You may not be aware but docs can only give general info over the internet. They can't give specific treatment advice without taking you on as a patient it's not legal and it's dangerous to treat someone without reviewing their medical issues.
Go to Dr. Hyman’s website or buy one of his books. He gives a lot of details on a detox diet to reset the gut and food to try and see what affects you positively and negatively.
what I've learned about gut health is that everyone has a different microbiome ecosystem and so you can't just prescribe the same foods to everyone across the board. Allergies are a result of this. Some people can't eat certain foods, because they're microbiome cannot process it. To learn about what foods you should eat and shouldn't eat, you would have to take a stool test with any microbiome company to find out what kind of gut bacteria you have in your microbiome to see what foods your specific biome turn into inflammation and what it turns into nutrients. Also Dr. Hyman gives a lot of information in his other videos and podcasts, but i'm sure he goes into more detail and the information is better structured in his books. Hope you find what you're looking for.
And right you are, Sir. Here is my leaky gut experience: Lectins in grains plus a specific genetic disposition caused the lining of my gut to become permeable - thus the stuff got into my system, binding to joint tissue which makes the immune cells react heavily and causing arthritis for 15 years. I made several attempts to quit grains - but I didn't do it for more than 3 or 4 months, with no effect, and I almost missed my path to recovery. But I got lucky: massive digestive troubles brought me back to avoiding grains for 10 months. Lo and behold: arthritis was gone along with the aches in my belly. Not everybody gets arthritis, not everybody is getting hurt by lectins - there is a genetic factor involved. But to those with arthitis I say: it's worth quitting grains, plus: pressure-cook all legumes, avoid bell-peppers and eggplants. The only grain that is lectin-free: sorghum and millet. Hope this might help somebody out there. I am free of severe arthritis - no medication, no inflammation. This has nothing to do with alleriges or gluten sensitivity. Lectins are a plant's natural defense substances against viruses, insects, fungi - but in the human gut, they can loosen the binding molecules between cells in some people.
@@marciawilliams8680 You might want to google Dr. Steven Gundry "The Plant Paradox", if you like. He knows all about lectins and grains. He has a youtube channel.

Currently, I have SIBO and Graves Disease. Something you said always comes to my mind, "why is your immune system pissed off?". I am being treated by the Cleveland Clinic's functional medicine, but I'm about to start my second round of Rifaximan. I was doin' ok but I may have had one too many bowls of guac and chips. So, my hyperthyroid has flared up again and I'm still having SIBO symptoms. I've come to understand that my gut health is key and this time around, I hope to be SIBO free and on my way the autoimmune disease free.
@@izreenfarah8689 my grave's is and at the time of my comment, controlled by (1) medication: methimazole/tapazole. (2) I also try to make sure I stay away from foods that cause inflammation, like gluten. I am a plant based eater, which can be tough with SIBO and the Low FODMAP protocol, so my diet is pretty limited, for a few reasons, including financial. It sucks that gut issues can negatively impact the immune system and I think that my recent slip into hypothyroidism caused the SIBO to come back. With medication, I don't always know when my thyroid will change from underactive to overactive, so as far as SIBO goes, I've learned to make sure I am at least properly hydrated and eating all the right foods to encourage proper digestion. That way nothing sits around for too long, causing bloating, etc. Another thing I do is drink an anti inflammatory green smoothie (kale, spinach, chia seeds, banana...) that I learned about from Dr Brooke Goldner, which actually helped a lot with my SIBO, coincidentally. I noticed it when I came to the end of the Rifaximan treatment, still having some but few SIBO symptoms, I started drinking those smoothies and all the SIBO symptoms left. But, I started drinking it to reduce inflammation linked to my thyroid. And lastly, but also important, I've learned that I have to do more than take my medication and eat right, I have to do things like (3) manage my stress better, sleep/rest, and exercise. I am learning how those things are great for calming down autoimmune diseases and GI issues, separately, so I feel like I'm killing two birds with one stone. I have limited some things but I can't cut much more at this stage. I was already gluten free....so my testing for gluten issues was a bomb. Doctor said go back on gluten. I am sticking with it. I use it very limited but I am really not into starvation lol I wish I had known more of this sooner....because doing this while ill from this stupid tick bite is torture.
With such advancement in science… why isn’t there something simple to reset the gut microbiome? Just so we can start fresh and then go forward with good health!!!!
In ancient times people didn't have the variety of foods that we now have. I can't stand those doctors anymore. Not one of them ever say one word about probiotics and reestablishing gut microbiom and Health. That's Rockefeller medical school for you.
I'm not a doctor, but I would start taking probiotics
@@micheleshively8557 we do.
Once you are off of your medication, Please get aloe Vera plant use about 2 tablespoons of the clear gel for seven mornings on an empty stomach. On the 3rd to 4th day, you gonna believe that you are still on antibiotics. Why? Your going to poop them out along with the parasites 🦠. Get ready.
And eat your onions 🧅 garlic 🧄 feed your gut with probiotics good fiber.
You keep talking about the gut but not giving information whT food to eat. I get the first part, give me the second part..please.
Hey Mark! I don't know if you'll see this, but if you do, could you try to get Stanley Hazen back for an interview to ask about the recent erythritol study and anything else he has found?
You are a mad genius, Dr. Hyman!
First-rate presentation. Many thanks.

I need to heal my Gut because i have Histamine Intolerance, my DAO is less than 2 in my body… idk what to do anymore
Thank you Dr Hyman for your generosity in sharing these life giving podcasts - as many of us are trying to heal from serious illnesses, I only hope one day functional medicine will be more affordable
Thats the truth right there. Ive strongly considered going to one but heard it runs in the thousands.
THE BEST video I've watched on this subject. THANK YOU!
For higher quality video, you may want to look into a SLR camera ans a mic attachment or at least a better phone.
Any information on long term miralax use ordered by doctor?
How do I find a great functional doctor? What credentials do I need to look for?
He talked about inflammation nearly 10 thousand times and still is not tired of it...
Zinc, chelated or not makes me so nauseous. Usually, even when I eat. I have psoriasis & psoriatic arthritis, I assume I have leaky gut. Should I continue to try to take zinc or avoid it? I assume to avoid it, but I'm wondering how crucial of an aspect zinc is?
Wht do you take with a highly reactive immune system as in severe RA that makes you unable to eat gluten dairy Soy corn and cabbage, kimchi & pickled foods
I would love to buy the akkermansia but it contains really bad fillers and for that price and having that fillers! Hmm then I will try to increase it in another way unfortunately cause I would love to do yoghurt from it! But my good for that and it contains a lot of bad fillers for the gut! Why why why
Thank you very much for all the amazing work that you do!
Is very sad that our conventional medical Doctors are prisoners of Big Pharma - why can't we change this? Its not fair that " we the people " have to follow the rules that make us sick. I have spent so much money on detoxing from all my 35 trips to India - I'm in deep gratitude that I can afford it. I'm not rich but my health is important to me
Thank you Dr. Hyman, I've been following you for many many years. Namaste
5:08 regarding float. If it floats, does that mean there is not enough bile production?
I wondered about that and thought perhaps we should look further into it x 💙🌺🙏😇🇦🇺🕊️
If you don't help I am gonna just quit bothering
Hi Dr Hyman
Just saw a piece on TV about Dr. Uma Valeti a cardiologist from Mayo who grows chickens in a lab (directly from chicken cells) for human consumption and would LOVE to hear your thoughts!
Thanks Doc! Great stuff!
I’m trying to work on my gut bacteria to help with health also I’m hoping that I can fix my rosacea or calm it down more.
I’ve started celery juicing on my 6 day weird but I’m getting big pimples on my face hoping it’s just my body detoxing.
Curious....? Can smoking affect the gut and give you digestive problems
After 37 years of cigarettes, I switched to vaping, and health improving substantially

I have silver fillings and don’t know what to do. How worried should I be? I cannot afford to get any other type right now and don’t know if my insurance pays for any other types of fillings.
Good job, Dr. Hyman.

But when ur lining is too damaged u need antiacids to repair the lining! When its too severe its actually helping to heal the inflammation first
5 minutes in he says your stool should float ideally?!? To my understanding stool that is floating is a sign of fat malabsorption. Ughhh
Dr berg says to fast for 3 days to reset the gut? Anyone know if this is true???
That's the first time I heard floating is desirable. I understood that it was a sign you aren't properly digesting fat due to either insufficient pancreatic enzymes or a bile issue. I know I personally only see floating when I have consumed a lot of fat without taking ox bile afterward.
I was wondering myself also with floating is desirable, I hope we can have a update from him on that
Can mold cause eczema?
I have limited some things but I can't cut much more at this stage. I was already gluten free....so my testing for gluten issues was a bomb. Doctor said go back on gluten. I am sticking with it. I also was diagnosed with alpha gal and rocky mountain spotted fever. I've done sugar detoxes in the past but I am struggling to eat at this point. I use it very limited but I am really not into starvation lol I wish I had known more of this sooner....because doing this while ill from this stupid tick bite is torture.
Dear Dr. Hyman,
How can I be your patient?
Where is your practice located?
Blessings,
GOING BACK ON PROBIOTICS
but how do I get rid of parasites, yeast if I have them?
I'm concerned about my kidneys, my diet is ruining them! I'm scared now.
With such advancement in science… why isn’t there something simple to reset the gut microbiome? Just so we can start fresh and then go forward with good health!!!!
In ancient times people didn't have the variety of foods that we now have. I'm thinking about where I live, in Canada, the indigenous people would have had meat and some root vegetables and berries and such. I keep hearing that variety is important for good gut health but that doesn't seem to hold water when you consider how indigenous people lived.
If you live dirty in a garden and in dirt is good for the gut. Also they fad fewer gut damaging exposure.
@@innosanto I've often thought that the soil might good for the gut or at least not harmful. (I wouldn't want dirt in my food.) I have an organic garden and I never wash my produce from it unless there's some soil splashed on it. People say yuck, bug poo, and slug slime. I say who cares.
They ate every part of the animal they could including the fibrous, fermented contents of the animals gut.
So how do I heal my gut?

How to get rid of a burning throat I've tried everything nothing is working
Check out if you have GERD.
How to prevent?
Well, I think you’re right about to get back. But I’m beginning to think more and more. It’s from my bottle water. I’ve been drinking for years. My osteoarthritis has gotten so much worse. It’s almost unbearable. Now I am on oxycodone which I thought I would never be on a narcotic. I’m going to research it more but our water in our town is god awful. It’s an old mining down. We have a lot of iron ore and sulfur in the past I have used water filters, but they don’t last long if someone could recommend durable water filter that is an outrageously priced I would definitely appreciate it
Thank you for sharing your expertise with us, it's by far the most in depth and correct analysis, thanks again.

Take nutmeg stops fermentation in the gut and stops depression.
Will healing your gut help with MS?
Hey doctors, thank you for all that you are doing for the people, do you think applying all that you are saying in our life’s will help with cirrosis, please let me know what’s something extra that we can do to make the miracle and stop or reverse that damage 😢 it’s my mom people pleaser help, doctors in my country are just ignoring the died and way of life thing completely and I don’t think they are helping at all…
Thank you. God bless.❤
Also remove bad thoughts.
Not everyone eats crap food, gluten sugar, white carbs, inflammatory oils etc etc.
so what about people that eat super well and know what to eat, yet still have inflammation.
Not everyone has a shitty diet or is fat
Derr!
They don't count when discussing how diet makes us all sick.
They are just anecdotal, not to be considered relevant. All 459 Million of them.
May I ask exactly the kinds of food you eat? And drink?
What kind of oils are you eating and what exactly are you eating?
Not easy to do that even if you ear yogurt the yogurt of 50 years ago was 5 times better
@@innosanto If the only problem with your diet is that the yogurts you eat, aren't as good as the yogurts of 50 years ago, then your problem has nothing to do with your diet either.

Hey doc- isn't floating bad? A sign of too much fat??
Floating is definitely bad. He messed up on this
He said because we don’t eat enough fibre hence floating.
Is goat milk considered dairy?
Don’t think so. I’m sensitive to all cow milk and products with the exception of kefir. Goat milk is my go to when I can afford it at $5 a quart. 😢
YES. but more digestible than cow milk.
Goat kefir is good.
Awesome once more.
Someone please explain this to me in less time.
Quit eating sugar, and starches. Very simple. Eat meat, vegetables and maybe a little fruit. No food in boxes, or bags.
No Bread, right?and what instead of potatoes?? Thanks
@@micheleshively8557brilliant summary, thank you!!
Just don't eat potatoes.A substitute really isn't necessary. Eat meat, a salad and a vegetable and you will be full. Butter on the green veg, full fat dressing on the salad.
@@bliss5133sweet potato, yam, plantain, squash… but not everyone has to avoid potatoes. Start with one thing at a time. Start with just gluten. Then dairy. Reduce sugar (fruit is ok). Don’t stress about it too much.
I recently had a cold but the flu like symptoms never went away I lost my taste but and really not feeling hungry at all I suffer from constipation and I am taking some natural pills that always help. Suddenly I started having stomachache but is moving around to different part of the area. I don’t eat gluten for long time and sugar just some honey. I had COVID and developed long COVID symptoms and developed high histamine besides my emotional health is not good I am in therapy and she helps me a lot but if something bad happened in between I have to deal myself. I think I have an inflammation all over the digestive system but my immune system is very low too. I am taking a lot of the supplements you suggested how to start I don’t know I think I am also having problems with yeast infection but I not sure if one of the symptoms is stomachache or pain all over, could please give me some advice how to start or proceed I really don’t want end up on the ER every time I go there I left worse than when I went in.
Dr Axe is back👍👍
Since the covid jab i've been experiencing bouts of bloating and acid reflux with tingly sensations in my arms and legs. Maybe the covid jab has damaged my heart or it's just anxiety? Thanks doctor.
