@4:35 "I need more." Ah, the oldest adage in the entertainment industry: "Leave 'em wanting more." They succeeded! @6:15 It was the singer's idea to write and include an instrumental specifically for opening sets at music festivals, to open the "Unleash" album, and to make a music video for it. She feels secure enough and admires her band members enough to suggest and support it.
One of the things that demonstrates how much of a family they are and how egoless they are is that it was Saiki, the vocalist, that wanted this song from Kanami. From what she has said she wanted a new impactful instrumental as an opener for their festival appearances and as the opening song for the Unleash!!!!! EP. I love watching the live performances of this song as well because I always get the impression that Miku, the least experienced musician of the 4, absolutely has a blast playing this song. Onset (live) is another fabulous instrumental.
Of course, there were lyrics, Kanami made the guitar sing)) Such tracks give the lead singer time to rest her voice, especially during live gigs. Very smart way of giving Saiki time to breathe and the same time showing off their chops
LOL.....a loss for words is a common issue for budding Maidiacs......yes...they are a "family"....best friends that support each other.....NO EGO'S.....every song allows each of them to shine at some point.....and shine is exactly what they do.....please enjoy your journey my friend....might I suggest "Moratorium" live at zepp tokyo.....satisfaction guaranteed......"po"
Your reaction to this song is why I watch reactions. Yes, I know exactly what you are saying. Heard “Thrill,” that’s a well written song. Unexpected bass and guitar solos. Cute theme. Heard “Choose Me,” not a let down at all. Another decent song with a catchy chorus. At least they play their own instruments. Still cute. Heard “From Now On,” what am I hearing? Who releases an instrumental as a lead track?! They aren’t relying on anything but the music!? This is not a song; it’s a composition! I got goosebumps. I felt where they were taking me. These are seriously special musicians. Here’s the best part. They have written a ton of incredibly interesting songs. Well balanced. No egos poisoning the well. I can easily name ten quality songs by Clapton, The Beatles, Eagles, Journey, even the BeeGees. After discovering Band Maid? I can easily name 40-50 songs of theirs that are worth listening to.
They have four (4) full instrumental songs and on their first instrumental song there is no MV... originally not included on any albums as it was supposed to be just live break for their live shows... Until, of course, it was recorded at one of these live shows. The performance of "Onset" became so popular on UA-cam they have now since decided to include their instrumentals in their catalog with MV's as well. In fact, I think that original recording of "Onset" live is still the only video of that song..
Great reaction and Saiki (the singer) said that she pushed for the instrumental to be the opening song on the album "Unleash", she loves the instrumentals as much as the fans. Also, they have about 4 more instrumentals to watch/listen to.
They’ve been creating instrumentals in the last few albums to give their lead singer a break during shows. The back up vocalist also has a song every album where she sings lead and they couple that with an instrumental mid show for the leads break. Additionally, they put out all instrumental DVD’s with their album that have videos of each song without lyrics and with cameras focused on each band member for fans so they can see how each part is played.
it gives the band members the space to show that a band is more than a singer plus some instruments, but the musicians are the heartbeat of a band? the signature?
If you you love instrumentals like I do, check out their "White Room" videos. I dont think they are on their official YT page but it's just the 4 musicians playing the songs with no vocals. You really get a sense of how great a music composer Kanami is.
These ladies have multiple instrumentals (Onset, and From now on).....some that you may also enjoy are the white backdrop versions....they were basically a instrumental version of their songs that have words (Giovanni is my fav) but I would save those as a 2fer....where you react to the song, and then can see the musicianship behind the words
Band-Maid is kind of like Doritos. Don't worry - they'll make more. I had heard "Onset" a year earlier and I was gob-smacked. I could not imagine them releasing any song that could be more intense and amazing. But then I saw "From Now On" and I wept. Band-Maid is more than the sum of their parts. They don't have one singular star; all of them are stars: together they have this incredible synergy, and they keep getting better and better.
Watch ONSET or WITHOUT HOLDING BACK for two other great instrumentals. You won't regret it. Kanami comes with most of the musical ideas but each member gets a demo and gets to work on their own part. Kanami has no ego and is concerned only with each song. The other members have no egos about their roles in the band either. Kanami likes to make sure everyone gets a chance to sign. They're all very good friends and really enjoy playing with each other and they truly appreciate their fans. Best rock band on the planet. Watch HATE? from Lalapalooza 2023 to see something really fun.
BAND-MAID / DOMINATION (Official Live Video) is the entry level mind blower video and BAND-MAID - Don't You Tell Me (LIVE at ZEPP TOKYO) is the jaw dropper
Saiki the lead singer has had throat surgery in the past so the band are very careful with her voice. They play 2+ hour sets so to give Saiki a break around mid-set they do three things. 1. Play an instrumental, 2. Miku (rhythm guitar) takes lead vocals for a song or two (she usually has one track per album where she is lead vocalist) and 3. Miku will do her legendary and hilarious "Magic Time" MC set. Then Saiki comes back on to finish the set. Even though Saiki no longer needs a break nowadays, it's become more of a tradition. So yeah, they have a number of really cool instrumental tracks. Check out the live MV of "Onset" for another instrumental banger!
When 4/5 of a band are enough to still be better than most (if not all) out there. 🔥🤘🏻 I don't know any other band that would even dare to release a video without their lead singer. And this wasn't the first time! They did it once before with 'Onset' a few years ago. :) _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Forever!"_ 」 - from *BAND-MAID* - 'Manners' 🎶🕊
I've seen them play this song live, in-person, a dozen times and I always return to this MV because of its dramatic effects. They do several instrumentals, some are "White room" MVs from their extended tracks on their Bluray/DVD offerings. If you compare the full band version (vocals) and "White room" version, they become 2 completely different songs, and you see the intricacy of their music composition, Po! It's a great journey you are on, and thanks for sharing it with us, Po! 🦍🍌
This band spotlights and respects every single member. Because of their heavy touring schedule, they add instrumentals and songs Miku Kobato sings to give Saiki a vocal rest. It's a shame they will never win a Grammy.
I know exactly what you mean. Band-Maid's ability to write and perform top level instrumentals separate them from the rest. This is one brave band coming out with instrumentals in an industry that is lyric driven, especially with the female fans. I think the last instrumental that charted was "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter back in the early 70's, long before the Clearwater radio monopoly when the radio industry was good.
Band-Maid released the whole Unseen World CD with instrumental versions of the songs. It's amazing to hear what the band sounds like without vocals. It's almost like an entirely different CD heard this way. Some sections are somewhat lean as they give space for the strong vocal melodies but the instrumentation is fascinating. They've also released some instrumentals for voiced songs from prior CDs as well. Band-Miad is the total package.
funny thing with BAND MAID, u can't cut one member without ruining the experience and then they do it : 4 of BM: u have a facemelting instrumental 3 : and you can see a little angel gets her wings ( Miku, Akane + MISA, "Sayonakidori" Acoustic Ver. (Official Live Video) ) 2 : Saiki and Kanamincho; u have a tear roling down ( Puzzle/ Anemone acoustik ) 1 : Saiki ( Choose Me | Solo Performance | Piano ver ) ; ur heard krumpels down and u cry!
Don’t worry bud. If you liked that , there’s lots more to choose from. Band Maid has many Instrumental videos. You just saw the last one. Try checking out some of the others. Giovanni , Without holding back or the first live instrumental Onset. There are many many more. Glad you’re having fun with this bands music. They are the definition of what good quality is. Keep up the good work with the channel👍
This is in your Top 5? Makes me wonder what the other 4 Band-Maid songs were! 😂 The Lollapalooza concert from Band-Maid is available on YT (no blocks as far as I've noticed) as either the full 12 song set, a single performance of HATE? and the double bill (as the 1st song segues very sweetly into the 2nd) of DICE/HATE? WEhich would I recommend? Well, those 3, I guess! But if you're going to do just HATE? then you'll miss out on DICE and the sweet Akane segue! Maybe keep the 1 hour as a special, say when you reach 20k...oh, you're there already so....yeah, definitely the 1 hour set! 😂😉
I will add to this....not the bands official and a bit better than a fan cam....the Hulu camera guys really pointed the cameras the wrong direction alot and the audio is a bit muddy.....but I still say it was better than almost any other band at lolla
Great reaction. I get what you are saying: Basically most bands don’t have the balls to have their rhythm section do their own video. Band Maid is the greatest band in the world right now, hands down. H
I couldn't put into words what was goin thru my mind the first time I heard this either. The first thing I thought of was that this is even better than "Onset". Top tier is correct. This will energize anybodys day. Then check out their other official YT instrumental ONSET-LIVE which cemented me as a BAND-MAID fan. Awesome is as Awesome does. Peace. 20.3
When I first got into Band-Maid in 2016, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! What surprised me was the fact that they were women! When I saw them live I was overwhelmed!! This has to be the best rock group on the planet
Thank you for your reaction. The instrumentals are well composed and often played live for the vocalist to take a break to rest her voice. The official live of ”Onset” is a good example. My suggestion on live videos will be the latest official live videos of ”Puzzle” or ”No God”. As for MV I suggest Blooming, Warning and Afterlife, as a starter. Have fun! :)

Great reaction. Instrumental music can reduce the burden on the throat at concerts and allow the vocalist to rest. and you can once again feel the greatness of their musicality, performance ability, and music.
Their first "Official" instrumental was Onset. They have also added, "Without Holding Back" and "Don't Be Long",. There is another one which was for a Radio DJ, but the name is escaping me at the moment. The Ladies have also released instrumental versions of their entire "Unseen World" album, that was available on a CD, ONLY for those who purchased the Score Book for Unseen World. On that, Giovanni got a "White Room" release MV.
“Live - which one?” Yes. It’s any official live video, or the Lollapalooza set is good too. But if you want specifics. I like the “dice & hate?” Double but the camera work is not great, sound is very good for a live recording. Official live videos: Domination, Play, Sense, Puzzle
They not only have 3 other purely instrumental songs, one with an OLV,.and one with a video on DVD/BluRay, but they also put instrumental videos of their vocal songs on DVD/BluRay. This is NOT a singer's band, this is a band with a really good singer.
This is my fave right now. Generally, my favorite Band Maid songs are those where the vocals are integrated in a way that they are two more instruments for the ensemble. Check out Black Hole Live or Blooming MV for examples. (Black Hole is the second song on a two song Official Live video with Manners.)
A strange way into BAND-MAID, through Shambles and the glorious From Now On. But not a bad one! You should try one of their distinctive high charisma songs. Domination (Live 2020) is good for that. The music videos for Choose me or Dice or Blooming would be great, too.
You cannot describe the legend that is Band Maid in just one video reaction. Great reaction, looking forward to your trip down the rabbit hole. From Now On isn’t just a song…it is an Anthem. Love the Maids, best rock band on the planet.
Of course Dice and Hate at Lollapalooza should be next. The real question is, should you react to the whole hour long show that starts with this song. Perhaps, a poll would be in order.
BAND-MAID have many instrumentals, starting with 'Onset' LIVE. For other OMV there's also 'Without Holding Back'. But there are also instrumental versions of their other songs, often played in a White Room Tutorial Format, with a video for each instrument separately, and a video of them playing the song all together. So you could conceivably learn any part of each song you want.
DICE/HATE? is good but just be aware the audio isn't post processed. :) Although, it was a Hulu broadcast. Real Existence LIVE or Play LIVE would be my suggestions.
This was Saiki, the vocalist’s idea. She’s actually in charge of what happens in the band. You should do ONSET live next for more instrumental awesomeness. When I saw them in Silver Springs they did Onset and From Now On one after the other. It was glorious.
The entire Lalapalooza sound mix is whack. Listen to the Yokohama concert for live videos. OR Freedom and/or Domination from a couple years back. Love me some Band Maid.
Onset is another official instrumental that is as good.
Akane is from another planet on drums, and if you try "Freedom" you'll see her perform a drum solo you'll remember.
One of the things that demonstrates how much of a family they are and how egoless they are is that it was Saiki, the vocalist, that wanted this song from Kanami. From what she has said she wanted a new impactful instrumental as an opener for their festival appearances and as the opening song for the Unleash!!!!! EP. Konami took over on vocals for this one!

Onset live is another good instrumental!🫶
Two other great instramentals they do are " Onset " and " Without Holding Back. "

Manners/Black hole are 2 songs in 1 video. It was part of an online concert, live but unattended by people. It shows the depth of their talent.

Would that be the poll where i say "Yes, yes he should"?
@@GaryHolloway-810 Why yes. Yes it is. Po!
Maybe you should hold a poll of your own. 😉
@@johnmatthew102 Trust you.😆
BAND-MAID have many instrumentals, starting with 'Onset' LIVE. For other OMV there's also 'Without Holding Back'. But there are also instrumental versions of their other songs, often played in a White Room Tutorial Format, with a video for each instrument separately, and a video of them playing the song all together. So you could conceivably learn any part of each song you want.
You will (Go Nuts ) with the white room videos . Great reaction / review , ty
A proper and accurate reaction. Well done!
DICE/HATE? is good but just be aware the audio isn't post processed. :) Although, it was a Hulu broadcast. Real Existence LIVE or Play LIVE would be my suggestions.
Masterpiece...❤
bassのmisaはピック持ちながらスラッピングするんですよ、これ出来る人、世界に誰がいますか??
This was Saiki, the vocalist’s idea.
She’s actually in charge of what happens in the band.
You should do ONSET live next for more instrumental awesomeness.
When I saw them in Silver Springs they did Onset and From Now On one after the other.
It was glorious.
Yes! Great explanation! Keep going
I’m enjoying your journey too 😊
Rock on, Sir! 🤘😎👍
This is even better live. Banger!
Greatthe reaction. I shall be watching your journey down the pidgeon hole. New sub here!
Cool!
Do the live Freedom. The sound on the Lalapalooza is bad and the camera focuses on the wrong artist.
The entire Lalapalooza sound mix is whack. Listen to the Yokohama concert for live videos. OR Freedom and/or Domination from a couple years back. Love me some Band Maid.
