@@MeteorReactsYT'Alone' was the first maid-written song accepted by the record company and 'Influencer' a superb recent contemporary rocker. Great bookend songs to sum up their first decade of writing 👌💪🤘🤘🤔
You gave a perfect analysis of this Band-Maid song. I am a longtime fan, and I just couldn’t grasp what they were doing here. This is an example of their dense and complex songwriting. It will take you 10 listens before you get a handle on what’s going on. But that is the reward for listening to BAND-MAID. They force you to be a better music listener.
Yes! Listening to a Band-Maid song for the first time, I try and take it all in, then again with the subtitles on, then again and again listening to guitars, bass and drums. Then I settle down to just enjoying it. Unless they bring out a live or acoustic version, where the process begins all over again!
thank you so much for the kind words, i sometimes feel like i ramble and talk nonsense, glad you enjoyed the reaction, it is for sure difficult to take everything in on the 1st listen, especially band-maid
It’s replay value. They work really hard to cram every song full of little details for you to find, and like 5 songs worth of riffs in one song. It’s like a huge flex from Kanami. Like, “Screw it, I have a million of these. I’ll play this one exactly once in the whole song.” Where a normal band would spread them out and hope they have enough to fill an album.
They’re constantly improving as a band and individual players. Part of their magic is that they’re always pushing each other to grow. It’s a common theme in their lyrics, too. Really inspiring band. I remember reading a comment about how someone would go to another rock band’s shows and leave wanting to flip over cars and destroy things, but leaving a Band-Maid show feeling like they could solve world hunger. They’re really special.
their music is special, i learnt that from the very first song i listened too, their live shows look crazy great, i just want to see them live already, feel like there are shows, but then theres band-maid shows which are a whole new level
💯. They are always pushing themselves to their absolute limit and that's why they just keep getting more awesome. And yes to the positivity factor too!!!
Band-Maid's music videos often use flames, but those flames are not CG, but real, blazing fire. And Saiki's sigh at the end of this MV is not a staged performance, but a real sigh of relief after the song is over.
they really go the extra mile huh? i love it, kinda reminds me a little bit of the my chemical romance song famous last words with the fire and the end not being staged
Great reaction and Akane serves up more rolls than a high end bakery. Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid, your helping spread the word about the best rock band in the world.
Their MV's are all excellent. Their live performances are all excellent. Basically, everything they do is excellent. MV's I'd recommend would be 'THE NON-FICTION DAYS', 'WARNING', 'MANNERS', 'DON'T YOU TELL ME', 'RINNE'.....I better stop listing them as I'm just going to list them all! Enjoying your reactions to THE best band on Earth. PS Listening to a Band-Maid song for the first time, I try and take it all in, then again with the subtitles on, then again and again listening to guitars, bass and drums. each song is definetly a repeat listen to to try to gather everything thats happening in the band, and what im finding with every band maid song i listen to i have it on repeat till the next one!
Hah! I put together my own list (two of them match yours) and I cut out "Choose Me" and "Endless Story" and "Bubble" and "YOLO" because it was getting too long. Oh! "After Life" should be in there! And "Sense!" And ... dammit, control yourself, son!
I was at the show in Chicago the day this dropped. During Miku’s first MC, she asked if everyone liked it….and then said they weren’t doing it that night. There was an audible “awwww” from the crowd. Lol.
Used as the closing theme for the second series of Netflix Anime Kengan Ashura. But the song has so many great little moments. Saiki is just vocally sublime. The instrumentals are spot on and as usual the drums just drive the song. Oh and Miku's backing is like the cream and cherry on top. Band Maid make a production out of every song. Great stuff.
this immediatly makes me want to watch kengan ashura lol didnt realize it was apart of an anime thats really cool, miku just melts me in the best way possible!
Yup. Miku gives the Band-Maid the distinctive Band-Maid sound, well it applies to everyone in the band, but she's a brilliant rhythm guitarist, like normally being a rhythm guitarist isn't that hard, but it is hard in Band-Maid because the composition involves multiple change-ups and tasty but tricky rhythmic style. Saiki does it with vocal and she's fantastic at it, but with Miku's backing vocal, the distinctive sweetness added to the harmony when their voice blend into one, is so Band-Maid. Even though the most talked about member is Misa, then Akane and Kanami, Miku and Saiki can't be overlooked. Everyone in this band is creative and happy to be inspired by the other members of the band, as a result the band evolve exponentially!
I love how Miku's backing vocals are panned left and right! Yes, the video is fire! Literally! Even if you've already seen a live version, you should watch the official music videos for *"Dice,"* *"Blooming,"* *"Manners,"* *"Daydreaming,"* and *"Rinne."* For good measure, check out the music video for *"Gion-cho"* (祇園町) by their rivals, Band-Maiko.
ive just learned that akane just goes hard in every song even going back to domination and unleashed which ive listened to 100+ times by now im still finding drum fills i never heard the previous listen
One of those songs that you have to listen too 4 times to pin point each instrument then another 1000 or so just to enjoy an appreciate the perfection/talent of these guys. Just a little more than pretty girls in maid outfits.
Yes, Shambles is the Akane show with special guest stars Kanami, MISA, Saiki and Miku. But wait! Was it really the Kanami show, because she wrote the song and played it with such forcefulness and exquisite abandon. Or was it the MISA show because without MISA, the rapturous drive of the song would be a ride on four flat tires. Or was it the Saiki show because she focused the sonic chaos into a song with melodies that could express Miku's lyrics like no other singer could. Without Saiki, Shambles might sound like a familiar instrumental. Or was it the Miku show because, damn, she wrote the lyrics, played the important rhythm parts, and added her unique brand of backup vocals that have become a defining "sixth instrument" of Band-Maid. So exactly whose show was it? It was the Maid's show, as usual! 🤘🎀🤘Thx, Meteor!
honestly after the first listen i truly believe this was the band-maid show, every single member had their time to shine and all played a crazy important part of the song, with the guitar work to backing to the drumming and the fills to transition into the catchy chorus, it was definetly a band-maid show
Really, you should go back to the beginning and do "Thrill" official MV ( an honest to goodness rock song) then "Alone" the first maid written song that gave us a look at what was to come, and you will see all the parts come together as they get better, but in every song, Band-Maid = happiness.
The Japanese metal/rock scene is the best in the world. The U.S. & The English may have been the originators of metal/rock, but the Japanese are perfecting it.
I don't disagree with those who say to react to their live videos, however ignoring their official MVs is, IMO disrespecting a major part of their creative catalogue.. as you can see from this MV, they put so much work and imagination into their MVs that they shouldn't be ignored. I'd suggest 'Warning' and 'Unleash' as a couple of examples. IMO, the perfect reaction would be to check out the MV and then check out the live.. Also be sure to check out their acoustic work (if you can find it), and their Band Maiko offerings. These ladies are so versatile and creative.. Kanami is a freaking genius..!! New sub here..!
thank you for the sub :D and yeah im gonna start doing some videos where im gonna react to the MV then the live straight after as a 1 video kinda thing, when i listen to live i miss out on the MV and vice versa just shows how great these ladies are!!
Every Band-Maid MV is epic in it's own way, try Warning!, Blooming or From Now On. Or you could check out the Maid's trainee Geisha alter-egos, Band-Maiko.
100% its nice to see bands where you can credit the the entire band for their individual talents, with some bands sadly some members get lost in the shuffle, not with band-maid!!
If the fast drums and intricate solos of "Hot for Teacher" (Van Halen) had a baby with the onion-cutting vocals of Cyndi Lauper, the baby would be Band-Maid. 🕊️❄️🍌🥷🎸. Also, the baby is Japanese.
"What do you even focus on?!" BAND-MAID gives you choices! 1) Drums 2) Bass 3) Rhythm guitar 4) Lead guitar 5) Extra guitar tracks 6) Lead vocals 7) Backing vocals 8) Keyboard tracks 9) Production embellishments & flourishes Unlike a lot of groups, ALL these are well worth focusing on individually during a listen - the problem is not being distracted by some other element stealing your attention 😊
Think the problem was what to focus on more on a first listen. Example misa impressed the hell out of me but when talking about misa arkane came with her drums. Haha it was quite something. Guess that's what makes a reaction a reaction right?
Listen to the guitar solo closely. Towards the end Akane and Misa step in to make it forceful. Then the song drops so you can relax before it returns to the original pace. Kanami is capable of a long blazing solo but she doesn’t. She writes them for each song.
Another reactor said in the past, that Band-Maid is one of the hardest bands to react to, because each member of the band steals your attention away from the other members. And I have a suggestion for you, for this you will need to open to windows of your browser. One will have this song, Shambles, open in, the other you go to Band-Maid's UA-cam channel, and click on "Releases", then scroll down to "YOLO", and when it open, click on "Unfair Game". Rewatch Shambles, and as soon as Saiki inhales at the end, switch over to Unfair Game and click play. It is just the audio, with no video, but once you hear it you will understand why I purposely edited the 2 song together one after the other, and it takes up the #1 spot on my current playlist.
I know you want more MV’s, but a great live performance would be “Puzzle.” I guarantee it will go right to your play list. IMO one of their most perfectly crafted songs. Good reactions so far, keep it up.
Thank you for the suggestion :D I will do more live stuff, think it's nice to just have the best of both :). The idea is to now do a few where I'm reacting to the MV then the live straight after
There is no denying it. They are quite simply the best rock band on the planet 🌎🤷🏻♂️
I'm definitely not denying it. And I'm only 5 songs in
I recommend Influencer MV. It is the MV released previous to Shambles. Epic bridge with some surprises
thanks for the suggestion, influencer is definetly on my radar, the more band-maid the better
For an official music video I recommend Dice, Influencer or Alone!
sadly i already know of dice, haven't heard influencer or alone yet so stay tuned!
