That wasn't the only death that broke me. There was that of my grandma just 3 weeks after the Queen. On top of being paralyzed and demented by a stroke in her 70s (which made my life go downhill since then already), in 2021, she got COVID from her caretaker, but she managed to pull through thanks to the vaccine. The following year, however, she suffered respiratory and heart failure at the same time, which turned into a fatal condition by Saturday that ended up killing her on the same day. My mother couldn't even go around (only in the early morning and late afternoon) because she had just come back from her cancer operation and, to make things worse than bad, she was forced by her heartless brother (my uncle, who recently cheated on his wife!!!) to make the funeral preparations. Just a month later, our dog Daphne had an aggressive stomach ache that almost killed her, but it was all caused by the food we were giving him - that was not the first time it occurred in her life. She's fine now and eating the right kibbles. But that moment was terrible. Age only makes things worse (this year, she turned 13 - born in 2010): she has been diagnosed with cataracts, a heart murmur, and I'm even more upset than my mother, on top of the Coronavirus and the whole Ukraine Vs. Russia & Hamas/Palestine war scare. I think I'm losing my family... S-s-sorry, I'll need to work this out somehow! P.S. I also have a female cat. She's doing fine like Daphne, except that she's FIV positive...
Same. I remember being told she 'fell ill' and I just knew it was her time. Can't believe how quick it's been though since Charles has been crowned. Christmas was only a few months ago and now we've just had it again. Yikes
Right at 0:43 the devastation behind the silence of the reporter before he speaks is palable. As an American, I still fully understand the impact of Her Majesty's passing. She was an icon for decades, and her reign was 2.5 times my current lifetime. Rest in Peace, and God Save The Queen!! 👑
Yes, he did broadcast it so beautifully and sentimentally and at the sad time, it must have been the most devastating and harrowing news that he ever had to broadcast. It most certainly was not easy for him at all

I sympathise for whats she's been through in the last few years Prince Phillips death, The Harry and Megan drama which didn't help and her son Prince Andrew. She was the beating heart of our country. A special person with a great sense of humour. Elizabeth just went so quick, it wasn't two minutes since we were celebrating her jubilee. That moment with Paddington Bear was a major highlight and one of the best things to watch. It won't be the same without her.

As a side note, Kirsty Young’s emotional sign off tribute on the day of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral was beautiful as well.
I shared my birthday with Queen Liz, she was the British Monarch all throughout my life, and as an Irishwoman she was the onle British Monarch I truly respected
Don't like what she stood for but I can respect someone who dedicates her life to what she believes is right. I believe all are created equal, there is no justification for a monarch to reign over us, we should be citizens of a Republic, but it's undeniable she did a lot of good in the world. You have to be fair.
She obviously died earlier than it was announced. The official announcement was at 6.30pm but apparently the Prime Minister was informed at 4.30pm. The fact that the flag was already at half-mast and most of the news anchors were already wearing black would also suggest that. Indeed, I was watching Keir Starmer making his statement with regards the Fuel Crisis debate when the buzz went along the benches behind him. It was quite obvious from the look on their faces that it was much more serious than had been announced at that time (1.30pm approx) I believe they used the codeword London-Bridge (in the case of the Queen) to allow all members of the Royal Family to assemble before they let the news out to the wider world.
The codeword was "London Bridge is Down". Yes there would have been a delay between actual death and notification. However at least in the base of media outlets, every one of the UK outlets has what amounts to a "break glass in case of royal death" kit, with black suit&ties, up-to-date image collections of the queen, music, updated articles, etc. So they get notified, and immediately switch over to mourning, which includes wearing black, sad music, no advertisement, etc.
Half As Interesting broke down the process pretty well. The protocol for London Bridge Is Down is a pretty drawn out operation; by the time the news were given the official go ahead to announce her death, it would’ve already been a few hours since her passing. But you’re right, the faces of guards, the flag positions on the mast, and the earlier report of the Queen being under medical supervision was more than enough to predict the ominous report ahead.
Once her family were called to her bedside it was to be expected the Queen was not going to survive. I know BBC newscasters were said to keep a black outfit in thier office so one could be on hand in case of events like this . Can't speak for ITV, Sky news and Channels 4 and 5 but i would guess it would be the same . The Queen was 96 and getting weaker. Her death was not a total surprise
Very sad - a great admirer of Her late Majesty. ☹️😢😥 She did her duty and gave great service to the nation and to her people. But I will always be comforted by the fact she had 70 glorious years on the throne and we got to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee with her.
I was 30 minutes from Balmoral on vacation when she passed. We went to the Pitlochry Highland Games the following day and the moment of silence for Her Majesty was deafening. People were sobbing. It was surreal as an American who if our leader passed, tears shed are rare instances.
Throughout my life the queen was there all of her celebrations of 70 years, i knew nothing else and then the news of her passing very sad. most wonderful funeral in history.
Just a lovely woman who carried herself not only with dignity, but with a lovely sense of humanity and humor. As an American who does not officially recognize royalty as a superior position, I can honestly say I both revere and honor Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. God grant her peace in heaven. She was a remarkable person.

I will never forget that day. I happened to be in Alaska on my 3rd cruise. I woke up that morning to a text of a screenshot of this from my best friend. And I remember saying “this is a sick joke surely?” Sadly, no. Even our captain came on and sent condolences to those on board from commonwealth countries(like myself). When we got back from our excursion we spent the evening watching the news in our stateroom. We did a toast to her at dinner. We miss her.
Me too, was watching news about Ukraine offensive and suddenly cannotnfind any news about it anymore due to the death of the Queen. The Queen's passed away was a huge lost of UK but a bombshell directly to Ukraine, they lose the media for entire week, the golden chance to humilate Russia to the point they will considered to adjust their negotiation if it was fully broadcasted on that week.

It was quite obvious from the look on their faces that it was much more serious than had been announced at that time (1.30pm approx)
I believe they used the codeword London-Bridge (in the case of the Queen) to allow all members of the Royal Family to assemble before they let the news out to the wider world.
I found out at 2pm, I would expect that it was in-fact an hour or so earlier.
Oh yes the Queen died MUCH EARLIER!! 4 YEARS EARLIER!!! to be exact
