Thank you for doing this video. I noticed that it is the only video about barbour liners
That’s what we’re trying to do, fill in the gaps. thanks!
Wow! Perfect for the cooler months coming! The zip-up looks very slim as well, so it doesn't make you look bulky. Thanks for this video!
I have a liner for my Bedale which works really well, I'm currently looking for one for my Vintage 80's Northumbria at present, but have found using a Chelsea quilted jacket under it works fantastic when it's really cold, makes a nice combination, and keeps your arms warm too ;-)
Omg!!! The Beaufort liner looks so cozy!!!
Love the intro 🎹
Good video. Interesting to know Barbour used to do a faux fur liner in the 90s!
They’ve been doing it since the 60s or earlier I think
@@WaxandTartans Very true- I bought my first jacket in 1968 and it had a removable faux fur liner
I wish i had one of those coats!
Very informative, thanks.
Haha! "Sorry Steve!" 🤣🤣🤣
Great video, well presented. Which hood do you have on your Bedale, the classic hood or storm hood?
Great vidéo thx for that bro
Does the fleece liner work with the bedale? I’m thinking of getting the snap in fleece liner rather than the zip in for my bedale.
Good review,, which size is your bidale ??
Just perfect, I would like the sleeves a 3/4 of an inch longer.
Thoughts on the 2nd liner (warm pile zip in) he showed and how warm it keeps you? It can be around 20F where I live
I think with proper layering, having the pile liner in your coat would be sufficient. In London, temp rarely falls below 35F, but when it does, the warm Pile Liner makes it easy staying warm.
You choose the fleece more if you are active as it can pull the moisture away from your body. The quilted ones not to much - the same as why you might choose to layer a fleece with a shell vs a down gilet with a shell. It's most used if you are intermittently active, so active hike, then stop for a bit, the fleece will serve you better - obviously your layers neat the skin need to be on point too.
Did you take one size smaller than your normal size ?
I ordered the Ashby wax and I'm about to receive it soon. I didn't know about the liner. I hope it is provided with the jacket
They’re sold separately
What liners could be used for a classic Badale? Only with zippers, right? I don’t see pop ins inside the jacket...
That is correct!
I baught the flees yellow one for my bedale , more warmer🎉
But it doesn't snap in to a bedale? Only zipper is compatible, no?
So do you match sizes (shell to liner), or do you downsize the liner?
Match
But don't the lining quilted vests have an inner pocket? I remember trying one at the store and it did have it.
I was recommended by the young lady at the Barbour store to get the Polarquilt, which is the warmest. Not sure if it has an inner pocket.
To me the inner pocket is a nice addition because the Beaufort doesn't have one, and I wish it did.
I have the Polarquilt liner, and can confirm that it does indeed have an inner zippered pocket at the lower left.
My Beaufort & Bedale are the 44". My next purchase is the Northumbria, do I buy the 46" & add the polar liner? Or do I buy the 44" still? & add the liner. I'm wondering how much room the liner removes in the fit ?? Cheers, Jodi.
I would say go with the size of the jacket as they are built for the liner to be added. Or if you want, go one size up
@@WaxandTartans Awesome, thanks. I have subscribed to the channel.
How cold can it get where you are located? Would help me determine what liner to buy.
It’s can get cold, but never usually below freezing for long. 5c is the coldest on average in England.
fleece is for active to wick. quilted for more static.
Are there any generic brand liners for these jackets? I have a Bedale I'd like to warm up
I’m not sure but the Barbour ones are the ones designed to fit.
Dear Sir,
I have a classic beaufort jacket in size 44 and I want to add a polarquilt waistcoat to it.
I was thinking to purchase it in size L, do you think it is the size that I should take ?
In order to give you complements of information about the different size that I take at Barbour I also have the Winter Ashby in size L.
Thank you in advance for your reply.
Yours sincerely
Go one size smaller for the liner
what size of liner is that, I just bought a Size 34 Bedale, is it like for like in terms of size
Yep, go for the jacket size with the lining.
@@WaxandTartans cheers mate
Which Barbour model of liner is the first one?
Barbour Quilted Waistcoat/Zin-In Liner 👍🏼
Is the liner for bedale is save you from cold?? Thx
It does help. They’re not the warmest things on earth but they help.
What model is your brown 90s Barbour? I love it 😍
That is Miko’s Beaufort
@@WaxandTartans is it available to buy anywhere?
Probably eBay is your best bet.
@@WaxandTartans OK thanks for your help. I found a similar one in pretty bad condition but the tartan lining was different so I guess I'll keep searching!
The jacket looks like slightly small!! Or maybe the liner
which one is warmer
Warm Pile Liner will keep heat in better 👍🏼
@@mikomichael3665 🙏thank you for your help
What color is your bedale?
It’s Olive
How to clean and store your wax jacket?
Cold wet sponge, wipe down the jacket. Let dry and hang up or fold.
fur would be ideal
How to choose the size of the liner? The same size as the jacket?
Yes, same size as the jacket.
Witch liner is more hot?
Fleece
@@WaxandTartans not the tartan one?
@@karimlamatt5303 the orange/yellow fleece is warmest.
@@WaxandTartans thank you
Its OK but you need a larger size jacket. Does fashion really dictate that so many people wear Boarbour utility jackets a size too small? So often I see tall guys with sleeves 3 inches plus way too short. This is apparent especially with the Beaufort.
It’s personal preference with everything. It doesn’t matter if someone wears it differently than others and Miko here lives in the city so doesn’t need it for its “original purpose”
Please don’t gatekeep. Let others wear it how they want.
Unfortunately, the liner does not keep your arms warm!
Would be great. Like old military issue ones.
That was a poor designer. A real designer worthy of the title would have duplicated the inner pocket rather than take away functionality. I wish they had a long sleeve liner, be easier to keep the jacket clean by being able to machine or hand wash the liner of the sweat. I am also used to sleeved liners on military jackets.
