For most of my life, she was the only Queen of England. I was 7 when she became the Queen and 8 when she was coronated The Queen of the UK. There was no live TV then, but I did watch Newsreel on American News...

Even now, in June 2024 I miss her and think about her. I hope her new realm is relaxing and free of engagements.

Besides, William has the support of Catherine and his children. The poor Queen recently lost her husband of 74 years, the love of her life and the only man she'd ever loved.

It’s the end of an era. The Queen was the last of the culturally significant monarchs. The traditions will continue as part of London’s tourism but with old sick Charles barely able to conduct ceremonies I expect the significance of the position will become even more irrelevant to Britain’s politics and diplomacy.

She was in reign for so long it almost looked like she's immortal and will remain on the throne forever. There were even jokes about her age and long reign, satire dating her back to dinosaur era. We knew that day would have to come once, but when it came, nobody was prepared. It's surreal that UK is no longer ruled by queen, but a king again. Her Majesty's passing was a shock to the world outside UK and Commonwelth as well. I basically grew up only knowing her in reign, while in my own country I've seen now 4th president in charge. Monarchy is such an alien concept to me, and I was actually surprised there are in fact number of monarchies around Europe alone. Apart from UK, Denmak is a monarchy, Sweden is also monarchy, Netherlands is still a monarchy, etc. Some European countries still have colonies outside Europe as well.
