I've just bought an olive Ashby in a medium and already have a sand coloured one in large.
The medium one is a good tailored fit and with it being knew the hand warmer pockets are quite thick.
I'm about 12 1/2 stone with a 41" chest and it's a perfect fit with just a tshirt underneath.
Polyester is used in sleeves by many outerwear jacket brands including Barbour, so that one's arm glides/slides through the sleeve easier while wearing layers of clothes underneath the jacket. The Ashby's sleeves have a tapering cut, so the polyester lining helps prevent bunching - - It's also a cost saving measure, even for premium brands.
Why is not used in bedale? Even Bedale SL comes with no poliester sleeves
@@juanandreso2349 I think they simply refuse to change the overall anatomy of their older jackets. Bedale and Beaufort were designed with a certain utilitarian aspect in mind and they want to honor their legacy by keeping everything (including the tartan sleeves) the same over time. And literally no one can deny that cotton sleeves make the jacket MUCH more versatile because you can wear them in higher temperatures.
Just picked up an Ashby in Olive and a Lightweight Ashby in Navy. All bases covered there I think. Superb jackets...
There is a lightweight version of the Ashby jacket?

Best thing about the Ashby is the brass coloured bottom closers, which I could put them on my bedale
fits nice looking into the barbour sander navy this one seems clean nice fit
Lots of hate for the Ashby. Not sure why? I wanted a smart coat for going down the pub. Perfect for that, also wear it dog walking, could wear it shooting if I wanted. Really nice fitted coat that goes well with a shirt or a smart fleece.
I think half of it is just band wagon hate, but I really don't like it (doesn't mean its a bad jacket though)
Hey good video, I’ve bought a large in the Ashby… what size liner would you recommend? 40? Or 42?
Brought an Ashby in olive but looks more brown that this one displayed? Anyone else find this? Or should I have brought the sage ?
Hi. Can I ask what colour this example is please? The current colours Barbour offer are navy, black or Olive. The Olive has a black collar, but this looks to have a brown collar (plus looks greener to me) Seems to be many different permutations and I’m getting somewhat lost by all the choice…😫

I've got the blue version and the poppers are blue so don't stand out as much. Agree re the sleeves but the fit is excellent and have never had an issue with the zip

So would u recommend a large for yourself ? I’m a similar build but worry the body of a large would be huge as I’m a 39 chest but a mediums arms are just slightly too short for me.

What do you think about getting a Beacon Sports Jacket for $355 USD vs a Lutz for $255 USD? Is the Beacon worth getting if I want the closest thing to the To Ki To? I kind of like the look of the Lutz better sometimes...
Yes, beacon is better. But lutz is a good jacket if you want a more structured jacket.

usually no. bigger chest, longer jacket.

Do they also make sailor coats at Barbour?
They’re made with sylkoil but rewax it with thornproof a few times then it’ll smell nice. Barbour don’t make sailing gear anymore unfortunately

A few inches difference. If you’re a 38” chest then a medium would work fine

I find the polyester sleeves to be more practical when wearing a suit underneath.

I’m the same height. Try a Bristol as they are longer but the same slim profile. If you want a more traditional less tailored fit and a long jacket try the Border
