- We're back to shooting some pistol and taking a look at the Holosun 509T and 508T. In this video, Troy and Jon do a quick overview video comparing The holosun 509T and 508T.
The 509T is an enclosed reflex optical sight designed for pistol applications. Features include a Titanium housing, Holosun’s Super LED with up to 50k hours battery life, Multi-Reticle System, Solar Failsafe, and Shake Awake.
The 508T X2 is a titanium, open reflex optical sight designed for pistol applications. The X2 Series pistol optics feature two improvements. First is the addition of Lock Mode from our 2018-2019 LE pistol optic models. Lock Mode, when activated, locks the buttons preventing inadvertent setting changes. Second, the buttons have been redesigned to compliment the Lock Mode by placing them lower and out of the way. Additional features include a Titainium housing, Holosun’s Super LED with up to 50k hours battery life, Solar Failsafe, Multi-Reticle System, and Shake Awake.
I have the Holoson 509T on my Faxon F19 Patriot and like you guys I just love how clear the dot is. I also selected the Holoson 509T for the same reasons, the dot is always protected from any outside interference. Admittedly enough, I did have to get used to the size of this particular model, but I am really happy with my red dot selection. Very nice review and thank you for sharing.

I mounted the 509T on my Glock 45 with a C&H plate and love it. I am having problems figuring out what size suppressor sight to buy for a lower 1/3. Love the video.
I got the exact setup as you & i installed regular height suppressor sights & it co-witness perfectly

Me too... but I couldn't wait... Already bought one.
To be clear... It does come with an RMR plate.. but it will NOT fit on RMR cuts that have the raised boss--- such as a Zev or brownells slide. It has to be the flat milled RMR cuts with the larger screws.

I got a C&H precision plate for my 509t on my g17 mos gen 5 & it sits pretty low....co-witness perfectly with regular suppressor sights
The C&H plate is awesome!! Are you using Ameriglo (XL or 2XL) or Trijicon sights?

When I hold down the minus button my 509 won't switch recticals, it just disappears and then when I hold it down again it reappears but won't switch out of the circle rectical. Can someone help?
Mentioned a rmr plate for the 509. I am looking for optic, or trying to pick one, for a VP9. The 509 is not listed on the compatible list. So I am thinking of the 508. Can I get some help on whether the 509 will attach with the rmr plate.
We trained in heavy rain and snow with the 508T and 507, lesson learned: get the 509T LOL.
Did the conditions make both optics unusable?
@@zacharyschellinger4769 Both the 507 and 508 are still running strong, my favorite is actually the 508. IT's just that during snow and rain conditions, we spent a lot of time trying to clear snow and rain from the emitter or the glass. You can use your fingers to quickly wipe the glass and that works but the issue is when rain or snow gets on the emitter, it can take a few seconds to even a minute or more to clean out. With the 509T, just a quick finger wipe of the glass and you're good to go. If you live where heavy rain or snow is not an issue, then I recommend the 508T. The 509T has a slight distortion to the red dot because of the two glass, however it shouldn't affect your shooting because you should be focused on the target not the dot. If you can, buy both the 508 and 509 and just use them in the appropriate weather.

I bought one Type2 rmr 3.25moa & bought 2-HE508T -V2-Elite& 1-HE508T-V2-GR-Elite’s. This wasn’t by accident. I much prefer the Holosun’s MRDS/MGDS’s over the RMR. IF only the HE509T came in Green I’d be Happy-Happy-Happy.

Do you notice a blurred or distorted effect towards the top of the glass on your 509?
Just shoot it with the dot in the center and you won't have that issue.

509 x2’s are coming soon, so I’m starting to find 509 v1’s for under $300. The X2 looks identical, but now you can use a circle only reticle and the glass is said to be much improved in regards to distortion.
I’ve been satisfied with my ACSS Vulcan, but I just ordered a 508t green, so we’ll see how that one feels.
509T distortion is HORRENDOUS.
I'm a diehard Holosun fan. I need a RMR knock off. And the 509T ain't it.
I got the 508T-GR X2 and it's great. I thought I would prefer the dot with reticle but I am starting to like the green dot without reticle. It's great to have different options and the green color is awesome. I think you'll like it either way.

Hmm... Really? I've never seen anything in that price range with lots of distortion. Usually would expect that from 50 dollar RDS that don't have the name "TRS-25".

Can you have lower 1/3rd sights with the 509T?
To answer my own question in case anyone comes across the same thought in the future.. with my glock 19 gen 3, and trijicon Suppressor-Height night sights, and a Holosun 509T...you CAN get lower 1/3 view (more like lower 1/4 or lower 1/5) ONLY IF you purchase the 509T RMR Plate manufacturered by CHPWS. I did it myself in this exact config and Im loving it.
I would like to get the 509T for my FNX45 Tactical, HK VP9 OR, and Sig M18. Does anyone know if the mounting plate that comes with it will fit those pistol? Also, I would prefer steel vs aluminum plates. Anyone know of any makers?

Those optics are bad ass they look great on hand gun or a 7 1/2 AR build even though 4 inch AR nine I’ve seen a few of them on UA-cam lately and I definitely got it build one the 4 inch that optic it’s great for the Glock 19 and the AR nine do you guys know how it is it’s personal preference it’s just a bad ass optic it’s gonna look good on whatever you stick it on and is built like a tank nobody’s proven otherwise I’m sure you guys get some haters I’ll never paid any mind to the people who hate they probably go around and watch all these videos can’t afford to buy one of the optics anyway 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪

Does the 509t fit a rmr plate as well?
Always thought the Trijicon dot looked a bit fuzzy and comparable to the $35 fake airsoft sights in some regards...

I like trijicon only cause they will take it back if it needs to be fixed. I hate to say it but I've sent my rmr back 4 times. I do shoot 400 rnds every weekend. I'm only curious if anyone tried to warranty any products from holosun and if they've been burned by declined warranty service.
I can say that holosun customer service was really good to me when I had a issue with a magnifier. They sent me a new one and I sent the old one back as I was in a time crunch but usually you just send them it and they will fix and send back to you

That looks like a HOUSE on top of a pistol, I have concealed carry red dots and have yet to even have to touch the port that holds the red laser, it seems to push away the dust just fine
I just don't like the design on the 509T. But it's a personal preference
the 508T is great until something gets in the way of the projection area like a hair, water, or significant dirt.
definitely make sure you put backup irons that cowitness on there.
Exactly why I picked up the 509 for my first EDC optic pick. It solves all my major gripes with making the move from iron sights.
Enclosed/fog free. Durable. Long lasting. Accurate. Easy battery access.
Jagerwerks solves the only downside: proprietary mount. But… they also turn it into a major benefit: this thicc boy sits super low on the slide with their milling. It lower cowirnesses perfectly with my standard height Ameriglo I-dots to keep a snag-free draw.
I put a little piece of electrical tape over the tritium dots so they don’t busy up my sight picture, but have fully functional night sights if there’s an equipment failure if I find myself on the wrong side of bang.
Couldn’t be happier.
Waiting for my plate to come in and then I will be running the 508t daily. Hard as heck to find right now

@@BT_Spanky You’re going to love it! The C&H plate allows my Holosun 509t to sit nice and low on my FN 509 MRD compact. I can easily cowitness the Red Dot to my suppressor height sights. One of the best ways I’ve spent $65 in a long time.
Anyone use a 508 or 509 on an m&p 2.0??
I just put the 508T-GR X2 on my M&P 2.0 40 S&W 5" barrel and 2.0 9 mm 4.25" barrel (both CORE models). I used the C&H Precision plates for both in lieu of the plastic plates that came with the guns. Very easy install. I'm looking forward to going to the range this Saturday to shoot them for the 1st time.
@@taz7173 Just ordered the same plate for my MP 2 CORE. I'll probably buy the 508 T in green for this pistol.Not sure what to put on my HK VP9 though. Both HD pistols that stay inside.

I just bought the 509t and put it on my m&p core 9mm and it looked awful and bulky. It sat high and wouldn't co witness with my suppressor sights. I'm sending it back and putting on the 507k.
Do 508T, not 507k which is designed for subcompact

Oh wow, I'm waiting to get my PDP and I have a 508T that I plan to install. This may sound petty and stupid and it's like comparing apples and oranges, but the 509 just looks too much like a toaster. There is a minimum level of aesthetics when it comes to almost any product. The 509 just looks out of place on the top of any pistol. Sorry, I just had to point that out.
I have a 4.5” full-size PDP. It is VERY blocky and toaster-like. Wouldn’t you want your Optic to match?

I got the PDP and 508T, and I think they're a perfect match aesthetically.

No one cares for the “action shots”. 1. They waste time (we fast forward thru them) and 2. Your audio for them is way too loud
Pretty disgusted with Holosun at the moment. Bought one for my Springfield XDM Elite Tactical OSP. The RMR plate provided will not fit the Springfield, Holosun doesn’t answer their support line and recommend email. I have not received a response to my email, plus Springfield is telling me there is not a plate specifically for mounting the 509T. So… buyer beware! Grrrrr
Not to be a jerk, but took me about 2 minutes to Google what the Croations use for a mounting pattern on their XDm's and also search and find out that holosun uses the standard RMR pattern. Getting "disgusted" by your own mistake is like being mad that your keymod grip doesn't fit on your m-lok handguard.
