    I had a 2011 1050 from new with the Arrow 3>1 lowboy… it spat flames every time you let it engine brake through 4,,000rpm. Those were the days when men were men, emissions were emitted, Freddos were still affordable and Triumphs were made in

      2017 Tuono on the same dyno... ua-cam.com/video/XAvqCHxZM98/v-deo.html. Newer Tuono's may make a bit more power... but Speed Triple is lighter.
      Here's newer Tuono and SFv4: ua-cam.com/video/RcxvwLTjq7g/v-deo.html
      I'm gonna say the Triumph is faster in a straight line than the Tuono... slower than the Duc once moving but quicker off the line... in the twisties however... probably still going to be all Aprilia.

    • @falcodog2917
      @falcodog2917 6 місяців тому

      @@kuhndj67 I've owned both and the Speed is faster than the Tuono, but because the Speed is so smooth and linear, it does not feel like it is. It's just so deceptive. As far as the twisties? The Speed is easier for me to rip it up in the canyons and that flat torque curve is so broad that you don't need to shift all that often but the Tuono hits like a bull coming up out of the corners and it rages while the speed just gets on with being very predictable and very fast. I would say it comes down to the rider preference and skill.

Other than that the quickshifter is pretty faultless so far. I'm interested more in terms of what you do with the suspension Al, as I think we are similar weights/ height. I'm running mine on the soft road setting they give, it works pretty well ish on the ploughed fields that pass for roads near me. But would like to see what you do with it fella! I want to know more about the engine character. The Daytona had one of the best engine characters, but no journalists talk about the 1200's engine character other than saying that it is "smooth". For example, is it quick to rev? Does it snap with instant torque like a GSXR 1k? I noticed that it has tremendous low down torque on the dyno compared to every competitor except the Superduke, but that is hardly mentioned either, so I don't know what to think about this bikes engine

Then, in your politest British accent, ask BST for a set of Rapid Tek rims. Better tyres (if required) then sort the suspension. Definitely looks dashing in the black...JHS dyno reads lower than some/is more honest than most, so decent power for a naked. Could see if you can make the suspension work as you'd like.

    For 2k of Yankie Doodle Dollars more one can have the Fact Tuono with super dooper 2.0 susp. Or for 2k Less there's the Factory T Ape over the Speed Triple RR with that suspension. But the RR is a bit sexy.... Yet it's 2k freedom bucks more. I'm really quite torn between the RR and the Factory Ape, I'd do the RS but it doesn't come (that I know of) with the fancy pants Suspension.
    Ps. Love your stuff! Wearing the windcheater now. Love the pen holder in the pocket. And the pockets in the pockets.
    L8TR Mate!

    Got to pedal the old RS over the Isle of Skye. That was a proper weapon, compact and chuckable. Can only imagine the mischief you could get up to on the new one! Perhaps a run on an airfield to see who can do longest wheelie?

      I prefer the older 1050 RS as the engine seems to have more low down grunt, much better for road use, you don't need to rev it as much as the 1200. I bought a 1050RS. Love it. The sound of the engine with the twin Arrow cans is addictive.

    Put it up against the Tuono factory on the track and in a straight line.

    I have looked a lot of Dyno results where the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 makes around 155hp. However, in all these results (including yours) the Speed Triple 1200 is revved to only 10700rpm whereas the rev limiter of the bike is 11.400 rpm from manufacturer. Why did you rev the bike to only 10700rpm when the bike makes More Power in the last 700rpm?

    Bhp headline figures are overplayed. Anything north of 150 is virtually unusable on the road. Beautiful bike but, needs a growler.
