I actually am getting "I am" tattooed on me soon, for this reason. I personally associate "I am" with power, positivity and growth. But the problem is, I often forgot I Am anything at all! I'd like to get the tattoo on my wrist (and technically upside down, but the tattoo's for me so pfft) so that I see it everyday and am reminded of how amazing I really Am! Weeeee!

What makes your videos/advice stand out from others (In my opinion) is the focus on how simple details can evoke growth and change, effectively making one self-aware of our responsibility to ourselves.
You communicate strong messages without sounding preachy.
So much value on this channel, thank you for posting.

Erica V I went to a professional therapist thinking I would be understood, but instead I have never felt so judged. I thought I was there to get help. Not feeling ten time worse about my self, my emotions and thoughts. Julia is a person that doesn’t do that. She helps you to think it through and come to your own conclusions instead of telling you “what to do”. A rare talent in this time and age.

My teacher in grade 4 planted the seed of self efficacy that has supported me through many challenges. When struggling through frustration about a school project to the point of tears, he said that I was tenacious and that I had what I needed to solve the problem. It’s amazing how his encouraging words have helped me through the big problems, the frustrations, and self doubt.

    Few issues:
Just because someone made it past situations doesn't mean they made the right decisions and/or they are the same person after having done so
Someone can have low self esteem due to a lack of confidence for many reasons
If someone is a people pleaser and it results in good friendship and relationship then I believe they will be self satisfied. The problem comes when the individual does all this people pleasing and has nothing to show for it.
    Bombshell here!
Self esteem has alot to do with environment
If someone is around happy people and they treat them well generally people will be happy
But at the same time you can have an overall positive self esteem but lack confidence in certain social areas
Great video and thank you for all your work!

I can, I have, and I will! Great video. I identify with it so much. I have had those experiences getting established on and establishing my own private rural acre. So much work, some fulfillment, yet a void that isn't filled. This really made me feel like that disintegrates into the self-presence and satiated self-efficacy that clears your mind, soul, and improves how you feel and how you feel about yourself and achievements.

Watching this has made me realise that I have low confidence not low self esteem. I generally quite like myself and am happy with who I am, but I constantly fear messing things up and have terrible social anxiety. • @RachelSmets
      @RachelSmets 5 років тому +1

Phillip Rajcany our thoughts are so powerful, and if it became automated fro you, it became unconscious. You can change those worries again, just like they entered your subconscious, you can retrain your brain to get automated opposite thoughts, the thoughts that are not worries.
This takes time and effort, but you can retire your brain.
What you learned, you can also unlearn.

I'm sharing this video on FaceBook.
I suppose this is why I lose confi-... self-esteem when I try to defend myself from others. I try to fight for my core values and beliefs behind the wall of introverted safety in my heart, but the harder I defend, the more power I give others, and the more self-esteem I lose. I'm starting to believe that has a large amount to do with trying to put on the armor of confidence on the slippery negative self image I have of myself (not being able to believe my own worth without being able to prove my point to others). I don't feel like I can feel good about myself if I'm not wanted, desired or respected by others.
How much do others affect our self-esteem, self efficacy, and self-confidence? How do I stop making my feelings of self-worth vulnerable to what others think and how much I can attract and pleasure the opposite sex? (I've been abused and neglected by my mother, and have experienced disdain and been ignored by girls I'm attracted to).

I can and I've done hard things! 😎 Oh, yeah!
🤔 To be completely honest, I can use more confidence in some fields, part of me gets pretty insecure about taking action, not because of lack of self-esteem (I do like myself, LOL) but because of the idea of not knowing how to manage situations... I know life doesn't come with a manual but wouldn't be nice have one with all the codes to respond properly to each situation? 😂 Nice video, love it!

oh i kidna get this. I used to be confident(I can be successful, make money, professionally succeed, my skills are great and I'm smart) but used to have no self esteem at the same time(nobody likes me, I'm worthless, I'm just an object and tool and don't deserve to be loved, no one wants to be friends with me, no one can love me). There were areas in my life i was confident in and areas where I just had 0 confidence/efficacy, like making friends and maintaining relationships, which is funny becuase I actually had lot of friends and always made friends wherever I went..omg yeah i know exactly that sliding off feeling, nothing sticking... so sad!

Hi, great video. Can you tell me how this relates to self-concept? I am a family and consumer science teacher. The textbook I use says that your self-concept can be improved by working on building good qualities such as HONESTY, THOUGHTFULNESS, ATTITUDE, RESPONSIBILITY, etc. Do you find this to be true?
I am finding that we don't talk about self-concept without talking about self-esteem so I am just trying to wrap my mind around it a little better before I teach it to my students.

I was married to someone who did not like trying new things and I could never figure out why. Afraid to make mistakes? Who knows. I'm just glad I am not like that. I am a great gardener, painter and quilter. Love all of it. Have even gotten paid for some of my paintings and quilts. Life is fun. Tough stuff? Try giving up a baby for adoption bc your parents told you you would never succeed if you kept your baby. Made it through that one. Divorce, made it through that too. Supported myself WITHOUT WELFARE as a single parent bc the ex was only required to pay $125.00 a month child support. Yep, 125.00 A MONTH. So I supported myself and my son working 2 jobs. I looked up self esteem and I seem to fall under the high category with some key exceptions that you may find interesting. In a sense I sort of do not trust myself when it comes to my emotions towards others. I have developed feelings for narcissists in the past and so I do not fully trust my emotional judgement when it comes to relationships. Also, I do not trust people in general since they seem mostly irrational which makes it difficult to know how people will react. I also find it disturbing that there seems to be so many narcissists or sociopaths in society especially in managerial jobs or positions of power. There is also the overall meta view that humans, as a species, tend to behave like a toxic narcissist or even like a destructive plague and no matter what anyone says or does it seems likely this planet will inevitably end up destroyed. Such a bleak outlook obviously does not help. I'm not really sure how to assuage my anxiety in the matters above. I have been studying up on psychology as much as possible which I hope will help on the first issue but there is not much that I can do on the latter issue other then to pretend the house is not on fire :/. The only true remedy for the latter is to modify human DNA to make them less narcissistic and opportunistic while removing any remaining territorial tribalism baked into the species. Basically humans are not an enlightened species as-is and would need modification to become so. Any ideas? Thoughts? Thanks in advance Julia.
