I lost my right foot to an IED in Afghanistan that took 13 surgeries and ended in amputation in exactly the same place. I later got a blood clot in my right arm that developed compartment syndrome. It’s been years since I felt able to ride or support the weight of a bike. I’m currently shopping for a Diavel. Amazing story you have, I hope you get back in the saddle at some point. Cheers
Get well soon, it's hard work but well worth it. I was paralyzed in 2020, broke my back and wasn't ever supposed to be able to walk again. 2 years later, having worked my ass off, I can't move my ankles or toes, have varying degrees of strength and weakness in different muscles from my chest down, but I can walk with crutches and ankle braces. This year I was able to get back on my bike and ride, thanks to a translogic powershifter. Still working my ass off, still improving... Keep at it.
I became disabled in 2003 in a workplace injury, 6mos after getting married. I'd recovered from 2 previous broken backs [racing snowmobiles] and got kicked at the base of my skull 💀 by a bull when I was rodeoing right out of high-school. So 3 different time's I've been paralyzed, twice from the waist down, and once from the neck down, I was so scared 😱 when I woke up in the hospital and couldn't move anything but my eye's, fcking terrified for a few day's until the swelling in my spine went down, and the sensationin my legs came back. Nowadays I'm able to walk around the house (short distances) and walk outside with a cane, and stand for a few minutes before the pain gets too bad. I had a power chair thing called a rascal, it was useless unless in a store or something. The thing would get stuck driving across the lawn, and was ruined by water after going through the snow. We have 8mos of winter here and I am eligible to get another chair/buggy but the one's that I found useful aren't covered by my insurance. The cheapest one is $18,000.00 grand the other us over $20grand depending on options. That's more money than I've ever spent on a car or ANY toy! Unfortunately I spend 80-90% of my awake time laying in my adjustable bed watching TV 📺. I tell myself that if I could do more if I had the scooter to get outside and chase my 17mos old grandson! Now I just lay here and watch utube! God bless you 🙏 and yours..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
@RandomShart the "Action trackchair" and the "Coyote mobility atv 4x4" both are extremely expensive I'll now watch the thing you sent me! Thank you ahead of time, for helping me find a useful buggy. My mind doesn't like saying power chair! It's too close to the word wheelchair..smh...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
I was one of the first guys on track that came through that crash. It looked like a bomb had gone off. I couldn't see it was you, mate, and I'm bloody glad for that fact. Thanks for all the help you gave me at the TT, Boothy. You're a true gentleman and hard as all F and I'm so, so pleased to see you up and living life again.
As horrific as it is see Boothy’s injuries and losing a leg end, he is an absolute LEGEND for his strength, attitude towards life and his recovery. Inspirational!
It was 25yrs ago yesterday that I was in a similar position to yourself, lying in hospital after a big bike crash that ripped 5 nerves (c5, c6, c7, c8 and t1) out of my spine leaving me with a paralysed left arm and a world of non stop severe chronic pain. It's been a tough journey, but one that has lifted me to greater heights, changed my world for the better and taught me so much. Despite it all I'm still here, still loving life and still riding motorcycles! Onwards and upwards.
When I was in Stanmore in 1996 I met a guy who had rolled his SUV. When he woke up they told him his wife had died. He was semi paraplegic from the neck down. He was a good bloke, I used to challenge him to arm wrestles and made him laugh., There was a girl who got paralised from the neck down and was on a breathing machine, she could not touch her toys on the tray in front of her. That still make me cry. There is no God. Just fate and luck.
Watching Boothy swing his leg over that bike got me all emotional. It’ll be so good to have him back in the channel, testing bikes, and being the top bloke he is.
Seeing Boothy climb on to that bike in the beginning was one of the most inspirational things I've ever seen. His attitude and courage are some thing to admire. He will overcome this and will come back stronger than ever. Looking forward to seeing his progress.
Honestly don’t understand how you managed to not only get through all this, but come out so bloody chipper. You’re a proper inspiration Boothy, genuinely all the best pal 💪
I'd been moaning about having a bad day in work earlier, this really put things into perspective for me. Boothy you are a very brave and modest man, totally deserving of all the support and aid people sent.
Don't feel too bad, most of us moan about being late to work or something until we see the car crash that caused the gridlock. Whatever it is, there's always worse.
For those that don't know, Michael Booth, 'Boothy', crashed during Supersport qualifying for the 2022 Isle of Man TT on 3rd June 2022. If you're like me, I was recommended this video by UA-cam probably because I subscribe to Chris Eade's channel and having never heard of this poor chap I asked Google for the facts. I wish him all the best in his recovery.
I'm a miserably uncharitable git. Never given anyone a cent. And when I saw this news back when it happened, it was the easiest & fastest $200 I've ever given. Some parts of this video were hard, and I have so much damn respect for putting it out. You don't have to share these things with us, but you did. Thank you. Set a good example of everyday heroism for me. The courage to face the toughest challenges, and the resolve to keep going. Hope the prozzy still feels good!
What a legend - I can't imagine the strength of mind that it takes to go through that and still get in front of a camera for us. Thanks Boothy and all at 44T
"7 or 8 separate injuries that each one would have hospitalised me, but all together is a bit of a pain in the arse" True northern casual spirit 👍 Rest up and get yourself as right as you can, everyone's been rooting for you and will carry on doing so
Everyone hates to see bad things happen to good people. We love you Boothy. Hope your continued dedication and training combined with any bionic tech that comes along restores as much functionality as possible to your legs. It's impossible to pity a man who displays such fighting spirit. We instead ask ourselves, 'could I be so strong?'
seeing Boothy so positive has literally made my week, i can't even to begin to imagine what he's had to go through. What a top bloke and wish him all the best
Commiserations mate, I spent a year and a half in plaster, plated, then had a bone graft. Felt like someone smashing me in the shin with a steel bar, every time I stood up, Did I sweat! No drugs then, ( 1969) Suddenly, one day, about 3 months later, no pain! I couldn't understand what was missing for a while! Took 4 months work to bend my knee fully. I'm always grateful to Mr Busfield at Uxbridge Hospital for putting me back together. I still love being on a bike! I'm 73 now, had a knee replacement in 2022. Still loving life. Keep your chin up, it does get better, it just takes time. Find something to keep you occupied while recuperating. I made a couple of guitars!
3day old festival vag, 😅. We’re bikers, and our gallows humor will get us through everything. Boothy, I am so proud of you for this interview, most people couldn’t do this level of explanation in such a matter of fact way after losing a limb. Hats off to you mate, your fighting spirit is truly inspirational and I wish you all the best in life. I know you will fight and achieve everything that you ever wanted to, through sheer effort.
Mate, I had 6 surgeries for compartment syndrome and got told twice they might have to take my legs off….. lucky for me I kept them. I can literally relate to this so so much. Keep strong dude.
Wow , A massive thanks to Boothy for sharing this on a personal level , sometimes we as riders think we are invincible but this is a cool reminder of the dangers of what motorbikes can do , Ride safe everyone
Hope you are recovering well and thanks for sharing this. It shows what risks we take in doing road racing. I know a few people who have had life changing injuries from racing and a lot more who are no longer with us (Davey Morgan was in front of you on the one clip). Some of the seriously injured friends have gone on to do other things in life that they wouldn't have otherwise done though and are some of the toughest and most inspiring people you ever meet. With Aberdare only a couple of weeks away, I sometimes wonder if its all worth it, but you are spot on that road racing recalibrates your exhilaration threshold, to such an extent, that most other things are relatively boring and sedate. The one other thing that's similar in terms of excitement, total concentration and speed is aerobatics in an aeroplane, so see if your sponsor will take you up in one of those spitfires!
my god what a story , you give a whole new meaning to the word tough. total respect to you and wish you the best possible recovery, get back on that bike.
Lost for words at your openness and positivity, Boothy. You’ve shown incredible strength and resilience, and I know you’ll maintain all of these traits throughout your recovery, even through the inevitable low points. All the best, and keep us all updated. Everyone who knows you is behind you.
10th yr at the TT and we were so excited to see you with 44t this time. We walked round and round the paddock trying to find the camp. Found an empty spot next to DH and he politely said you'd "left". We knew what that must mean. Obviously it would have been in a press release if it had been terminal but that in between bit hit us hard. We looked out for every bit of info we could in the coming weeks. Our thoughts were with you the whole time. Best of luck with the rest of your recovery. You've already come a long way! :-)
I've had a somewhat similar accident. Hit by a drunk driver on my ZX6R in 2013 when I was 19 years old. Didn't lose my lower leg completely but lost my right heel. Compound fractured right femur, tib and fib and broken pelvis. I remember feeling like I woke up in the hospital but it was a few days later but apparently I was awake and talking the whole time. Dr. said trauma tricks your brain at that point of shock. I did start to remember almost all of what happened but I chose not to think about it. Hated when people wanted to talk about it. Do have a vivid picture in my brain of trying to move my leg and seeing only a little nub move as the rest of my leg was behind me. After over a year of recovery I got hit with a bone infection that left me in the hospital even longer and more surgeries to clean that up. Spent my 21st Bday getting a 2nd of 6 surgeries for the infection and well over 2 years before I started any real life activities.
Boothy’s “that’s not a hospital” chat was so relatable. When I was younger I had a horrendous skiing injury and was airlifted to a French hospital and put in a 12 week coma. When I came out I thought the hospital was fake, was convinced the block of flats I could see out the window was the football stadium of my home town team, and that the light above my bed was a camera watching me.
Brave man Boothy. Courage to race at the IOMTT, courage to keep a video diary when most would have found it hard to talk at all, and courage leaning into your pain and suffering. All the best mate.
massive respect to your parents for raising such a level headed down to earth tip top fella ,keep moving forward Boothy everyone down under is backing you right in mate ,you are truly inspirational as this really really hits home ,good onya mate
So pleased to see Boothy looking so well, an incredibly difficult journey he's had but hopefully all downhill now. An incredible interview chaps so moving and routing for Boothy to be back soon 👏
It's eerie hearing Boothy speak about his accident, hospitalisation and the rehab experience. I shattered both my femurs in 2019 and went through similar accounts, thankfully no amputations. The most important part is the wanting to get better. I have some stories I tell all my mates about those at rehab who you could tell by their mindset were not going to get better. If you have the drive to get back to a normal life you will make it happen. Thanks for sharing Boothy.
I’ve had a proper shit day at work but watching this brings everything into very sharpe focus. You’ve got this Boothie, absolutely mega to see you on the road to recovery, and equally to Al, Chris the 44teeth crew, you’re doing an amazing job.
Hi Boothy! Recent tibial plateau fracture here due to a car pulling out. Now have a plate & 11 screws for life. Not quite your level of injury Boothy but you are part of my motivation for recovery!! The reminder of the length of injury vs back to normal length is my hardest challenge also & I 9 weeks on am still having major ups and downs mentally. Thank you for cheering me up and keeping me positive. Jonny 👊💪
Hey boothy I know your “ waddle” was pissing you off a bit - but there has to be less extreme ways of getting rid..!!!.. 😂❤️💪🏻 stay positive and be the best you can be .!!it’s just so great to see you back and on the up..!!
This brought me so much joy. What an absolute legend this man is. And how beautiful it is to realise that when people come together, magic things happen. Even at the darkest hours. Kudos to everyone showing their support. Wishing you the best and fastest recovery possible, Boothie. Can't wait to see you back on your feet without crutches.
You most probably won’t read this being that this video was uploaded 5 months ago. That said, I saw the latest 44T video today and started remembering your unforgettable contributions to the channel. I don’t know you except just by being a fan of you and your videos. Brian bro I miss seeing you on the telly, your bike reviews and just in general your lovable antics were something to look forward to. Enjoyed your perspective too. Must say you definitely have a genuine way about you and you always are able to share with us a smile and laughter in almost any situation. You’re a good dude and can’t wait to see you back at it! Seriously we miss you and really really can’t wait to have you back as our staple of ultra coolness! Stay strong, you have lots of people who care about you. OK I rambled on long enough, cheers mate👍
I cannot put into words how overjoyed to see that you are conquering injury and major life changes with such energy and positiveness. You inspire me to push through my life's troubles with greater drive. Stay strong, we are all pulling for you Boothy.
What an amazing man... to suffer such a tragic accident and fight back for a good outcome. Cheers Boothy. You are a Champion because of your spirit and toughness. Get well soon. We all want to see you back on the job and creating the joy and camaraderie that 44 Teeth is famous for. Goodonya!
Boothy, it’s clear to understand why Aussies would show you kindness. You’re a very real human being! Best wishes going forward in life and recovery 😊❤
You’re tough as nails man. Every day gets a little better. You’re so right about having the right attitude. I’m 45 and had my hip replaced and and they told me I wouldn’t ride for 3-6 months. I pushed through the pain with the physio and the doc gave me the clear to ride after 6 weeks.
Hi Boothy. I lost my best friend last year to a motorcycle accident. It pains me to hear that you lost a part of your leg etc. I dont knos if this makes you feel any better but, youre "lucky" the legs took the impact and not the head first. This might sound crazy but I wish my friend was as "crippled" as you are. Enjoy the time and please see this as a savyor. Just enjoy life and family and everything around you. Be well and enjoy. Thanks for reading if so. From holland
I admire Boothy’s attitude, perseverance, and candid conversation of what can happen to any one of us at anytime. He’s got his mind right and it sounds like he’s doing all the right things. Personally, I try to mentally prepare myself for the same. Anyone else? Godspeed Boothy!
So many folks have given up for far less. Awesome example of human spirit. So stoked to see ya back, pushing to get better. Throwing the leg over the bike had me yelling “c’mon Boothy!!!!” at my phone.
Yes it’s a clichè, (pronounced cly chee), but Boothy you are an inspiration. You make me want to get out there, take on the world, climb the toughest mountain, wrestle a bear, a big bear, a proper angry fecker… Grrrrrrrrr. I won’t though because… well I can’t be arsed. But what I am more than happy to do, is tell you it’s great to see you back. Not just doing this interview, it’s just good to see you back having the craic with one of your mates. The best thing about 44Teeth for me, isn’t the great content. It’s watching genuine mates bounce of each other. The Budget Bike Battle of Britain being just one brilliant example. By the way is that job really completed, seeing as how it’s got Britain in the title and you only did England? Hopefully that was just season one? Be great to see you back in the saddle when you’re ready Boothy. Wishing you a quick and safe recovery.
So happy to see you are back on your fee….well, foot I guess, but none the less, it’s really awesome that you are back Boothy! Keep fighting, we really missed you. ❤️
Fuck me Boothy……that’s some story, oh my god you went through the mill……we are all still hoping you are back on a bike and doing what you do best…..adding to the superb 44 teeth content…..you are an absolute trooper, and we all want to see you get back good health and fitness…..👍🇮🇲
How fitting to film this in the Spitfire hanger. Best of British. Times two. So good to hear your voice again Boothy, you look to be doing amazingly well. Keep going, we're all want to be watching videos of you and the boys reviewing the latest bikes. Or cocking around and campsite doughnutting in another 3 wheeled BBB snotter!!
I had a 'bad' crash myself last year, still on the mend and doing physio. I have an idea of what you're going through Boothy and wish you all the best, you're an inspiration mate.
What a legend! Despite your injuries you are still positive and back to being the Boothy we all know and love, wish you all the best in your recovery and hope to see you back on 44t soon 👍🏻
Can't wait to see you evolve into your final cyborg state of 1/2 man 1/2 motorcycle. Jokes aside: what a journey. I'm amazed you're so quickly back on the channel. I can't even believe you're doing this given the amount of pain you've been in. I'm really impressed. You are a resilient legend.
Great to see and feel the positivity bursting outta Boothy, so much good will being sent his way the energy will stay high! Keep healing keep laughing as that's one of the greatest cures for troubling times.
So happy seeing this pop up! What can I say Boothy.. fair play and glad you’re here and able to tell the tale 💪🏼 on the plus side the new leg looks lighter so we’re expecting some fast laps ❤️
Very well done gents. Wishing you all the best Boothy - I am an avid Mountain Biker and Martin Ashton went through a worse injury and does a ted talk about finding his way back to sport. Inspiring stuff / worth a watch.
I had 10 weeks in hospital after a bike smash so I know some of what you’re going through it took two years to get back to normal early on in the rehab some days were like my battery’s were taken out . The best advice I got was listen to your body which I totally ignored and went full steam ahead.Pace yourself and keep focused and the good days get more frequent than the bad days fella
Can’t wait to see Boothy back in the saddle. New perspective and direction with his reviewing of bikes I’m sure. Not only look at them with fresh eyes, newfound wind in his sails but from a new angle of riding with his prozzie.
Boothy, you may not be a teary person but watching that I’ve shed tears of sadness and laughter. You are a f**king star. So good to see you up and about and retaining your unique brand of humour.
Everyone has been rooting so hard for you Boothy. I think all the 44T family have been desperately awaiting seeing you again. ❤
Giggle's...... We're all rooting Boothy hard 🤠
Definitely Scott
Love Boothy he adds so much to this channel. He makes this channel watchable LoL
Feels great to see him again and doing so well.🤛🤩

Yep,me too.
Do you have brachial complexus injury?
Stath's got a way with words "Like a 3 day old festival Vag..." All the very, very best to you Mike, we've missed you.
Yummy
Only 44 teeth could make a discussion about a horrific injury bloody funny at points. Amazing.

Poor ol' Boothy. Hope that acclimating to your new life condition goes smooth and easy. All 282K of us are pulling for you.
You are an inspiration Boothy, even hearing the story I cannot even pretend to understand what you have gone through and what you have conquered.
my god what a story , you give a whole new meaning to the word tough. total respect to you and wish you the best possible recovery, get back on that bike.

@gnarshread Legend and singular leg end (said I'm a respectful and 44teeth sarcastic way).
Great to see Boothy looking and sounding healthy.
What a fucking legend. Your first video back on a bike, on a track, is going to be absolutely immense.
Boothy... Going through all that and still have that same spirit and charisma is unbelievable ! Legend
Would love to see a 44Teeth video where you do some marshall work or help at a race. Showing the behind the scenes

Obviously it would have been in a press release if it had been terminal but that in between bit hit us hard. We looked out for every bit of info we could in the coming weeks. Our thoughts were with you the whole time. Best of luck with the rest of your recovery. You've already come a long way! :-)
That's Dean Harrison. My shorthand 🤦🏼♀️
Welcome back Boothy, we’ve all missed you greatly! ❤
Dude you are a beast, not many men as strong as you. Thank god you are alive
boothy we wish you all a speedy recovery and hope you get back to normal as much as you can. keep your chin up bud, all the best
Brought tears to my eyes I don't mind admitting, thank you for making this video and the very best wishes for your recovery. 👍
Me too .
So glad to see him back on his foot!…
Such a good reminder to us Two Wheeled riders what can happen and how fortunate we are!💪🏽🔥🏍️💨💨
We all missed you and your sense of humour!
Good to see Boothy is on the mend. His courage and determination to get better is inspiring.
All praise Boothy. Hope you are back on the bike soon.
I’ve had a proper shit day at work but watching this brings everything into very sharpe focus. You’ve got this Boothie, absolutely mega to see you on the road to recovery, and equally to Al, Chris the 44teeth crew, you’re doing an amazing job.
What a hero.
So good to see you in such good spirits. Wish you all the best Boothy!
Great to see you back boothy, your true character is showing through and we love you for it.
Heartbreaking, but you are stronger than any physical limitation. Much love to you Boothy.
Been on tenterhooks waiting for for something like this. So glad to see Boothy seeming to be in good spirits. We are all pulling for you, mate!
I cannot put into words how overjoyed to see that you are conquering injury and major life changes with such energy and positiveness. You inspire me to push through my life's troubles with greater drive. Stay strong, we are all pulling for you Boothy.
Boothy is a true legend amongst men! What an inspiration!
Boothy, so glad you're on the mend and keeping positive. Thoughts are with you pal.
You are a strong man, Boothy. Massive props to you and thank you for sharing your story. Beast 💪❤️
Massive respect for being so candid. I hope you heal well and fast
So great to see Boothy back on the channel. This video made my day.
So Glad you're still with us Boothy! you're a freaking legend!
Wish you all the best Boothy. All 44 Family. All the best from Slovakia 🇸🇰
Being a lower right leg amputee since March 86, I know how difficult it is to judge swinging a leg over a bike again.
I admire Boothy’s attitude, perseverance, and candid conversation of what can happen to any one of us at anytime. He’s got his mind right and it sounds like he’s doing all the right things. Personally, I try to mentally prepare myself for the same. Anyone else? Godspeed Boothy!
Seing Boothy get on that bike gave me goosebumps, Pure unadulterated RESILIENCE!👏👏👏
Boothy is an absolute legend, great to see him on the channel again, and I wish him all the best with his recovery! 🙌
Wow, what a video! Boothy: you're an inspiration to everyone. Looking forward to seeing you and Fagan at TTS again soon!
Boothy is a courageous man. You never know how much courage a person has until life demands it. He's risen to the giant challenges in his life.
I was sitting at a bike stop near Sydney at the weekend talking to some guys about 44T so plenty of support here in Oz. Boothy you're inspirational!
Good to see your on the mend boothy. So so brave. Love the positivity man.
Nice to see Boothy’s sense of humour is still on point 🙏
Seeing Boothy getting on that bike brought a tear to my eye… 😢
Such a hero, by that I mean brave, an inspiration and unbelievable courage. What a man. Sending healing thoughts.
You're a fucking legend Boothy, stay strong. Won't be long until you ride again; if you keep this positive attitude up. Rooting for ya.
It's great to see you on screen again. Looking sharp, Boothy.
Here's to a quick recovery and I hope to see you back in the saddle soon.
@@jeffcanada2316 yes, it’s a scam for sure. I reported it to UA-cam as such.
Very good advice.
Amazing to see Boothy back, what a legend
Can’t wait to see Boothy back in the saddle. New perspective and direction with his reviewing of bikes I’m sure. Not only look at them with fresh eyes, newfound wind in his sails but from a new angle of riding with his prozzie.
Ta for making the internet great again, Boothy. Await more content from you ASAP.
Boothy, you may not be a teary person but watching that I’ve shed tears of sadness and laughter. You are a f**king star. So good to see you up and about and retaining your unique brand of humour.
