"Well...I cant only have one. I can have as many as I can afford..." I get your point about that question 100%...but for some folks, 1 IS as many as they can afford. Really glad you answered that question. Even though you hate it and I understand why. People ask that because you have become an authority on this stuff. If I can afford 10 or 20 RDS...who cares if I buy the right one. If I can only afford one, it needs to be right. You are the guy I would ask "which one" if that was my situation. I can understand & appreciate what you are saying to an extent. But in all honesty for the overwhelming majority of people how many you can afford is merely an exercise in the ranking & placement of priorities. For those saying the "only have 1" remark they usually mean that they can only afford 1 right now without changing anything in their lives, how they are currently living, or making changes to their current spending habits. If you truly want something bad enough then you will find a way to be able to get it, for the most part. That is because you jump it higher on your priority list which might be at the cost of some priorities lower on the list. It's just that in general, most people don't like making any compromises or cut backs nor do they truly analyze their spending habits & how much gets pissed away in a year by nickel & diming on small shit that didn't matter which we've all been good at from time to time. Literally bought a Holosun 509T today based on this review. Only paid 360 out the door for it! Not sure they had it priced right, but that’s not my problem lol. Looking forward to using it!
The Holosun web site states the 509T ships with an RMR plate, which to me means you mount the plate to your RMR mounting holes then mount the 509T on the plate.
I literally just got a 507. Still in the box. Oh well it's affordable, available, and it will be a good way to get my feet wet in the pistol RDS world.
Thanks for this and all your prior reviews. I have a slide going out to Jaegerworks for a 509T specific cut, one optic already on a PDW build, and I'm picking up a second to go on the aforementioned G19 slide which will end up replacing the slide I presently have on my daily carry gun that's equipped with a 507 (that slide will get transferred to my nightstand gun).
I bought a top tier Holosun red dot as I really liked some of the innovative features. Unfortunately it died shortly after purchase before I even got a chance to shoot with it. I returned it for repair eight months ago and it has still not been returned to me. When they work they are great but they fail far more than US made products and the warranty support is terrible
Aaron has some of the best reviews on red dots out there. I got my 507C after watching his review. I now own the 512C for my AR. Looking at this 509T and 507K as my next option. I'm liking the features of the new gen 2 versions...squared off top instead of round, larger buttons, and quick change batteries.
"Can I only have one" is applicable for using a specific optic for daily carry. In this case, you can, actually, "only have one" which makes the question valid for me.

I really don't know what else to say after Rilian other than I really appreciate the torture tests. I baby my firearms but it is nice to know what these products are capable of. Once again well done!
Would you explain your reasoning? I’m in the process of looking for a red dot for my G35 MOS and was leaning towards the DPP, but was concerned about the height for backup iron sights. It appears the Holosun is shorter - so you don’t need the Uber tall sights as compared to the DPP? Also, the DPP didn’t really survive the drop test and for a carry gun optic that is important to me. I thought about the RMR, but the battery location would end up pissing me off. So, all that to say, I would appreciate your input since you have the experience with all 3 of them. Lastly, why not the 508? What is the advantage beyond fogging of it being enclosed? - or is that the main benefit.
Fantastic Info. Aaron...Yeah I tried to slave my iron sights to the red dot....Did not work for me ....making the adjustment. very informative...Thanks
Fyi. The 509t comes with an rmr adaptor plate. So you can mount it to rmr milled guns using the plate. Disadvantage to that is the optic will sit higher than an rmr/507 etc due to adding the plate.
I've running a Type 2 RM06 on a Glock 19 Gen5 MOS. My optics plate seemed pretty flat on install and I made sure to get the sealing plate kit with the proper screws from Trijicon (it should just come with that IMO) and applied blue loctite. No issues so far, but I'm below 1000 rd at this point with the optic installed. If I could go back and do it again I'd probably just do a direct mount, but I do like having the plates as an option.
Watching your burn downs and round count comments in February of 2021 is really bumming me out. Obviously you caused the ammo crisis. Great review. 👌🏼🇺🇸👌🏼
Yes he has some of what I think are the best unbiased reviews on the net not to mention the dry humor mixed in , although a sound effect added to the drop test , say a ww2 airplane screaming in with a bang or a pull out depending on out come of drop test
I've always felt the reason people ask "If you can only have one, which would you choose?" is because they are buying their first and might only be able to afford one and want to get the most recommended by someone who has tried many.
@@Lawman-196 lol what would it take for you to concede that holosun isnt junk? I think people like you are so dogmatic that there isnt much to convince you. Literally EVERYONE who matters who reviews these RAVE about them. Have fun paying twice the price for half the optic.

Your thread strength is proportional. On average your thread strength is going to be your first 2-3 threads, meaning failure will occur regardless of length of the threads on a fastener. Also, mil handbook 60 is a good reference for clamping loads.
Hey man, I would love to see a review of the 507k, it’s a microdot that actually looks like it could survive hard use. I know the sig Romeo zero and shield rmsc crumbled from one drop. It would be nice to have an optic to put on my 43x. Thanks for all the work you do, it’s greatly appreciated.
I have been a Holosun fan from day one. My first one I got off EBay and it had issues when it would heat up and I called them and they asked for 2 pictures of it and they sent me a new one at no charge and no bullshit
A lot of people say the things you doing reviews aren't necessary and real world. What if your pistol gets dropped while running bangs up against the environment in a fight or flight. It must be as predictable as an iron sight. Excellent I love your abs on your RMR sights.
THIS (fully enclosed emitter) is the future of red dot pistol sights. Just ordered a 509T-RD for my RUGER 57 pistol. UPDATE: OK, my 509T is mounted and tested. Love the circle reticle at the 6 o'clock portions for 75 to 100 yard shots with that flat sooting 5.7 x 28 cartridge of the RUGER 57. -> I now have 3 magazines, 2 are in my double mag pouch from The Vest Guy. I also have a Ruger Kydex OWB holster that accommodates red dot sights. ZOMBIES BEWARE! (ActuallyI carry it on desert training hikes here in Nevada where engagement distances could be long.)

I look forward to watching more of your to the point, and informative videos. You do nice work. Thank you for what you do.
Great review. Would have been awesome if you also included a water spray/submersion test for leaks and how it affects visibility, target acquisition, distortion, and accuracy.
Better than the ACRO in every way. Have both and I wouldn’t get another ACRO, nor would I recommend anyone get an ACRO, period. Holosun has really stepped their game up of late, and they have some upper echelon products. Their 508T, and 509T can go toe to toe with any high end MRDS. They’re reliability and ruggedness has been proven, so at this point you’re getting just as much bang, if not more bang for your buck with the Holosun’s. The 509T is a real fuck you to Aimpoint. They basically said “here, we’ll fix all your issues, and add more features in a smaller package for less money”. In regards to the ACRO alone, the battery life is all you have to say. 509T will give you years, and the ACRO will give you months lol.
Finally was able to get my 509T mounted on my Sig P320. While the dot was very clear, the distortion in the glass made it almost unusable. It almost seemed like a magnified optics. Not sure if I just got a bad one or if This is normal.

Lastly, why not the 508? What is the advantage beyond fogging of it being enclosed? - or is that the main benefit.
Fantastic Info. Aaron...Yeah I tried to slave my iron sights to the red dot....Did not work for me ....making the adjustment. very informative...Thanks
Its the one I have been waiting for!
Just got one and out it on my APX. It's a nice sight! Although I noticed that the glue along outside the front glass was a little messy.
I've always felt the reason people ask "If you can only have one, which would you choose?" is because they are buying their first and might only be able to afford one and want to get the most recommended by someone who has tried many.
exactly
As normal, excellent review in every respect. I was informed and entertained. Your shooting skill is impressive.
War Poet says HoloSun is his optic of choice. That endorsement and this review is good enough for me.
Michael Fryzel but he still carries the trijicon RMR on his EDC
Chinese made junk.....no thank you, you get what you paid for. Give me American made quality!
@@Lawman-196 lol what would it take for you to concede that holosun isnt junk? I think people like you are so dogmatic that there isnt much to convince you. Literally EVERYONE who matters who reviews these RAVE about them. Have fun paying twice the price for half the optic.
@@Lawman-196 did you watch ANY of sage's reviews?
@@Lawman-196 I feel you sir. I try to buy American win I can. I just bought a Kershaw usa made knife as a matter of fact. It's just hard to for me as a casual shooter to justify The money that aimpoint wants. I did go holosun and have no regrets, but for sure. I buy American more often than not.
Excellent test and review. Thanks for all you do 😎👍👍
I just bought and am mounting a 512c as I watch this. Well this is bad ass I love the box looks!!! Well i guess I'll be ordering two for my p10c's. I liked the acro. But that is so damn expensive!! So this is a great choice for me!!! Thanks for the review Aaron!!
T Bundy Im wanting a 512 also but waiting for a review. I like the box look as well. Looked at the vortex Huey, Leupold, and the 512. I think the 512 will be getting my money.
Awesome review. And congrats on the SOLGW gig.
Your thread strength is proportional. On average your thread strength is going to be your first 2-3 threads, meaning failure will occur regardless of length of the threads on a fastener. Also, mil handbook 60 is a good reference for clamping loads.
Another great review.. patiently waiting to see you show how the 507k performs
Great video and I think this is the best handgun red dot out right now!
Just bought mine today. They have been sold out for months. They are back in stock most places (at the time of this post).
509 on the 509!
Cant wait! 🔫😎🇺🇸
Awesome video as always. Like the objective review process. Looks like some tendinitis going on.
Love getting notifications for a new video from y’all.
Gotta love Georgia in the winter. 70 -something last week, multiple 20 degree days this week. What the hell. Getting all the seasons within a few days
GiveMeThatCake you southerners have it so good. In Alberta it’s 5c right now, this time last week, it was -35c.
@@MaxwellAerialPhotography I come from a long lineage of Minnesotans. I'll gladly take northern weather over Southern.
Been waiting for this, time to start saving up
Throwing this on my AR as a backup, canted 45. Excited to say the least
Does the mount that comes with it attach to picitanny?
@@BrunoMcChicken yessir it’s made by Trex arms. It has a riser plate as well. It’s a solid mount.
I have been a Holosun fan from day one. My first one I got off EBay and it had issues when it would heat up and I called them and they asked for 2 pictures of it and they sent me a new one at no charge and no bullshit
Nice video Aaron! Very well done. Now I want one.
I just watched I think 6 maybe 7 of your videos. You seem to know some things, dont seem arrogant and are not too annoying. Gave you some 👍along the way, now you have earned my submission as well. I look forward to watching more of your to the point, and informative videos. You do nice work. Thank you for what you do.
I'm mad that youtube didn't give me the recommendation to watch this and I had to scroll through my subscription list.
Same
wow all your videos are so well done. legit!
I have a feeling holosun made a huge fanboy after they sent you a test model directly. Shows some balls.
I don't think so. Aaron probably gets free T&E stuff all the time and doesn't strike me as one to pull punches.
Finally was able to get my 509T mounted on my Sig P320. While the dot was very clear, the distortion in the glass made it almost unusable. It almost seemed like a magnified optics. Not sure if I just got a bad one or if This is normal.
