Band-Maid has two wonderful singers Miku (Red Rose Rhythm Guitar) was their first lead singer ! She didn't think her voice was good enough for hard rock/metal music so she hired Saiki (Blue Rose) who has a great voice ! Miku does backing vocals now ! Their harmonies are off the chart ! Yes, they have vocals. Saiki, their lead singer, had surgery for throat polyps a few years ago, and the band is very protective of her voice. So they have engineered a break for her into the middle of their shows. They do some instrumentals, Miku will sing lead for a few songs, and Miku with also do her 'Magic Spell Time' MC routine. Then Saiki will come back on, and they'll do the rest of the show. Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band. Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. Poker shark and horse racing fanatic. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Definitely eccentric, possibly insane. Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors. A sweet, motherly woman who turns into a beast when you hand her a guitar. Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Completely unflappable. Frequently snacks between songs. Has been known to sign her banana peels and throw them to the audience. MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls. Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. Regards her band mates, especially Kanami and Miku, with bemused exasperation. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).
Good evening. Thank you for featuring BAND-MAID's From Now On. In addition to this, BAND-MAID's Instruments also include Onset and Without holding Back. These three songs were composed by Kanami to give vocalist Saiki's throat (she had throat surgery in the past) a break during live performances. All of the songs are highly praised as instruments, and I personally love them very much. You've also responded to LOVEBITES, NEMOPHILA, etc. Thank you for your interest in Japanese girl rock bands. Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and bad-ass musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. No need to blur Band-Maid official video's or official live video's. The band are really supportive of reactors and even watch them themselves. Yes they have a lead singer. Saiki the lead singer has had throat surgery in the past so the band are very careful with her voice. They play 2+ hour sets so to give Saiki a break around mid-set they do three things. 1. Play an instrumental, 2. Miku (rhythm guitar) takes lead vocals for a song or two (she usually has one track per album where she is lead vocalist) and 3. Miku will do her legendary and hilarious "Magic Time" MC set. Then Saiki comes back on to finish the set. Even though Saiki no longer needs a break nowadays, it's become more of a tradition. So yeah, they have a number of really cool instrumental tracks. Check out the live MV of "Onset" for another instrumental banger! Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. The idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!
THE best rock band on the planet, bar none but they are best experienced live. They have a handful of instrumentals, but most of their songs have lyrics. The lead singer Saiki is one of the best in the business.
Fun reaction. Band Maid has some metal influences, especially in their heavier songs. A lot of Punk influence too. The vocals are what I'd call high end pop. Excellent technically, just like the instruments. Check out Black Hole live. It's the second song on a two track video with Manners. The two songs are completely different so maybe you'll want to react to both.

My favorite band for the last 4 plus years. JK knows his stuff so listen to that dude. You should know that you haven't really heard this band until you have about 20 songs under your belt, because they're all over the map genre wise. In fact, once a genre walked up to them and they told it "I farte in your general direction" and then hopped away. Except Mincho, who followed them doing her cute little spinning dance thing.

New? Band Maid is 10 years old. The difference is that their management only bocked them for smaller venues. Then they asked them for an Us-Tour. When they immediatly overbooked, they added other and bigger venues. And there they had trouble with blackouts and had to improvise. And they put parts of their improvisation into their shows. No, they don't have one singer, they have two. Originally the founder of the group wanted to sing. Then they realised that her voice would be unable to serve as the voice. So they added a specialised singer Saki. At first she was always worried about her voice. Then she was operated but still she needs a pause in the middle of a show. Abd Miku realized that they needed a second guitar, so she had to learn guitar, and since they now have one of the best rhythm sections in the whole industry, zhey put their instrumentals in the middle of thr show to give Saki a break.
Oh boy, you have a beautiful journey ahead….try Rinne (MV) then Puzzle (official live) then take your pick….a lot of variety. If you want something gentle let me know! Ballad to pop to punk to hard rock to metal and many songs combining several genres

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Yes, they have vocals. Saiki, their lead singer, had surgery for throat polyps a few years ago, and the band is very protective of her voice. So they have engineered a break for her into the middle of their shows. They do some instrumentals, Miku will sing lead for a few songs, and Miku with also do her 'Magic Spell Time' MC routine. Then Saiki will come back on, and they'll do the rest of the show.

Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. Poker shark and horse racing fanatic. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Definitely eccentric, possibly insane.
Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors. A sweet, motherly woman who turns into a beast when you hand her a guitar.
Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Completely unflappable. Frequently snacks between songs. Has been known to sign her banana peels and throw them to the audience.
MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls.
Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. Regards her band mates, especially Kanami and Miku, with bemused exasperation. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and bad-ass musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up.
No need to blur Band-Maid official video's or official live video's. The band are really supportive of reactors and even watch them themselves.
Yes they have a lead singer. Saiki the lead singer has had throat surgery in the past so the band are very careful with her voice. They play 2+ hour sets so to give Saiki a break around mid-set they do three things. 1. Play an instrumental, 2. Miku (rhythm guitar) takes lead vocals for a song or two (she usually has one track per album where she is lead vocalist) and 3. Miku will do her legendary and hilarious "Magic Time" MC set. Then Saiki comes back on to finish the set. Even though Saiki no longer needs a break nowadays, it's become more of a tradition. So yeah, they have a number of really cool instrumental tracks. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. The idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

THE best rock band on the planet, bar none but they are best experienced live. They have a handful of instrumentals, but most of their songs have lyrics. The lead singer Saiki is one of the best in the business.
Fun reaction. Band Maid has some metal influences, especially in their heavier songs. A lot of Punk influence too. The vocals are what I'd call high end pop. Excellent technically, just like the instruments. Check out Black Hole live. It's the second song on a two track video with Manners. The two songs are completely different so maybe you'll want to react to both.

You should know that you haven't really heard this band until you have about 20 songs under your belt, because they're all over the map genre wise. New? Band Maid is 10 years old. The difference is that their management only bocked them for smaller venues. Then they asked them for an Us-Tour. When they immediatly overbooked, they added other and bigger venues. And there they had trouble with blackouts and had to improvise. And they put parts of their improvisation into their shows. No, they don't have one singer, they have two. Originally the founder of the group wanted to sing. Then they realised that her voice would be unable to serve as the voice. So they added a specialised singer Saki. At first she was always worried about her voice. Then she was operated but still she needs a pause in the middle of a show. Abd Miku realized that they needed a second guitar, so she had to learn guitar, and since they now have one of the best rhythm sections in the whole industry, zhey put their instrumentals in the middle of thr show to give Saki a break.
