    1. Be kind to yourself at hard times. Positive self talk.
    2. We are the thinkers of our thoughts.
    3. Realize that life is hard. Instead of asking why me, ask why not me? Acknowledge that you are human being and life is not easy. So I am not gonna give up, everything is temporary. Sometimes it is hard and sometimes it is not. Just accept that.
    4. Take responsibility for your choices. Look at the situations in your life and see how many things are there that are your responsibility and how much are optional. Some things are must to do for survival. But there is a lot of stuff we are putting on our plate that is in our mind and not necessary. Take responsibility of only those things that matter. Make choices. Choose to do things that matter.
    5. Step out of your comfort zone. Stop waiting to not feel scared. It's not like from going 0 to 1000, but let yourself be a little bit uncomfortable. A lot of stress is traumatizing. But do something to grow. Comfort zones are only perceptions of threat. You won't die. Step out.
    6. Speaking of failure. Change your perception about failure. Ask yourself why you fear failure so much. Change your meaning of failing.
    7. Giving up is not an option. If you decide that it is what you preferred then don't let yourself stop because of fear or self doubt.
    8. Stop looking for shortcuts. There is no easy button for anything. No magic solution. We don't actually do the work and deal with the stuff. We waste all of the time trying to get the shortcut. It is not going to be roses and sunshine all the time. So, do the work. It's not always easy and painless.
    9. You have to have healthy boundaries. If you are tossed around in life like a ping pong, it means you don't have boundaries. Communicate to let People know what's okay with you and what's not.

Hi I know this is an old video but I have been watching your videos for several days now and wanted to reach out. Idk if you’ll see it or not but all good. I’m going to try and give you a synopsis: I have been trying to battle my issues for years now but not wholly bc of shame and pride and ego….only in the last few did I even realize the magnitude and the sources and what all this was. I have always been so hard on myself, indecisive, anxiety ridden. I have often described feeling like I’m just living in a dream with nightmares sprinkled in. I never felt in control of what was happening in my relationships and such. 2 years ago I unexpectedly became a mom, I discovered my mother was a narcissist and as I was facing what kind of mother I would be I saw the future and past all at once. I realized how much I was still letting my childhood affect me. Ever since I have been desperately trying to heal and work on myself and stop letting myself and my trauma responses ruin my present life. I often fall into a pattern of working on it, falsely thinking I solved it, getting lazy in reality, only to realize I need to put in waaaaay more time and effort. Your videos have been so on point, honest, raw and cut through the BS and actually HELP. You actually want to help bc you aren’t letting all of us continue to lie to ourselves. I do not want to say a victim and a lot of therapy type situations do just that. You don’t and I’m grateful for that. I feel like you are contributing to my rescue raft and I am finally seeing some progress in myself and feel compelled to come back daily and watch more videos because they actually HELP. Thank you so much. I am grateful. I don’t want to lose my husband of 15 years and I want to stop these “generational curses” of criticism and shame and narcissism my family has and not pass that forward to my daughter. Thank you so much

Get out of your comfort zone! The brain has been protecting us for a million years to survive in a harsh world. Uncomfortable feelings and negative bias is just a protective mechanism to keep us safe. The world is a different place and we must realise these are just 'feelings', we will not die! Thanks for this, as always your talks are very helpful. Please keep up the good work.

I've spent a lifetime at sea in all kinds of difficulties. And I've seen the strongest of men break when things fail and such men thought they had control. Control is not the answer but flexibility for acceptance of the unexpected is within each moment and thus being awake and present in each 'now' and to observe with the intuitive essence of curiosity. I'm sure we've all seen a person of great character who inspires those who are close at hand during times of great difficulties and who appear to be able to calmly seek or adapt solutions for such things. You're an 'intuitive feeler', for the signs are quite clear, thus have the gift for such things.

Julia has such a compassion to teach. She is authentic as you hear the fluctuations in her voice knowing that she has experienced these same emotions. Life is hard. We must have healthy boundaries. How does a Catholic let go of guilt? How does a caring, loving mother say no to grown adult children in distress? I love her coaching but how to implement them is a challenge? I am a nurse with a master's and mindfulness coach but still struggle in my marriage & family of 33 years. I will explore what Guilt means to me and keep exploring body, mind & spirit boundaries in my life.

I am so amazed and beside myself to see that your video received 11 dislikes and that 909 people liked it! I couldn't disagree with anything you touched based on. I'm currently on my journey to self discovery and happiness. I wish I didn't try to take the short cuts I did but I'm so blessed to have learned the hard way. I can't begin to explain how life changing and motivating it is for me to see these LITTLE changes. Because these little changes are HUGE for me and it only pushes me to try harder. What goes wrong when you try harder? NOTHING. A few years ago I thought there was something wrong with me, like I was just the unlucky one walking this earth. Today, I feel so powerful and laugh when I see how far I've come. I've learned that the greatest attribute I had all along was my STRENGTH! Along blossomed courage, compassion and LOVE. I had a choice and I took responsibility for it. I'm here now and even though everything isn't where I want it yet, I'm already that much happier! Your video just helped me get through another day. Thank you Julia!

Hello from Akron Ohio. I just came across your channel tonight And I'm very thankful for it. One of my counselors said to me once," what would you say to the child version of yourself in this moment" and I was also told to go back and revisit tramatic and embarrassing moments throughout my life and try to heal myself by talking to that child version of myself, as an adult , as I would say to myself who I am now, and what I would say to myself back then. Positive self-talk is imperative. And defeat the negative self-talk

A few years ago, it was really harsh for me to hear some of these things. I couldn’t watch some of the videos like this one because it was just too much.
But now, I’m so much better with things that while some of these points still show me my own gaps, I am more capable and secure to address them. I’m grateful. ❤
The one that is hardest for me is “easy button” - I end up spending so much time trying to optimize… but must go through the whole thing - the actual long cut is needed to have the transformation we needed.

No words for the emotion of gratitude washing all over me for hearing these words in just precisely moment. Why me? Life isnt hard, life is good until the pnarc drills deep into your innerchild and converts all good excitement cutiosity, joy, all into fear. Programming it with its own lack, dark emptiness. Interestingly enough this is the fundamental agreement we have about our economic system. Any progress isnt motivated as long as it woud create abundance, as price n profit would fall too much.

Another dynamically balanced presentation of when to retreat, when to stand still and when to move full speed ahead, grow and have fun. Thanks again.

Welcome Rebeca - I'm really glad you're here.
One thing you may want to consider is the fact that you can't make anyone else happy. You can do things they like that may or may not give them temporary moments of pleasure, but you cannot make anyone else fundamentally happy. That part is up to them.
