecture, having a decay stage wouldn't make a huge difference, and neither would having individual envelopes for amp and filter. As far as this architecture is concerned, you could get a slightly more complex sync or ring outcome, but that's about it. As you undoubtedly know, setting filter and amp envelopes to starkly different settings ends up canceling out some of the envelope functionality anyway. Having multiple ADSRs is great, but on a synth of this size, with this functionality, and at this price... it's not a giant sacrifice to work with the streamlined envelope architecture Korg has made for you.
Yeah, I see your point. Remind me, is the Yamaha CS-15 the one with negative envelope modulation? I'm working on a Minilogue patch and that would be SO useful right now.
I can understand only one EG, but it would've been nice to have standard ADSR and a couple different routing and mixing modes. In my opinion, their "reach" fell a bit short here.

I never paid attention to osc sync until watching one of Doty's demos.
Agreed. I've gotten ideas for things to try with my modular synth with these.
I literally said that to my friend a few hours ago.
watching all the tutorials to get familiar with my monologue. had it for 2 years and need a goor refresher
The Patch from 6:35 so so goddamn great!
Reminds me of The Knife :)
6:35 That is a wonderfully haunting sound.

the sound at 6:44 is soooo great! Thanks for your videos, just got a Monologue myself and I really enjoy this synth :-)
Thanks for the video, really liking these. The Monologue has been so much fun to play with.

That sound at 6:35 😃. Thanks for a great introduction to my new synth 😊

Thanks so much for making these videos!
Love you buddy!
AD&D, second edition. Nice.

I will cover that in the LFO video, which is coming up very soon!
But yes, you can use the "one shot" as an envelope!

Exactly
4:41 haha
OHMYGODCLICKS
That pitch 2 thing sounds like a midi airhorn lmao
2:32 Superman theme?
clicks;lol
I can't get behind the lack of ADSR and the lack of two dedicated EGs.
