ALL Mind Flayer SKILLS Glitch in Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3, Max Illithid Powers

- You can get all the Illithid Powers in Baldur's Gate 3 in Act 2 after you find Nightsong with save and reload glitch. One to four members of your party can have all the end game Mind Flayer skills and powers if you try to enter the Mountain Pass after killing or sparing the Nightsong and before you kill General Ketheric Thorm in Moonrise towers. Going to the mountain pass three times results in a game over cut scene where all members of your party are transformed into Mind Flayers. If you quick save at the Game Over screen after the Absolute wins, then you can reload and fast travel back to act 2 and continue with your game. Only selected party members are transformed. Mind Flayers cannot change their class, but they keep their old class skills, powers and spells plus gaining all the illithid skills. The mind flayer attributes are ideal for wisdom, intelligence, or charisma classes such as bards, clerics, druids, sorcerers, and wizards. Dexterity or strength classes may see their performance in their class go down as a mind flayer. Think about what characters that you want to transform. Hirelings may be better choices than origin characters.

It’s possible on console. The timing is to do a full 8 Count and quicksave on 8 after you hear “THRALL”

This has been patched as of patch #4.
Larian studio has patch this one. It is possible, but you cannot teleport out. Larian Studios has made the area a restricted area disallowing you to teleport out.
Ok, i haven't tested this out but it might work. Leave one of your 3 companions at camp. Do the thing. Die in the mindflayer area, and then have the 4th person left out resturrect all of you

@@ShonenGoon it doesn't work. It will turn your whole party to mind flayers and teleport the party member at camp to the astral plane.
This does work on the PS5, you just have to time your save to be at the very end. I stayed in the save menu until the last possible second before it went to the game over screen. This is the best work around since we dont have the quicksave option at the end

Low strength doesn't matter once you get some certain gloves in act 3. You can keep your laezel.
Have 3 level in rogue for theif sub class is pretty good with the permanent mind sanctuary.
I figured out if you call the hireling, respect the hireling, and change it, you cannot send the hireling away, (you can make it wait in camp without any penalties)
if you tell the hireling you have no more use for them
you cannot level that hireling back up to where it was, that hireling is a permanent mind flayer at level one (whatever class you chose)

Interesting.
Can’t lock pick or disarm traps. The option isn’t even there as mindflayer. Can’t change class or level up either. Rest of the game works so far.

Yeah, I am so glad I saved before I did this… It’s almost not worth it to sacrifice my legerdemain abilitys, picking locks and disarming traps is just too important, I didn’t even know you couldn’t level up or change classes…

@@foxwhite25 my play style doesn’t include primary spell casters really, I might get around to using Gale, and Wyll, May be on a different play through, but so far I have a ton of fun with a gloom stalker/ bard, a fighter/bard, A cleric/ bard, and my paladin bard.
I cross class everyone with bard to get the long rest on each character, so no matter where I’m at and what situation I’m in, I have four full rests.
I personally believe that bard is the most broken class in the game… love it.

Strength is always 21 or 27 when you play Force-based character thanks to Elixir of Hill Giant or Cloud Giant so no need to worry about it
You can't level after you do this. Also, if you respec you're stuck at level 1.

I really hope they make the mind flayer bug a feature. Because I want to play a new game plus run as a mind player from Act 1 with act 3 gear and spells.. can I have fun with the game? Lol
Id also love to get duplicates of items for builds.. could cast misty step like 5 times without resting lol

i was talking to my friend about this too, imagine playing as god of ambition gale (way too broken but would be insane fun)
Does this still work?
No.
Constitution is fixed at 14 even if yours was higher before. Pre-change stats don't seem to matter.
It affects your hit points post change.
@@LinusWilsonso if you go mountain dwarf and go max constitution 20 you get extra HP or nah
Now I think it's patched out: after the Nightsong the Dreamvoice doesn't let you interact with the passage (before the Nightsong just simply go to the other region).
This almost seems like something the devs knew about and decided not to fix.
They will probably fix it at some point..

I do not know how it happened. But on my console while trying to do this. I think i quicksaved and loaded too many times. The end result was my character having the effect of being a Mindflayer. However, they do not have the appearance. They could still level up and everything else. However, they did not get access to any new tadpole abilities. Their eyes became glowing balls too.

It will work. Just go there.
There is no one button quick save in console, you have to open a menu which you cant do past the game over
However, you can press the pause button while the cinematic still plays and time when you press the save and get this
So it is possible on ps5, the fast travel may not work at first and traversing things like vines will bug you and freeze the character, recomend saving and reloading and you will auto spawn where you wanted to fast travel before

You need to quicksave. You cannot go into the game menu.
Dunno if it works but someone else said time your quicksave towards the end of the cutscene while you can still open the menu.
It's hard it takes timing was trying for like 10 mins but with timing it's possible
Have you leveled up after becomming am illithid? Curious if the game will still let you.
Nope. Plan to do this on a dark urge playthrough. I don’t think it is great for a fighter/paladin group leader. Laezel is too OP as a fighter. Make her half illithud at the start of act 3 and she’s hard to stop. Would like Wyll to be half illithud but I’m worried about the rolls. Made Gale half and would not mind making him whole. Astarion is too pretty to get the purple face lines.
@LinusWilson I loaded up an older save (about 30 hours difference) to test this out and their powers are so cool. I just wish the leveling system wasn't bugged upon becomming an Illithid. Really curious if it will allow you to level up aftwards.

I am interested in this too but am way past this with my first and not quite there with my second. The fastest way to test this is be ready respec and leave one level to level up after the change. I look forward to see if this works.
@pumpkinjack9310 yeah I don't believe that works. I have tried respecing and then becomming an Illithid. You lose the pending levels and are a level 1 Illithid (even if you did this at level 6 or 7, the game will still consider you level 1. The issue with that is that your experience will be based upon what level you were, so if you were level 6 you would still need the same amount of experience. You can respec before doing this and pick your classes but once you become an illithid you cannot respec on that character again. Just not sure what happens if you are let's say level 6, become an illithid and then gaining the experience to level 7 if it will actually let you level up.

I don’t believe you can. You can glitch the Witcher 3 to play as Ciri for most of it. She is way weaker than a lvl 6 mind flayer.

I did it on PC that way.

It stops the leveling process of your character, there are mods that give you the same powers without any of the drawbacks on PC.

@@Nyarklath69 in that case, I would reload the save just before you started this process, and literally do everything you can to get XP, even if that means reloading a save before you entered act two, because you can’t level that character again afterwards.

If u don’t know who the nightsong is you cannot do this yet. Look for the nightsong in the temple of shar in the shadow cursed lands of Act 2.

It works on ps5 just wait to the last sec before your screen goes black to quicksave
