When I was a child, my mother who was born in 1915, told me how hard it was for her to sing God Save the Queen when the Queen's father, George VI died and and Elizabeth ascended the throne. And now, here I am, 70 years later, having to learn to sing God Save the king
Yes, I know my grandmothers were the same and I dare say that those who were alive in 1901 felt exactly the same when Queen Victoria died.
Well..just replace Queen with King. It's not rocket science

As French President Macron so accurately said: “To you in Britain, she was your Queen. To the rest of the world, she was THE Queen.”
We will always miss her and honour our King ❤
Exactly! Regardless of where you were in the world, when they talked about "The Queen" everyone knew who you meant!!
I will always miss her and ignore him.
Yes. She was THE Queen and a great friend to the United States.
Для небольшой кучки мира. 😂
She never forgot that a monarch was not a ruler, but a servant bound by duty to serve her people and her nation. Especially in an age where the role was largely ceremonial, she never forgot that and maintained the dignity of office and the nation in that service.
I am not from the UK, but I have always had the greatest respect for Queen Elizabeth. She is missed, she was a great asset to the UK. It made me sad to hear that this is the last time we will hear God Save the Queen.
Agreed
In the UK we've moved on. Considering the 10 day mourning bullshit we had to endure, where according to the BBC and ITV news nothing else happened in the world.......life in the UK got back to normal pretty damn quickly.
Still breaks you realising it's probably gonna be at least 100 years before anyone ever hears this again
There's loads of archived footage. You can hear it any time you want.
Like Godless, abortion-loving, LGBT, low fertility rate UK is going to be around in 100 years. lol
If only Princes Anne was in the line for succession
@@manicmangomango8118 then we'd still have an unelected head of state pretending to work......no difference.
If Prince George has a first-born daughter it'll be sung to a Queen in about 70 to 80 years.
As an American that believes in our republic, I had and still have the utmost respect for Queen Elizabeth II. She was born a hereditary noblewoman, but she was truly nobility in spirit and deed. May she rest in peace.
I still find it difficult to imagine the world without her
Its hard to believe she's not here anymore
poor imagination i would say
You've been living in that world for nearly 2 years.
I moved on pretty much straight away. Thankfully I was away on holiday for most of the mourning period so I got to miss the tiny number of prats that went past her coffin (250k out of a population of 70m).
As do many of us
Miss her.
Outstanding devotion to duty
The Queen has certainly done a lot to the british commonwealth, and now she lies resting peacefully with his beloved husband. May she rest in peace until the end of time.
When does time end?
God decides so may she rest until then.

Elizabeth II, by the Grace of Almighty God, Queen, Defender of the Faith. A Great Queen in our times.
"Defender of the Faith" how do you figure? Britain saw the biggest moral decline in history under her reign.
@@adamahrens4320 F.D. The moral decline was the people, not their Queen.
This is heartbreaking for me 💔 I still can’t believe we have lost our beloved Queen. Hearing the National Anthem, I still want to say God Save The Queen, even though we have a King 🇬🇧
It's a very sad fact - but she was profoundly loved and yes. I made the same mistake as well! We have lived through the second Elizabethan era. We have a King now and it's still early days of that. King Charles the Third is the Sovereign now. And this is likely to take time to get used to.
Me too ... and now l get sad everytime l hear our National Anthem ... l hevercised to it just reminds me of her
I think that it's not just the National Anthem - we should remember but also the hymn that defined Queen Elizabeth the Second. I vow to thee, my country - that hymn defined her service to our national life. And parts of this will resonate equally. With each other of us.
It will be a LONG TIME before there once again sits a Queen on the throne of the UK. A very long time. Could be as long as 100 years or more, and it would, of course, depend on who Prince George's firstborn child is. Remember, it was by no means written in the cards when Elizabeth was born that she was to someday become Queen. Life is a funny size, Ms Otton. And full of surprised.
The question is, how King Charles will reign for.
I am an American and feel the loss greatly. She may not have been Queen here, but I daresay she has been the most important person anywhere of the 20th and possibly the 21st centuries. Her rule maintained the oft heard of stability, not only for England and the United Kingdom, but for so many around the world. Her gentle yet steady leadership will be sorely missed. As will the charismatic personality that she let shine through from time to time.
The Queen is dead, long live the king.
G'day from Australia - there is a lot of love for our late great Queen here. Rest in peace, Your Majesty.
As an Australian I learned to sing “God SAve the Queen”, now at the age of81 I have no idea of the words of our national anthem - sad but it is not an inspiring piece.
@@juliehock6059 As a Brit who grew up in Australia, we sang both God Save the Queen and Advance Australia Fair in school. Although, to be fair, the words have been changed since then - at least "the Queen" only changes one word :)
"Long live our noble Queen"
We know that God certainly wanted to make this part true.
Rest in Peace, Your Majesty.

True but there’s a small chance Anne may ascend to the throne if Charles and William died in the next 8 years as George needs to be 18 to be King

Here in Jamaica the Queen was highly respected and public polls prior to her pasting says the majority support her despite the small focal people. I for one wanted Jamaica to become a republic after her passing and not during her life as I believe in the institution of constitutional monarchy as it represents stability, continuity and prosperity. I as a jamaican take note of the fact that people who lives in a country that is a monarchy is more prosperous, less divisions and less political infighting. I am not a fan of republic as evident in the division and constant bickering such as in America or for that fact that we see a lot coups and military taking over the country.
