To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything is such a good movie. Kurt Russell, John Leguizamo, Wesley Snipes, all three playing drag queens stuck in a midwestern town. Such a great film.
@@donspafford414 the movie is actually slightly problematic, as drag queens take the costumes off when they’re not on stage or getting ready for a show. What is shown in the movie would actually be trans women. But, especially for the time it was as progressive as possible. And it’s a good movie.
You know how I can tell how much you enjoyed the action in this movie? I found myself counting how many times you both exclaimed “Oooooo!” during the museum fight scene.😮 Now that’s what I call a reaction. Fantastic job, you two.🎉
Sylvester Stallone starred in Cliffhanger immediately before this, then followed this up with The Specialist. Sandra Bullock followed this up with Speed, while Wesley Snipes has also starred in White Men Can't Jump, Passenger 57 and U.S. Marshalls. Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in Last Action Hero around this time as well. Another police action film starring Sly to watch is Tango and Cash. Edgar Friendly is played by Denis Leary, who's also been in The Sandlot, The Ref, the Ice Age film series and the drama series Rescue Me. This took partial inspiration from the Aldous Huxley novel Brave New World
Glad Wesley reconsidered because he initially turned down this role. The producers finally convinced him to do it, which is great because he absolutely killed it.
The explosion and demolition of the building at the beginning of the movie is real, no CGI, no miniatures, 100% real building, in the 90s it was very common that productions filmed in a real way those scenes, in Lethal Weapon 3 they also made a real building explode and fall, I also remember that in The Fugitive with Harrison Ford, they derailed a real train, that's why I miss this level of productions more played to the real thing.
Only part of that scene was a real train, the rest of it was a model, but yeah, it definitely added to the realism of the scene. You can tell which parts are REAL real, and which are the model though.
They would find a building scheduled for demolition and get permission to blow it up to film it. Last real example of this I can think of is The Dark Knight, though I'm sure it must have happened since.
Interestingly enough Stallone was told by the lead writer how they work. Apparently 2 are used for pulling out the poo(you hold them both together) and third is used to scrape off what is left.
@@thewatcher3429 they had bidets back in the 80s. I wouldn't be surprised if they just had a better version of the bidet, with the 3 seashells just for looks

As the father of an 80's child we laughed at things like the 3 Sea Shells and moved on. Comedic smoke - good for a laugh. Explanations take up time best used for story and character. :P
What a great yet underrated sci-fi/action/comedy movie this was! Back in the day, we thought the commentary was over-the-top (which was making it funny) and that there was no way we would ever get there... and then 2020 happened and we realized how prophetic this movie was in many ways.
As Roberto Fontanarrosa (Argentinian writer and comedian) said "there's not such thing as bad words, there are words charged with bad intentions". Free speech!!! Loved the reaction guys.
This is how the 3 sea shells work. Pressing the first sea shell activates the water, like a bidet, to clean. Press the second one to dry the buttock. Press the third one to receive a spray that is both fragrant, so you don't stink, and sanitary to prevent the spread of germs.
I've always remember the Demolition Man Taco Bell ads in fall of '93. I was so excited to see this movie and it didn't disappoint. One of the best and most fun Sci-Fi action films ever made
I actually Worked at Taco Bell when this movie came out! 😂 We had T-shirts that we wore to advertise the movie, I think. We had several T-shirts for different movies during my time at the old Taco Bell. I worked there in 1988. I had several decades working there. Part-time and full-time. I've been gone for a few decades now. 😁👍🏻
OH MY GOD, one of my favorite movies. I know it's silly but this movie had such an impact in my childhood. It was the first time I saw a male character in a "macho" action movie using colorful outfits, cool hair, DIFFERENT COLOURED EYES??, being fashionable and not stereotypically what you would imagine a character in this type of genre would look like. Many years later I'd come to find out more about my gender and whatnot, but this character, Simon, never left my mind. This movie even touches lightly on topics of masculinity and whatnot. Funny how the things we watch stay with us in different ways, huh? Anyway, I hope you like this movie. It's absolutely a fun time. It used to air all the time here on Brazilian Tv afternoons.
Wesley Snipes rocked in this! So many things we watch when we’re young can leave a mark on us forever. We’re so glad we got to cover one of your favorite films! ❤️
Great comment! Glad it had a positive influence for you taking some fun style cues from the villain it sounds like. Like a lot of kids are doing today with Jinx from Arcane maybe? I found it interesting that there are some rants against this movie saying it is anti-gay and extremely pro-cop / conservative etc.? I didn't get that from the movie, I mean, what about the lines like "this is how insecure heterosexual males communicate etc.? And Spartan's mini speech at the end to Friendly and the young ex-cop about "Hey maybe meet somwhere in the middle... and work it out," seemed quite reasonable advice.
Ha! I loved this movie when it came out. If you enjoyed this I highly recommend Universal Soldier with Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. Absolute classic action of the same era, similar vibe. So good.
I remember when this first came out. They literally demolished a building in downtown Louisville (Ky) as a promotion for the movie (I "think" MTV promoted it at the time... forgive me it's been over 30yrs and my memory isn't the best lol)
MTV promoted it, and their sports presenter Dan Cortese had a bit part as the entertainer at Taco Bell and as one of the guards at the cryo prison. Look out for a dark-haired dude with slicked back hair and a small ponytail.
Hearing Stallone call Nigel Hawthorne's character "Spacely Sprocket" was so good. Also, if you'd like more practical effects, I'd suggest 'Backdraft' from 1991.
To add to Ari's rant: It is not just that but it's also UA-cam having to answer to its advertisers. Like, the word (self)unaliving. It has been put forward that Millennials or Gen Z invented that word because we are too sensitive to words like d13 or su1c1d3 (yes, had to resort to 1337 speak) but rather it's advertisers that do not want to have their ads play in videos which contain words like these. So I am completely with you, Ari, it's messed up for sure. Whether YT is infringing on its user's 1st amendment rights by doing this, or if we just have to deal with it because it is YT's right to do this on its own platform, well, that's a discussion for lawfolk, I'm just a lay person here. ... Anyway, getting past that, I loved you guys' reaction to this movie, as I do with all the reactions I watch (I hope you understand that I generally do not watch reactions to stuff I haven't seen yet (or games I haven't played yet on your 2.0 channel)), so I am really looking forward to the next one. @@RandomStuff-he7lu To quote myself: "well, that's a discussion for lawfolk, I'm just a lay person here. ..." But thanks for pointing it out nevertheless.
It's the attention to detail that really makes this a fun film. It's a subtle detail in the background, no matter where the characters are, if there's a verbal morality machine somewhere, you can hear it in the background when someone swears! I'd absolutely be broke if they were real and installed in every city and building 😂

Related to that: the machine addresses the offender by name ("John Spartan, you are fined..."), but since Phoenix has no chip, it just says "You are fined..."
One of my Favorite Movies. And the "Foul Language Beep" Running Joke is the best ever! The more you watch the Movie, the more Beeps you recognize in the Background 😀
There is a deleted scene where you find out what happened to his daughter. She lives underground with the Scraps. They were supposed to meet her after they started talking to Edgar and find out he was an alright dude.
This is a batman movie. You have the hero with the side kick seeking action. The police don't like him, but he does the job his way. Has gadgets, underground boss, a joker like villain. Love it!
16:55 In case you guys are wondering, the major reason John Spartan kept cursing at the machine, because he really needed the "toilet paper"😂 He didn't know how to use the seashells so he collected those tickets as toilet paper, just a little FYI😅
There was a deleted scene where John Spartan runs into his daughter in the underground. When Phoenix attacks the underground she is seen hiding under a table taking shelter from the gunfire.
Great movie and review! Some parts of this world is turning out to be like this movie. Small pockets of society being extremely offended by such small things. Look at comedians now, they have to be very careful of what they say and do.
My favorite Stallone movie. Some trivia - The movie crew redesigned the Taco Bell logo for a futuristic setting. Taco Bell loved the design so much they bought it and used it for several years. Spartan does in fact meet his daughter. They meet shortly after running into Edgar down in the sewers. The scene was cut due to run-time. When Simon attacks with his henchman, he is interrupting their reunion and when Spartan dives for cover he's protecting her.
Proof that 80's-90's style action movies would still do great today (and that a wide audience is actually craving it) is the recent box office success of Top Gun: Maverick, which was kind of unexpected as a sequel to a 80's movie and which many were sceptical about its potential quality.
We touch upon that slightly in the discussion, it's interesting how even in a society that supposedly fixed crime, that nothing is being done about the poor and homeless...
@@OfficialMediaKnightsGiven that the writer wrote Heathers and the director was known for art installations before this movie, I wonder how aware Stallone (famously right wing action icon) was of the social commentary aspects of the film.

Listening to you all speak about the limitation that UA-cam uses was eye opening.
Overall, I love your reactions for movies and how you break down the story-telling that the cinematography, writing, and acting choices bring to these art forms.
Always wanted to have someone round my house but replace the toilet paper with the 3 sea shells just to see 😂
We now need 3 sea shells just to have as decoration and a sweet reference haha
Only 8 years left for us to catch up to the technological wonders of this film.
HA, the US wont last that long.
What's your boggle 😊
@@endling_king960 Considering current Geopolitics and Climate Change-induced migration and environmental devastation, organized society in general may not last that long.
@@SilentBob731 god i hope so
I used to watch this daily as a kid growing up , my favourite 90's movie by far.
Heck yeah! Always cool seeing so much love for these. We’re so lucky we’ve got an awesome crew recommending some bangers. This one was a fun watch 😃
The 3 seashells is absolutely the best audience trolling in any movie I've ever seen.
How about "Pulp Fiction" brief case?
Remember watching this with my parents at night back in 1993. Wesley Snipes makes a hilarious villain!!
Yeeesss, he was brilliant in this, loved the sass and badassery!
Life's greatest mysteries, "are we alone in the universe" and "how to use the three seashells "
Loved this movie since i was a child, if you want to see a totally different side to Snipes please give " To Wong Foo thanks for everything Julie Newmare" ago, its a millions miles away from his known action rep but its a very wholesome moive.
Oh that sounds awesome, thank you so much for that recommendation!! Adding it to our list!
Unfortunately, that "wholesome" culture are frequently registered sex offenders.
@@OfficialMediaKnights And "Major League"!
I found myself counting how many times you both exclaimed “Oooooo!” during the museum fight scene.😮
Now that’s what I call a reaction. Fantastic job, you two.🎉
"The guy wants to take me Taco Bell?" I have seen this film a hundred times and still don't understand the seashells. 😂

Another great Stallone flick is "Cobra"
"Maniac is imminent." 🤣🤣🤣
Maniac has responded with a scornful remark
@@mike91mdk45 😢😂😂
This is what made Dennis Rodman start doing his hair like snipes from this movie 😂
I always wondered if the character of Phoenix's style was based on Rodman, so its so funny if in reality it was the other way around 😂
"RAT. This is a rat burger?" *Takes another bite* "....Not bad! "
One of my all time favorite flicks.
This took partial inspiration from the Aldous Huxley novel Brave New World
Tango & Cash is my favorite Buddy Cop film of all time, the RV From Hell is a dream build of mine.
@donspafford414 mine would have to be Red Heat
Tango&Cash is the best. You need to watch it! "We need to pay a visit Jabba the Hut here" "I'll bring the chainsaw" "I'll bring the beer". XD
@@Yavanna79 I have it on digital and I've seen it a number of times. I just prefer the leads in Red Heat
Watch *Soldier* now with Kurt Russel! 🔥
More Stallone films plsss! Cliffhanger, Over The Top, Cop Land, Daylight, Judge Dredd!
Nice list.
Copland would strike them hard.
nah, not necessary
yeah,.. Cop Land would be touching,..
Tango and cash😊
Dont forget Assassins or The Specialist. Loved Assassins with Banderas
Glad Wesley reconsidered because he initially turned down this role. The producers finally convinced him to do it, which is great because he absolutely killed it.
This and Last Action Hero are vastly underappreciated.
Terminator 2 also had a real building being demoed, 2 years earlier.
Be well Media Knights and have a Joy Joy Day!
Have a joy joy day yourself and be well! 👋🏽
To this day, people are still discussing on social media how the 3 shells are used. I don't think there is a consensus. LOL

It was so cool to find the three seashells in the toilets in Cyberpunk 2077, but still no answer 😁
As an 80's Child, I truly feel like John Spartan...
The last generation of feral children. I'm with you.
As the father of an 80's child we laughed at things like the 3 Sea Shells and moved on. Comedic smoke - good for a laugh. Explanations take up time best used for story and character. :P

Why? Because it’s no longer socially acceptable to say nigger and faggot?
You guys should watch “The Last Action Hero”
What a great yet underrated sci-fi/action/comedy movie this was!
Back in the day, we thought the commentary was over-the-top (which was making it funny) and that there was no way we would ever get there... and then 2020 happened and we realized how prophetic this movie was in many ways.
As Roberto Fontanarrosa (Argentinian writer and comedian) said "there's not such thing as bad words, there are words charged with bad intentions". Free speech!!! Loved the reaction guys.

Southern California is always on fire. 😂
Hopefully not to this extent!
One of the best and most fun Sci-Fi action films ever made
Facts!
Y'all got to watch Speed and the Fugitive for more 90s goodness.
When was Dennis Rodman playing basketball? lol
That is so cool! Wonder if there’s a clip of it somewhere online.
I'm old enough to remember this too. I think i was around 20 at that time.
MTV promoted it, and their sports presenter Dan Cortese had a bit part as the entertainer at Taco Bell and as one of the guards at the cryo prison. Look out for a dark-haired dude with slicked back hair and a small ponytail.
"It would have been more humane to stake me down & leave me to the F'n crows." Always been one of my favorite lines. Great reaction 🤘
Another film I would love to see you react to that stallone stars in is
DAYLIGHT ❤
Great one!!!
I love how the John Spartan and Lenina Huxley names are references to "Brave New World."
I see you're on the future dystopia kick, then consider 'Equilibrium' - an underrated classic with Christian Bale!
It’s terrifying how close to reality they got to predicting the future.
One of my favorite movies - great cast, great action, great satirical comedy and scarily prophetic!
What a bundle of a film! Had everything we were hoping for and delivered it in such a fun way.
Hearing Stallone call Nigel Hawthorne's character "Spacely Sprocket" was so good.
Also, if you'd like more practical effects, I'd suggest 'Backdraft' from 1991.
Yup, they'll enjoy Backdraft, big time!
The best running gag is that they never reveal how to use the three seashells 😂
We will never know…😂
This movie predicted where we are better than any other.
OMG YES! I haven't even watched the video yet, but for the longest time this was my favorite movie.
It’s such a fun movie! We’re so glad we checked it out 😃
To add to Ari's rant: It is not just that but it's also UA-cam having to answer to its advertisers.
Loved your interview I recently saw on another channel. Keep up the good work, guys. :)
You don't have a First Amendment Right on UA-cam.
@@RandomStuff-he7lu To quote myself: "well, that's a discussion for lawfolk, I'm just a lay person here. ..."

The entire movie is a prediction of how political correction is over taking us. So accurate 😅
It's the attention to detail that really makes this a fun film. It's a subtle detail in the background, no matter where the characters are, if there's a verbal morality machine somewhere, you can hear it in the background when someone swears! I'd absolutely be broke if they were real and installed in every city and building 😂
Same here man! We already have our own “machine” with the way YT censoring has gotten these past few years. If it was enforced in our daily lives we’d be broke too 😂
Wait for about ten years.... it's coming.
@@OfficialMediaKnights Seriously, I know what you mean. It's like you say the wrong comment and someone tells you you're not fun at parties. What's the world coming to? lol
Related to that: the machine addresses the offender by name ("John Spartan, you are fined..."), but since Phoenix has no chip, it just says "You are fined..."
this was peak 90s action, ridiculous, over the top, with just the right amount of campy cheesiness. man i miss movies like this.

We live in the world of demolition man already
A world without spicy is a world not worth living in!
Love this movie and Sandra Bullock plays this part fantastically. She makes the world feel real.
Love it!
Miss those kind of movie, just pure entertainment.
This was pure fun! Some great action too 😃
16:55 In case you guys are wondering, the major reason John Spartan kept cursing at the machine, because he really needed the "toilet paper"😂
He didn't know how to use the seashells so he collected those tickets as toilet paper, just a little FYI😅
There was a deleted scene where John Spartan runs into his daughter in the underground. When Phoenix attacks the underground she is seen hiding under a table taking shelter from the gunfire.
When this came out, some people were saying that Simon Phoenix performance was a good sign that Snipes should get the role of The Joker
For 31 years it has remained a mystery to me how to use these shells?
you guys are the first people I've seen recognize the foreshadowing about his head coming off. outstanding attention to detail :)
"what can I say, I am a blast from the past!"
So many awesome lines in this movie, it's just too quotable to resist!
Proof that 80's-90's style action movies would still do great today (and that a wide audience is actually craving it) is the recent box office success of Top Gun: Maverick, which was kind of unexpected as a sequel to a 80's movie and which many were sceptical about its potential quality.
Amazing video 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 as always !
Thank you so so much, we appreciate you!!❤️❤️
I like that you guys know when to react and when to let the movie breathe unlike most other reactors.
This movie is probably closest to predicting what kind of society we have become.
Scarily prophetic
We touch upon that slightly in the discussion, it's interesting how even in a society that supposedly fixed crime, that nothing is being done about the poor and homeless...
No, it's to show a totally right wing 1996 and totally left wing society in the future does not solve all the problems
@@OfficialMediaKnightsGiven that the writer wrote Heathers and the director was known for art installations before this movie, I wonder how aware Stallone (famously right wing action icon) was of the social commentary aspects of the film.
@@OfficialMediaKnights It's the equivilant of far-left "safe spaces". Just ostriches with their heads in the ground, ignoring reality.
