I am really liking Mark as a reviewer. He’s renewed my interest in Edmunds reviews.
Mark is becoming my new favorite reviewer. Great job.
A very solid review. Thanks, Mark!
well detailed review thank you
You forgot the hidden compartment that lives under the front cup holders! They slide forward.
When he says the tow rating doesn't get close to pickup territory, i'm slightly confused. This Disco has a higher tow rating than an F-150. Is he comparing to heavy duty or dually trucks?
Yeah was going to say, that tow rating for a midsize SUV is better than pretty much all of the ones in it’s class. Beats my Grand Cherokee, which does 7200. I think Explorer is like 5000. Even full size SUV’s like the Tahoe do around 8000
What trail were they on for the offroad part?
Thanks Mark!
why is the passenger seat vibrating so much?
The first decent review i have seen from Edmunds aside from Carlos.
how can u review an infotainment system while driving the car?
Btw, when was the last time someone actually used a map pocket for maps and a glove box for gloves?
Awesome S.U.V.
"Hardy materials" aka hard plastic 👀👀
That's really unacceptable, first Doug DeMuro had the infotainment shutting down on the Velar he tested and now you with this Discovery, these are new vehicles, what the hell? Seats should not be an issue either at $77,000.
its a land rover... they still arnt known fortheir reliability lol... i hate the land rover is cramming in all these electronic shit like the velar is just full of electrics... i mean if ur gonna make the car full of electric shit, atleast make sure its fucking reliable... and the build quality really isnt great on landrover products... its just marketing
the velar surely isnt gonna be a good used buy without a warranty on it anyway
I have a 2018 discovery- the infotainment has not shut down so far ( keeping fingers crossed ). From what I read online it was a problem with a software bug in initial models which they worked out ) I cross shopped GLS , Escalade etc. as a package I liked this the most. Eventually we all make some compromises.
Between before I bought a JLR product I asked several friends e late model year land / range rovers 4-6 yr old trucks e >80k miles or so. They still love their trucks and didn’t have any major issues. Hope it helps someone.
Between I enjoyed marks review.
As for folks not happy e some quirks , there is no perfect car out there. Not even Audi q 7 ( watch motomans review )

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🙏🏽
look how much the passenger head rest shakes on some shots , that is not acceptable for a car of this price
Either Mark is 6'4" or those seats are tiny.
I'm 5' 10", and I find the seats very comfortable.
I’m 6’4” and the seats and leg room are great compared to many other SUVs. The Lexus gs460 lacked head and leg room(leg room was limited due to steering wheel not telescoping enough) for myself, so did the merecedes gls450. Definitely recommend this suv for taller people, too many SUVs have poor headroom, they don’t allow you to either lower the seat enough or the roof line is lower than the discovery. The Audi Q7 had the same issue (seat stayed too high for sunroof bump) while the Q8 was great and comfortable just no third row.
The wristband seems silly. Ford had this problem solved 30 years ago with the exterior keypad.
You been watching too much Doug Dimiro
What if someone sees your code? huh? I can imagine you covering the keypad from the sides with your hands and putting in your code with your nose just so no one can see the code. How classy!
A 2017? Hmm it is 2018 right?
Its a drivers car, and a supremely comfort brand at that, the front seats lack adequate support over longer drives, and the 2nd and 3rd row seats offer even less padding and overall support than the front seats?! But he continually makes excuses pertaining to these unacceptable oversights in Land Rover's execution of this vehicle. The infotainment unit crashes fairly often and to the degree that "you will have to pull over, turn it off and restart it". Looking out of the front window "is like looking through a light gauze", and he down plays it all! These technical and ergonomic missteps are a game changer. Pay 70 Grand for a vehicle and EVERYTHING needs to work, and quite properly at that. Seems like he (Edmunds) is afraid of ruffling Land Rover's feathers if they gave an honest review. A concern that they might fall from favor with the auto dealer, and not be invited to "review" any more new vehicles? Perhaps. However, I thought it was the automotive journalist company's, and its journalists, job to state the facts about these vehicles in an uncompromising fashion. This isn't a review.

I had a RR with the heated windshield for years and never...ever thought that it had caused a problem with forward visibility in ANY situation.
i dig it.. oh yeah, first
That's not true.... the go to offroad vehicle has always been the Toyota Landcruiser..... period
Why did u compare it's towing abilities to a pickup truck? Instead of comparing it to other SUVs in its own class? BAD REVIEW
