This is their one and only Disco song from 1979. Paul Stanley wrote it to prove it was easy to write a disco hit . They formed in 1973 and just retired in 2023.

Look, KISS was amazing for their time. But let’s be honest it’s not for everyone. I’m just glad they influenced my favorite guitar player Dimebag Darryl from Pantera. So we can all admit, there would be no pantera without KISS. My favorite KISS song is God made rock n roll. I remember hearing it on the movie Bill and Ted’s Bogus journey and thinking that song is epic. It took 20 years to figure out it was KISS 😂

This is probably the most "un-KISS" song you could have picked. This is their attempt at disco. Give Black Diamond a try 👍 And of course Detroit Rock City.
Not a huge Kiss fan but as others said this song is a stand alone. Supposedly they did it on a bet to prove they could write a #1 disco song. All that being said I think this is a great song.
@@Grizazzle Meh, semantics. Per Wikipedia..."I Was Made for Lovin' You" draws heavily from the disco style that was popular in late-1970s United States. In response, the band argued that lucrative disco songs could be written by anyone in a short time frame. The story goes that the song's demo was completed in mere hours after the bet. While the story is unproven, Paul Stanley, who co-wrote the song with Desmond Child and Vini Poncia, has stated that it was a conscious effort on his part to prove how easy it was to write and record a hit disco song.[5] Child confirms that he and Stanley wrote the verses together in an hour at SIR Studios,

There are some artists who would be playing music and writing songs if they were homeless (or at least seem that way), or some that would never do an (insert style) song/album because it just isn’t them. KISS seems like they’d have done anything to stay relevant. There is one story that perfectly sums up the impression KISS has always given me: In the mid-90s they hooked up with Alice In Chains’ producer to record what I think ended up being Carnival of Souls and came into the studio asking to “sound like the bald guy at the top of the charts”, referring to Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins. Like I said, I get keeping things fresh, but KISS might be the the least grunge band ever. To top it off, with the album almost done they got a nine figure offer to put the makeup back on and do the reunion, and dropped what they’d been doing for that. I’m pretty sure they just cancelled the album and it only came out because so much of it leaked the label just decided to release an official version.

Kiss was the KINGS of the rock bands from 1975 though the very early 1980s. They constantly sold out stadiums worldwide and had a true cult like following. They are, Rock-n-Roll, my Man! Great reaction. 👌👌👍👍
@@chrisoakley5830 One of their biggest hits ever? So what? "Disco Duck" was a hit. "Who Let The Dogs Out" was a hit. The "Macarena" was a hit. What do they have in common? They all suck, just like "I Was Made for Loving You" sucks. The difference is the first three were novelty hits that were done totally tongue in cheek. Despite what they may claim now, the Kiss song was a then-fading band's serious attempt to re-enter the popular mainstream by bowing to the culture of the day. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that if you can pull it off (for example, as the Stones did with Some Girls). But all Kiss did was take a basic, cliched disco rhythm and slapped some banal lyrics over it. Having been a Kiss fan prior to that song, to this day I cringe every time I hear it.
This is the only KISS song that I truly like. Their type of rock never really did it for me, but their stage performance is to be applauded. They went all out for their fans.
Kiss was inspired by shock rock artist Alice Cooper. Check out early recording of School’s Out by Alice Cooper (1972). Or his song I’m Eighteen (1971).
I saw them for my 3rd concert in 2023. They were in the second part; in the first, it was Crown Lands. They were touring for their End Of The Road World Tour, their last tour ever. I will always listen to KISS songs for their honor. KISS 1973-2023.
In my opinion, Kiss was a great act, awesome makeup, costumes, they had the best rock band look by far, no one could or ever did beat them in that. And this song was a decent song, but overall, I didn’t think they were that good. But that’s just my opinion.
They were not my cup of tea either, but I didn't dislike them enough to turn them off if they came on the radio. I also am not a fan of the Beatles. I was a bit too young for them.
I know a lot of people here are shitting on this song, but if you've ever heard them play "I Was Made For Loving You" live...that monster shatters every disco ball that was ever made. They CRUSH this song live!
I was not a huge Kiss fan, disnt dislike, was indifferent at the time. Now i realize, in my 60's, that i did like their music, just didnt know who did the song. Never seen them live either. Meaning never watched a live video of theirs. I will rectify that. Good lead singer and good musicians. Fun to go on this journey with you! Let's go!
Omg, blast from the past! I was just a tiny tiny little rocker but i've seen them live 🤘 they were old already then and i was like six or seven but i still remember the concert to this day 🤘
My very first rock concert 1982 this song what is in their disco error. They have so many hidden gems in their catalog that I think you would love. They have been around since 1973 their final tour 2023 2019 I seen them for the last time in my hometown then Covid hit over the years. I have seen them live about 25 times they were my top loved band when I was younger .
KISS busted out in 73/74. Check our earlier tunes like Strutter, Deuce or Black Diamond. Paul Stanley vocals/guitar, Gene Simmons vocals/ Bass, Ace Frehley vocals/lead guitarist& Peter Criss vocals/ Drummer (original line up).
I was a teenager when Kiss came out and we all thought it was bubblegum rock…for younger kids. We were into zeppelin, Uriah heep, Alice cooper, Nazareth etc🖖🏻🇨🇦
Wrong kiss song my friend..this one is out of the disco era. Nearly every band seemed to have give it their shot. Next try Duece, Black Diamond, Detroit Rock City, Love Gun, Calling Dr Love, Shout it out Loud, God of Thunder, Firehouse, Hotter Than Hell, I Still Love You.... Also, anything Kiss should be live. 🙂
Seen them in London Ontario in 76. One of the loudest, best concerts I have ever been to. Got to go backstage, try on the bass player (Gene Simmons) boot and partied with the band until the wee hours. Great time! Best night of MY LIFE!
As a long time member of the KISS Army, it's always nice seeing a young person's reaction to The Demon, Starchild, Space Ace & Catman. All KISS songs are great in my opinion, but if you want heavy KISS, check out Black Diamond, Detroit Rock City, God Of Thunder, I Love It Loud, and from the non-makeup era, Unholy. Rock & Roll All Nite And Party Every Day!

Yeah, they perfected the modern Heavy Metal sound in “She” live, 1975 The Midnight Special. This song was tongue in cheek. They wanted to show how easy it was to write a Disco song. It was a huge hit and became a dance/mix classic immediately!!

@@graziacagna7223 Yeah I've seen over 60 artists Metallica 3 times, Bob Seger twice, Rush twice,Robert Plant with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Pink Floyd, Prince purple rain tour, I would literally have to sit down and write a list 🤣 My first concert was Bob Seger 1980 and my last was Sarstock 2003 festival, you should check out some of the footage from Sarstock. 500,000 crazy Canadians for 13 hours. Epic to say the least
@@RockinMamaT WOOOOOW, DOUBLE WOOOOW...........
Kiss was the KINGS of the rock bands from 1975 though the
very early 1980s. They constantly sold out stadiums worldwide
and had a true cult like following. They are, Rock-n-Roll, my Man!
Great reaction. 👌👌👍👍
Don’t care what anyone says this is a banger!!!!
It sure is, call it whatever you want, but this song is one of their biggest hits ever.
Best disco song ever!
As Hesh Rabkin said on The Sopranos, "A hit is a hit!"
Was on nightly rotation back in the local roller skating rinks when it came out.
70s was its OWN time.
I am so excited that you're starting the Kiss journey!! 🤩
Kiss was inspired by shock rock artist Alice Cooper. Check out early recording of School’s Out by Alice Cooper (1972). Or his song I’m Eighteen (1971).
But best song from Alice Cooper is "Poison".
@@Urania111absolutely
I love this band.. and this partysong is great, be happy and dance! ❤️🔥🌟🎶 💚 🇸🇪
This is basically the equivalent of the song Jump by Van Halen.
The album is great... one of my fave kiss records and live this song was incredible
Agreed, not the song to start with! KISS is great!
@@theresagregoire5338 I might be the only one watchin...bcs I did like them in my teens which was the 70's ...my mom was afraid lol
It was their throw at the disco of the time.
Dr. Love is awesome btw👍
should have started with something from The Midnight Special to get a better idea of how great they were 👍
Good suggestion.
All the Midnight Special vids are great
I saw them for my 3rd concert in 2023. They were in the second part; in the first, it was Crown Lands. They were touring for their End Of The Road World Tour, their last tour ever. I will always listen to KISS songs for their honor. KISS 1973-2023.
lol at all the disco hate. its still rock and roll. its still metal. get over yourselves lads. this is a banger.
This is NOT metal!!!
I like it, but definitely not metal.
Glad you liked it mate , I’ve followed Kiss for forty years and you need to listen to more to get the full idea.
That's so funny- I am such a rocker/metalhead, but I always thought Kiss was just "ok" (and I happen to love this song by them lol)
@@markh.7650 Beatles not a fan either. Now I can appreciate the Beatles talent. But not what I grew up listening to.
I saw them in concert in '77, great stage show. I've never seen so many fireballs!
I know a lot of people here are shitting on this song, but if you've ever heard them play "I Was Made For Loving You" live...that monster shatters every disco ball that was ever made. They CRUSH this song live!
Absolutely!
The live version with the pyros at the end of the song!
You can feel it in your chest!
Exactly right, I was listening to Kiss Alive 3 the other day and the live version of this song is definitely a rocker.
Let's go!
This is NOT the first KISS song to react to. lol Its Disco. Literally anything else, just not Beth. KISS is a rock and roll band!
Beth has been my favourite for decades. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it a fact mate!!
Either way, Ace’s little solo is the shi**. Way too short, though.
One of their most popular songs!
It's so odd, this is literally always the first time introduction. It's like copycat syndrome.
I recall the whole "deception" around Beth.....The drummer killing himself, but he really didn't......
A 70s Glam Rock band you'd like is SWEET. Try "Love Is Like Oxygen" the long version 🎶 🎵
You should react to more Australian bands
Silverchair !!!
@@tracyrichards6545 oh yes sliverchair is awesome
Airborne 🤘
Wolfmother, INXS, Kings of the Sun, Tame Impala, of course more AC/DC, Men at Work, Jet, The Church
What about Midnight Oil?
Omg, blast from the past! I was just a tiny tiny little rocker but i've seen them live 🤘 they were old already then and i was like six or seven but i still remember the concert to this day 🤘
LOVE GUN ☮
My first concert was KISS live at Madison Square Garden, NYC, 1979. I was 11 years old at the time.
Pure entertaining Rock ! They put on a hell of a show
My very first rock concert 1982 this song what is in their disco error. They have so many hidden gems in their catalog that I think you would love.
They have been around since 1973 their final tour 2023 2019 I seen them for the last time in my hometown then Covid hit over the years. I have seen them live about 25 times they were my top loved band when I was younger .
Of all the songs from Kiss to react to this is one you probably shouldn’t 😮 sad but true ooo
YES
I agree, as an Aussie they were never my favourite, apart from Beth. They were a fluffy band, like Bon Jovi. Bubble gum music and not hard enough!!
Saw them in ‘76!! Incredible! Might put Foghat, Bad Company, & Nazareth on your list!🤘🔥
Anything Kiss should be live lmfao even their best live album isn't live just like most of their shows.
@@minners71 are you speaking of the entirety of their career? If so, I'd disagree .
Excellent choices
Seen them in London Ontario in 76. One of the loudest, best concerts I have ever been to. Got to go backstage, try on the bass player (Gene Simmons) boot and partied with the band until the wee hours. Great time! Best night of MY LIFE!
You could not have picked a worse kiss song! Haha but I’ll still give you the thumbs up for trying
WRONG CHOICE MOLLY. Detroit Rock City, or God of Thunder.
It's an amazing rabbit hole. This is tjr original lineup.
Paul Stanley Vocals
Gene Simmons Bass
Ace Frehley lead guitar
Peter Criss drums
60 ish years of playing and Gene is a marketing Genius, they're still packing royalties for their business ventures
Not what I would have started with, but... 😅 Detroit Rock City from KISS ALIVE II, 100,000 Years from KISS ALIVE, might be better choices.
MATE! This was Kiss’ venture into disco, at the time everyone said Kiss would never do disco. They also did “Beth”. Now that was a mindfuck for every member of the Kiss Army.
This is a terrible Kiss song to have a first reaction to. It should be Detroit Rock City
Exactly right
my thoughts exactly but I’ll give him a break, He’ll get to the good stuff
It’s a great Kiss song - one of their best.
Crazy nights 🎉🎉
Detroit Rock City the 2021 remaster. The drums sound insane and the mix sounds massive. So much better in my opinion
Someone challenged them to produce a disco hit. These guys were glam/heavy rock formed mid 70's. The highlight for me is the omnipresent bass line.
The worst track by the mighty kiss, try some early stuff, detroit rock city, deuce , God of thunder etc
Yeah, they perfected the modern Heavy Metal sound in “She” live, 1975 The Midnight Special. This song was tongue in cheek. They wanted to show how easy it was to write a Disco song. It was a huge hit and became a dance/mix classic immediately!!
