Another difference I forgot to mention is in materials the jackets are made of. Classic Beaufort: both outer and inner made from cotton. Original Beaufort: outer is 100% cotton and inner is 82% cotton and 22% polyester.
My Beaufort jack has a 100% cotton liner. I bought it in 2023. This is the Beaufort jacket, not the Classic. My Beaufort is great for brush busting in the woods and is a tough jacket. Fit is roomy, and I like the weight.
Classic are the ones to go for, with chest sizes in inches. Not s,m,l, Proper brass two way zips and have chest tolerance between 8 and 10 inches to allow for layering for different seasons ,even in cold weather here in uk ,most I'll wear is tee shirt ,sweatshirt and normally warm enough. Bedale is of lighter material, Beaufort is next weight up,bit more robust for outdoor sports. My go to for outside in the fields is a discontinued Solway that was around in the 60s.A heavyweight 80oz material, slightly longer with a belt . Mostly used for fishing .
@@rolandcarlile9568 I have had the problem with my bedale navy that the sleeves had the perfect length but it was too tight on the chest. Do you think the classic bedale will fit better even if I order the same size?
Another variation in the Bedale are the ribbed in cuffs and the studs on the collar to attach a hood . My jacket came without both .When i asked barbour why this is . I was told some jackets are meant for retail , and others are sold primarily on their website .
Wrong. The wax is the same for both. The difference is how the cotton is finished. The classic is made of unshorn cotton and only comes in the olive and classic tartan colourway.
Thanks for posting. I came across your post when I was reviewing the re-waxing procedures for my Barbour Jackets. I am surprised that you don't use the Beaufort's poacher pocket. I find that pocket often comes in very handy and I've often put items into that pocket and had both hands free. In fact that pocket is the reason why my Beaufort more often than my Bedale. In hindsight, I fully concur with your decision of having two Beaufort Jackets, however, I thought it was better to have two different jackets. So, I bought a Barbour Beaufort with the original Tartan, and the Classic Bedale. Many people like one of my neighbors, who wears a Bedale, are unaware of the differences between the Beaufort and the Bedale.
It’s not clear from this video. Are both Classic and Original Beaufort jackets available as new now or is the Classic only available and the Original a legacy one and only available on the secondary market?
@@lilyyt8627 I find that difficult to believe. Whether a camera (as with the Paramo photography/travel jackets) or a gun, it is beneficial to have longer sleeves. If you look at some of the adverts, the jackets modelled are quite simply too small for the wearer. @@OneManReviews like mine, I have 2 in 36. Thinking to buy a Rustic brown in 38 to be able to layer bit more. I’m very annoyed by the brass smell coming from the metal part, have u too experienced this? Thank ☺️
As far as im aware it's only the classic's that are made in the UK now. For the Bedale and Beaufort. Nevertheless, it will actually tell you if it is, they always have a little 'made in england' on the main interior tag.
@@iMr_Kenny Yep. All the jackets used to be. However, nowadays only the 'classic' jackets are, of which only the 'Classic Beaufort' and 'Classic Bedale' exist. The regular 'Beaufort' and 'Bedale' are not. Which is a shame.

The difference is cause navy lining in general has some polyester a little bit

The Game pocket is great for carrying a scarf, hat, etc....
That’s a great idea. Never thought about it.
The same happens with bedale and classic bedale models . I have the new and the old one in the same size . And I totally agree with you

Still do classic range in inches, newer ones are cut as fashion shapes, slim fit.Not the same .

Last time I checked the both were available to buy new.
I want to buy the waxed Barbour but heard they have a smell which can be embarrassing when sitting next to people.
I wouldn't say that waxed jackets have any strange or unpleasant smell.
LOL
They had in the past, not anymore though
Smell like gun dogs and country living? Probably most did in the past 😂
Classic Beaufort color code?
how do i recognise the two different type in the stores to be absolutely sure? there is some kind of label somewhere in the Jacket?
By the colour. Classic is only in olive colour. Regular Beaufort comes in blue, sage (or brown) and black.
@@OneManReviews thank you, also i rewatch the video and see the " classic beaufort " and " beaufort" labels in the inside of the jackets.
What color is your favorite color navy vs olive, is it navy look less of a home less don’t you think?
Yes, the navy is more dressy and less homeless but I still like the olive one better :)
Hi very nice video :) Can i ask how tall you are and which size you got? I heard you have a 36 UK Size?
Hi, thanks glad you liked it. I am 178 I'm tall. Yes my both Beauforts are in 36 size.

I bought my Beaufort Classic when I was at Unversitiy, Laptop and a A4 Notepad were always in the big backpocket, so no need for additional bag ;-)
Very helpful comparison; however, you did not mention the well known concern so many express: unsatisfactory sleeve length.
I like the length of Barbour classic jackets. I don't find them too short. Just as I like.
This is purposeful, as it was made for hunting. Its short sleeves are comfortable when holding a shotgun
