The video is a mix of images from Queen's 1986 Wembley concert and the Freddie Mercury tribute concert in 1992, shortly after he passed away. They never performed the song together live.
@@briankuczynski4375 Ah yes . . . . but the white-hot guitar playing by Nile Rodgers AND blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan on 'Let's Dance', plus the incredible brass arrangments and percussion, exquisitie doo-woop style vocal harmonies, masterful production and mixing by Nile Rodgers and Bob Clearmountain . . . 'Let's Dance' may be a 'corny pop song', but it's a corny pop song written, performed, recorded and mixed by a team of geniuses. 😃
I just visited my grandmother with end stage dementia. She can barely remember all of our names, but as soon as I asked her why she looked glum one day she said “I just wish David Bowie was still on earth with us”
Fun/sad fact: Under Pressure’s 1st live performance ever was in 24/11/81 in the Montreal Forum and EXACTLY 10 years later Freddie Mercury died to complications from AIDS-related bronchial pneumonia
On the initial recording of under pressure by Queen, Queen was in the studio. Recording it without David Bowie. David Bowie happened to stop by to say hi to Freddie Mercury and Queen and Freddy asked him to join in on the song. After this song was recorded, the two record companies were arguing as to who would get the royalties for this hit? Both Queen and David Bowie were very irate with their respective record companies. They did not care who got the credit because it was something out of the blue with respect to the collaboration.
The Bowie footage in this is from the Freddie Tribute concert after his death, Bowie was singing it with Annie Lennox. Freddie's footage is at Wembley from the A Kind of Magic tour
Fantastic reaction! Even though there are artists I prefer more than Bowie and Queen, this is my absolute #1 favorite song of all time. I am not even sure why. The original video is one reason. Its regarded as one of the best ever, please take a look at it. When they recorded it, David and Freddie were isolated from each other so that they couldn't hear the other improvise. You totally picked up on that. Lastly, the version Queen played at the tribute concert with Bowie and Annie Lennox is guaranteed to tear you up. There is great footage of them rehearsing it too, but they hold back a bit. But not at the live performance. Annie is a powehouse on stage. It had to be a tough to perform this after losing their good friend and you can see this in Annie's desperate embrace and the look she gives David right after the performance. It slays me every single time.
Freddie's amazing talent and commitment comes through with the last song he recorded "The Show Must Go On". Freddie was extremely ill when Brian May wrote the song, which is about Freddie's AIDS and trying to figure out how to go on with it. Brian was convinced that by the time Freddie went to record the lead vocals for the song that it was too complex for how sick he was, but according to May, Freddie took a shot of vodka, told May 'I've got this, babe' and then nailed what is, especially in hindsight, a brilliant and heartbreaking performance in a single take.
Hi Stacey, great reaction! TY! Yes, the bass line was stolen and made famous in "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice, Queen sued and won out of court for an undisclosed amount... Trivia: Freddie Bulsara met David Bowie in a London haberdashery shop and Freddie sold him a pair of boots... when Queen was in studio in Montreaux, Bowie dropped in and played around before going to dinner, then went back to studio and came up with "Under Pressure" (their only song)... and yes, you were right, they never sang it together, the Bowie clips were from the tribute concert, which is a must-see experience to music enthusiasts... blessings.
Yes, more Bowie! Huge discography with a ton of hits (and a lot of great B-sides that I love). “Heroes,” “Space Oddity,” “Rebel Rebel” and tons more. A one-of-a-kind artist that is missed.
Stacey, this song came by accident, david came to the studio where queen was rehearsing, they messed around and got the strings for the song, they went off out together for a drink and a meal, then came back to the studio and forgot the strings, one person could remember, So in recording the song, they did it seperate, while freddie did his ad lib, david had to live the room, but david did sneak a listen, then freddie left and david did his part, thats why you see freddie doing alot of sounds rather than lyrics. brian may told the srory of queens documentary
This song still rips my guts out, decades after I first heard it. Bowie's catalog is varied. From Ziggy Stardust through Thin White Duke through the more pop 80s and then the near metal of Tin Machine and on and on. Bowie was very kaleidoscopic in his career, even more so than Queen was. Both are legends for a reason.
David Bowie is an enigma that NEEDS to be explored! He is so versatile and so diverse in his presentation of his music. His days with various backing musicians (because there didn't seem to be any set 'band' that he played with) such as his days as Ziggy, are incredible! The album Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars is an incredible concoction of music! You should check it out for sure! I was also so happy when Vanilla Ice was sued for using the music from this song for his song 'Ice, Ice, baby'. It made me really happy when Queen and David won the suit!
Bowie, apart from his artistic brilliance, was the coolest, sharpest dude ever to visit this planet. Just watch him singing Heroes at Live Aid, or Ziggy Stardust at the Hammersmith Odeon, or watch the Ashes to Ashes video for further glimpses into the mesmerising Bowieverse.
They wrote this song together, just never got around to performing it together. So someone edited these performances together. I feel like they would totally approve!
I love when people say they've heard the bassline before... well here is your explanation on that: Vanilla Ice sampled the bassline for "Ice Ice Baby" without crediting Queen or David Bowie (the song was created by them). It led to a lawsuit which was settled out of court and royalties from Ice Ice Baby go to Queen, and their credits were added to Ice Ice Baby. Vanilla Ice still gets around $300k - $400k in royalties a year from the song. So he was huge in the 90s because of the success of Ice Ice Baby, but the legal troubles led to him dying out in popularity.
David Bowie was an eclectic and brilliant songwriter and performer. His voice was unique and powerful and his songs were emotional and vivid. He was also a really good actor who had the good sense not to do it too often. A good entrance to Bowie is the movie Labyrinth, he not only plays The Goblin King, but he wrote all five songs (including one he doesn't sing) with lyrics in the movie. And it is a really fun and, I personally think, great movie.
John Deacon came up with the base line, they then all went out to dinner and he forgot it! Luckily he remembered it again! Watch Annie Lennox & David Bowie sing it at the Freddie tribute concert. (The Bowie footage is from that concert)
You definitely need some David Bowie in your life. He was a true artist and innovator who never stopped changing in his 50 year career. He produced one of his best albums only two days before he died, even though he was seriously ill when recording it. He has hundreds of great songs just waiting for you to find them.
When I saw Queen, the 2nd time, in Madison Square Garden in July of 1982, it was during their "Hot Space" tour. "Under Pressure" is off that record. Once that bass line started, the audience went nuts, hoping maybe, just maybe, David Bowie might show up. Sadly, he didn't, I forget if Brian or Roger sang his verses. Nevertheless, it was a great night. By the way, Billy Squier opened for them. He's somebody you should check out, too.

I am so glad you found Bowie. Queen and Bowie are in my top 5 of all time. I suggest to start on David Bowie at the end of his career wit Blackstar, When you do understand he was dying of a long terminal illness when he made it. I'll be watching for our take.
A duet and collaboration that’s difficult to top. David is a very malleable artist. He changed and innovated constantly over the years. Even into his 50s he was so relevant and in touch with the younger generations his latest album’s music was used by Australia’s new MTV clone cable music channel as their theme song. He’s got a huge catalogue of songs, but here’s a few to consider: Golden Years Rebel Rebel Young Americans Fashion Ashes To Ashes Space Oddity Changes The Jean Genie Dead Man Walking Sorrow Heroes Fame Let’s Dance Modern Love just to name a few, and in no particular order
So so many Bowie songs to do. First and foremost "Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy", a double song . Bowie wrote his part just minutes before the show as he really dislikes Little Drummer Boy. Other than covering the lyrics they sang that live for Bing Crosby's Christmas show unrehearsed. So professional were both that they gave us a masterpiece. Bing didn't even know who Bowie was before this. Next two songs are "Rebel Rebel" and "Space Oddity". Those three will addict you so be careful.
When Christmas comes around again you should check out the video of David Bowie singing with Bing Crosby of The Little Drummer Boy! Two of the greatest singers! Will bring you to tears!!!
Imagine the 2 together, Freddie and David have played to 250,000 and 80,000 respectively. Can you imagine both those bigger than life charismas in one room That's one fusion Dr Brian May (Queen guitarist and Astrophysicist) couldn't begin to explain.
Oh please fall down the David Bowie rabbit hole! You'll love it I'm sure. Starman, I'm Afraid of Americans, Ziggy Stardust, Space Oddity, Changes, Suffragette City, Young Americans and so many more. Thank you for experiencing this amazing music!
The bass line was sampled by Vanilla Ice in his song Ice, Ice Baby. This song and Rick James' Superfreak sampled my MC Hammer lead to lawsuits and laws about sampling other peoples copyrighted materials and music.
David was the Singer. Writer... He did voice on Childrens albums .. he did dancing and art and movies and Broadway. He produced other musicians to give them a booster shot. I remember when he produced Iggy Pop and they did interviews and his rule to the hosts "(paraphrased) If you ask anything about David Bowie I will walk out" His last album, his crew was sworn to keep his health a secret.. He released his last album and his connection to this world within days of each other, very much as David Bowie lived his life, in control. Check out Iggy Pop and Lou Reed too.. "Ziggy Stardust (and The Spiders from Mars)" is an amazing album and launched him into superstar territory. He built and rebuilt himself through many incarnations.
You def need to check out Queen "You Take My Breath Away" live at Hyde Park 1976. One of Freddies most heart melting performances. And also "Rock In Rio Blues" an amazing improv with freddie flexing his insane vocal range.
As much as you anf I adore Freddie Mercury. David Bowie comes a VERY close second! He doesn't have the voice but he is undoubtedly one of the greatest musicians of all time and one of the classiest human beings ever! Get onto David Bowie!!!!!!
Two music legends which we've sadly lost, R.I.P. Freddie Mercury and David Bowie. Another great baseline from John Deacon, that's where this song started, it was co written by both David and Queen, David wrote the lyrics, Freddie and the band the rest of it. This and "Another One Bites the Dust" are probably two of the best baselines of all time, I don't feel that John gets the recognition which he deserves, but Queen was a band with an embarrassment of riches.
oh man u are gonna love Bowie pick anything from him its good. Life On Mars? // Moonage Daydream (Remastered) // Let's Dance (Single Version [Remastered]) and many more
This is my favourite song…. The combination of Queen & Bowie is unmatched! I’m gutted I never got to see either of them live as I was born after Freddie died and was too young to go to see Bowie in his prime. Happy to see you covering it Stacey and I’m glad you liked it. You won’t regret getting into Bowie’s music. It’s funny for a song called under pressure, when the song ends it feels like all the weight of the world has been lifted off the shoulders.
I still think this is the best song duet of all time. I wish David Bowie and Freddie Mercury got a record more music together. Rest in peace both of them.
Thank you for this reaction video You did wonderful like always. Also congratulations on your sponsor. I dont know much about how people get sponsored but in my opinion, it was very professional.
It's a conundrum to pick where your David Bowie journey should start. He grew & grew from year to year & redefined himself on almost every consecutive album. From '67 to 2016, he was a chameleon that rarely disappointed, more likely blew you away. Some would say start from his first hit "Space Oddity". Not a bad idea, but if I wanted to highlight the inventiveness of his career, I'd say start with the song "Heroes" ('77). The truth is, anywhere is as good a place to start as any, because the next song you listen to will be like a brand new start.
A beautiful lady and fantastic reaction ❤ A incredible collaboration. DAVID BOWIE : FAME, MAJOR TOM, GOLDEN YEARS, are some of my favorites from him. You’re awesome 😎 Keep it up 👍
You've heard the baseline, because this song has been in several commercials. And the baseline was stolen by Vanilla Ice (and I say "stolen" and not "sampled" because he refused to acknowledge that he lifted it) and that song has also been in commercials. Bassist John Deacon was a genius for coming up with it. I think most of these images are from the performance they did together at Live Aid in the summer of '84 but the vidoe edited together from multiple camera angles and they're using the audio from the studio recording. For David Bowie, try "Heroes".
Hi Stacey greetings from England 🇬🇧 you need to watch David Bowie Singing his song "HEROES" Live at The Famous Live Aid Concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985 and this is an outstanding performance from Bowie!!! David Bowie is an iconic English singer and cult figure and in The UK we just simply call him BOWIE and he was a Chameleon who continually changed his musical styles and his appearance throughout his career and you really need to check out BOWIE a true Legend and national treasure in The UK 🇬🇧 and such a cool guy!!! You really need to go down the Bowie rabbit hole starting with HEROES.
Queen did this at their Wembley 86 gig, where I think some of this footage is from. Just before they started the song, Freddie played to the crowd getting them to repeat what he sang. Thousands of people right in the palm of his hand.
Roger has often said this was his favorite song because of the ending being so hopeful and loving. He sang it on his individual tours and there is a lovely video of his singing it "Live in Guildford, 19.10.2021." This is Roger singing beautifully at 72 years old. His voice has lowered, but still exquisite. And damn, he is still yummy af.
Ohh, wait! Yeah, this is the Live Aid concert. Freddie and David were in different locations, and they stitched together their performance . . . live! It was quite a feat at the time.
Stacey, you mentioned Freddie Mercury's vocal range, and you're correct, it's excellent. Wait until you hear David Bowie's vocal range, you should love that as well. 2 great talents, gone way too soon.
The intro/main baseline riff of the "Under Pressure" song grew to even more popularity status in the hip-hop world when it was used without permission plus without giving songwriting credits and royalties to Queen and David Bowie when involving the Hip-Hop Song "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice.
I guess younger people even don't have a clue that this baseline is originally from 'UNDER PRESSURE'. Maybe it is familiar to Stacey remembering it from Vanilla Ice, too.

He’s got a huge catalogue of songs, but here’s a few to consider:
Golden Years
Rebel Rebel
Young Americans
Fashion
Ashes To Ashes
Space Oddity
Changes
The Jean Genie
Dead Man Walking
Sorrow
Heroes
Fame
Let’s Dance
Modern Love
just to name a few, and in no particular order
Bowie is a rabbit hole you will NOT regret ❤
RobVan Winkle also known as vanilla ice did a spinoff of this riff for his song ice ice baby 🤣
Still get goosebumps more than 30 years after hearing the song for the first time...
Can you imagine both those bigger than life charismas in one room
That's one fusion Dr Brian May (Queen guitarist and Astrophysicist) couldn't begin to explain.
Always one of my favorite songs. I am glad Stacy liked it also.
This was officially released as a single in the UK & USA - it was a duet by Bowie and Queen. Never performed it together live.
The bass line was sampled by Vanilla Ice in his song Ice, Ice Baby. This song and Rick James' Superfreak sampled my MC Hammer lead to lawsuits and laws about sampling other peoples copyrighted materials and music.
QUEEN and David Bowie met in Montreux- and this song was the result. Excellent 👌🏼😊
The bass line is from ice ice baby. David sung at the Freddie tribute concert. George Michael singing someone to love is brilliant.
Good conclusion/observation! If I hadn't heard that I would of taken that they were just on stage together (not mixed). 👏
The David Bowie section is from Freddie mercury tribute concert which is worth a watch it beautiful long live Freddie ❤
Qieen left their imprint on the world and will continue to do so for generations to come
R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU WE HEAR YOU SINGING FROM HEAVEN
oh man u are gonna love Bowie pick anything from him its good.
Thanks Stacey
I still think this is the best song duet of all time. I wish David Bowie and Freddie Mercury got a record more music together. Rest in peace both of them.
Bowie made some of his best music early. His album Ziggy Stardust is on most all time great lists.
My favourite. Lyrics are very often not fully listened to!
Queen in Pittsburgh is definitely in the top 5 shows l have ever saw. When Freddie hits the stage time stops. The man was unbelievable on stage.
I wish they had more collaborations together but I also hope you'll enjoy David Bowie's sense of style! This was a powerful era for music ❤
A beautiful lady and fantastic reaction ❤
A incredible collaboration.
DAVID BOWIE : FAME, MAJOR TOM, GOLDEN YEARS, are some of my favorites from him.
You’re awesome 😎
Keep it up 👍
The Song was in the movie: The Girl next door. I first listened to the Bass Line there……
You've heard the baseline, because this song has been in several commercials.
One of my favourite songs from the 80s.!
I love David Bowie’s “China Girl” song/video ❤
Many congratulations on hitting 100k subscribers.
Thank you so much!!
Two legends now singing together in heaven💙
I love this song just because I get to scream "Let me out!". Master piece, absolute perfection.
David Bowie was a genius, a máster. I think His vídeo Blackstar Is a masterpiece.
The base line was also used by Is Vanilla Ice in ice ice baby
The concert and BTS version by Annie Lennox and David Bowie for the Freddie Mercury tribute concert is just as epic.
I love when they say “Loves such an old fashioned word” yes it is and it is great!
The base line at the beginning was sampled without permission by Vanilla Ice on "Ice Ice Baby" and it ended up costing him $4 million.
Stacey, you mentioned Freddie Mercury's vocal range, and you're correct, it's excellent. Wait until you hear David Bowie's vocal range, you should love that as well. 2 great talents, gone way too soon.
This was my late wife's favourite song ever! (Try David Bowie at Wembley Live Aid with "Heroes"!)
