2nd item is a water pitcher and 3rd is a brides or cake basket. Both are possibly made by Meridan Britannia who was a very popular silver plate company. I have the same cake basket! Be sure to check the markings underneath.

The silver basket with the handle is called a bridal basket. They were given to brides at their wedding to use for fruit, candy, nuts etc at the wedding dinner or breakfast ...what we would call a reception now

Realizing that we are now in the 2020's and that fridge is from the 1920's (and functional) is completely wild!
The GE Monitor Top fridge is awesome and in such wonderful shape.... I have a 1935 GE in my kitchen and it runs like the day it was new......MY gas range is a 1927 Glenwood Our Way made in Taunton Ma. They just don't make things the way they used to....They were made to last and stand the test of time....
The stains and wood dings and worn fabric is a part of an antique items story. They all have stories and history so if you can’t get the stains out of the marble, it’s ok, it’s a part of the story and charm that each item has. 😊
Forgive me if I repeat what someone else already wrote. The metal piece is a watch fob. To counterbalance a pocket watch in the vest. You’ll have to get a dandy wind up watch for your fob and fancy suit.
The old 1910 farm house we lived in most likely had lead paint. Didn’t know about lead precautions then. Sanded so much wood siding. Glad you’re taking care of your health

Fun fact about fainting couches. Well, might be fact might be fiction. I was watching a home tour given by a state ranger of an old plantation home in the south (it's an addiction I'm seeking help) and she was showing a fainting couch. To paraphrase her: people called them fainting couches because supposedly the women wore corsets tied so tight they fainted. First mistake, most women of the time didn't wear corsets because their clothes were home made and made to fit them, second mistake they didn't tie them any tighter than need be. Then what if they did need to faint, were they going to walk across the room to do so? Nope, the "fainting couch" has actually been around longer than that and it was for napping. Evidently (according to her) after the bed was made you weren't supposed to get in it again until bed time, thus if you wanted to take a nap, you needed somewhere to do it. Hence, the napping couch which was used by men and women. I haven't done any research to discover if this is true or not but she seemed pretty sure about it. She even called out her fellow guides for calling it a fainting couch.
And my Southern family they were always called daybeds.

There’s a misunderstanding about corsets. Some women did wear them so tightly, they did themselves physical harm but that’s because some people always overdo things. You weren’t supposed to wear them like that and most women had a more sensible approach. Saying that all nineteenth century women were damaging themselves with corsets and that’s why corsets were bad is like saying all women of the 1990s were damaging their ankles by wearing stilettos with every outfit or tanning themselves until they got skin cancer. It did happen but it wasn’t the norm.

In the south they are fainting couches. Let it get to 90°in heavy hot dresses and restrict your breathing. Plus fainting couch is so much more Scarlett than y'all would never understand. Like here women don't sweat. We glisten lol. Does it really matter at the end of the day whay your lady said? It's all in fun anyway these days. No self respecting southern belle would be caught napping. Come on y'all lol

I just love to see what you find or given also what you bought. I love any n everything old so I truly enjoy seeing what you have. I think it’s wonderful of all those people giving or donating so many wonderful items. It’s awesome! Love that old refrigerator now that’s so cool. As I’m getting to know you more n more I know it will definitely be used.
I’ve missed a few of you videos. My husband passed away last month just before Christmas n it’s been a little rough for me to get back on schedule watching you n Kim n a few others but wanted you to know just how I admire what your doing.

As a child in the 60's my family rented a little house on a ranch and there was a fridge similar to yours in the house. I can picture, in my mind, the bologna, milk and mayo in that fridge! Brought back some memories! So many beautiful things yes, but for me, I just love that fridge!

I forgot to paragraph the following:
I am looking forward to you instaling lath and plaster to the ceiling(s), that is one tough and taxing job. I suggest you put in staging and plaster from it, it is just too easy to - just one more reach- while standing on a ladder or using plasterer's stilts. You will probably need someone else to mix and send up the plaster to where you are working on the ceiling. The biggest hastle with lath is the spacing, then alternately angle the nails if you use them to attach the lath.
You may have to think or believe that you are Michelangelo painting the Sistene Chapel. He did not paint it with a paint-roller.
Loved your road show! I’ve successfully drawn stains out of Carrara marble by applying a poultice made from calcium carbonate mixed with water, covered in plastic wrap to keep it wet, and left to do its work overnight.

Kaleb, I have that exact same frog doorstop from David. I think it belonged to my grandparents.
Ha thats awesome. Its a really neat little piece. I think all of these amazing little items will add up and create so many interesting details to look at. Not to mention so many of them have such wonderful stories attached to them.
Caleb, the coffee pot should be pre heated with hot water before adding tea or coffee. Let the hot water sit in it for 10 minutes or more. This will keep the tea or coffee hotter longer.
I think that pitcher is actually for Coldwater.
@@danielulz1640 yes. it is for cold water the ceramic liner kept the water cold during hot weather before refrigeration.

Calib. It is so nice when you get things for free and know that you appreciate these items and will use them in the house. As for the refrigerator. The first time I saw one like that was on the show called " the waltons"

You need a 1880's to 1900 pocket watch to get in the spirit of the house. I actually use vintage pocket watches a lot day to day. It is easier to keep a pocket watch in your pocket watch pocket in your jeans sometimes then it is to wear a wrist watch. When doing house repairs or visiting the local junk yard for car parts and need to keep track of the time, it is much easier to take a pocket watch over carrying the cell phone (it gets left in the car or in a safe place at home) or wearing a wrist watch (which could cause your arm to get stuck)

It’s a shame they are seldom used any more. It’s funny that one of the reasons people give for not having and using them us they don’t have room when they square footage if the average home is much larger now than ever before. Entertainment styles have just simply changed.
I love the pattern on the fainting couch (my favorite). Hope you can bring it back to its "shine". Does make a great addition to the home. All of your findings are beautiful. We in our family have a couple of pieces from the era.

It was really neat to see that book by Clarence Day. His book was actually made into a film starring William Powell, Irene Dunn, Elizabeth Taylor and Martin Milner called "Life with Father" (1947).

I am so glad I watched this video as My Son and I are redecorating and stripping the wood work down. I hadn’t thought about the lead paint that could be under the years of paint layers. I have ordered a testing kit that will arrive tomorrow 👌🏼
I've always referred to the "badge" as "watch fob."
Right. It was put on the other end of the watch chain as a weight to hold it in the the other vest pocket, although some people hung it through a button hole and wore it showing like in the picture.
Keen Kutter made axes, knives, etc and are still in business IIRC...

Caleb, I have the exact same "cookie dish" as you described. It was my great-grandmother's (b: 1872). My mother said it originally had a glass bowl that fit on the piece's top and my GG would arrange flowers in it.
Love the fainting couch. I'd clean up the spot but definitely leave the fabric. It's gorgeous.
Exactly, or serving dish in its original use! You can still find the glass inserts in thrift shops.

Been watching the channel for a while now. Very interesting stuff. Love the passion for history. I dream of restoring a Victorian. Your a Higgins, I am too. My family moved from Missouri to colorado in the 1860’s. The first Higgins in my line arrived in 1690 in North America. Higgins means first of the Vikings.
11:00 Replacement cord, the original power cord on your GE Refrigerator was a non-polarized plug. For safety sake upgrade to at least a polarized plug confirming that ungrounded (nutrian Wht) and grounded conductors (hot Blk) are wired correctly to the polarized plug. Better yet utilize a 14Awg three wire cord with a ground pin (green wire) connected to the refrigerator metal frame. Use an ohmmeter to double check wiring. Be sure all your house outlets are wired correctly to prevent shock hazards (use an outlet tester) on all your house's outlets.

We had a iron antique parlor stove that was converted into gas. It had bricks inside that had been chipped into round chunks and those glowed thru the isinglass and looked like coals. They also contributed to the heat. I wish I still had that stove it heated the entire house better than anything I have had since. Besides it was beautiful.

I have that book by Clarence Day Jr, but I haven't gotten to that story yet! I just picked it up at a used book store! I love the movie Life with Father, that's why I picked up the book. I had no idea it had such a connection to this channel I watch every week!
I don't mind that this was a bit Antiques Roadshow like. It just made me think of one of my favorite Frasier episodes when Frasier, Niles, and their dad Martin realized they all liked Antiques Roadshow and they made a drinking game with how many times the word 'veneer' was said on the show.
